  1. Hullo, all. I'm in need of a few of character types for my character's development. I need the following: A religious character. Someone with extensive knowledge of the Twelve and their teachings, and who is a person of strong faith. Ideally they would be willing to impart these teachings on others and to guide them in better knowing the Twelve. A dealer in somnus, milkroot, and other contraband. An employer; anyone in need of the services of a skilled adventurer and combatant, with a proven track record in getting the job done, whatever its nature. Drop me a PM on here, or a /tell in game if you're interested in discussing how we can get our characters working together. Thanks! - Bryn
  2. Hi Steel Wolf, I loved your post. So much so that I am sad you're over on Gilgamesh and not here on Balmung. But hey, you're an altoholic, right? Alt it up here on Balmung, and drop Brynhilde Wulf a /tell.
  3. ((Hello all! So that our European friends are not excluded from the lovey-dovey fun, this event will now be happening again at a more EU-friendly time on Sunday the 16th of Feb!))
  4. Hah! Of course. People not participating in the roulette can still attend the ball.
  5. Salutations, Adventurers! We are now but mere suns from the moon of Menphina, the first umbral moon. And of course with Menphina, comes love and all the joys it brings. In particular, the first umbral moon brings us Valentione’s day! We of the Traveling Templar free company would like to extend our warmest invitation to all lonely hearts and romantic types to attend our Date Roulette and Masked Ball evening. So bring your mask and dress up in the colours of romance, because love just might be in the air... When: Saturday the 15th of February, 7:00pm EST (12AM server time/GMT) Where: The Bobbing Cork tavern, Fallgourd Float, the North Shroud. Details: If you wish to participate in the roulette, contact either Nadeau Celeste or Brynhilde Wulf in-game, or PM Bryn on the RPC forums. You will need to give us the following details (You will not be participating in the roulette if you do not give us these details beforehand.): Your character’s name: Their sex: Race: Age: A Hobby: Job: What they are seeking: (Male) (Female) (either) Saturday or Sunday event?: (Sat/Sun) Notes: (If your character won’t date a certain race/type of person, etc.) When you give us these details, you will be given a number. Please write this down and keep it safe! You will be partied up with your date for the evening. Conversation with your partner will be conducted in party chat. This is to prevent the undesirable situation of massive chat-log flood. Don’t forget to wear your mask! At the end of the dating roulette event, you will be invited by your hosts to remove your mask before your date, should you wish to. The theme colours are red, white and black. You may wear anything, but please come in these colours! You are welcome to come along to the ball, even if you don't wish to participate in the date roulette! We will be pairing both opposite-sex and same-sex couples, depending on characters’ preferences.

    Hai

Hi Lynna! Welcome to the RPC, the game, and to Balmung. I hope you're having a good time in Eorzea. If you see Brynhilde Wulf about the server, drop me a /tell. I'm always happy to meet newbies!
  7. Wonderful! Welcome back. ^^
  8. Snapped this one just before a Templar event last night:
  9. With the RP community being as large and prominent as it is on Balmung, we were always going to get a degree of backlash. But we RPers will always be a minority within the wider gaming community. And if there's one unfortunate constant of human nature, it's that wherever there is a minority, that minority will inevitably end up being victimized. Generally, I just ignore the trolls. I filter /shout from my logs at all times to avoid the recruitment spam and such, anyway. That being said, I've been pleasantly surprised by how little harassment I've experienced or witnessed on Balmung. The worst I've seen is some asshat dragoon jumping into the middle of a scene and spamming his abilities in an attempt to disrupt us. Generally it's best to not even acknowledge such people. Their goal is to disrupt your RP, and as soon as you complain to them, they've already won. I did have an incident recently where I was RPing in the Quicksand and some guy sat down and started making very obviously passive-aggressive emotes to mock us ((Drinking all of our booze, throwing up, passing out on the table, etc)). I ran with it and emoted Bryn shaving off one of his eyebrows with a dagger and using her kohl stick to draw a penis on his forehead, at which point he promptly got up and left.
  10. Fun! I'm in: @BrynhildeWulf. Add me!
  11. Welcome, welcome! Please keep an eye out for Brynhilde Wulf. Bryn's always happy to meet a fellow Ala Mhigan.
  12. All of the above! Although I have heard it said by some RPers recently that there's a bit much in the 'casual meet n' greet' category as far as events on the server are concerned. Which is understandable, as purely social events aren't suitable for all characters. Trouble is, the casual meet up is so common because it's the simplest to run. Try to implement more novelty and you inevitably end up needing more structure and organisation. On that note, I'm always happy to help out with events if an extra pair of hands is needed! PS - For those interested, The Traveling Templar are organising a speed dating variant of our speed meet event for Valentione's in February. Details will be up on the forums here soon.
  13. That's a good tip, Nebbs. Thank you to everyone who came along to the speed meet! I hope everyone had fun. Now we begin preparations for the February edition... /grin
  14. We will be starting shortly. Contact Brynhilde Wulf in game if you are unsure of where to go.
  15. Location updated! The event is tomorrow, folks. We look forward to seeing you.
  16. Well if someone wanted to set something up, I'm definitely up for this!
  17. Well, we will need volunteers for various roles. Even if your character isn't the type to socialise, they could be on the door, collecting donations, serving refreshments, etc...
  18. Wow, that's a lot of new content. Seen: We can ride drakes. Dust bunny piloting a gigantic golem. Sneaking into Sylphlands wearing a chocobo costume what
  19. If anyone was curious about how the first event went, you can find the thread here.
  20. Bryn's strolling about in Ul'dah at the moment, lost for something to do.
  21. Finally got my win, woop! Thanks so much, you guys are the best.
