I've been getting quite a number of reports about the text editor lately so I wanted to give a tutorial of sorts on it and show you all the neat tricks to use with it. The RPC is now loaded with essentially THREE different text editors, along with the option to not have a text editor at all. The three are as follows: MyCode Editor--This is the "default" for our forum software (MyBB). Be default, your editor SHOULDN'T be on this since I have it set to another editor by default, but it could be if you unintentionally set it there. It looks like this: SCEditor--This is what your default should be on. It is a 'what you see is what you get' type of editor. By that, I mean it shows your code changes in live mode. So if you change your text color to red, the editor shows it as red. And so on. It looks like this: SCEditor (source mode)--This is the same exact editor as above, with one exception. It doesn't show changes live. Instead, you'll see the actual bbcodes such as red You can change what your individual default editor is set to via your profile under "Edit Options." In the lower right corner box here, there's a drop-down menu to select which one you want. Please note, it will ALWAYS show "MyCode editor" as the initial choice. This doesn't necessarily mean that's what your editor is set to. The dropdown menu is bugged and simply shows that as the first option. So if you make other changes in your Edit Options, be sure to always reselect your desired editor so it doesn't default back to MyCode editor (unless you want that editor of course). In the SCEditor, you'll also notice a little icon in the second row that looks like a piece of paper (very last icon). Clicking this allows you to temporarily change your editor between source mode and non-source mode on a whim. This can be helpful with complex text formatting. Just keep in mind that there are known bugs related to this. Some coding (like lists) duplicate themselves out of nowhere when you switch modes and can mess up the formatting slightly so be mindful of that. Please note that the MyCode editor has no known bugs. But it is technically still inferior to the SCEditor in what it's capable of doing. If you have any questions about the editor, please feel free to ask!

It's extra funny because the part with Ky could very well be considered canon since he modeled one time for a calendar back when he was like 17. It was mentioned ICly once toward the start of 1.0 even

Gaining Tempo Nefron sighed as she looked over the parchment, her eyes then gazing about the elegant but empty foyer before returning to her husband. “Darling, are you sure about this? It’s so expensive…” Cartius smiled warmly at the well dressed priestess. “Money is no object when it comes to my family. You know that, love. Are you having second thoughts about moving to Ul’dah…?” The woman gently tucked a strand of her black hair behind her ear and smiled warmly at Cartius. “Not at all. We’ve already discussed this. Ul’dah is your home, and Kylin’s. It’s best for both of you and for the family that House Felstar build itself anew here. And with the troubles in Ishgard, it’s only logical. Besides, it’ll be easier to manage the museum from here and I’m actually looking forward to working with the church here. It’ll be a wonderful new experience.” Cartius moved to the nearly empty table where the parchment rested, glancing over it for likely the hundredth time. “I’m sorry if you’re disappointed in me, love.” “You know I’m not,” Nefron stated with a firm expression on her face. “You are a businessman. The priesthood was something you were always uncomfortable with. Far be it from me or Islude to force something down your throat you don’t enjoy. I’m looking forward to this move.” Cartius smiled as he picked up a quill sitting next to the parchment and signed the bottom of the page. “Then it’s done. This mansion is now our new home. House Felstar will build its new foundation here and become a force to be reckoned with.” Elza sat on the edge of her sofa within her Gridania cabin, legs crossed. Her indigo hair flowed freely behind her in slight curls. She wore a tight fitting leather jerkin with matching leather pants, watching quietly as an elezen man carried a crate full of paper boats out of the cabin. The duskwight set the crate onto the porch before returning to the noblewoman. “That’s the last of ‘em. Lloyd said all the locks are changed and reinforced too. So all should be good as new, m’lady!” Elza tilted her head, gazing toward the kitchen as the hyur known as Lloyd eyed a fresh apple in a fruit basket on the table. “Good. Let’s hope your locks work better than the last ones, for your sake. And if that Deirdre woman Kylin mentioned has the gall to return to my home and pollute it again, I’ll personally see to it that the harlot leaves in a body bag.” The indigo-haired beauty glanced again to the kitchen, where Lloyd had finally conjured the courage to pick up the apple he was eyeing. Elza sighed quietly before reaching behind her for a small but elegantly crafted crossbow, knocking an arrow and letting it fly with deadly accuracy and speed. The arrow pierced the apple while it was still in Lloyd’s hand, attaching it to the opposite wall just as the hungry hyur went to take a bite. The man looked dazed, his eyes slowly moving to notice the arrow that could have easily pierced his skull. “It’s not polite to help yourself to someone else’s belongings without permission,” Elza stated with an icy gaze at the gulping hyur. “Especially considering my current state of emotions over the elezen bitch my brother told me all about. Now be a doll and clean up the mess you forced me to make.” Lloyd nodded with a faint sigh and carefully took the arrow out of the wall as a couple of burly roegadyn entered the cabin, one of them chuckling as he watched Elza put her bow away. “Well, all is set madame. What now?” Elza smiled sweetly at the men in her living room. “Now we setup base and gather intel. A lot has happened since we’ve been gone it seems. It’s going to take time to get situated again. I think charity work will suit Sanctum well. There are plenty of orphans and war veterans who no doubt still need assistance following the damage from Dalamud. And House Felstar will certainly benefit from the positive publicity as an added boon.” “Charity work,” the duskwight elezen said with a slight grunt. Elza glared hard at the man. “There’s nothing wrong with helping those who need help. It will certainly not sway us from our main objective either way if that’s what you’re concerned about. Now then…I have a meeting with my father soon and he prefers to not see any of you as much as you all prefer to not see him.” The men took the cue and scurried out of the cabin, one of the roegadyn bowing properly to Elza before exiting. Lloyd scurried out last, biting his lower lip and muttering something about not having eaten since morning. “Good to be home again,” Elza said with a faint smirk as she twirled a single strand of her hair around her index finger. “Now to make the best of it on all fronts.” Kylin panted heavily, wiping sweat from his brow as he hunched over in slight pain. The outdoor La Noscea breeze was the only thing keeping him from passing out. His muscles felt like they were ready to tear apart. The tight fitting leather armor wasn’t helping matters any. After taking a moment to recuperate, he charged with blade in hand toward the masked miqo’te standing across from him. The woman easily evaded the attack and then followed up by sweeping her feet under the hyur’s legs and sending him to the ground with a loud thud. Without hesitating, she pinned him to the ground and placed her dagger close to his throat. “You’re not being nearly aggressive enough,” she stated with a sigh. “Were I a real enemy, you’d be dead by now Kylin.” Vertigo put her dagger away and helped the clearly exhausted hyur back up. Kylin continued to pant, gazing up at the miqo’te. “How the hell are you not at all worn out yet?” “I’ve been doing this for a long time,” Vertigo said in a soft tone. “All you need is more practice. You’re improving slow and steady.” The blond hyur plopped his back up against a tree in order to keep himself propped up, his panting gradually slowing. “You and Elza both make it look so easy.” A faint chuckle was audible under Vertigo’s mask. “Well you’re certainly more accomplished in the magical realm in comparison to either of us. So no need to beat yourself up. Your focus was merely on another area of expertise all this time. I applaud you for wanting to learn more physical combat.” Kylin reached down for a cup of water sitting beneath the tree and took a sip. “After awhile, one gets tired of feeling helpless all the time…” “Oh Kylin,” Vertigo said with a motherly sigh. “There are always going to be times when one is completely helpless, regardless of how strong one is. All you can do is prepare yourself in every possible way that your mind, body, and soul can take and then hope the preparations are enough. Now then…come at me again but mean it this time.” Kylin nodded and readied his sword once more before rushing toward the masked miqo’te with fire in his eyes.

