That's what most people on this site want. I havent heard anything bad about Mateus, to be honest, though I haven't seen anything bad in my (albeit limited) time there. I probably should've said something a lot more verbal about this before but..I can name a lotta friends of mine who came from Mateus to get away from the inhabitants and saw Balmung as just a 'good option' when looking at the server transfer list at the time. This sort of hostility towards people from Balmung isn't surprising to me at all, since if it happened literally any other server, there would be much better treatment. Well..except maybe Moogle or Zodiark..which is primarily French..or Exodus which is filled with e-peen-stroking PvE elitists who ragequit when getting hit by one AoE with a keyboard through the monitor. Anyhow, I'm actually wondering what made Mateus even stand out or seem like a good idea as opposed to more willing servers like Siren, Goblin or Cactuar.

I suppose this is coming at a point already way too late and I'm sure I missed this somewhere but..why Mateus? The place is already an inhospitable den of toxicity that people usually want to leave. What made people want to try and make it a new RP server?

The Importance of Consolidating RP on Balmung and Having One RP Hub

A lot of my friends actually came from Mateus. If this community is going to happen, it's got to purge the absolutely awful community that these people have been running away from. -
The Importance of Consolidating RP on Balmung and Having One RP Hub
Eses Fafa replied to Sig's topic in RP Discussion
I'm fairly certain Balmung is going to stay locked for a long while. Months at least. It's THAT overfilled, and Gilgamesh is not a good option unless you're going to create a community from near the ground up. (and it too, is very full and will not unlock for a long time) I'm honestly not saying that players SHOULD avoid splintering off and creating other communities, though if Balmung becomes the smaller community, Balmung will die out and most will move to the bigger one. That's the mindset of the overall roleplay community. Once the server swap is available again, Balmung will either be the smaller community by the end of it and the transfers out will commence or this new community will be off splintering again back to Balmung. It's not so much a solution to the situation, more a sorta grim truth. People say FFXIV is going to be different from other games but it really isn't. We're not a different breed of human. Then how do you explain Moon Guard and Wyrmrest Accord on WoW? Those are two healthy RP servers and people can just switch between them. There's no reason for it to be, "Balmung or nothing." Two things with that actually: 1: I came from a time when there were a total of four healthy roleplay servers, not two, and in the space of a few blissful years when everyone was happy just RPing for the sake of it, it became one server. One of the two will not last. 2: It's easier to switch between servers on WoW because character progression isn't as much of a chore on that game as it is this. FFXIV's biggest flaw is how unfriendly it is to make alts because of the story, which can take weeks of tediously running through the exact same content you did years ago, an action that emphasises on how much of an MMO this game is, because developing alts is more SOUL-DRAINING than any other MMO I've played thus far. That's WHY I welcome the upcoming boosts with open arms. There are various reasons why people want this new RP server, be it for the hatred of paying extra for transfer, home regions or even a change of pace, but the moment that the balance tips towards this new side, more people will want to leave Balmung until it becomes 'the old RP server'. If that happens, I'm not going to stand my ground and help Balmung's community remain when there's greener grass on the other side and neither will any other who finds a stronger and more enjoyable community. -

The Importance of Consolidating RP on Balmung and Having One RP Hub
Eses Fafa replied to Sig's topic in RP Discussion
It honestly depends on the mindset of the roleplayer. I'm sure someone's probably stated what I'm about to say in the 16 pages of this but I agree with the poster in the long run. I myself am European, and have originally started roleplay in Steamwheedle Cartel EU on WoW. As it was in its higher population and there were more options, people were just thrilled at the IDEA of roleplay. Unfortunately, most of the greater minds who create a stronger community are the ones who either heavily contribute to a primary RP server or wind up joining one. People can RP amongst themselves and I've been doing so on this game since 2013 with a group of 90% US players. There are, however, plenty of EU players on Balmung and if time restraints are that much of a problem, it's better to stay where all of the roleplayers are since those within their preferred area of time will be online anyways. If people try to create RP servers segregated by region, the night life will be sleepier, more boring and have less potential variety to be tapped into with the community. In regards to paying for transfer, Square Enix won't be keeping Balmung in this state for long, so placing focus towards the more heavily-populated roleplay servers like Gilgamesh as a temporary fix may be necessary. Keeping people apart only dulls the overall experience when there are so many creative minds under one roof. -
balmung Young Adventurer Looking for Teacher
Eses Fafa replied to SkyeArkwright's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hiya Skye! I wouldn't mind getting on contact. This one's a nomadic with a love for all things heroic and romanticised. I can't promise much in terms of direct training but as a teacher. She's had experience as a leader and has gone through enough bumps in her philosophical road to try and teach other people to follow the road of goodness and philanthropy. Just an option available for a less 'grim' character! -
Aah, thank you for the nice message! Here's the latest commission I finished (and mentioned in one of my other posts), for Ruran! There's also a version without glasses ehe~ http://orig09.deviantart.net/62e7/f/2017/145/a/e/ruran__glasses__by_nieruu-dbadwe4.png[/img] Now working on the next!~ Oh boy oh boy..

