  1. Welcome back to Eorzea, Kaln. It's always good to hear of people returning to the fold. There are plenty of FCs and LSes to choose from here on Balmung. You can browse them via the 'Linkshells' link on the site top menu. If you like what you read, why not drop people a /tell and ask to RP? I hope to see you around!
  2. Welcome, Cylin! I hope you make it over to Balmung. If you do, don't hesitate to drop Brynhilde Wulf a /tell! I'm always thrilled to welcome new people to our friendly server.
  3. This sounds like a lot of fun, and I'd love to join in. I'm EU time but fairly flexible, and I can tank, heal and dps.
  4. Welcome back! Head on over to the Linkshells tab up there ^ to browse active 'shells and FCs. I hope to see you around!
  5. The ellipsis, like much punctuation, has several uses. It's a fine example of the flexibility of the English language. As has been said, it's most often used to signify a 'trailing off' into thought or contemplation. This is called Aposiopesis. It's also used as a sort of 'pause' or short silence mid-sentence. I use the ellipsis for both of these uses, but I won't use more than one instance of it in a single sentence unless my character's suddenly awkward, hurt or hesitant. Since use of the ellipsis suggests an inability or unwillingness to respond, it should be used sparingly for characters who don't have communication problems. As Graeham said, a simple " ... " as reply doesn't really give others much to go on. It also leaves things unclear as to whether you're going to post again, or if it's their turn. In that case you'd likely be better off emoting a silent response. The "..." as response does have its uses, though. I find it good for conveying that Bryn either can't believe the stupidity of something that was just said to her, or that she's about to turn nasty. It's the 'calm before the storm', if you will.
  6. Hullo Peony, and welcome to Balmung! Please say hi if you see me around.
  7. And puns. Puns, right? Of course puns, my dear. Oh, and any time Dogberry wants to take his shirt off around Bryn is fine.
  8. For Bryn, it's casual flattery juxtaposed with playful teasing, and then generally acting aloof and cool. Works a charm.
  9. Roen's always good fun. I had a blast getting wrapped up with her and others in the intrigue of the Resistance. We should do it again sometime! I also love tracking her down on Bryn and messing with her. ;P
  10. This. The males look pretty badass, but the females are so disappointing. They look like Miqo/Midlander females with a scaly tail stuck on. They don't look like they are even from the same race, it's so bad.
  11. As Tiergan kindly said, Brynhilde is Ala Mhigan. She was roughly 18 when Ala Mhigo fell, and so witnessed (and was very much affected by) both the fall of the King of Ruin and Garlemald's coup. She was heavily involved in the Resistance from its early days, and spent some time in Little Ala Mhigo. Hers was a name well-known among the refugees at the time, although it's likely that as she distanced herself from the Resistance in later cycles, she wouldn't be known to the younger 'Mhigan orphans.
  12. Welcome to the RPC, and to Balmung. I hope to see you around. If you see me first, say hi!
  13. A rare, cool shower had sent the inhabitants of Pearl Lane scurrying for their rat-holes and ramshackle shelters late that eve, as an armoured and hooded figured made her way with an unhurried gait under the stone archways. With a canvas bag of goods slung over one pauldron-clad shoulder and the melodic chime of plate mail accompanying her steps, Brynhilde turned right toward the Exchange. There, pasted at a lop-sided angle and barely illuminated by the light of an oil lamp, was the flyer. The humidity in the air had already caused one corner of the parchment to curl up and away from the brick beneath. Bryn pressed an armoured finger down to flatten it as her pale eyes, pinched by a frown, scanned the words written there. A swift glance left and right along the mouths of the stairwell, and the flyer was torn from its perch and crumpled tightly in a metal fist. The Highlander looked up at the now naked square of wall from beneath her brow, her fine features growing into a twisted sneer. They shan't have her.
  14. I love it when people make use of the character wiki in random RP.
  15. Phew! It's been a busy moon for Aeon. To allow our group of new people to settle in, recruitment is now closed for two weeks. Applications may still be submitted for when we open recruitment again on the 13th of October!
  16. I know only of the following: http://ffxiv.zam.com/forum.html?forum=152&mid=1376352489287448998 http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/119485-Hydaelyn-at-large-%28is-there-a-compilation-of-info-yet-%29 http://gamerescape.com/2013/08/21/the-rise-and-fall-of-the-white-raven/ I hope this helps, Phae'ra, even if only a little.