Capture About two moons later… The well groomed waiter placed the tray of food onto the table, dispersing the contents appropriately to the two guests before walking away while dusting off his apron. The two occupants were alone in the eatery’s private room, the feint sound of slow music playing outside the chamber. The male was a somewhat husky hyur with yellow and white robes of the finest silk. His short auburn hair was neatly groomed, as it would be with any noble. The husky man smiled at his date across the table, a bluish skinned female miqo’te with long white hair in beautifully prepared curls. Her yellowish eyes had a feral look in them and she wore a modestly tight black strapped dress to match her beautiful figure. The woman took a sip from her wine glass and then purred at the man across the table. “What a delightful meal this is. I certainly didn’t expect a private chamber in this restaurant. The quiet atmosphere is just lovely though, Balor. Thank you again.” “No need for thanks,” the husky Balor said with a faint smile as he took a bite from his meal and downed it with a sip of wine. “A woman of your fine caliber deserves naught but the best. What better way to get to know one another than somewhere quiet and peaceful like this? Speaking of getting to know one another, I’ve been meaning to ask you…that scar on your face, where did you get it from?” The noble continued to eat his meal, an occasional sip of wine to down it as he did so. The miqo’te watched him for a brief second before responding to his question. “Oh this hideous thing? An accident from my childhood. I apologize if it’s unappealing.” “Not unappealing at all. It’s actually quite endearing. Besides, we all have our battle scars.” The woman raised an eyebrow. “With all due respect, you don’t seem the type to be in the battlefield.” Balor coughed faintly, gently patting his chest as the miqo’te watched him carefully. His eyes watered slightly, possibly from the strong wine. The noble shook off the sensation and smiled at the woman. “Battlefield is a very subjective term. I may not be active in physical battle, but the political battles amongst the elite in Ul’dah are ever meticulous. Many look at the wealthy as individuals who didn’t earn what we have. But we do fight for what we have.” The man coughed again before taking another sip of wine to attempt soothing the sensation. The miqo’te smiled faintly before she spoke. “I couldn’t agree more. I hear that’s how you obtained the museum that you now own. You went through a rather big legal battle after it was auctioned off, yes?” Balor’s eyes lit up at the mention of his precious museum. “Ah, yes! The Avalon Heritage Museum. Perhaps my grandest acquisition yet. When House Mavanix crumbled prior to Dalamud's coming, they left their resources up for grabs. And then that Cartius fellow comes back from the beyond or whatever and tried to reclaim what I spent an absurd amount of gil on. Thankfully the law of Ul’dah was on my side. And now the museum and all its wondrous artifacts belong to me.” The woman tilted her head ever so slightly, seeming amused by the story. “I hear the museum was a precious family commodity to the Mavanix clan with roots extending to the Felstar family as well. It’s only natural that Cartius would want it back I suppose. But at least you’ll eventually be able to pass it down to the next generation of your family and forge new family roots, yes?” The man shrugged, patting his chest again after another cough. “I have no legal heir to take the museum after my time. And my ex-wife and I have long been divorced.” The miqo’te took a sip of her wine, gazing intently at the man across the table. “That’s a pity. I do wonder what will happen to the museum then. And if Cartius were to ever learn of your lack of any legal heir, he may feel inclined to strike at you before you can name one.” Balor chuckled, taking a bite from his marmot steak and chewing it before speaking. “Let the Felstar do his worst. I do not fear him. As for your concern about the future of the museum, worry not. I could care less what happens to it after I’m gone. Why should I? Besides, I intend to live a long and healthy life.” The miqo’te’s lips curled into a faint smile, Balor’s cough suddenly beginning to intensify. The man grasped his chest as his face revealed a great look of pain. He tried to speak but couldn’t, firmly grasping at the table before falling out of his chair to the ground. All the while, the miqo’te seemed completely unfazed, sipping her wine and watching the man with utter indifference. After a moment of watching the man struggle, the white-haired keeper of the moon finally rose from her seat and strode to the gasping noble, carefully kneeling beside him while keeping her pretty black dress as neat as possible. “The Avalon Heritage Museum was initially fully funded by Lady Anabelle Felstar,” the woman chided the man softly. “It was safeguarded by the Mavanix clan, who kept it to themselves for generations. The museum is an entity that is steeped in familial roots. You are undeserving of such an inheritance. Lord Cartius gives his apologies for it having to come to this. But your death prior to the naming of a legal heir opens the door for a variety of state laws that favor House Felstar’s reacquisition of the museum.” Balor stared in horror at the woman, weakly reaching out to her as she easily swatted his hand away. The noble tried to desperately scream for help but was unable to make a sound as the poison paralyzed him further. In a matter of moments, he was completely still. The man’s eyes slowly closed themselves as his breathing came to a halt. Vertigo stared at the corpse a moment with a passive gaze before rising to her feet. She stepped over his body and took one more sip from her wine glass before composing herself. “It’s show time.” The miqo’te’s smile turned into a feigned look of horror as she let out a staged bloodcurdling scream that resonated through the entire restaurant. The noble's tragic death would be ruled as a heart attack, with no suspicion of foul play. A legal battle would ensue over the next couple moons in which the museum would eventually be returned to the possession of one Cartius Felstar...

