1. With just under 2 weeks to go until the event, be sure to get your applications in, people!
2. I'm all for this, it sounds like good fun!
3. Hi Sion, It sounds like you'd be a good fit for The Traveling Templar. We're a large (50+ members, everyone an RPer) RP-dedicated LS and FC who first formed years ago back in FFXI. While we have a strong core of regulars and old-timers, we've collected a lot of new people in FFXIV. We have plenty of events and meet-ups, and a wide variety of character types to interact with. Aside from RP we often play together too, be it by doing duties together or simply FATE grinding. Find us at http://travelingtemplar.org/forum/index.php Happy adventuring!
4. Whoops! I was thinking of the parser program for FFXI I used a lot when I posted this, and got a bit confused. ^^; Thanks for the replies!
5. Hey all, I was wondering if anyone knew of a parser program for FFXIV that I could use to record chat logs. I am sad that I can't refer back to my RPs once I've logged out of the game. :<
6. We all know that the adventuring life can be lonesome at times. As winter deepens and Eorzeas nights grow longer, what better way could there be to ward off the cold than basking in the warmth of newly kindled friendships? To that end, The Traveling Templar cordially invites any and all adventurers to our first speed-meeting event. You’ll meet new people and hopefully make new friends, and afterwards there will be mingling with food and drink available. When: Saturday the 9th of November, 7:30pm EST. Where: Fallgourd Float, North Shroud. To avoid congestion, attendance is by application only. Details: Attendance to this event is limited. This is purely to keep the event manageable. If you wish to attend, contact either Nadeau Celeste, Ne'ci Aera or Brynhilde Wulf in-game, or PM Bryn or Ne'ci on the RPC forums. When you apply, you will be given a number. Please write this down and keep it safe! The event will be run by mods from The Traveling Templar. Before the event, you will be told the name of the mod for your group. This is a charity event held for the benefit of those poor souls displaced by the Calamity. There will be a 500gil In-character entrance fee. (We won’t actually be taking gil from you). Characters will be organised into groups, set up in a structured way so as to get them talking with strangers. After the time slot is up the group rotates and you’ll get a new partner. Conversation with your partner will be conducted in /tell. This is to prevent the undesirable situation of massive chat-log flood. This is not a speed-dating event! For the sake of simplicity, it's simply speed-meeting. Groups will not be arranged by gender (however, if romance does happen to blossom, that is thoroughly encouraged!) Advice: Your character will be conversing with others in 6 minute slots. The use of large amounts of descriptive prose and long emotes is therefore not advised. Come prepared with interesting trivia regarding your character, and make use of the game's emote list. Macros are a good idea! Please refrain from OOC chatter in /say, if you can. To keep the event from going on all night, we will not wait for DC's, bathroom breaks, etc. There will be short breaks between rounds. The speed-meeting is expected to last for just over an hour. The mingling afterwards will go on for as long as people hang around! ((Special thanks to Masha'ra Dhavha, Xenillia Silverclaw, Sophia Grave and Eses Fafa for helping us test the logistics for this event!))
7. Hello, and welcome! Please say hi if you see me about on Balmung.
8. Hello Larsonient, welcome to the fold. Both you and your character sound awesome. Drop me a tell when you're on Balmung!
9. I. Basic Info Characters: Primary character: Brynhilde Wulf Linkshells: The Traveling Templar, Europa Primary RP linkshell: The Traveling Templar II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium-to-heavy. I'm in character whenever I'm not grinding or in a party. Views on RP combat and injuries: Both are fine, so long as they're agreed on ahead of time. I disliked unplanned fights. Views on IC romance: I like it, but I like to let it develop of its own accord. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I'm open to arranging things with people, but typically I save this sort of thing for people I know and trust. Views on lore: I think there's a lot of leeway to do your own thing with the Lore, provided you do it in the right way. I'm all for novel concepts, organisations, places, etc, so long as they don't directly contradict any of the established game lore. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): It all goes. III. Other Info Country: UK Timezone: GMT Contact info: If you would like to contact me, either send me a /tell in-game, or PM me on the forums here. [glow=blue]~Special announcements can be found in the posts below~[/glow]
10. There is a missive pinned to the board in the Quicksand. In elegant cursive script, it reads: ((Thank you to Myranda Al'Cyoene of Hyperion for the font.))
11. Welcome! I hope you have fun here on Balmung. If you see Brynhilde Wulf about, say hi!
12. Server: Balmung. I'm in the UK, so I play mostly during European evenings. Primary Linkshell: The Traveling Templar Characters: Brynhilde Wulf Style of Roleplay: Varies. I'm in-character about 80% of the time, the general exceptions being when I'm in a party or pick-up-group. I enjoy everything from mundane and casual to improvisational and dramatic RP, but tend to avoid IC fights unless they're planned ahead of time. I like to take a long-term view in terms of character development. Strongest Skills: I have a good understanding of what drives a story forward, and am particularly good at helping to resolve niggling plot issues.

