  1. To be truthful, I didn't really care too much for this episode (I'm sorry!). It felt like a lot of the material was extremely outdated. This was probably a result of the delay though. Looking forward to the next episode though. Should have at least 4+ guilds/linkshells to cover: Not Thieves, Seren Point, Silver Anvil, Oschon at-Ta'ih, and possibly Baltazar's Favor if they're ready to go live by then. All but Not Thieves (and BF) currently have descriptions up on the main site. Personally, I kinda wish you guys would cover more of the ongoing discussions here on the forums, particularly topics in the Assembly Room and maybe now the Pub. Headlines maybe a tiny bit too. I would prefer to listen about that stuff moreso than game mechanics and whatnot since tons of podcasts talk specifically about such things as is. Game mechanics as they relate to RP are okay I guess but it seemed to stray from that when you were talking about things like the classes and beta. That's just me though and I'm not sure if anyone else feels the same way or not. Are you guys going to keep with the current hosting plan or are you still looking into something else? Anyway, keep up the good work
  2. Are you in the right room? >.> They moved to VanaChat I believe. And if that's where you're at, then maybe they're all still hanging out at the old IRC
  3. 60 emotes is very nice. I went and looked up how many FFXI had after all these years. It's about 34 I think according to FFXIclopedia.
  4. Seren Point added to the main site linkshell directory. Council status also received. You should have received a somewhat lengthy email. If you wish to add an IC description for the "description" subsection, let me know. Typically, these descriptions tend to be from the viewpoint of either a historian, scholar, journalist, etc. You can view the other groups' descriptions in the directory to get an idea of how it works. Additionally, if you'd like a custom made logo with your page's title, feel free to submit one. It must be 80x80 pixels.
  5. Just copy/paste the IMG code as it is on Photobucket (in the little "menu" to the left of the pic). It'll show up like this (putting it in spoiler tag due to its size and to help with loading).
  6. If you wish for Seren Point to be an RPC Council linkshell, let me know. Looking at your forums, I'm assuming you have more than 3 members? That's assuming the registered people are different people and not different characters
  7. I think you can still pull this off as a single person, though maybe not in the way you initially imagined. From what I see so far, the game is extremely RP friendly (moreso than FFXI at least anyway). You could easily make up your own random guildleve every now and then and post it in the Bulletin Board. Then just see who shows up. You'll likely get some freelancers and non-freelancers alike. It could be a simple "go get this item" guildleve or a more "epic" type of guildleve. Just a thought.
  8. Added to main site linkshell directory. Also added both Council members: Monadi and Ereblenn. If you wish to change the icon used in your title, feel free to submit a new one to me. It must be 80x80 pixels. If you wish for any other changes to what's displayed, please let me know ^^
  9. You seem to be describing the "Epic" in some ways. The RPC Council will eventually (after settling into the game and getting linkshells in running order) plan and coordinate a large-scale storyline that encompasses all linkshells and freelance RPers. There would be RPC sponsored quests to move it along while allowing some room for some of it to be RPed within individual guilds and in the freelance world. Of course, this large-scale event wouldn't be nearly as often as what you're trying to achieve here. A single Epic storyline would likely only happen once a year (maybe twice depending on how grueling the planning process becomes) and last probably about 4-6 weeks from start to end. It seems as though you're aiming for something a tad bit different though. Also, anyone (linkshell member or freelancer) can post public events in the Bulletin Board section. Feel free to utilize it as necessary. Good luck getting this off the ground. Freelancers in particular might be difficult to mobilize though (hence why they have no Council representation at this time >.>).
  10. Scrollbars can go straight to hell >.> I can change the colors but I think only for Internet Explorer users. I have no idea how to do so with other browsers. If I can figure out how, I can think about it. Actually, they're already a different color on IE browsers (though not a good color in my opinion). I would love to change the graphic entirely but again, don't know how or if it's even possible. If it was a flash site, I know I could. But this is pure html format. Edit: Okay, it's suddenly not a different color on IE either. Huh...
  11. You may now view updates in their new format here: http://www.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/news Main points of interest: --Activity explosion. --Linkshell section added to main site. Teaser site down. Other site modifications. --Jecht=RP beta server. Worst-case scenario guide for server selection pending. Wishing to investigate non-English RP community. --New podcasts up. IRC room advertised. --Scholar search. --Coming in August: RPC Charter reevaluation and vote, lots of etiquette discussions, Eorzean Tribune creation. Questions, comments, etc are welcome.
  12. That's something I could probably look into. At the very least I can add a link under the Links section of the site to the IRC room.
  13. I've been thinking of just installing a chat room right here on the RPC's server. However, I don't really know squat about chat rooms and I have a feeling it would cost money to do so properly. Also, I'm pretty sure the chat right now is OOC. I could be mistaken though.
  14. Moved to Lounge. Also made sticky. Any of the mods who have all the proper server info/links/etc mind editing the first post with the info?