As much as I would like this to be a happy intro...
Kylin replied to MadelineZeplin's topic in Welcome Desk
That wiki pulls your username/password based on whatever it was on the old RPC forums. I couldn't tell you that info unfortunately, though you shouldn't need it. You can go to the page and click "view source" to see all the formatting code as a guest for easy copy/pasting. The current wiki is the same way. It uses your old forum account info for a login. So unless you have an old account still active here, you won't be able to login to it yet. I'd suggest keeping your profile on a text editor or something until the updated wiki is put up, in which case you just login as you would these forums. I know it's all rather confusing. The wiki transition is a mess right now . It'll all be worked out soon enough. Alternatively, you can just PM myself or post here with what you want on the current wiki and we'll copy/paste it for you. -

Hi Maliea. We indeed did move to a new wiki (and are about to do so again). It was necessary in order to get past a bunch of spaghetti code accumulated over 2 years. The old wiki with your stuff still exists, though it's not in use and is only still up for this very reason You can find it here: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wiki2 Welcome back  -
I'm fairly close to being complete with this now. All the hard work is out of the way (coding). All that's really left is styling, which isn't hard at all. I also need to figure out what exactly people want in the linkshell sidebar aside from just website. I know there's currently a discussion about RP style going on. What other things do people generally want to see first and foremost about a linkshell aside from the website? Primary timezone? Whether it's recruitment is open/closed/invite only? Something else? Also want to give this heads up: When the section officially launches, a new featured article will be up that will begin a contest to create your own fake RP shell. Everyone will be eligible to participate and the winner will be decided based on a public poll. The winning fake Rp shell will be used as the permanent sample linkshell in the FAQs and the creator will gain a date with the character of their choice. Okay, maybe not that last part >.>. Wish I could come up with a greater reward. I was actually hoping an artist (or multiple artists) would volunteer to do a free sketch for the winner, should any be willing. That outta get people involved  More details about this contest to come later, but start thinking about it now~. Your fake shell can be as silly or serious as you want but details will surely matter if you want votes!

Oh my goodness, I may have to jump on the bandwagon and see if I can get added to the waiting list  I've got two characters that I have practically no art of so if you'd be willing to do either one, I'd love you long time~ Kylin: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Kylin_Felstar Elza: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Elza_Ashfen

A word to the wise: The code used for listing items in posts Such as this and this Has been the cause of numerous recent post format problems. Please ensure that whenever using the list feature that the bullet point is ALWAYS outside of any other formatting code. For example, this is appropriate:

Item one.
Item two.
This is not appropriate and will cause problems next time you try to edit your post by cutting things off:

Item one.
Item two.
Note: This is only an issue with the SCEditor and SCEditor Source editor modes. It is not an issue with the lesser mode if you opt to use that one. Another bug with the list feature is that when you switch between source mode and default mode while in the edit post screen, asterisks are constantly added into the post and can mess things up. Please keep this in mind. I've reported this issue to the MyBB team and am awaiting a resolution and/or updated version of the text editor.

New MMO Roleplay community - Building bridges
Kylin replied to The Shield's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Very cool. Didn't know about this so it's nice to know now. I, like Aysun, am 100% devoted to only FFXIV when it comes to the MMO world. But I've always been fascinated all the same with other MMO RP communities and comparing/contrasting ourselves to them. This is also a great way for other RP communities to obtain ideas for their communities when it comes to things like events and whatnot. Edit: Hurray for being the only existing RP coalition that doesn't use Enjin! We're special -
While the section is still largely under development, I wanted to show the progress that I've made so far. In this way, you can all see exactly what I'm trying to accomplish for this particular section. Note: Content is still under development and subject to change (styling especially is going to change a bit). Secondary note: I'm considering letting EVERYONE test the section when it launches with a "create your own fake RP shell" contest 8-) Pictures are worth a thousand words so here's a peak!

