  1. Hey guys. Sorry for this stupid, grammar-nazi thread, but I've noticed alot of people making this mistake. I've seen people around calling Au Ra in plural form for Auri, but that's the adjective form. To those who don't know what that means, it's when you describe something being of Au Ra origin. For example: "I found this Auri tome on the bookshelf." Here's where I know this from: "The adjectival form of Au Ra is Auri (Pronounced Ow-Ree), while the plural appears to be Au Ra." - http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Au_Ra Fernehalwes of the dev team have also mentioned that Auri is the adjective: "2. Hyur is Hyuran. Lalafell is Lalafellin. What on Earth Hydaelyn is the adjectival form of Au Ra? This one's a little special. Instead of just tacking an 'n' to the end of Ra, the term takes on a slight metamorphosis. Au Ra -> Auri (pronounced Ow-ree, rhymes with Maori). Example: "An Auri warrior can eat a whole turkey in a single sitting." - http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/211564-Au-Ra-physiology-and-other-lore.?p=2825255&viewfull=1#post2825255 And the flavourtext as shown in the benchmark's character creation about the Au Ra, though it could be misunderstood, does indeed seem to me that it is an adjective and indeed not the plural form, as the plural is shown in the words "males and females": And again on the Heavensward official page, showing the same flavourtext, but also for both clans, as the first words are "Auri creation", showing it as an adjective once more: - http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/heavensward/ >Lore>New Race So yeah, anyways, just thought I'd point it out. I personally care alot about getting the correct grammar down, so if there's others like me out there, I hope this helps. ^^
  2. I hate that you can't lie where ever you want, but only on certain furniture. That and magnet-butt, meaning if you're close to a chair and perform /sit, instead of sitting where you are, it moves you to the chair. It's small things, but it annoys me to no end.
  3. I demand pictures of Au Ra cuddling. ...MAKE IT HAPPEN, INTERNET. Patience. There will be plenty Au Ra cuddling soon enough. They just need to be made playable first.
  4. Her gunblades not cannonically accurate. It's just a event prop. I know, it was a weak attempt at making a funny. Also, her weapon changes between sword and gun, not being both at the same time, so yeah. I kinda like Yazoo's weapons in FF7: Advent Children which are a pair of handguns with attached blades on them, useful for both ranged and melee fighting. I find Squall's gunblade to be the weaker form of the gunblades, because as you say, it doesn't actually shoot, it just gives the sword attacks some kind of strength boost. And though that's also cool, I'd rather have it like Devil May Cry 4, Nero's sword which has an accelerator handle, like on a motorcycle. Giving it a few wringes to boost up the sword's power. With the Machinist and the progressive technology in Eorzea, all these things could become reality though... that is if Squeenix wants it.
  5. Well, we get that gunblade from the Lightning event... So there already is a gunblade in-game.
  6. "Oh look, a door has opened that wasn't open before. I wonder what is on the other si-HOLY MOTHER MENPHINA! A WHOLE NEW WOOOOOOORLD! A NEW FANTASTIC POINT OF VIE-Ouwwie! Why are you poking me? Yes, I was singing, so what? Anyways, let's check this place out..." ... Basically this.
  7. Is he gay? It's important for what my character would do with him as thanks. ;P
  8. Totally agreed. ^^ Anyways, your story is nice. Good job.
  9. Just had my first run in World of Darkness. Was in Alliance C, and they were really cool and helpful! Thanks for that. ^^
  10. Definately not bad. However, some people would most likely point out that it couldn't have been a White Mage that aided him, because of the White Mage lore. Apparently, only Padjali and The Hero of Light are able to be real White Mages, as everyone else attempting to be so turns insane. But that can easily be corrected by saying a Conjurer came for his aid. ^^
  11. I am so ashamed of myself for not posting this gif in my post when explaining my character's relationship:
  12. Oh, well, there you go. I actually thought it t be true. Damn you for messing with my head! But yeah, my point still stands though.
  13. To be honest, I do think it's a rather douchebag move by Sqeenix to make such restrictions on the class lore. "You can be a White Mage, but ONLY if you a Padjal (which you can't be) or if you are a Warrior of Light (which you can't be either)." "You can be a Dragoon, but ONLY if you are an Elezen (or Hyur?) from Ishgard." "You can be a Black Mage, but EVERYONE will hate you, because it is illegal." "You can be a Dark Knight, but ONLY if you are one of the 12 that exists, and that means you HAVE to be that singular Warrior of Light chosen to be (which you cannot be)." So yeah, I would rather bend the lore a bit and work around it rather than being an elitist about it, because as mentioned earlier, it is just too restrictive.
  14. Well, if Dark Knights are ONLY those 12, then just be a warrior who wields a two-hand sword and wields the power of the void. A Dark Knight in every aspect other than actually being a Dark Knight. Be creative.
  15. Well, it usually starts with... And there's alot of this...
  16. So, what are our OOC reasons to pick the powers for out characters? Uhm, well, for my Summoner, it's because I've always liked the summons of the Final Fantasy franchise. Having the power to summon forth a magical beast with great power to fight by your side... the concept just seems so awesome to me! So imagine my disappointment when realizing all we got was those Egi forms! I understand the lore reasons for it, but I am still disappointed that all we got was small crystalline shapes rather than the ferocious beasts themselves, like we did in FFXI. That said, I still enjoy the class. My first MMO was World of Warcraft and I immediately fell in love with the Warlock, and the Arcanist/Summoner is kinda FFXIV's equivelant to that. And I also like the idea of having someone tank the mobs for me while I am throwing hurt from a safe distance. ... Which I guess kinda conflicts with my alt's choice of class/job, which is the Ninja. I have just always had a fascination with ninjas and assassins, being able to hide in the shadows and attacking unseen, dual-wielding cool weapons and their acrobatic fighting style. So when the Rogue/Ninja became available, I wanted to give it a go, and I ended up really enjoying it.
  17. Try calling people on your Linkshells. I'm not part of any linkshell or free company. But it's alright, finally got a group who could do it!
  18. I'm stuck at Steps of Faith right now in the MSQ. Got really close one time, but have yet to complete it. Always wiping, people leaving, have to re-queue, again and again and again... *sigh*
  19. Seriously looks like Lego Batman with better textures.
  20. That's more a typical Western trope though, is it not? Like with Captain Planet and My Little Pony. Off topic, it's a big Japanese RPG trope, right up there with killing your gods. Do you even Final Fantasy brah? Actually there are a lot more examples of that trope being played straight from Anime/Manga than Western shows on the TV Tropes page for it. Especially when it comes to those Magical Girl ones--they never quite have the power to shoot the biggest lasers without charging up the ol' Inner Monologue o' Friendship. Captain Planet was way more realistic actually. To defeat pollution, you put together five magical rings, and by their powers combined you summon someone else to deal with it. On topic, I tend to make characters who have limited or typical abilities but the intellect to use them in creative ways. A lot of crazy stuff can be deduced out of the lore for what people are basically capable of if they try. Now that can be more of a challenge than leaning on a more nebulous source of power or experience, but that's part of the fun. Oh, I thought you meant friendship being an actual power, like "pew pew, I wield the power of Friendship!", and not the actual moral boost friendship can give you in a realistic way. Are you saying the Heart of the Cards isn't an actual power, you fiend? I dunno what that is.
