  1. Thank you so much for the input and encouragement, everyone. It means a lot and I really appreciate it. Now to plot how to get Bryn there.
  2. Hello all, I'm looking for thoughts/input on a concept I've been toying with over the last few weeks. Brynhilde is an ex-Ala Mhigan Resistance fighter who committed terrible atrocities during her years spent fighting the Empire's occupation. For almost two decades now she's been dealing with shame and guilt over the things she did for her homeland. Since ARR launched, I've been working toward the point in Bryn's story where she hits rock bottom before finally beginning to heal. I always thought that she'd do this through becoming a more religious character. While I could go the standard 'holy paladin' route with this, the MSQ gave me the idea of making Bryn an Ala Mhigan Shaman. We encounter 'Mhigan Shamans both in the Little Ala Mhigo portion of the MSQ and in the Monk quest line. Becoming a Shaman seems a more appropriate development for Bryn. I made her an older character (she's 40) so that she could not only play an active part in the turmoil surrounding AM's fall to the Empire, but also because I wanted AM's history and customs to inform her personality. Bryn is fiercely proud of her heritage, and despite the trauma she suffers as a result of her days in the Resistance, she looks forward to the day when she will see Ala Mhigo liberated. As an older 'Mhigan, Bryn watches with sorrow as many of the youngest 'Mhigan refugees shun 'The Old Ways' and don't even see themselves as Ala Mhigan at all. So Bryn would become a Shaman not only for her own healing, but for her peoples' healing, too. She would seek to preserve the traditions of the Ala Mhigan people, and give homage to the Twelve according to the customs of her homeland. Until we get more content featuring Ala Mhigo (next expansion plz SE), I'll be drawing inspiration from the culture and religious practices of the Germanic tribes as a reference for 'Mhigan customs. RP-wise, Bryn would seek to act as a guide for Ala Mhigan characters, particularly young ones. She could offer guidance on paying respect to the Gods (particularly Rhalgr) and mediate disputes as per 'Mhigan tradition, perform rites, recite ancient 'Mhigan tales, etc. All input is welcome. It'd be good to know if this idea only sounds good in my own head. TL;DR I'm thinking of making my character an Ala Mhigan Shaman. Yay/nay? This character would worship the Twelve with a distinctly Ala Mhigan lean. With the dearth of lore regarding 'Mhigan culture, I'll be drawing loosely from Germanic history Thoughts? Lore contributions? How i mine 4 fish??
  3. I can't say that I've noticed any lack of active RP FCs, but then I suppose that when you're in one these things are very difficult to see. When you're running about Eorzea, keep an eye on the FC tags next to people's names. Normally the FC info tab in-game will provide the link to their website, and this can be a very good way of gauging whether FCs are active.
  4. Rumours from Bryn posted in the last few days for: Rythiel Rothmoore Gharen Wolfsong Daghbheri Himalspyr Reima Awen Dartanon Nobis Brave Horizon Steel Wolf Nailah Quill Berrod Armstrong Chachanji Gegenji I still feel like I'm missing so many.
  5. After having to close recruitment due to an influx of awesome new members, Aeon is throwing open it's doors once again! If you're interested, head along to rune.enjin.com to submit an application.
  6. Ditto this. I'm on a rumour binge lately. If your character knows Bryn and you want a rumour, lemme know!
  7. Bryn Wolffe graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst aged 20. She joined the Royal Artillery as a promising young Second Lieutenant, and spent 8 months training in her role as an artillery officer before she and her unit were given their first deployment. She was generally regarded by her superiors as serving well in that first tour, although her unit suffered two casualties in combat. She saw many horrible things she would never forget. Three more tours followed in the next 5 years, with Bryn's promotion to Lieutenant and subsequent consideration for the rank of Captain. In her final tour, Bryn was awarded the Victoria Cross for her courageous leadership of an operation involving an assault on a compound where a large body of enemy personnel and a sizeable stockpile of weapons were located. The operation was considered a major success, but the Army became mired in controversy when the British media spoke to a whistle-blower who informed them that incomplete intel resulted in the death of a not insignificant number civilians in that operation. The whistle-blower may or may not have been Bryn. Bryn never made Captain. Although she wasn't stripped of her VC, she was separated from the Army shortly after the media broke the story. Whether this was voluntary or not was not disclosed. Unlike in Eorzea, on Earth there is no thriving mercenary market demanding the skills of an ex-soldier with PTSD. Bryn received some offers of rudimentary, short-term counselling, but was ultimately yet another veteran let down by the state that sent her to fight. She, like so many of her ex-colleagues, slips through the cracks and turns to substance abuse. She soon found herself destitute and homeless, and was found dead at the age of 25. Support the troops.
  8. Huge, muscular, covered in scars and body hair. Vibrating functions also welcome.
  9. You can do eeet! We believe in you! I really want to do a full reformat of Bryn's page. I'm thinking some sort of nice graphical layout... As soon as I learn the code.
  10. The quest which unlocks Wanderer's Palace Hard features a gay couple - a Highlander man and a Miqo'te. Amusingly, the quest makes much of the prejudice the two have faced for being together, but stresses their racial difference over their shared gender.
  11. The Midlanders insult the Highlanders by saying that their mothers were Sea Wolves.

  17. Well, it sounds so dirty when I put it like that. It's a day ending in 'y', which means it's time yet again for us to lose several hours of our preciously finite lives to farting around on TV Tropes. I'm not sorry. ITT, link to a Trope which somehow describes/is connected to the character of the poster above you. Go!
  18. I love it. Let's make it happen.