Just a heads up. I managed to successfully bridge the wiki with the new forum software. Or rather, the bridge is working with the new wiki. Yes, we're moving the wiki again due to a necessary cleanup of codes/categories due to the way the original wiki programmers made everything...but don't worry. All the transferring will be done for you this time so you don't have to do anything. So keep adding/editing stuff to the current wiki as you normally would. I doubt anything graphically will change much either so you probably won't notice a huge change overall. Basically, the bridge means that one can login to the wiki with their forum credentials as they could with the old site. The current wiki is still drawing from the old forum database and that's the only reason you guys can still login to it. New users can't login or even create new accounts, but this has officially been confirmed to be fixable.

Now that the site has been up for a couple days now and dust is settling, I wanted to give people an opportunity to give further suggestions for features/tweaks. Please note, I will NOT completely overhaul anything major at this point. I think everyone is pretty content with the general layout and appearance of things anyway. However, I'm sure there may be some little thing that might bother people that they want added/modified. If so, this is the place to make the suggestion! You can also report bugs here as well. I will take everything into consideration, but that doesn't mean I'll go through with it. I may feel it's way too difficult to do, won't flow well with the site, or so on. But I'd at least like to hear ideas anyway just in case I can do something about it.
-
It's almost here~. If you're not a Legacy member, signup while you still can.
-
Welcome! You chose the perfect time to signup since today was the launch of the new site I think I actually remember you from Zam. You wanted ideas for events back then, right?
-
Thank you everyone! I've definitely learned a lot about site design since our first RPC . The fact that our old RPC was scored a lousy 56% compared to the 85% this site scored at a major site scan is quite telling. Ellie was great with all the imagery as well. So be sure to thank her too! She also gave a name to that little messenger moogle who flies the banner on our featured articles titles: Mogwin Aurelius Kupoppo III I'm still working on some little bugs here and there so bear with me and please report anything you find that's not listed in the "known bugs" in the OP. Aysun was nice enough to volunteer to clean up the Directory area since all the post formatting was broken during the database merge, so you all should be in good shape there. Be sure to check your signatures (I saw a -ton- of broken formats there) and whatnot. If you had odd characters in your username, it could have been broken (Noelle, for example, turned into Noëlle). I'll fix anything as I find it but if I miss you somehow, just send me an email at . I'll be focusing on the wiki and linkshell sections next, though they shouldn't be too bad (especially with Deir and Gospel so enthusiastic to handle the wiki 8-) ).

Oh snap. That Gerik is hawt :dazed:

