Almost on que, the mysterious woman's eyes meet with Seraj as she secretly battled with the notion of stealing the charm around her neck. An old spark brought life to her eyes for a second and she almost looked excited. There was almost a daring sort of smile on her lips, as if she was challanging Seraj, daring her to go for it, hoping for a moment she would. Then the two looked away from eachohter and the moment was gone. Had she given into her desire and attempted to take the trinket from her, she would not have been the first, and likly not the last either. The trinket was of great value to her, but it was also a terrible burden. Her eyes drifted for the breifest of seconds as she travled back in time to the moment it was gifted to her. It was given to her as an act of mercy, to cure a deformity so grotesque and aweful she no doubt would have had to face life as an outcast. However even with it, she could not help but gather the unwanted attention of every keen eye. She moved slowly, pushing her chair from the table with her arms. She took a moment to fix her shirt and reached out for her walking stick. She seemed set on something now, and she approched the card playing duo, interested now in Seraj, with familar grin on her lips now, she spoke, or rather the charm spoke. "You admire it, yet you don't even know what it is...it might fetch a hefty price, but then again perhaps not. I doubt the curse it bestows on its owner is somehting many could bare..." Her voice was so young, so fresh and held so much energy. It was as if it came form the lips of an adventurer in her prime. The old women held a familiar demeanor to her, one perhaps Seraj might recongnise, one that would tell a great story about her life and her expirences, with out having to say a word. A life of suffering a life or adventure, and a lonly one too, a life lived by the sword. One she quite possibly might be able to relate to. Or then again, perhaps not.

She nodded in responce to the bar keep's general set of conversation, to nothing inparticular really. She then sat quietly drinking her ale, and watching everything that was going on, with keen interest it would seem. She appeared quite aware of everything, sharp as a knife...or so it seemed. She may look old, but she did not act it. As her mug approched empty, she smacked her lips a bit and the faintest of smiles creeped across her lips. When she was not drinking however, she kept her mouth closed tightly however, almost strangly so. She watched the card playing duo, and the barkeep, the new patron and the strange fellow who smelt of fish. She seemed content...for now.

When the beer came, she took a drink, not just a drink but a drink. The hearty sort of drink the soldiers would take after a long day. A good portion of the glass sort of drink. It didn't seem to bother her, nor did it in earnest bring her any pleasure. There was no satisfied closed eyed smile, but there was no painful expression resulting from having dranken far to much far to fast. When the o ne who served her was once again within ear shot she spoke again. "Nothing remarkable about it, more of a curse if anything..." She muttered as she let one elbow rest on the table. She was a warrior, or had been in her prime. Her mannerisms betrayed her. She heard the strange dark one speaking of fish, but she didn't react, and she was aware of the playing of cards. No one would believe her if she told them, but she could hear each card as it was drawn and placed as if it was as loud as an oxen. "I've no need for a drawing of this old face young lady."

The place was growing quite populated now, and this was a dissapointment for the older woman. Her eyes meet with the Miq'ote who was here to take her order. There was a long silence after she asked what she would like, a very long strange silence. Then the most peculuar of things happened. A voice that sounded like it had come from a woman in her prime, a soft melodic voice like a teenager perhaps or one of only twenty came, but not from the mouth of the older woman. Upon closer inspection it would appear actually that her mouth did not move at all. Only the small charm around her neck glowed faintly with each word. "Something strong, and in a very large glass. Roegadyn beer...what ever you have and it had better be strong." Though the voice was soft almost sweet sounding, it was also harsh and quick. There was no joy or pleasentry in her tone, but she was not barking or screaming, simply placing an order. It seemed this was all to natural a tone for her, she wore it well. Her eyes fell on the others watching her, as if she was keenly aware of each of them, but she said nothing to any of them, and her glare did not linger.

I've decided to enter Azreiel, my ALT character. I've done little to bring her into light yet and haven't much written up on her. What role she will play come launch is unsure but she'll be around somewhere. :approve:

(I am going to warm up my ALT here a little bit. She is an aged Hyur, a character very dear to my heart. What role she will play come Launch I have yet to decide but she is fun to rp none the less.) The thick wooden doors of the Drowning Dolphin are thrown back, an ageing woman makes her way in, her pace is slow and her gaze unfoccused. Her actual age remaining a mystery, but her mostly grey hair mixed with a few cinnamon strands of aburn red hint that she is likly over 60 at least. The skin on her face is slightly wrinkled around her mouth and eyes, but she has aged well. Pearcing green eyes like summer's grass, with eyebrows downcast and a mouth curled into a frown that has grown on her face for generations. She wears comon clothes and walks with the aid of a walking cane, theives would find no prize on her, save for a small charm around her neck, tied by a silver necklace. The aged Hyur finishes her way to a table somewhat out of the way but still visible enough to be seen. Past the young Miq'o'te, past the young Elezen, she takes a seat, her movements slow but deliberate. Her stirn and stoic expression would scare off even the friendliest of foalk from a possible conversation. Her eyes search for a wile for something, as she pulls her chair closer to the table and allows her cane to rest against the table. Her lips scrunch as she finds her target, the barkeep, and so she will stare, and wait for eye contact.

