Airborne rage?

Bwuh okay! Didn't expect this sudden surge! Guess I've gotta pick up the pace..

'Sup! So..I'm making a lalafell marauder! His name is Dododoa Dadadoa, a miner from Thanalan who worked day and night mining for ores, stones and treasure in the hopes of making a fortune. Over the course of three years, Dododoa became increasingly stressed by the amount of pests that got in his way whilst he tried to work. What started as a minor annoyance ramped up into full-blown rage, and actively hunted the small creatures with naught but his pickaxe. Astonished, a trader asked if he was from the Marauder's Guild, and hired him as a bodyguard to Limsa Lominsa. Confused by the man's offer and assumptions, yet happy to earn extra coin, Dododoa accompanied him to the city, only to be beset upon by pirates on the ferry there. His anger built up once more and fought back the pirates, foaming at the mouth as the assailants mistook him for a diseased man and ran away. His anger was very well received as the Marauders took him under their wing and worked on him for five years. He's currently searching for a potential employer to fill his coinpurse in exchange for his strongarming services. Traits: -ADORES money -Has a very short fuse -Surprisingly strong for such a small person It's a bit've a work in progress and I'm hoping to send him out into the open community soon!

Eses wiggles her fake moustache, flickering her eyes as she looks at the flyer. She twizzles it in ponderment. "Hmm..that's a lotta gil I could use to help me love with her airship repairs.." She looks at her pugil stick on her back and sniffles casually. "Welp, no time like the present! Nyahahah!"

Monogamy just feels less wrong in general. Miqo'te stories are pretty messed up as it is, but I never played Seeker since Tia's and Nunhs were something I could never RP out by being either, and being part of one of 24 harems is out of the question..especially considering the copious amounts of inbreeding that must make for regardless of swapping females in tribes. As for my Keeper, I find it better to be in a family rather than a tribe. It'd take a special kind of twisted for me to play a character whose beliefs would make me genuinely sick. So rather than play a member of a reclusive clan, I make a member of the clan that has values that don't make me cringe whenever I play them.

Friends In High (and Low) Places [RP Development Questionnaire]
Eses Fafa replied to Ignacius's topic in RP Discussion
Gridania: Troublemaker, pest to society Limsa: Do not challenge this woman to luck-based games Ul'dah: Wanted on suspicion of murder of 2 businessmen and 8 Brass Blades Ishgard: Foreign Dragoon, an insult to a noble position Revenant's Toll: A wannabe tryharding at heroism. -
The mustache got it right. The moustache is always right.

I would probably expand on the combat part in saying that adrenaline would play a large part as a compensator for exhaustion once the pain has gone.

I see healing as a means of repairing, perhaps increasing the rate of regeneration, but not creating tissue . So if someone broke a bone, then it would piece itself together. Though if something is missing, then there would be problems. Generally, when my char comes back from something like blood loss, that blood stays gone, and she's gonna be healing like death warmed over until her body catches up. If she's had some of her muscle tissue regenerated, she's gonna be sore, and very reluctant to move around. Healing in the game is miraculous, but coming back from a situation that should by all means leave someone in bed or a coffin should still linger around for a while longer.