Kylin Felstar It began with an excavation. Or so I'm told. Kylin, known as Castiel Mavanix at the time, was always seeking his father's approval. As such, helping with the daily running of House Mavanix at the time came naturally to him. Assigned the task to oversee an excavation led by House Mavanix's team known as Avalon, Kylin would seek to prove himself to house patriarch Cartius by finding the necessary keys to unlock a sealed gate discovered in the excavation site. The search for these keys led the youth to a cult known as the Order of the Stormguard. Believing the cult to be potentially involved with his excavation project (and further intrigued by his father's past inability to acquire the group's innermost secrets), Kylin manipulated his way into the inner circle by taking advantage of the Sundering--a deadly massacre against the Stormguard by unknown assailants. Vulnerable and trying to rebuild, Highguard Keir Loell allowed Kylin into the group, oblivious to the young man's true intentions at first. As time passed, Kylin rose in rank within the Stormguard and edged ever closer to achieving his goal of uncovering their secrets. He also met a myriad of individuals during this time, including on and off again rival Oria Argall, childhood friend Seraphine Winter, and more. As time passed, Keir became more aware of Kylin's true intentions. Tensions between the two are said to have heightened to a point where Keir was put into a situation where he went toe-to-toe in battle with the deadly Mavanix/Felstar assassin, Vertigo. Eventually, Kylin abandoned his ill intentions against the Stormguard. It still remains unclear why, though it's believed he had started to care for its members, including Keir Loell. When the cult crumbled mysteriously later down the line, it was Kylin who sealed some of the remaining Stormguard relics (excluding its keepsake sword, which Seraphine had sent to the vanishing Keir) in a hidden location known only to him. It was around this time that a new organization began its brief rise in glory. Known as Outer Heaven, the mercenary company was created by three powerful nobles: Batgroob Dok, Rebecca Winter, and Cartius Mavanix. Seraphine and Kylin oversaw the group's leadership in place of their respective parents. Eva Ianeira was recruited to round off the company as the leader of the fourth pillar. Numerous well known adventurers joined the company, helping in the company's quick rise in prominence as they tackled various missions for the group. Kylin and Seraphine would forever be set on a new path as a result of these missions... It was during a mission that the group encountered a member of a dangerous cult known as Decretum Umbra--a secretive branch of the Mavanix family who sought to reclaim their 'stolen birthright.' Ekidnah Mavanix led the group into a deadly trap in Mun Tuy Cellars, where Kylin was nearly killed. She also revealed here that Seraphine was actually the daughter of Cartius and as such, Kylin's half-sister. Hoping the secret would cause devastation to House Mavanix's image, Ekidnah's plan backfired as Cartius eagerly accepted Seraphine into his life while vowing revenge against Rebecca Winter for keeping the secret all these years. Outer Heaven faced off against other members of Decretum Umbra, including the deadly magician Marvani Mavanix and the cult's leader, Lemdarva Mavanix -- an equally deadly necromancer. Overcoming challenge after challenge, the mercenaries would fight a fierce battle with the group's summoned matriarch, Carmilla Mavanix, at the Avalon Heritage Museum that nearly cost them their lives when the sorceress attempted to activate the Soulfire Apparatus artifact. After this battle, Cartius withdrew his support from Outer Heaven and allowed it to rapidly crumble, revealing that he may have used the group as a weapon against Decretum Umbra from the beginning. Seraphine's mother was also mysteriously murdered in a mansion fire during this time. Kylin, having lost Stormguard, his leadership at Outer Heaven, his excavation project due to Cartius ending the project he originally put his son in charge of, became furious at his father for "undermining" Kylin's potential achievements. Their relationship became increasingly strained as Kylin rebelled against the patriarch and changed his name from Castiel, among other various rebellious acts. During this time, the Mavanix Mansion came under attack from a mysterious enemy. Cartius was believed to be murdered, devastating Kylin. House Mavanix's future became unclear, though most assumed Kylin would become the new patriarch. Shockingly, Cartius's will named Elza Ashfen, a secret daughter nobody had known about, as the new matriarch of the house. House Mavanix's race to the end had thus begun, though none had realized it yet. Kylin grew close to Elza due to the disappearance and believed death of their other sister, Seraphine. Turmoil began to tear House Mavanix apart. The Mavanix Academy crumbled first when the dean's betrayal against the house revealed shocking horrors involving experiments hidden beneath the school. After the dean's failed attempt to oust Elza, Margarah fashion line leaders Nina and Kalara Mavanix (sisters of Cartius) made their own attempt to remove her from power in a fashion duel challenge to prove who was worthy to lead the house's fashion line. Elza manipulated the mercenaries known as Everwatch into representing her in the duel and even manipulated the selection of the judging panel in hopes of giving Everwatch a better chance at winning. After Elza's victory, Nina and Kalara were killed in a horrible airship crash the same night, and most of the House Mavanix was massacred during an emergency family meeting. Only Ekidnah Mavanix (now a friend of the house), Elza, Kylin, and Xaliel Mavanix (cousin of Elza and Kylin) survived the attack. House Mavanix continued to rapidly crumble as Vertigo assassinated the leader of the Mavanix Templars and manipulated Corvus Cinis, Shimmersong, and other mercenaries into severing the ties between the house and their powerful allies, a goblin tribe known by the house as "GIN" (Goblin Information Network). In time, Xaliel Mavanix was setup by Vertigo to be seen as the culprit behind the house's fall. The mercenaries confronted him after he kidnapped Kylin and attempted to sacrifice him in order to finish Decretum's Umbra objective and activate the house's powerful artifact, the Soulfire Apparatus. Xaliel was killed in the confrontation, his own blood activating the artifact and releasing the trapped soul of the first Mavanix patriarch, Joachim Mavanix, who took temporary possession of Kylin's body. Joachim then promptly summoned the other former spirits of the Mavanix clan, including Veronica Mavanix. The mercenaries battled furiously against the ghosts with little luck until they used the aether beneath the house against the vengeful spirits, destroying the mansion in the process. Racing off to save Kylin from Joachim's clutches, the mercenaries did battle with the 200 year old spirit and ended up claiming victory eventually, releasing Kylin from the former patriarch's grasp. Shortly after this, Elza discovered who the real manipulator behind the house's fall was--a "Cardinal Felstar" of Ishgard. When rumor surfaced of the cardinal's pilgrimage into Thanalan, Elza wasted no time in sending the mercenaries to confront him once and for all in a last ditch effort to save the nearly collapsed house. They came face to face with Vertigo and Cartius Mavanix, who was in fact quite alive. Cartius revealed that he was in fact a Felstar, not a Mavanix, stolen at birth by House Mavanix due to internal family drama. He also revealed other atrocities that House Mavanix committed against his real family (House Felstar), stating that he faked his death in order to quietly orchestrate his revenge from behind the scenes. After revealing all of his schemes, the Felstar patriarch unleashed the demon Juravis against the group and then proceeded to let Ul'dahn authorities aware of Elza's being ineligible for inheriting House Mavanix per his will due to being a Felstar. Juravis was defeated in battle, but no proof would exist to pin Cartius for the crimes. Kylin was overjoyed at this father being alive and dismissed the atrocities in order to rejoin his new family in Ishgard. Elza, on the other hand, was furious at the manipulations and deparated Eorzea by ship just as House Mavanix fell once and for all. Attempting to 'fix' his father's schemes against the mercenaries, Kylin joined the mercenary group Shimmersong. It was here that he began to spend time with Gerik Aston, an energetic highlander. The two became close friends quickly and it didn't take long before they fell in love and began a relationship. Kylin also began to spend more time with Crystalline, a pearl given to him by old friend Eva Ianeira after Outer Heaven fell. When Deirdre entered the picture and began spending an intense amount of time with Gerik, Kylin started to grow intimidated by her and feared she was trying to take Gerik away from him. He continued to feel threatened by the woman even after she saved his life from an assassination attempt by Lemdarva Mavanix. At the Full Cold Moon gala, Kylin made arrangements for him and Gerik to leave Eorzea by ship. Using the coming Garlean threat and the impending doom of Dalamud, the young man managed to easily persuade Gerik to join him on the ship after the gala ended. In reality, he only wanted to forever separate Gerik and Deirdre from one another. The plan would never come to light though as disaster struck the gala when a stray meteor shower from Dalamud wreaked havoc upon the happy event. The impact from the meteors caused the aether beneath the ground to go chaotic, erupting and engulfing a number of adventurers. Kylin was among those swallowed by the aether, believed to be dead, as everyone struggled to survive the horror all around them. The aether teleported Kylin out to Coerthas, though he remained in bad shape. Cartius and Vertigo managed to track him down and quickly returned to Ishgard with the comatose youth. Immediately upon arriving, House Felstar packed their belongings and departed the city for a private island safely tucked away from the Garlean threat. There, Kylin remained comatose for several weeks. The Battle of Cartenau came and went, and Kylin was left to believe that Gerik and the rest of his shell mates and acquaintances were dead. So came an end to a long and dramatic chapter. But the real story had only just begun... ~House butler, to a young Felstar