As far as these forums are concerned Ezorea > Vana'deil That does not mean we don't LIKE Vana'deil, just that we are HERE to prepare ourselves and the Rping community for the september Launch of XIV. I will always hold Sylph and Crystalline in my heart, but FFXI is no more for ME, and I'm looking onward to the future! As a side note, if whom ever started this conversation side note wants to find people to rp with in Vana'deil...they can just read through this thread and contact those people via Private Message. Take the initiave and start a Link Shell yourself?

As interesting as this sounds, I am seeing a lot of Chaos and a lot of very difficult roads to cross before this becomes a reality. Don't let me deter you from this by all means. I am interested in seeing where this goes. Also, not being a free lancer does not exclude ANY of us from rping with a member or another link shell/guild when ever we like. If I am meandering around the noob zones and run into someone from A.E.T.H.E.R or Balthazar's Favor, or anyone for that matter in the RPC, I'll gladly rp, interact and engage in any number of sub plots. My character is my own after all right? In a way I view all of us as POTENTIAL freelancers in that sense. T.A.L.E is the guild I joined and I am part of their plot and story line, they are my in-game family...or in FF terms my "party". But that doesn't stop me from rping with someone else. When I was in Crystalline I held a Ethereal pearl as well. When it was dull on one shell I'd swap to the other. Good luck, and I'm interested to see how this works out.

(ok re located this here since its probally better to post this question here) Ok exact rig is as such (Even the un important stuff) Windows 7 64 bit premium AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Six Core 2.8 GHz Asus Crosshair IV Patriot Sector 5 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz 500GB SATA HardDrive LG SATA DVDRW Radeon 5770 Video Card INwin c584 Case ATC Case W/ Corsair 750 Watt Im curious as to how this rig will preform. I am not interested in running the game in low res mode, call it picky. I'd like high ress mode as good as I can manage within reason. I am thinking of upping my vid card to the Radeon 5850 and that is about as much as I can afford, the reg is going to cost about 1184 with the 5770 and add 150 to that if I switch to the 5850. Any advice? Any nerds out there know their stuff?

Oschon for me. Since Hayden is a Miner mostly living in the caves and such of Ul'Dah, it seems to fit.

Oh Eva! I was there for so much of that! Your awesome however its good to still have you around! Lets see what I am guilty of. Amnesia yea I did that to my character, I also did the having a baby thing and the romance thing but the person IC I did it was just happened to me my IRL wife! One thing I REALLY get tiard of to no end is the dark complicated past dealie. Not that I am against dark complicated pasts...but it just so happens that people mostly pair THEIR dark complicated pasts with an angst filled steriotypical final fantasy eske hero, or a dark brooding lone wolf. Gets old after a wile. I think I will make my character a bright happy and chipper fellow with a borring past! :afro:

RL Name: Dan RL Age: 27 Country: Canada Timezone: EST RL Gender: Mae --Why do you like to RP? It's fun, it's a distraction, it passes the time. Basic info --Characters: Right now I am waiting on more lore info from the game to make a final decision. But I rped Azreiel Kamba in the past over ff11. --Current primary linkshell: For XIV it will be T.A.L.E RP Preferences: --RP style (light, casual, moderate, or heavy)? somewhere inbetween casual and moderate. --Are you willing to RP a fight scene in game? Sure, so long as its scripted and serves a purpose for story line. Also, if there is a PVP option. Otherwise its best to write stuff like that out and post them on the forum, to avoid awkwardness. --What is your preferred method of combat? (/randoming, skill based, etc) scripted, it must serve a purpose for the story, it must be for a reason, mind you there are MANY reasons. --Are you willing to take major injuries in game? (ie limb loss, comas, etc.) Sure, so long as it fits with the game. Also it must fit with my storyline. --Are you willing to let your character die permanately? nope. --Are you willing to RP romance in game? How far are you willing to go? not really. Unless its part of my characters backdrop. Not normally with another rper however. --What kind of non-romantic RP relationships are you willing to take part in? (family ties, etc) depends...come to me with a good idea and we'll talk. --How far from the actual lore are you willing to stray? I like to stick to mostly what is in the game, aka I donât really like the stray too much from game lore...unless you really have a good idea, or if something in the game lore is just ridiculous. Generally however I will stray away from obscure ideas, clichéâs and the likes. Demon possessions, half everything races, unrealistic backgrounds, that sort of thing doesnât impress me. Now come up with an awesome back-story using realistic ideas within the framework the game lore gives youâ¦thatâs impressive. --Views on chat functions (IC vs OOC)? There is a time and a place for both. Donât be an OOC copâ¦itâs annoyingâ¦your annoying and its causing more trouble than the little bit of OOC. Also, if the general mood of the night seems to be leading towards everyone being OOCâ¦go with the flow and stop fighting it. --Are you looking for Cross-guild Rp? Sure --How do you prefer to be contacted? (PM or post in this thread) Pm.

quite true...I'll just do waht I did in ff11...trial and error!

I am thinking Limsa Lominsa. Gridania screams Windrust to me and it looks confusing to navagate already! Ul'Dah catches my interest...and would have been a great starting city for Azreiel had she been in ff14 and not 11! However I have not made up my mind. I am leaning towards Limsa Lominsa right now. :study:

What we should do I think is try to foccus ourself on one server. Try to gather as MANY people together. The problem I ahd early on in ff11 was I had no idea HOW to find an rp link shell.I stumbled across Crystalline on sylph. I think we should aim to concentrate people towards one server. don't you agree? :cheer:
