Oh, yes - I should probably mention I'm on NA.

Double whammy this time, stupid AND awkward! I was visiting the fam for Easter and needed some air, so I decided to take myself down to the main street for a look. It's an unfamiliar area so I wasn't quite sure which way to go. So, I head down a side street I thought was a through road to the main street and a fellow wanderer was coming the opposite direction though turned around when he saw me. I'm a fast walker so I drew a bit closer while browsing on my phone, though.. They guy enters a house and I soon find the street was a long cul-de-sac and I'd been following behind this poor guy for a couple of minutes. Probably totally creeped him out too. SUPER embarrassing. Yeah, you bet my eyes were glued to google maps the rest of that walk. >.<

Ermagerd, someone else that plays! Hit me up either ingame or here via PM to arrange a time. my IGN is groshonee1, I've got pretty high in the game so I can match any tier.

I'm to attend an Easter family gathering my sister is holding, so I was busy preparing myself for the overnight trip. Getting some files in order, and tunes for the long trip.. So after about an hour of fretting I'd not get everything neatly in order by tomorrow when I supposedly go, I am reminded the gathering isn't until Saturday. It's Wednesday today. u.u I have -totally- lost track of time here. Country towns will do that to ya.

balmung Wayfarer's Rest: Open House 3/24, 7:00 PM CST

RL and my dreadful memory permitting, I hope to attend this one. Sounds fun! -
I find death, stress and the act of killing another areoften overlooked in writing and roleplaying in general, especially the long-term effects it can have on the mind. Killing in particular. I feel that we are somewhat desensitised to killing asroleplayers due to the medium most of us here use, where it is indeed a game which rewards us for killing mindless AI over and over, however should Hydaelyn be a living, breathing world as seen through the eyes of our characters, things would be much different when mindless NPC becomes a living person with their own needs, goals and fears. Killing another being is a hell of a thing, even in a worldwhere death is commonplace. Using now not-so-random NPC as an example in death, our characters take away all they ever were and ever will be, often seeing the looks on their faces and in their eyes whilst doing so owing to the often up close and personal combat of the setting. To most that is bound to have some kind of effect as veryfew people are capable of killing another being and forgetting about it the next day as if nothing ever happened, even the most justified & lawful Paladin-type. So, this is all a very roundabout way of asking a question –how do your characters deal with death & killing? How does it weigh on or effect the individual, if at all? Have they ever lost someone who left some type of impact on them be it big or small, and how has it influenced them?

I've never player a Persona game in my life, but they all have wonderful music. zXX94yJgTz4

I've never been too fond of tavern rp, but it is a good way to make friends. That being said, the Sands is just so crowded I can't hear myself think in there much less keep up with any rp, so, are there any other rp hubs that are decently active?

The Anxiety Thread: Advice Encouraged & Loved!
Sev replied to MBajihri's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Wow, me too. I occasionally get nightmares about failing the group and dropping agro or dying then getting yelled at as I play a Paladin (Why of why do I keep doing that to myself?! The insta-queues are pretty nice I guess ) But oh man this thread.. I can relate well to all of you. Hugs for everyone! I’ve been dealing with nasty anxiety and depression burrowed deep like a barbed hook for a good 14 years now, and by now I’ve more or less accepted the black dog is here to stay after the better part of a decades worth of therapy and various medications struggled to drive it off. Now I’ve basically given up on doctors and medications. However, despite all the difficulties of real life I’m able to find some degree of solace online – threads like this remind me I’m not alone in the daily slog and its comforting to know that. -
Hi all, I've recently come back to Hydaelyn after a long break, though my available pool of rp contacts has drastically shrunk, so I am seeking some new friends to RP with. Anywho, now for the important stuffs. The Character Picture Full Profile At a Glance S'arraqanis is inexperienced, standoffish and tsundere as all hell though progressing quickly and is eager to carve out her own path in the world. Seeking I don't much like tavern RP, so I would be keen for more varied things such as world RP or more story-driven things that I can participate in. Contact I can be found under the name S'arraqanis Seveno. Thank you for reading!