This actually leads me to wonder why we haven't had super villains yet. If the level of power is really so drastic when jumping from "normal" Eorzeans to "special" Eorzeans, are we really to believe that no one has ever gone full Doctor Doom yet? The fall of Ala Mhigo displaced huge swaths of desperate, angry people. Not a one of them came into their gifts and decided to take it out on Ul'dah? Or the Empire? If there really are people out there capable of decimating platoons how come we don't have record of these terrifying supermen laying waste to the population? There's not a chance that the Monetarists would be content just sitting around waiting for someone they've financially ruined to develop mega-strength and come hunting them. Makes me curious if we're all getting it "wrong" and the overall level of power is just a game mechanic to make the WoL looks awesome. Well it's sorta iffy. Think of it like this: The Warrior of Light is one of the single most powerful characters in the game because they have friends..lots of friends. This character can vary from any job, could be the most powerful of said job, and has been known to take down major villains such as Xande. This could actually take up to 24 people to take them down, and the WoL never did this alone. When the WoL IS alone, they can usually only take on about three or four enemies at most with seemingly regular capabilities. This is from an IC and OOC perspective. A Dragoon, someone with the physical capabilities of killing dragons, defying gravity and tapping into their soul stone can be brought down by a handful of Brass Blades, regular folk who are trained among the masses because they're shallow and like money. Let that sink in for a second since the OOC side of the game actually balances out character strength quite a bit. Throughout the game, when we fight humanoid characters like Gaius, they bail after being brought down a good number by 8 people. Gaius is EXTREMELY powerful due to his gear, decades of training and overall abilities. This stuff is taught to him by the elite of the elite, the hardened backbone of the Garlean Empire, yet he can be brought down by numbers of the weaker masses just like the WoL. Beings such as Ultima Weapon, which are capable of destroying entire regions had to be combated using literal divine intervention, making one realise just how powerless the WoL is without the Goddess at their back at such crucial moments. The monetarists have never been beaten because they understand the limits to a person's power. Even the WoL can't beat a whole squadron of soldiers. Someone who can potentially flatten Gods can be beaten by regular men, just like Titan was by a handful of mercenaries upon his first arrival, before the WoL. This is why we don't have super powerful heroes/villains, because 'specials' only exceed normals by a set amount, and a King is only as powerful as the army backing him. Say this gets serious. Say shizzle really goes down with this bouncer and this ne'er-do-well. Say this troublemaker DOES happen to be a soul stone user who can shatter the earth beneath his feet. One or two more bouncers could very well do him in. He's not the WoL, he's most definitely not as powerful since he couldn't take half the stuff the WoL receives in an IC environment (lord knows I wouldn't wanna get buttslammed by Titan..). 'Specials' have a limit just like 'normals' do, but a smart 'normal' trumps an arrogant 'special' anyday.

It's highly dependent on the situation at hand. In this world, a 3 foot fairy-like fellow is able to box dragons to death with his fists if he receives the right training. While yes, in any circumstance where all characters are deemed 'normal', the roegadyn would most assuredly be the strongest due to being the largest of the lot. Though that's not the case and I don't need to go into the whole 'this isn't real life' rant when we've heard it a million times. While I have quite a degree of respect for people who play their characters as these 'normals' as they remind others that Eorzea is not full of superheroes, I'm not one of those people and neither was this fellow most likely. For all we know, he could very well be capable of mauling a fully-armoured roegadyn all Beowulf style. Though I think the actual problem with that scenario is that a player seemed intent on being a bit've a D-bag in an unnecessary fashion. Not even to make the event have a bit more flare to it with a conflict, but just to up-play his own ego OOCly. For YEARS, players have been treating the MMO world like it's a chaotic and lawless area because there've never been any IC guards or authority in any given areas, but when it actually comes along, you bet they're gonna whine about it. My opinion when it comes to being an IC bouncer? Talk with 'em OOC if it starts to nettle you, but if they're beyond reason, just have them ostracised from the event or encourage folks to ignore their behaviour. It sounds cruel in that wording, but it's for the better to just leave them to stew in their own bravado with nobody to pay them mind.

So Something Rather Creepy has Been Happening...

Eesh. That does sound quite iffy! The Yoshi-P is watching and catching judgment! -
Hmm! I originally came from Argent Dawn from WoW, Arcadia in SW and Celestial Hills in the game with not enough clothes! Mewonders if I've seen you in any..

"..Oh good. You're a Keeper. The kids won't have webbed feet." ... "..No, I'm not taking my moustache off." -
I'd check this site's list of FCs actually. Open RP is all well and jolly, and a good way to get your character's raw persona out (so long as it's not 18+ *cough*), but nothing beats being locked in a storyline created by your FC.

I'm not too sure about timelines right now, that's my main clinch, but the Garleans have been around for a long while, with a long time to do their annexation run. Capturing an Au Ra at a young age doesn't sound too far-fetched. Seems quite tame as far as 'contrived' stories go.

Lessee...I've been watching a lot of Gangsta lately. The western sort of theme and the tackling of serious issues like drugs, crime, corruption and prostitution in a classier light appeals to me a LOT. Though it's not too realistic luckily, so I still get teleporting super soldiers. Woo!

