As scantly and tight as possible.

I think what he's trying to say is that turning this thread from a search for a Free Company that suits your hours into a call-out thread is disrespectful and inappropriate not only to the person you're calling out but also the people viewing the thread and offering help. This, yes.

That matter between you two should be discussed privately in PM's or such, not by derailing a thread. Please respect that, both of you.

Well, it does have multiple exhaust pipes...

This I can get behind. ^^

While waiting, you are giving Square Enix money for time you don't play, because you are locked out of it. I wouldn't say it is worth that.

Yeah, I've been trying to make me a new alt, but Balmung has been closed these last couple of days even when typically open for new characters. Sucks.

I do like it when my mounts are wrecking my lore... ... sorry.

Of Relic Weapons and the Heavensward Pause
Altitis Acquired replied to Steel Wolf's topic in FFXIV Discussion
In most MMO's, I feel a certain satisfaction when finally reaching a goal or getting a certain item I have had my eyes on... but then afterwards, I'm rather "So... what now then?". More importantly, if you enjoy the journet to get what you want, then I say it's worth it. If you feel like its alot of unnecessary work and hate ever moment of it... I'd advice you to just not do it. -
What Race+Class/Job combination do you prefer?
Altitis Acquired replied to Altitis Acquired's topic in RP Discussion
I also find it a bit odd when a heavy, muscular male Roe or Highlander Hyur is any sort of robe-wielding spellcaster. It just looks a bit odd. But all respect to those who like it and can pull it off. ^^ -
This... Exactly this. It's like when Warlocks in WoW are "best buddies" with their demonic minions. NO! They are DEMONS! You ENSLAVED THEM! They want you DEAD if you didn't have the power to control them! That's what they do!!! It's exactly the same with Voidsent!

My Hyur: Rowdy Rogue. My Elezen: Gentle Soul.

Currently, I have 2 characters: Hyur Midlander who is a Rogue/Ninja, and a Wildwood Elezen who is an Arcanist/Summoner. Being a former World of Warcraft player and having been a roleplayer since I was 12 or so, the way I write a character's personality and background has alot to do with what race and class he is. FFXIV (and FFXI before it) introduced the ability to switch between classes/jobs on the same character... ... However, it is something I am STILL not all that comfortable with. Gameplay wise, I can see how effective it is, but as an RP'er, it disturbs how I form and play my characters. So I still usually have just 1 class/job per character (though I have tried a few other classes with my Elezen, I keep him as an Arcanist/Summoner). And so I ask you guys, what Race and Class/Job combination do you prefer on your characters? Do you have the same "stigma" as I do with having one certain class/job per character, or do you enjoy having your character be every class/job the game has to offer? Maybe you prefer being a certain role, like the Disciple of Magic or only using Tank classes/jobs? BONUS QUESTION!: If you are going to make an Au Ra when the expansion comes out, what main class/job would he/she be?

I have yet to experience it in FFXIV, but I remember back when I played World of Warcraft, there were some people who would like to RP as a "bad guy", summoning demons or being part of the Scourge (the evil undead), and just walked around as any other normal person, talking about these things out in the open. ... but whenever they were confronted with it, they started b*tching about how people didn't accept them playing as these bad guys. Here's the deal though. If you are a bad guy and aren't hiding it, people won't just accept you. Being a bad guy means being an outcast amongst good guys. Makes sense, right? You can't be a bad guy and just pretend it's acceptabe to be that way. It'd be like if The Joker just hung out with Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, talking about the people he recently killed, and just expecting the heroes to accept it. These same rules apply in FFXIV, as the majority of the playerbase are playing as good guys, heroes of Eorzea, fighting for a good cause and defeating the baddies... so if you are someone who deals with the Voidsent, if you are RP'ing as a Garlean spy or if you are someone who has been tempered by a Primal, then you have to expect becoming an outcast amongst others who don't accept you being a bad guy! If you are RP'ing as a bad guy who do or have done either of those things mentioned above, well, then you have to take the consequences. Dealing with Voidsent is bad. If any of my characters would see someone walk around with a Voidsent pet ICly (it's an entire other matter if they do so OOCly), then my character would react upon it, because they know that dealing with the Voidsent is a bad thing. One of them is more accepting to the matter than the other, but neither of them would ignore it. Ignoring it would just be bad RP, imo.

I am going to start an Au Ra fresh out of the bag. I might start a character beforehand and then Fantasia into an Au Ra, just to make sure I can actually play when they are available. It seems every time I want to make a new character, I can't have it join Balmung, so I can't imagine how much worse it would be when the expansion comes out. As to how he would be like, I don't know yet. I need more info about the race, their origins, how they came to Eorzea and why. However, I do have a slight idea on how he's going to be like, personality wise, but nothing is finite though. ^^

That just encourages people to do it though.

It's alright if you are just a regular badass. You don't have to be uber. ^^
-
Have you guys seen FF7: Advent Children? Alot of guns are being used, but the rules are different in the world of Final Fantasy. If you are badass enough, dodging bullets, parrying them, cutting them in halves etc. are all part of your skillset. A bullet still kills, but there are ways to avoid getting killed by one, just like there are ways to avoid getting killed by a blade.

The Au Ra biology, origin and general speculation thread!
Altitis Acquired replied to Eve Malusion's topic in RP Discussion
I would love it if the Au Ra turns out to be more demonic than draconic, simply because I like demons alot more than dragons. And I quite like your theory on it. However, if it does indeed turn out that they are draconic, crossbreed is just one theory, which you said would be unlikely, but could still happen. A humanoid and a dragon falling in love in ancient times which lead to the Au Ra race could be a simple origin story. Another theory could be that a group of people worshipped some dragon god who granted them some of his power which would turn them into his likeness, and thus the Au Ra came to be. Or maybe a dragon god created the Au Ra for a higher purpose. I prefer the demonic origin you suggested though. -
I love this game. And I always romance Dorian. <3

People on this forum is awfully rude to eachother, without any real reason other than disagreeing over certain topics.
-
Well, that, and the fact they are alot taller and alot more muscular than the females.
-
Perhaps we are all looking at this wrong... It was mentioned by a first time poster who I will look up and Rep here in as second that they look almost demonic. I am inclined to agree. To me neither of the genders look bestial in comparison to Charr and Aman. HOWEVER, they do look demonic... and if you note the horn direction on the succubus from Haukke manor... it matches the female horns of Au Ra. Perhaps we are off on the origin... They also share the frighteningly haunting look. (I am aware they Succubus in the dungeon has ears and the horns don't replace them, but they have an eerie similarity.) I would absolutely love it if they were demonic rather than draconic... however, it seems like they're definately half-dragons.
-
Others probably have said this before, but I think the female Au Ras look like evil female Miqo'tes. I do like the size difference, but the overall shape of the females are very close to the miqo's.

Poll: Au Ra and your character, what will you do?
Altitis Acquired replied to Blue's topic in RP Discussion
Well, it is canon to lore that Au Ra's have ninjas... maybe I should change my ninja-alt into an Au Ra then. Hmm... I was thinking of making a new Au Ra Dragoon though, because SUPER ORIGINAL IDEA!!! (or not.) Or most likely a Dark Knight, because they look super cool and it'll give me an excuse to try out being a tank for once. ^^
