    400 Members!

Finally hit the 400 mark, as expected. Now let's see if we can get the coveted 500 before launch! ::Tosses confetti into the air:: As a sidenote, there are about 5-6 alternate accounts. So technically we're still slightly below 400 but meh. Might as well celebrate it anyway since that's still a lot of RPers!
  2. Lots of new screenshots of both cities. Gridania is going to start out so crowded no doubt >.> http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/10957-ne ... e-sources Edit: Nevermind. I think they're the same pictures posted on Gamewatch.
  3. And now Core has removed its article it seems. Guess SE wasn't ready for the info to be revealed yet. Eorzeapedia's is still up, though likely not for long. Better get it while you still can
  4. For whatever reason, the Gamespot article and pics were taken down. Eorzeapedia and Core still have their articles and pictures up though.
  5. Moar! http://www.eorzeapedia.com/2010/08/16/g ... -hands-on PS: I love the architecture for Gridanian buildings.
  6. Have you guys successfully transferred to Zam yet? I'm not sure what's going on. I tried going to the link supplied by both Pikko and Nkato but it doesn't take me to the IRC (though I don't have anything related to IRC installed so maybe that's why). Just wanted to see what's going on since I think a lot of you are lingering in IRC limbo right now.
  7. I'm sure things like custom emotes and player housing will be added in at some point. These kinds of things simply aren't top priority items for SE right now due to the release date being next month. FFXI was pretty bare bones when it first came out too and it's come a looong way. So I think we'll get all of the major stuff we RPers so desperately need. In the meantime, we'll just have to go gimp style. For instance, prior to SE allowing others to enter your mog house in FFXI, RPers usually just "confiscated" houses from NPCs and passed them off as their own in order to have little RP sessions in their character's "home." I'm sure the beta testers here are already scoping out NPC homes to invade
  8. Just as a notice, this topic will probably be unstickied within a week or two. We're about a month away from the game being released and really need to focus on that. And we've already confused one of our fellow RPers with this sticky as is . I think we've supported FFXI's RP community as much as we possibly could up until now, though I'm unsure it ultimately did much good. I believe at least one (maybe 2) of the advertised RP groups are more less on the verge of being gone. Thus, it wouldn't make much sense to continue having a sticky just for 1-2 RP linkshells. And as stated before, this is the FF 14 RP Coalition. Now that the game is literally around the corner, that's where our primary focus will be. Otherwise, we'll end up with people from WoW or something asking us to sticky their RP groups too >.>; Anyway, just wanted to give a courtesy warning so nobody is surprised when this topic disappears into the Lounge. For the 1-2 FFXI RP groups that do continue to survive, I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say that we wish you the best of luck in keeping RP alive in Vana'diel. Edit: We could possibly stick in the FFXI RP groups in Eva's FAQ sticky, though it would be nothing more than the shell name, server, and link to their forums. I would need each of the 3 linkshell leaders to confirm they're still alive and kicking though and intend to remain in Vana'diel even after FF14 is released.

    Zam RP Wiki

It looks very nice. However, our character wikis wouldn't be on Zam. They would be on our own wiki This Zam wiki section is more or less a way to reach out to the non-RP community. It could help bring in more RPers and/or just let the non-RPers better understand us.

    Zam RP Wiki

We will indeed have our own wiki. The design is still in the works, as is the exact content. Originally, the idea was to compile lore into it but that may seem a bit redundant seeing as other major sites will have the same info. So instead, it may be better to make it into something designed more for us. Instead of just game lore, it could have things like organized character profiles, artifact info, storylines, and so on. Anyway, I added some stuff to the Zam wiki so it isn't totally bare anymore. There's obviously room for a lot more but for now, it'll do.

    Zam RP Wiki

Zam's wiki page is for general info about RP. It's more meant for new or non-RPers of the game. Our wiki, if ever finished, will focus on entirely different things that better suit our needs.