This thread is intended to allow individuals to summarize what their characters have been through from the launch of 1.0 up to the servers going down in order to give others a view of what's been happening in the RP community up until now. This information should not be used for any metagaming purposes. It is considered OOC information unless implied otherwise. Those NOT in the time warp at the end of 1.0, please do NOT summarize anything that happened after the Cataclysm. That will be a separate thread closer to the game's open beta. This is 1.0 summaries onry! Also, refrain from divulging your entire backstory from childhood onward. This is meant only for the two year timespan that 1.0 was running. Those interested in full backstories can go to the wiki for that. To make things more fun, please try to post your summary in the same/similar format as the featured article related to this thread. By that, I mean write it out as if a future Eorzean scholar or the character's future relative is telling the story to someone. Note: Some people may have much longer summaries than others due to being in the game longer. I'll get us started in the massive post below (I've been here forever so my summary is long even after cutting out parts >.>; ) Table of Contents: Kylin Felstar Volkai Nailo Kannadi Albedo Moltove Endemerrin Rosethorne Isaac Vadoma Eva Ianeira

Happy 3rd Anniversary Role-Play Coalition! We've been through a number of evolutions up to this point, and this is probably the most robust of them all. With the coming of a new game comes a new RPC! The primary goal of the site redesign was to create something simplistic, elegant, progressive, and powerful. Hope it's up to everyone's standards! The following is a comprehensive list of the changes made to the RPC site. Not everything is necessarily listed due to the sheer volume of changes. If you encounter any graphical problems, please refresh your browser first. The site has been tested in the latest versions of Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Opera, and various other browsers. Everything appears to be working and looking as intended, excluding known bugs listed below. Should you find a bug not listed below, please report it (along with instructions on how to replicate the bug). Further minor modifications and fixes will of course be made in the future, along with future additional features. A huuuge thanks to Ellie for helping with so much of this in regards to graphics and feedback. It is highly recommended (though not always required) that you clear cookies for this site should you have any problems with logging in/out/staying logged in (especially with the gallery section). This is done in your browser options. Find the ffxiv-roleplayers.com cookie folder and delete it, allowing it to rebuild itself. Then close your browser and restart it. :moogle: Our forum software has changed from phpbb to MyBB. :moogle: Almost all of the site graphics have changed. This includes the banner, background image, colors, smilies, a new favicon (may not show up right away unless you delete cookies), and numerous other icons/graphics. :moogle: Multiple languages are now supported by the RPC. You can change your default language at registration and/or in your user profile. While changing the language will not change how images/post content are displayed, it will change the majority of system-side text to the preferred language. Note that some text here and there can't be translated to any language at this time due to how it was coded in. This may/may not be revised at a later time if someone of said language is able to provide the proper translations. Languages supported now include: French, German (informal), Spanish (international), Polish, Japanese, and Russian. :moogle: A fancy new slider/featured articles block has been added to the home page. This will be used to publish various featured articles, display artwork from our various artists, and so on. Along with this, various new articles/pages have been added. Be sure to check them all out! :moogle: The login menu and user panel have been altered to utilize javascript. Users should still be able to navigate to the login page if the dropdown menu ever fails (ie: if Javascript is disabled). :moogle: The post viewing page has been altered for a sleek and attractive appearance. If for some reason one does not like the new post page layout, you can opt to revert to the "classic" style via your user control panel ("edit options"). Yay for enhanced individual freedom! :moogle: The member profile page has been completely overhauled. Information is better displayed in a more organized manner and it is now possible to view more detailed information and even post comments on a user's "wall." You can also add/remove/view friends here. Further tweaks will be made in the near future. :moogle: A "main character" box has been added to the user control panel below the linkshell box. Here, you can add your main character's full name to easier be identified. This will also display on all posts, as will your linkshell. :moogle: Reputation from the old site has been wiped due to a complete recoding of the feature. You can still rate up individual posts (and remove your rating if desired) via the "Reputation" button (looks like an R with a tiny plus sign in the corner). You may also navigate to the user's profile and give a single rating (along with a comment) about the user in general. Only positive reputation can be given, as per before. :moogle: The forums will now automatically detect videos and audio links that you post without any need to use any codes/tags. Simply post the link and the server will do the rest for you. Since links will automatically convert to the embed video/music file, be sure that's what you want prior to posting it. If you just want the link itself posted for whatever reason and not the actual video, you'll need to surround the link with the "preformatted code" block. IE: link This button is available in the editor and should be used to preserve formatting in those rare circumstances you need to. You can still use the normal codes for videos as well if you so wish. :moogle: A new text editor has been added that's far more advanced in that it allows a 'what you see is what you get' format where you can view your post format as it's written instead of constantly using the "preview" function. You can toggle between two different modes via the last button on the 2nd row ("view source"). You may also switch the default mode it's in via your user panel ("edit options"). You have the choice between the powerful SCeditor (defaults to what you see is what you get mode), SCeditor source (defaults to source mode where you can see the BBcodes), or "MyCode editor" (original default editor with more limited options). You can also