Hello!

Welcome, Raeras! I hope to bump into you around Balmung sometime.
14. Although I won't be joining you, I think your idea is a great one. It certainly sounds very interesting!
15. Hello all, Having finally gotten around to making an RPC profile for Bryn, I figured it was about time I actually (re)introduced myself on here, instead of lurking like a creepy creeper. In FFXIV v. 1.0 I played the Miqo'te Jakih Ishtari, a member of the Order of the Stormguard linkshell. I didn't stick around, however, and came back in the beta for ARR. I now play the Highlander Brynhilde Wulf. Before all of this however, I was Bexb of the Light's Templar RP linkshell (now returned in FFXIV as the Travelling Templar on Balmung) over on the Phoenix server of FFXI. I also briefly played on Leviathan with the Lost Boys RP LS. It's been a pleasure RPing with those of you I've met so far. I'm usually in-character and always up for either RPing or discussing RP, so if you see me about on Balmung please don't hesitate to say hi! I'm in the UK, so I'm about during EU peak time, and NA daytime. Happy adventures, Bryn

Over 1000!

Wow. :3 Pretty neat, huh? So, when are we have an RL gathering? /grin
17. I am horribly tempted. I loved IV, and I'm sad that I won't be getting V because I'll be playing XIV too much.
18. Well, I really think it's worth doing something. This is a great opportunity for us.
19. Wow. That is absolutely rediculous. But let me get it straight; you won't be able to sell or buy games second hand anymore? The article also mentions the possibility of book publishers using this law... Now that is terrifying. Limiting access to literature is a crime against humanity.
20. A tub of E45 moisturiser. Yeah, I'm screwed. But on the plus side, when I die the zombies will be biting simply beautiful skin.
21. Some buddies from the Stormguard and I ran around in Coerthas a couple nights back. It's amaaazing out there! I outran a dragon! I might go back and take pictures of them.
22. Now I don't know about you, but once I've got all my questing/levelling/crafting done, I find there's nothing quite like going exploring in the big wide game world. Some of my fondest memories from Vana'diel involving going to some far-off corner of the map 'just because'. It's like an adventure in itself! So now that we have a whole new world to explore in Eorzea, this thread is for any and all neat, beautiful amazing or just plain weird stuff you find on your adventures. I'll begin with this: Having done my crafting and battleleves for the evening, I set off far north of Ul'dah, curious to see the 'Mor Dhana' area. I didn't quite manage to get there (I got close - running, wailing and screaming toward the zone line with a pack of rabid, high-level wolves at my heel), but I did find some interesting stuff on my travels. Most notably, this: It's in the middle of the 'Hidden Gorge' area of Thalanan. It's very intiguing. The wheels on the towers turn, and that wispy stuff coming out looks a lot like aetheryte. A farm, perhaps? http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a296/ ... plore2.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a296/ ... plore3.jpg Unfortunately, my foray with my furry, ravenous friends found me respawning at the aetheryte in Camp Bluefog, the camp occupying the Hidden Gorge area. Immediately behind the camp is the huge, gaping, dark maw of a cave, no doubt full of untold horrors that surely could only be conjured forth from the most deranged and twisted of imaginations. Naturally, I had to go in. I found this little guy. Some kind of mutated mole. Isn't he neat? http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a296/ ... cotuco.jpg And what does any sane, self-respecting adventurer do when suddenly confronted with one of the most feared and deadly of monsters in the Final Fantasy franchise? Why, take hilarious pictures with it, of course! http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a296/ ... mbface.jpg Phew. A productive day of adventuring! Over to you.