    Zam RP Wiki

The RP community officially has its own wiki section in the Zam database. This is one of numerous things of which Zam will be cooperating with us on in the future. Obviously, the wiki section can be edited by those outside the RPC as well. However, we will no doubt be the major contributors to this section. We can also create a subsection dedicated entirely to talking about the RPC and advertising it. The wiki section can be found here, though it is currently blank until we start putting stuff on it: http://ffxiv.zam.com/wiki/Role_Playing_%28FFXIV%29
  13. Pikko from Zam just emailed me. She wants to know if we'd be interested in setting up a channel through Zam. All we'd have to do is register the channel and then use it as we please. Yay? Nay?
  14. If Zam has one, I'd definitely suggest using it. If a similar problem arises there, I can shoot Pikko or Thayos an email and hopefully put a stop to it. I've been talking to them this past week about RPC stuff and they definitely support us. So any kind of RP discrimination will probably be dealt with much easier there. VanaChat people really need to pull that stick out of their arse and get off their high horse >.>
  15. Refresh your browser. If you still see them, I don't know what to tell you >.>
  16. Thank you! This is actually the only calendar that actually works for phpbb3 forums I believe. Unrelated note but not worthy of own thread: I fixed the smilies too. No more annoying white borders around them.
  17. Wow, pushed back to the 2nd page . Still no news about non-English RP communities? It's not really a necessity either way. However, being on the same server as them would be convenient for our multi-lingual people. As another update, I've contacted the major sites to ask if they'd recognize the RPC's chosen server as the "official" unofficial RP server. So far, only Zam has gotten back to me. I've talked to Pikko and I'm now waiting to hear back from Thayos and Elmer for a news story about the RPC. Core and Eorzeapedia have yet to respond at all. I'm thinking I should maybe try different admins >.>. Edit: Core -just- responded to me and will also help us in our server selection endeavor and promotion. So any random RP server selection polls that pop up there should be basically nuked. Part 4 of this discussion (voting process) is being scratched I guess. There's nothing to really discuss on that front. I'll just say that I do plan to temporarily set forum registration to admin approval during the vote. I'll also be deleting all secondary/third forum accounts any of you currently have just to warn you.
  18. I finally got it successfully installed! Took a lot of time and energy to get everything operating normally but I think it should be good now. After launch, I may go ahead an enable the weekly version at the bottom of the forums (like ARP has). This will help highlight upcoming events. It doesn't really mold well with the rest of the forum without the borders around it though (and I can't add the borders unless I find a way to shrink it some more). Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to link the Bulletin Board to the Calendar somehow. If anyone knows anything about how to do this, let me know. Otherwise, event creators will have to post in the Bulletin Board AND make the event on the calendar as well (which is slightly redundant). The calendar has nice little features such as tracking attendance and whatnot. A better guide on how to use it will be posted prior to unlocking the Bulletin Board. This is a HUGE burden off my back, that's for sure. This was the biggest mod I've installed yet and I feel a lot better now that's it finally out of the way. Now just gotta finish that wiki...though I'm taking a break for awhile to focus on my character's intro story and whatnot >.>;.

    TCGs

MTG for the win. My cards are collecting dust right now. Only ever knew two people who played it so I didn't get to have as much fun with it as I would have liked. My secret fantasy is a MTG MMORPG. And by that, I mean an actual world based on the actual lore of the Magic universe. I've read most of the books and love the story to death.
  20. ((OOC: I've cleaned this thread up a bit by removing everything starting from Mikhael's entrance. Mikhael, it may be best to just observe for awhile before jumping into any RP. We can talk more about it in your post in the Pub section. Everyone else, carry one please.))
  21. I don't really see how splitting up the forums more is going to help in the slightest. A 15 page thread is still going to be 15 pages. We have a chatty group and having tons of forum sections really wouldn't change that. That said, we have been splitting posts from threads that get too off topic. That's about all we can do really. I can understand how it's all overwhelming though. Even I have to "mark topics as read" every now and then. But again, there's not much we can do about it unless we tell people to outright stop posting >.>. It'll slow down eventually. Also...hang the sellouts! You little traitors! Seriously though, I'm really excited that Eorzeapedia has taken the RP community under its wing for the podcast. It'll give us so much more needed exposure to the general community (and maybe even SE). When I suggested to FusionX to cover the RP community a bit more from time to time, I didn't anticipate he'd take it this far. So that's really awesome. My ONLY fear though is that you guys might eventually start drifting from your roots/purpose (the RP community) and slowly become more generalized over time. I really hope that doesn't happen but I just wanted to toss that little concern out there. We need more group discussions like in episode 3. Those are really neat.
  22. I feel the same way as Siben basically. I stopped being interested in beta when we had the release date. Plus, my PC can't play it well right now until I upgrade it next month. Trying to send out some tickets to those listed. So if you get one from "Zarik," that's me. Don't send me any back though. I can't play beta anyway and even if I could, I'm probably less interested in doing so than some of the others here.
  23. Looking at the 3 big sites giving away beta keys makes me lol. So many pages in just a few hours, most of which are flooded with 1 post accounts.
  24. Zam and Eorzeapedia are also doing it (both of which I personally endorse moreso than Core for various reasons >.>).
  25. Beta servers do, yes. Whether or not they transfer to the final product is unknown but in FFXI's case, the server naming scheme was changed prior to launch. Either way, I have to say this...Kefka server would be just as bad of a choice as the Sephiroth server >.>;. Though for different reasons. Also, I know what the big secret is! I can't wait til they announce it in the next episode.