select "no editor" if you're the type who never uses codes like bold, italics, etc in your posts. Note that if you go into "edit options" to change anything else, the text editor defaults back to the MyCode editor style so be sure to change that back before hitting "update options." Also note that certain things don't appear in the 'what you see is what you get' mode as they will in the actual posts (such as spoiler tags and quotes). :moogle: The post editor has been modified. When editing a previously made post, you can choose between quick edit and full edit modes. Quick edit does not display the post editor and should only be used for fixing typos and whatnot. The text editor itself looks different from our previous one, though the majority of the basic features are still present. Please note that most BBcodes from our old site (alignment codes, etc) are still compatible with this site. The biggest exception is the video/audio system, as the forums now auto-detect them without need for code (simply post the link and the video/mp3 player will automatically load). Some font size codes are no longer compatible either, but the old ones have been converted to the new coding so the flow of older posts should not have changed. :moogle: Posts made by the same user in the same thread within a set period of time of the last one will be auto-merged and separated by a horizontal line (ie: spam posts). :moogle: An "alerts" system has been added that displays in your user panel box. It will notify you of numerous things, including: Private messages, responses to your threads, being quoted in a post, reputation added, and buddy list adds. You can modify what you want/don't want alerts to via your user control panel under "Alert Settings." At this time, there is no alert for posts made on a user's wall. This will likely be added in the future though. :moogle: An "announcement" system has been added. Separate from the alerts system, this applies strictly to PMs and comments posted on your profile. Once the alert system is fully expanded, this feature will be removed. Please note that the comment notification is bugged and won't link to your actual unread comments. You'll have to manually go to your profile to see it, and once you do, the notification will go away. This will hopefully be fixed soonish. The announcement feature mostly exists until everything is properly integrated into the alert system (which will take time). :moogle: The sidebar on the forum index can now be collapsed and saved in your cookie settings. This can only be done on the forum index and not the home page. The sidebar has also moved to the left side of the site. At this time, it is not yet implemented on other site pages, but it may be added in other locations in the near future. :moogle: The events block on the home page and forum index are 100% in sync now and are both also in sync with the calendar feature. In the future, I may add an "add event" button directly to the sidebar for even easier event management. :moogle: The calendar has changed only slightly and is now easier to add events. You can either click on the day (such as the "30" on January 30th) OR navigate below the calendar and click the newly added "add public event" button. Please note that, like before, the default selection for new events is on "all day event." Seeing as the majority of RP events have a ranged time, be sure to select "ranged/recurring" and set the actual start/finish times. Numerous different "sets" of calendars can be added in the future if needed. The interface for adding an event is also more simplistic now. :moogle: A new and more powerful spoiler tag is now in use. It allows for spoilers within spoilers. The old spoiler tag has also transferred in order to not break old posts, though using it in the future will not be possible unless you manually type in the code for it--[*spoil]text here[*/spoil] instead of the default [*spoiler]text here[*/spoiler] (excluding the * in each case). You can now also add titles to your spoilers if you wish, though it is optional. :moogle: The FAQ section has been overhauled and simplified. :moogle: The memberlist section has only been slightly modified. User titles will now display with your username instead of in a separate column. Avatars are displayed in a larger size to avoid the formerly required hover effect. At this point in time, sorting the list by clicking the header titles is not possible. Please use the new search/sort feature at the bottom of the page if you need to sort/search at this time. There is also an "advanced search" for the memberlist. :moogle: All previous custom titles and linkshells have been wiped from everyone's profile. Feel free to update this information via your user control panel. The "Edit Profile" option in the sidebar is where you need to go. :moogle: The control panel has been overhauled. Options now appear via the UCP sidebar (and can be collapsed). You can set all relevant information here, including a "bio" that will display on your front profile page for others to see. Feel free to use this as you see fit, such as listing characters, wiki links, journal links, etc. :moogle: A "personal notepad" has been added into your user control panel. You may add notes to yourself here if desired. No other users (not even moderators) can view this information except for you. It's mostly just for personal to-do lists if desired. :moogle: All avatars have been wiped. Please update these via your user control panel. All uploaded avatars will be auto-resized to 100x100 if larger than that. :moogle: Signatures have transferred, though the coding to generate them has slightly changed. Signatures larger than the predetermined dimensions will have scroll bars added instead of auto-resizing (may be changed at a later time). :moogle: The buddy list is far more robust and more prominent now. It especially makes PMing someone extensively easier. Give it a try! :moogle: You may now mark a forum as read by simply clicking on the forum icon (or by the old methods). :moogle: A latest posts box has (finally) been added to the sidebar. :moogle: The gallery block has been modified. Due to the last minute decision to change the gallery, this block is not done yet. Originally, it was a slideshow of recent images but the slideshow code was not compatible with the new gallery. This will (hopefully) be fixed relatively soon. In the meantime, the side box will show a thumbnail list of the most recent images. :moogle: A "lite mode" has been added that can be accessed in the footer of the site. This will change the site to pure text and remove all other elements. This is an excellent feature for mobile devices that may not be able to load images/javascript properly. More support is likely to be given to mobile devices in future software updates, as