1. Yes. However there are smaller communities on other servers. If you want to get into Balmung, the only way is through a paid transfer. 2. I mean, they are not the most numerous for what I have noticed. But there are people who play as roegadyn and they're usually pretty nice. Highlanders are trending, no doubt thanks to the coming expansion The Ala Mhigan Resistance linkshell is super good for connections along those notes. 3. Cookies.

It's probably one of the hardest things about organizing things for others. What some of it comes down to could be who you recruit, there's a lot of different variations of RP that people like more over another. So perhaps you need to focus your recruitment more on people who want story-driven content more-so than social RP. I would also say that cutting out or trying to kill the social rp is probably not going to be the best idea - when you roleplay everyday, the social element can become a very big part of your character, with connections that needs to be maintained. Yes, there is such a thing as too much, but if you have nothing at all you'll end up with a group that isn't much like a group because no one has really connected with each other. Shifting the focus can be difficult if social stuff is genuinely what people want to do, you can't really force people to shift gear that way - but you may also want to look into if there could be other reasons driving people into social RP. For one, some plot things could very well be happening in the muddle of it, with your focus being on criminal RP that's something I could easily see happening. But secondly people just might not feel like it's easy enough to jump in with the plot-lines, might not be interested or can't see how their character would fit in. Oftentimes you have to be the one asking these questions because people wont always express their concerns/problems/woes. And - without wanting to sound bad here - a lot of people like to be the center of attention for at least a little while. Trying to appeal to this, but without making a whole plotline about just *one* person, can also help generate some interest. Whichever it is and however it all pans out - I hope you'll end up seeing some improvements. The criminal scene is definitely a good one and it is great to see people being active within it

After a year of gathering dust, I've decided to get the Pen Pal Project up and running again. What is the Pen-Pal project? The pen-pal project is a chance for you to make more connections, by getting matched up with another character. You will then exchange IC letters with the character you were matched with. How it comes to a part of your characters lives is all up to you & your match, maybe the first message is found in a random location that sets the basis for the exchange going forward. Maybe they actually wanted to deliberately find a pen-pal. Be as creative as you feel like! The matches are random, and gets made through the sign up information. Whenever possible, I will attempt to avoid matching you with people your character already knows. Okay, how do I sign up? Fill out this information in a reply or PM to me: Character Name: Wiki link/short description: Have you completed the MSQ up until end of 3.4: Yes/No My character should be anonymous: Yes/No/Either works (NB: If there's someone that, for whatever reason, you don't want matched up with make sure you send this information in a PM.) Wait? Anonymity? How does that work? Anonymity is tricky, but not impossible. It opens up for discussions your character might not have with anyone if they knew a name or face on the other person. To make the exchange happen, I recommend using either an NPC or PC courier-type character to deliver the letters back and forth, but you may be able to find other ways that better suit your characters. When does it start? I need at least 10 sign-up's for a round to happen - When that criteria has been fulfilled, I will then announce the matches in this thread. For each match, one person will be highlighted in bold to indicate that they're the ones that will start the exchange, by being the first to write a letter. But remember, communication is key with all things roleplay - and this is no exception - so do send off an OOC note just to make sure that everything's okay so start. With all that said, feel free to sign up! Any questions can be sent towards my PM box. Cheers! ----------------------------------------------- Round 1 Matches: * If your name is highlighted in Bold, you start the correspondence. * [A] Indicates that your correspondence will be anonymous. * [N.A] Indicates that your correspondence will not be anonymous. (In many cases both sides were fine with either. I have defaulted these to N.A) [A] Yvain Desrosiers Yael Cahenaut [N.A] Keiragi Kishi W'chaza Yheli [A] Nathaniel Salem Syranelle Ironleaf [A] Kiri Rokuyari Deafel Pharasma | No spoilers! [N.A] Ryuichi Shizumi Roen Deneith [N.A] Ume Gyoji Lamia Vuinet [N.A] Ruran Vas Chouwa Morrison [N.A] Liliro Liro Y'zhara Zekial [N.A] Simeon Sibaruse Reinhold Alleman [N.A] Lucaell Townsend Willow Evinar Ready, set, write! Round 2 will happen if the thread receives an additional 10 sign-up's!

Black Magic - The dilemna of the Gem of Shattoto
Maril replied to Valence's topic in Lore Discussion
The lorebook's section for BLM doesn't mention anything about use of the gem(s). However my take on it would be that there in the past, since the school was quite popular in Shatotto's time, there'd most likely have been more than just one of these. I mean, other lore for soulstones point to the fact that some of them aren't exactly rare, what makes them rare is the fact that just everyone seems to be able to use them. What makes a person self-immolate is the fact that they lost control, which is a result of them not knowing enough about the spell they were casting. Soulstones pass down knowledge to those that can use them, and so it would essentially "fix" this problem. It probably would take the quest-blm quite a lot of years of study and chasing tomes, risking being burned at the stake and what not to achieve the same level of knowledge to be able to cast these spells without the risk of self-immolation. IF that is even possible in current time, it's not exactly teeming with current examples. Since the school has been outlawed/banned and obscured for many many many years, there probably aren't many of the gems/soulstones left, which is probably also why the quest NPC's present the gem of shattoto as a mystery they don't completely understand yet. I'd say that it's probable that -the- gem of shattoto is the "strongest" in the bunch since they were the first one to successfully use black magic. That'd be my take on it anyways. -