If Eses was genderswapped, he would be straight, and a menace to the female population. One of five things would happen. 1: Eses roams the world, fighting EVIL until he finds the right damsel to keep him tame. 2: Eses dies in that pursuit, because all the damsels are bimbos and fails to find Ms. Right. 3: Eses shacks up with a Keeper, and becomes the househusband due to feminism keepin' the man down...least he gets some, right? ..Right? 4: Eses makes the switch from hero to villain for being a worldwide heartbreaker/harasser. 5: Tiny Fafas everywhere. Ladies, thou hast been warned.

Aaand I'm back. Nope. Didn't know jack. I've checked the Prohibited Actions section and the User agreement, but this is all from 2013 before housing was a thing. From what I've seen, they like to emphasise that RMT is a no-no, but using gil as the sole mediator in a trade of virtual items is not against the rules. Chock that one up to human error, I'm afraid.

I'm not entirely sure that GM knew what he was talking about to be honest. I'm pretty familiar with being in customer service on the phone and being ABSOLUTELY clueless, so sometimes the best option for staff members is to fall on the script and become a broken record. He's a GM, but I doubt he actually knew all of the terms and conditions and assumed player-based trading that didn't involve the UI was illegal. It's quite unlikely you'll be caught unless personally reported, but this is what SE brought upon themselves by failing to meet player demand. The devs can't POSSIBLY believe themselves to be in the right in this situation for something that's their fault and for all we know, that GM was perhaps even talking out of his arse. Methinks I'll give the current T+C a check and bring an update.

Damn I wish I played a Garlean sometimes..villainy kicks so much butt.

So clunky that every job can be successfully played on controller? Also, I'd argue that most jobs are better improvised to the situation at hand as opposed to following a specific rotation, DRG being one of the only exceptions I can think of and even then there's a handful of skills up to player discretion. As for the lack of varying builds, well... the fact you can change your role at the press of a button more or less counters that. FFXIV would probably be a nightmare if they introduced heavy stat and skill selection. I've seen much slower games be run on controller. Keyboard and gamepad make very little difference other than preference of the player in my opinion. Also at the end of the day, even if you have all classes maxed out with the top gear, it doesn't make you unique as a character, it just means you've put a LOT more effort in than everyone else (also you have a lot less bank space..) and your cross-class skills don't really amount to much. I've seen a lot of the jobs and their abilities, and there are a LOT, ones we will wind up using at least once each, but the cruel truth is, once you assign yourself to a set class, your role and rotation with skill will be pretty much set in stone, differing only when say..as a DRG, I decide if I have the nads to use Geirskogul mid-combat with less than 20 seconds Blood time or utilise buffs or cross-class. THAT is the extent of my unique characteristics other than aesthetic. Sure, I can switch to WAR, but then I'd be all the same as the rest of the Warriors unless I suck beyond all compare, which places me at an odd situation with a lot less bank space. Your value as a player is henceforth solely deemed on your gear level and whether you bothered to level the other classes. While I get that this was likely implemented so you didn't have to keep making new characters through the INCREDIBLY lengthy storyline (great as it is), you're placed in a situation comparable with an MMO like Secret World with less loadout customisation and more a lineup of preset skills and a job you must perform when with groups depending on which class you chose. Sure, WoW may be the same scenario where your character is the only thing that's different when you choose your class/professions, but that game has had a lot more time for players to follow their own paths and decide for themselves what these will do with 33 (soon 36) potential rotations which are quite malleable because of talents. Another popular multiplayer game would be say..Team Fortress 2. One's loadout and personal choice in playstyle makes a world of difference for what narrow-minded folk believe to be 9 paths to take. What one thinks is a tanky fellow with high close/mid range damage could in fact be a lunatic with a one-shot melee streak combo or an off-chance healer in a pinch. TL;DR: We're not unique as characters, we're unique solely based on our merits, achievements and aesthetics. We can make minor alterations with cross-class abilities but we're pretty much the same. P.S. RP is the main pull for me here and I'm most likely a lunatic as a result.