promised by the MyBB team. :moogle: The gallery section has been vastly modified (and purged). Due to being unhappy with the inferior gallery we WERE getting, I made a last minute decision to recode it from the ground up. I managed to completely integrate an external gallery software into the site (Coppermine Gallery). As such, it is essentially as powerful as the previous one. Transition between the forums and gallery should be seamless. At this time, a bug prevents the creation of personal albums. So please upload pictures to the pre-designated albums for now and we can move them at a later time if needed. Since the gallery was very last minute, it's not 100% perfect/done yet. Bugs may be more commonplace here, though I think the major ones should be "hidden" from normal users. :moogle: The search section of the site has been modified in appearance. :moogle: The bazaar section has been eliminated due to lack of use. :moogle: The chat room has been removed due to lack of use. One or two of the following may be added in the near future: A new robust chat room, a shoutbox, or a status updates feature integrated with the sidebar. :moogle: The number of queries the site uses per page load has been reduced in comparison to the old site (this is a very good thing ^^). :moogle: Quotes in posts will now display avatars, as well as a link (in the form of an arrow) to the original post from which the quote came. :moogle: Authors of threads (as well as mods) can freely change the name of their thread title without going into full edit mode now if they so wish. Simply click and hold over the thread title and it will allow you a quick title edit. You can still edit titles the old way as well via full editor mode. :moogle: An advanced statistics page for the forum has been added. :moogle: The wiki has remained as is. However, it is not compatible with the new forum software/database at this time. As such, logins for NEW USERS will no longer pull from your forum username/password. Please contact myself to be registered for the wiki manually for the time being. If you were registered on the RPC prior to today, this will not impact you. This issue will hopefully be rectified in time. Additionally, there are numerous wiki plugins for the forum software that could completely integrate the wiki with the forum. This would require another transfer of information. I am still looking into this matter to see if it would be worthwhile. The primary problem that rests with this is the large possibility of limited wiki features. :moogle: The user registration page has changed. :moogle: The moderation team has changed. Please welcome Alothia, Xenedra, and Ellie to the team! :moogle: The names of various forum sections have changed. :moogle: Users may now change their username on their own via the user control panel. Please do not abuse this feature. :moogle: Users may now log in via either their username OR email address. Please note that you will be unable to login via email if you have more than one forum account with the same email address. :moogle: Numerous other minor features have been added/enhanced/modified. Further minor adjustments will continue to be made as needed. Known bugs/issues: --Recurring events do not display more than the first time in the sidebar. --Clicking a spoiler while previewing a PM causes the PM to instantly send instead of opening the spoiler tag. --Avatars do not display in quote boxes within private messages. --Internet Explorer does not allow the menu buttons (forum, wiki, linkshells, etc) to glow. --A couple of buttons are not yet in the primary editor (glow text and indent). These codes are still usable but must be manually typed in at this time (and won't display correctly in the editor in the 'what you see is what you get' mode). These buttons do exist in the MyCode editor however. --You cannot edit sent PMs. You can, however, delete the PM before the user sees it and resend a new version. --Image resizer affects even small images that don't need resized. While the image itself is not resized, it does allow one to use the 'zoom in' feature instead of skipping the image like it should. --Editing a pre-existing event causes the incorrect text editor to display. --The notification for comments on a user's wall does not link to the user's profile (nor anywhere else). You must manually go to your profile and check the comment for the notification to vanish. --The default editor in "edit options" is always set to "MyCode editor" despite what your default editor is. Please keep in mind that you must change this every time you make changes to your edit options before hitting "update options." --Alerts and comment notifications do not display in the Gallery. --Various links in posts that lead to other sections of the site may be broken now. The mods and I will try to fix these as we come across them. --Personal albums cannot be created yet due to a jquery conflict. --Some text formatting in posts may need redone. Possibly Coming Soon: -Blog feature -Status updates feature -Chat room or shout box -Linkshell section -Tonberry Lantern section revamp--possible integration with WordPress for easy article creation. -Wiki integration -Tweaked user profile page (merging of posts and threads categories, addition of user's images, etc) -Expansion of alerts system Sidenotes: --All private messages up through today have been marked as read, regardless if you've read them yet or not. --Timezones are reset. Be sure to reset yours in your user control panel under edit options. --Linkshell section is presently under lockdown due to a revamp. --Certain smilies and codes (such as tabs and video codes) have either been removed or modified. As such, this may be reflected in some past posts. For example: The "Mr Green" smilie will not show up anymore. Instead, it'll simply show as . --MyBB is currently in a major transitional stage, creating their own "version 2.0," ironically enough. As such, this site will likely see a couple more major updates in the future to reflect that. This shouldn't impact anything too major for us aside from maybe updated features and optimization. We're currently in "patch 1.6.9." Version 1.8 is currently in alpha testing. 2.0 itself is still likely a year or so away. But we have the comfort of knowing that the forum software IS being supported into the future. --To make known how much more robust this site is, there's a site that scans and evaluates other sites and gives scores regarding various factors (optimization, performance, etc). The old RPC scored a terrible 56% (E rating). This RPC scored a whopping 29 points higher at 85% (B rating). That's actually on par with (and sometimes higher than) the average Enjin site and about 8 points above the average for all sites out there. Over time, my goal is to get it to an A
