1. No body. Specific explanation by NPC on how the floor collapsed underneath them and sent them into the river. Not a single tear was shed that day. Gosetsu, no family, probably dedicated to fighting one war or another his entire life. Yotsuyu, no love in her life from her family. Oh, I see what's happening here. Redemption arc. Lets ride. I wonder how they can make it good though. I felt like they tried real hard to get me to feel for her motives, but the entire time I'm sitting there shaking my head like alright I see you had a rough one. You're still an awful person though. I liked Zenos. Yeah, he was one dimensional but you need one of those every so often. When all your villains are fallen heroes that gets old too. Sometimes you just need a villain that's a monster. And this one was recognized as such even by his papa. Like it wasn't a character that was meant to be deeper and they fumbled it-- it was just a character that was meant to be a shallow monster. Fordola was fantastic on the other hand. Just great. This xpac definitely lacked the emotional impact of Haurchefaunt dying. Like compared to Haurchefaunt... who the eff was Conrad. I mean the old man was alright, but my friends barely remembered him. I had to remind them he died when they spoke of how little we lost.
2. Same. It's disappointing since it makes my chosen response completely opposed to what I intended. Oh well.
3. Hello! I am the Free Company leader of the Lemieux Skytrade Company and I share your views on the rarity and magnificence of manacutters. My group of pirates currently owns four manacutters. Three work and 1 is broken. They've taken these manacutters as loot after some high-octane adventures against rival pirates and the such. Have your character swing by Goblet Ward 4, Plot 30 after about 8pm EST and sooner or later your bound to hear talk of manacutters. And if she's real lucky, she might just get escorted to check them out as far as buying them , we'll see, but we do roleplay them as being extremely expensive and beyond their worth just rare enough that they won't be willing to part with them very easily. Maybe the broken one . Let me know if this is relevant to your interests

7. By Halone! What a compliment. Thank you very much! It means a lot to hear that feedback. Here's an updated list of the lovelies you'll be able to nab a date with! If you can afford it that is . And Wolf or Castle... tough choice. Castle sounds like a badass Roe lady on name alone, but I've seen a lot of the ol' Steel Wolf around these forums and never gotten the opportunity to see her in action. Tough, tough choice.
8. This is interesting. What do you all do when MSQ events necessitate knowledge of the WoL? For example... You wouldn't need to be too high up in Ul'dah to know that the WoL was involved in that fiasco at the end of 2.55. Or that the WoL was involved in the very public Ishgardian fiasco at the end of 3.1. There's a lot of MSQ events that even if your character isn't part of it... they really would've heard about them. Yeah, you can refer to him as just 'the Warrior of Light', but if your partner isn't conscientious and has their character ask you what they look like... Just weird. It's a pickle. At this point in time, with all the High profile things the WoL has done everyone should really know what they look like.... A Miqo'te... an Au Ra... whatever they are, our characters should really know, but to be respectful we have to have them feign ignorance.
9. There's almost always a queue on Balmung but there's a relatively simple trick to getting in regardless of your number. You click cancel and try again and it puts you right in. I think the only time I ever had to actually wait for the Queue was on Release day for Heavensward. For me, coming up with a character -specially- when its not for roleplay but story writing starts with what kind of story I want to tell. First I need to figure out the kind of tale, the moral, the essence of what I'm trying to say. The character then becomes a tool to tell that story. A facilitator. What kind of story do you want to write? Start there, then you'll have a better idea of the right character to help you tell that story. Start simple. Shallow. And slowly delve deeper into the meat of the character. Start at the core of the character, and explain how that core came to be. Each question you answer will lead to more and more questions to be answered like a domino effect. If you do this successfully there comes a point where the questions begin to answer themselves, and that's when you know you've a character that stands on its own.