'Lo all. After staying up much too late sifting through old rp notes I decided to resub to FF after a break of about a year. I was originally on Gilgamesh though transferred to Balmung to play with friends, though I became bored with the story and promptly quit. However, now that my pool of rp contacts is shrinking and a spot of burnout from GMing things often I've gone and resubbed in the hope of finding more contacts, be it ingame or out. I'm not quite sure where to begin - I don't much enjoy tavern rp so I'd be appreciative if someone could point me in the right direction as to where to find some good old adventuring rp for a leery Miqo'te

Hello Teuto, Currently the only FFXIV soundtrack available offically is for 1.0 named "Before Meteor" and Squeenix is very active in removing copy righted content. (part of the reason the one I linked hasn't been taken down is the host is very active as well in arguing fair use terms, but thats another issue.) If like me you are okay with a certain moral Grey area, you can find a Rip of the BETA sound files with a whole host of things buried in it. I won't link directly to it, but I can say ( http://lmgtfy.com/?q=FFXIV+ARR+OST+Torrent ). I don't intend that sarcastically although the link is usually used that way. Hope that helps! Ah, that's a shame about Squeenix, but thanks for the link!

I would be SO down for this if only I were on Balmung. I have a character concept i've been itching to try out that would be perfect for this kind of RP.

Gonna piggyback on this thread.. Anyone have a youtube link of the music that plays when you fight Titan? I can't find it anywhere

Sooo, what are the big glowing orange crystals dotted around the world? Are the remains of Bahamut's 'Make everything explode' spell, hunks of Dalamund, or something else? Also, IIRC Ala Mhingo is under Garlean rule, so would it be much of rare sight to see Garlean patrols out in the eastern ends of the Shroud?

Wow, I didn't think a company as large as Motorola would have only one center. But.. Feel bad for SE support now, especially only a month after launch. Can only imagine what it must have been like over there closer to release. Those poor, poor souls.

Wellp, got the software token removed and regained access to my account after calling support in Europe. No time on hold, lass on the other end solved my issue within 5 minutes. The NA center must be horribly overworked/understaffed.

Well, having no real advanced knowledge of FFXIV, it's technology and just lore in general I can reach two different conclusions on firearms in FFXIV - brace for speculation and probably a million things i've missed! But before that, rule of cool. In the real world, when firearms became widespread melee combat (Save for bayonets and to a point, pikes) and archery/crossbows died rather quickly due to the indisputable killing power and ease of use of firearms, with cavalry lasting only a few centuries longer thanks to their speed and slow reload times of early firearms. However, line combat is boring. Melee combat and archery holds a far more interesting and -much- faster paced fighting style which is more suitable for games, because being able to seriously wound or kill someone with one shot is no fun. So, first conclusion - Garlean firearms are magic/energy based, and Eorzian are conventional. I recall seeing cannons on many of the ships in Limsa Limonsa, noting Melwyb carries a pistol, and if I recall correctly, that Ceruleum is only found in Garlean-held lands. Not too much of a stretch as blackpowder is fairly simple to make, especially with the existence of an Apothecary guild. For why they aren't widespread using this theory is anyone's guess, though it could range from low supply, price of production, scarcity of raw materials and something so similar to Garlean magitech being viewed as something best left alone. Ceruleum as a propellant does not hold much energy. Naturally if you fire something out of a firearm (Assuming they fire physical projectiles) with low energy behind it due to a small / weak charge, the damage inflicted will be lower, leading to more minor wounds. Another possibility is that firearms are difficult / expensive to produce, so grunts only get cheap, ineffective models which may have trouble punching through armour, while the real nasty boomsticks are reserved for higher-ranking soldiers. As for just how advanced their knowledge of firearms and ballistics is, I really can't say. To create firearms that are accurate beyond a hundred or so feet they would need to figure out rifling, beyond that, breech loading. I don't know if they could make automatic / self loading weapons due to apparently low energy of the propellant, which would make gas-operated reloading hard, if not impossible. Though a mechanical system such as the one used in the Gatling Gun may be possible. That being said, it would be grossly impractical as the smoke created by blackpowder, and Ceruleum would blind the crew in their own smokescreen. But, all this being said, if Garleans can build functioning mechs and huge airships, little would be beyond their grasp.

Well, I just spent 50 minutes on hold to the CA support center, only to be told my account is a European one which they don't handle... Then proceeded to call the European center and be told by an automated system that they are not taking any calls today and will respond by email or chat. :frustrated: Seriously.. Worst customer support experience I've -EVER- had with anything. Normally I wouldn't be so annoyed but being forced to make international calls and wait around on hold for quite a while is pretty bothersome / expensive. It would probably have been easier and cheaper just to buy a new copy of the game and start anew by now. ...Sorry, just had to vent a wee bit there.

Thanks for the heads-up, boy what a mess this is turning in to @_@

Wellp. This is going to be a long wait. *Puts feet up and twiddles thumbs*
