Well, If you're into that I guess...
Berrod Armstrong replied to Lilira Lira's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Well, the way I see it, that place looks like the torturer's quarters! In Halicarnassus' room (can't remember if I spelled that right) there are several torture devices. They all need to be operated by someone right? Maybe a couple people. That room looks like it would be where the torturers sleep. The stock on the bed is placed to indicate that -- a tell. Perhaps he just left a spare stock on the bed before heading off to work, in the same way a lot of people just dump stuff on their beds. Perhaps he was handling it when something happened and it dropped there! The place looks like a dormitory more than a sex dungeon! -

To be fair, that stock can be used just as easily on a Miqo'te or a Midlander Hyur. I don't see anything exclusively Lalafellin! Also, I think a 'sex dungeon' would be more ah...well equipped than that, especially considering how wealthy the owners of the mansion were. Just looks like a stock on a bed to me! -
Kudos to Kale Aideron, X'unmei Noh, Vallois Villeneuve and W'ruu The Bloodletter for the fun random roleplay this morning!

Thing is, to me, Moony wasn't just a Femroe - she was the most engaging and interesting of her race offered to us in these quests. I mean, come on - smart, good with her axe, willing to get her hands dirty in a fight, flirty yet loyal (to an Elezen who was cold to her, even) , cool in demeanor with a touch of sass, and good at what she did. She was THE Femroe. Frankly, I think they killed her because nobody at SE is a good enough or smart enough writer to properly use a character like that, so they had to kill her before she took over the Scions simply because she was vastly more COMPETENT AT EVERYTHING than any of them save maybe Papalymo or Y'shtola at their best. (I don't include Cid and crew in this comparison, but let's be honest - Biggs and Wedge would never get anything done with her around) I would bet you a lot of gil that Moenbryda would never develop sudden leg cramps in Little Solace.... I just realized that I'm picturing replacing old Chuck Norris memes with Moenbryda memes, so... I am stepping away from the keyboard. I still just think they made her like that so we'd feel it when she died. Not to mention, all the newer characters they've introduced seem to have more life than the old. Keep in mind that the MSQ has actually been getting -better- as it goes along, even by a little. It's reasonable that a character introduced in one of the best story patches is more engaging than the ones who were already there. Moenbryda's death was written long before she entered the stage as well. Stepping back and looking at it from a storyboard perspective (and the perspective of someone who -wants- the players to feel loss instead of just saying, 'oh, so and so died'), yeah, I think it's actually fine for the most part.

Differences between the Echo and Hydaelyn's Blessing?
Berrod Armstrong replied to Kage's topic in RP Discussion
THEORY TIME: Middums smashed Hydalyn's christmas-tree light circle and replaced it with babbu dragon? Perhaps they are essentially the same thing (the crystal circle and the dragon), just manifested differently due to the nature of the ones who granted them? The way I see it, Middums just replaced Hydaelyn. While I doubt he can grant the LEVEL of strength she could (or perhaps he can, if she had only been using a set amount of power on us), perhaps he is capable of granting the echo in the form of his weirdo 'blessing' as well. This may very well aid us in resisting enthrallment and understanding other languages. END OF THEORY TIME. -
I'm okay with this... Godbertia? Mandervillage? Julyannia? City of the Golden LB Hammer? God'Dah "Oh are you God'Dahn?" "Excuse me?"

As someone who writes adorable characters for the sole purpose of killing them horribly and ripping people apart, I can see what they did with Moenbryda (*takes a moment to sob loudly*). I understand too, the whole 'neither character did anything' from a storyteller's point of view -- the narrative needed to move on. It could be a bit of hastiness on their part; reducing the cutscene by not including any action to stop anyone, or a matter of 'Lol they'd probably all die if they did something'. I've always despised Minfilia -- but I also understand why she is as she is as well (placement wise). That too, after having to play both a 'quest giver', 'leader' and a 'DIPLOMAT'. I don't really LIKE it...but I get it. It wrecked me, but I'm impressed with them for introducing someone we all enjoyed and then crushing her underfoot. I know that game well...Give us the feeeeeels. Yesssssss.

He wished to survive, but the root did not answer. His hunger and lusts remained, but the sacral -- it did not crave. His will remained, yet the solar plexus was stilled. Ever did his passions burn -- but the flame of the heart had gone out. He spoke, and others listened, but the throat was silent. From two eyes did he see, but the mind's had gone blind. ...and the crown. The crown for which he had risked everything; the crown that would deliver enlightenment and bliss... ...the crown was a lie.

It's a Rolf! -
With regards to the bolded... You can't actually do that with dungeon gear due to most of it being class-restricted. Irritates the hell out of me. Wish they'd go back to the "any disciple of war or magic can wear this" system we had for pre-50 gear. You can mix an match for your class though, and that can be a lot of fun!

Rolf: Guttermouth genius

The foursome walked down the streets of the Goblet, their merry laughter echoing across the canyon walls. The first, a blond midlander in startlingly shiny armor, walked ahead of them with a proud stride and an air of smugness about him. Behind him trailed a silver-clad elezen woman who slid along the floor, looking rather pleased with herself. The other two -- a red haired Highlander in robes of white, as well as a shapely auburn elezen in a form-fitting maroon dress -- they trailed behind, casting an occasional glance back at the housing. "They were an awkward lot," The midlander declared, "Though that Duskwight remains irritatingly shrewd. We're going to have to find a way around that. Speaking of which, Felicia -- their wards?" The silvery Elezen took a deep breath before giving her report. "Old magic. Strong magic. There are traces of that Camy woman's work on it -- but the rest. It's powerful, and complicated. It draws from their aetheryte as well." "Can you do it?" "It will take time." "Good! Then our mission was a success. The next stage begins in a few days."