My own Xaela alt practices ritualistic cannibalism, and though I've never enough time to play him he has a similar idea weaved into his backstory. Born a Dotharl, but left behind after a raid he joined a Warband whose shaman preached the believe that you can take with you the soul of your enemy to the afterlife. Like retainers. They do this by what else but consuming the seat of their soul-- their heart. Now if the kill has no value. The enemy weak or soft, the heart is fed to the dogs. Thereby forcing them to follow a dog into the afterlife. Still, there's a big difference between ritualistic cannibalism and hunting Eorzeans for sport. A character who is hunting Eorzeans for sport has a limited shelf-life before it becomes a saturday morning cartoon villain.
11. Awesome! Here's the link for you and any others who would like to volunteer. Remember we're keeping ten percent to help out with making stuff for the FC! Click here to volunteer! And thank you for the offer! I appreciate that. We'll definitely reach out if things get crazy!
12. Bumping this post to let everyone know that as the edit says we've made the decision to postpone this event due to the unforeseen circumstances of an oddly timed scheduled maintenance. Rest assured that this only gives us more time to get everything set just right for a fun social roleplaying event. 3/16/16. We look forward to seeing you there!
13. Translation: will be holding the in-character official opening of the Manticore’s Den Tavern and Inn. Come join us on Wednesday March 16th, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. CST (8:30 p.m. EST) on Goblet 4/30, Balmung Server. *The only part of this event that will be held out of character is an Art Raffle; every individual who attends the event will have their name taken for a raffle. Three winners will be selected at random for individual pictures of the OC with which they attended the event. First Place: Full body flat color sketch. by Xhobits Second Place: Half body flat color sketch. by Mothisms! Third Place: Bust flat color sketch. by Nyx! *Those outside the FC in character may see this flyer and volunteer to work as one-night entertainers, volunteers for the auction, etc. This may be an opportunity for some individuals seeking a way to join or associate with the FC in character to do so. Feel free to employ this as a hook. *Individuals participating in the auction are in no way obligated to more than a social roleplay outing. Any mutually pursued alternatives are unrelated to the Free Company. *Auctions begin at 50k and 10 percent of the final bid on all volunteers will be put towards the renovations and development of the Free Company estate and accommodations for its members. *This beautiful flyer was made by the talented @gunsmith-cat. Thank you so much! **Had a mistype I forgot to correct involving exclusively members versus all volunteers and the percentage that would go towards the company and its members. Thank you very much for your understanding. Update: Due to an unfortunately timed scheduled maintenance we're postponing this event one week. Everything will remain as is but just one week into the future. 3/16/16. We look forward to seeing you there and sorry for the inconvenience!
14. The reason that Nidstinien's skewer was not a killing blow seems simple to me. Nidhogg intended to kill, but Estinien is resisting from within and steers the lance just an inch away from lethal in an act of defiance. Also in 3.4, once we kill Nidhogg, Hraesvalgr will reveal the poorly foreshadowed twist. "There must always be a Nidhogg, Warrior of Light." Then Aymeric becomes the new Nidhogg and we go on to the new expansion.
15. As far as an axe wielding mage imbuing his axe with magic, we've an example in the form of Ser Hermenost of the Heavens' Ward. From Dengeki article here, we have this translation. "A veteran from the previous Lord Commander’s tenure, Hermenost was originally a friar in the service of Halone, and is known as a particularly devout man. Although he wields an axe on the battlefield, he is also a skilled mage, and devised a unique method of combat that involves imbuing his axe with lightning." As an Ishgardian friar he would've learned such magicks in the Scholasticate before refining them into his unique style. You'll note that he's specifically mentioned to be "skilled" as a mage. Thereby, I don't think it's a stretch for a skilled Conjurer to do much the same with Stone and develop some unique way to bend stone about their axe--however useful that may prove. As far as crafting a workable axe from stone on demand using that same uniquely developed magick. My thoughts on that would be that it's -possible-, but would instantly put your character's magical prowess beyond skilled as it follows that it takes a skilled mage just to coat a weapon in lightning then to craft one wholly from an element would take just as much skill if not more.