    Languages

I think it's important to take into account the true size of each city-state. Even though there may only be 150 or so visible NPC's running about, that doesn't mean there are only 150 citizens of the city-state. SE can only program so many NPC's into the game after all. There are in fact probably hundreds of thousands, if not millions of citizens in terms of real lore. As such, it's perfectly believable that different cultures exist within each city-state. That said, there technically is no such thing as "German," "Spanish," "Japanese," or even "English" languages in this world. The primary language (English in this case), would probably be considered simply "Eorzean." But it's perfectly reasonable to have different variations of the language. Just look at American English and British English for instance. There are some words that mean entirely different things. So someone using "goldpaw" instead of "seeker of the sun" wouldn't be too contradictory to lore in my opinion. As for other completely different languages, they could always just be considered tribes of some sort.
  16. There's no "anti-Vana'diel edge" on this forum. Many of us have been there and RPed there for years. If anything, we're pro-Vana'diel (hence this being stickied to begin with). However, this is a FFXIV based forum. And as I stated already, the advertised FFXI shells have not benefited much, if at all, by this sticky advertisement. Any members gained for any of the 3 Vana'diel RP groups were likely gained through individual recruitment efforts in game. The truth is, most RPers HAVE abandoned Vana'diel. We're not saying all of them have but certainly the majority. I'm not sure where you're getting the "anti-Vana'diel" tone from any of these truthful remarks.
  17. Just found out that the one being used is supposedly at Webchat and the name is #FF14rpchat.
  18. I hate you all >.> My score was like...183. I know the graphic card needs updated but I can't afford to spend more than about $130 on it. So yeah...I'll be aiming at the min specs moreso than recommended. Hopefully I don't lag too crazily. The rest of my PC pretty much is exactly the same as the min specs for the most part. If it becomes too difficult to play, guess I'll be spending most of my time hanging out in the emptiest zones biding my time for PS3 release.
  19. Does anyone know if they released FFXI server names before release? If they did, it's probably a safe guarantee they'll do so again. If not...well then it's anyone's guess as to whether they will or not. I realize the server selection process was random then but not sure if they still released the list or not. Edit: I guess a better question would be if it's common for other MMO's to release server lists prior to release. I've actually never paid attention to that in my past MMO experiences.
  20. Well, now that we have more info with the release dates and have had time to think over some of this... I think it would be in our best interest to have a poll no matter what happens. Some people might be furious that they don't even get a chance to vote on the unofficial RP server. The collector's edition people will have access to the servers before the rest of us. Thus what could happen if we don't have server lists released before then is: Someone who bought the collector's edition immediately puts up the poll with the entire server list (I would have various safeguards in place already to prevent abuse of the voting system). The poll would last for a mere 24 hours (no time to waste since people are already playing the game). For those not familiar with how voting here works, we usually leave formal polls up for 7 days. That wouldn't be a viable option in this scenario though. After the 24 hours ends, the winning server would become the unofficial RP server. Those who have to reroll shouldn't have an issue in doing so since it's only been 1 day since they started playing (and most of that day would probably be spent downloading the game and update patch  ). I personally think it would be best to just forget about choosing the server closest to a certain letter or a certain number on the list. A short 24 hour vote would be much better. Of course, people would be warned a week in advance before this via mass email if we don't have server lists made public by that point. Objections? Did I even make any sense? >.>
  21. The writer of that article is actually registered on these forums FYI . Glad he keeps giving the RP community some exposure.
  22. I'm going to be honest. I don't think I'll have the time or energy to finish the wiki anytime soon. The main site and forum stuff is going to keep me occupied for awhile still no doubt. And you know...I'd like to have at least some time to finish working on my characters . Thus if anyone has the design skills, feel free to volunteer to finish the project. I can give access to the wiki directory files with an ftp account and so on. Otherwise, we'll be waiting quite awhile before we get our lore section up.
  23. I keep forgetting to post this >.>; When you have 3 or more committed members, please submit the list either here or via a PM to me (whichever you're comfortable with). That's the only requirement you still need to become an RPC Council linkshell/company/whatever they're called.
  24. I did RP a brother-brother relationship in my super early FFXI years. It was by far one of the most memorable experiences I've had in RP overall. There wasn't a ton of planning involved or anything. I don't even remember how it started. I think I posted a thread somewhere about looking for someone to play the role and he volunteered. We matched up stories and made it work. Awesome experience overall. I sincerely hope that I find at least one person to play a sibling role again eventually. The only bad thing about sibling relationships (or any relationship for that matter) is if/when that person decides to quit RP, quit the game, and/or just drops off the radar. You kinda get stuck in a bad position then. Thus you're forced to be rather selective in choosing someone who you know will stick through everything for the long haul. That's not always easy if you don't know the person very well.
  25. Final Fantasy > Star Wars 8-) Seriously though, sorry to see you go. Hope your group has fun and if not, you know where to find us. I'll lock this thread up in a few days and change Council permissions.