Just did some reading on that sort of math. Wow -- no, every math teacher/lecturer/professor I've ever had is going to scream bloody murder when they see that rubbish. Ewww, no. I love math. And THAT? That is just a way to make people do more work to get the same result -- something that math does its BEST to avoid. Simpler is better.

From left to right: NIN, DRG, Healers, ???, ???, MNK, Tanks Hard to tell whether the Miqo'te or the Highlander is the BRD. My personal opinion about these gear is that they seem to be a bit too similar to 2.4 gears and seem extremely lazy. NIN/MNK above looks same and if Roe's outfit is BRD or DRG... that's a bit of disappointing too. They just seem color changed and nothing really different. Likewise for the casters in the middle. I hope crafting gears will make up the designs at least. (and is that a bucket helmet for the tank?) I don't think it's so much as a lazy similarity than it is just them sticking to a job aesthetic. In fact, it's pretty sweet that they let us get the gear from those Qarn guys, in addition to giving us those sweet MNK/DRG/NIN sets. For dungeon gear it looks great! I'm so used to getting stupid looking clown-suits from dungeons in other games, I think this is a treasure. It fits Eorzea well, and the characters look snazzy. I can't wait to collect my sets. Giving us the Qarn gear is sweet, but I'm in agreement with Aldotsk that creating one set of models for a single gear set and then simply recoloring that set to come up with two more (and recoloring old headgear pieces to include in the new sets to make them "different") is the definition of lazy. Job aesthetic? What job aesthetic? All three feature the same unbuttoned/unfastened shirt, same gloves, same pants, same boots. There's nothing in there that screams "MONK!" or "DRAGOON!" or "NINJA!" to me. The only reason we even have reasonable guesses as to which is which is because the headgear differs (eyepatches are the usual headgear for monks in XIV, masks for dragoons). They're cutting corners so that their costs in pumping out new assets don't climb higher than they can afford. No need to be an apologist about it. It's just the way it is. Er. I'm not quite sure where the whole apologist thing comes in, but what I stated was my opinion on the dungeon sets. As for the lazy thing? When these guys pump out patches every three months with stuff inbetween, it doesn't come to mind, simple as that. Personally, I like that the melee jobs have a matching theme differentiated by the headpieces, as well as the casters, it seems! The bards usually have a gaudier feel to them too -- though this time it seems different. I'm guessing that the feathery hatty thing is bard-san. That's just something that pleases me. Perhaps I'm simple like that! I don't know, I'm one of those easy to please people who get excited and enjoy the hell out of new stuff, however simple. Either way, I don't too much appreciate the accusation that I'm being an apologist. That's...not quite necessary. I'm just enjoying what they've put out, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Opinions abound about how people don't like what, I'd not like any bad light cast upon my own little view that I like it.

Aether Crystal Direct Conversion Potential?
Berrod Armstrong replied to Telluride's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Not a bad idea at all! I imagine the barrel and bullety-holding-parts (whatever that would be named in an eorzean gun) could be coated in the same manner the clay pot was to keep the crystals safely stored...things like that. APPLE SIZED CLAY POT CRYSTAL GRENADES But yeah, that concept sounds viable to me! Crystal bullets would also match the weird magical property of some of the gunfire seen in the game so far, seeming to be composed more of energy than actual lead projectiles... GO FOR IT -
I think they spoke about it during fanfest. One lockout for das gear pieces, and one lockout for das speshul-upgrado-component.

Aether Crystal Direct Conversion Potential?

I HOPE THAT HELPS -
I'm so stoked about that sports-bra monk set, you don't even know finally, proper support for Berrod's ridiculously massive pecs

This kinda saddens me. ...since the Highlander /pose is pretty much the same thing without the radiant sparkling smile. (And I'm assuming we'll get the funny sound effects). I hope IF we get the sounds, only the poser can hear it. Otherwise it'd make for some pretty annoying spam x.x Either way, it's nice that they keep putting poses in. THEY NEED TO KEEP IT UP

Is that the Monk and Ninja gear on the two to the far left? I call that a want. I'd wager the far left is Ninja, just next to it is Dragoon and the second from right is Monk! Using the head pieces as my guessing point.

While I understand your frustration, I have to point out that it is not a bad thing to reward people who have/are able to put in such time. None of us are entitled to be able to see or obtain every last bit of digital splendor from the game. Think about it this way -- you go to an amusement fair that has a cover charge of five bucks. With that five bucks, you can make an attempt at a bunch of games within, and receive prizes, or passes to go on to other games in a different section of the park. Stomping up to a ring toss stand and demanding one of the prizes because you paid the cover charge -- it won't really work! You'll have to play the ring toss game and hope you have the skill or luck (or friends!) to get it done. If you don't -- there are other games around that offer other prizes that you can take part in! It sucks that you can't get THAT PARTICULAR PRIZE, sure, but you paid the cover charge, so you can keep checking out the other games to your hearts content, and collect the prizes from those!