I used to have an Owlkin who followed Eses around ICly. It was adorable to everyone else but she just kept insulting its existence, well aware that it doesn't understand her.

I generally prefer to toggle walk mode and pick a location then walk and see who snags..works surprisingly well on some days!

Eses is terrified of her drunk personality: Giggly, illogical, unnecessarily clingy and extremely amorous towards her intended target should said target be present in the area. She'd openly avoid the champagne in the ballroom to avoid trying to mack her partner on the dance floor..in front of sophisticated individuals.

I already have the moustache for the job! But seriously, I'd love to get involved in things like that, if not DMing something to make other investigators squirm.
-
Welcome to the club! Yeah, BDO's a bit grating on the soul and GW2..that RP community is deeeaad. You'll find this one a lot more open and accomodating!

Alright, THIS is adorable. I so wanna get in on this.

discussion Your thoughts on jump potions?
Eses Fafa replied to Parth Makeo's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I've seen worse sins out there with this game, that being PAYING FOR RETAINERS. As it stands, I feel like the Jump Potion should only be made available to a player who's already completed the content to be finished within the jump potion, since making alts is one of the most tedious and soul-draining experiences within this game. The developers got it in their heads that only one character was important and name change + Fantasia was the solution, so when they finally did this, I was quite relieved. Some people lack the mental capacity (myself included) to be able to rerun content they've already done several times over without becoming stressed out, and there's no point to a game if it's going to ruin the player's experience. -
I'm sure we don't need the talk on how IRL racism is bad, but admittedly I dabble in the guilty pleasure of ICly making fun of Seekers of the Sun for their incestuous backgrounds. Though, there would be plenty of causes for people to be racist towards fellow Eorzeans that aren't Beast Tribes; Hydaelyn knows we've killed enough of those. Vast difference in build causing intimidation or jealousy. (That Roe's size scares me or that 'Qote's adorably timid frame makes me jelly..what? No, totally not placing favourites.) A member of another race committing a horrific crime that forces your character into a state of prejudice. Preconceived notions of the popular negative personality traits of other races told to you by people. (To be fair, I wouldn't go near most Miqo'te if the very LORE says they're commonly xenophobic or reclusive) That person is different and Papa-Uncle-Cousin Cletus told you difference is bad. Plenty of other reasons, but those are some of the most common. Doesn't hurt to spice this cutesy world up with some EVIL I suppose.

balmung Mafia Guild looking for connections.
Eses Fafa replied to Lilira Lira's topic in Chronicled Connections
Villains?! In my neighbourhood?! Why I never! By my honour as a hero, you shall be put to justice! Ah, but seriously, I'd love to organise a position as a minor antagonist to your guys sometime. I love me a mafia group that's willing to have a little fun with the world it's in. -
Creeks and truth. Naturally, for a hero such as I!

I can understand the lack of desire to play a race for its popularity, but it's popular for a variety of reasons that shouldn't be grounds to turn away from on account of being part of the mainstream. All races have their own lore which can make them on par with filthy tribal monkeys, yet all races have people who dabble in advanced magic and technology, so anything goes for an alchemist or machinist. I would say to go miqo'te, since that's the one you're comfortable with at first glance, and you're less inclined to gain an attachment to them if you choose another. As for the lalafell relationship problem..yeah, I don't even have a solution to that, even if my char did ICly date a lala dude player before. It's sort've a..needle in a haystack situation.

Okay, picture this, folks! The world of FFXIV is in fact a classic/Japanese RPG title and your character is a part of it. Explain what role your character would serve within the traditionally stereotype setting of your RPG world. Each title's timeline would be based on each of the patches, starting with 1.0, Realm Reborn and finally Heavensward. Would they be a minor character, a citizen with looping text prompts, or even a major character? Would they transform over time? For mine, it would be like this! 1.0: Eses would be a young and minor merchant character in one of the main cities, selling low-level trinkets and items for the player before tackling the starting zone. The player's party would meet several of the Fafa family, who look remarkably resemblant of this merchant, and each serve their own minor or comical purpose with no real impact on the story other than a minor slice of lore that players could follow over time for the fun of it. Realm Reborn: Eses would receive an upgrade in importance, having gone on a journey of self-discovery, she develops into a stronger individual, looking to be one of the player's starting party members with an all-round stat system focused around strong individual spear attacks, Jumps, stuns, DoTs and debuffs, but also a rather solid natural defense, and an allowance for mail/character specific plate. She would be sorely lacking in healing or magical abilities, making her a mostly damage-focused character which would be suited towards more simplistic playstyles, or prone to being swapped out for more buff-oriented characters, tank builds or the inevitable cheese mechanic party for certain bosses. Her story development would be less about her interactions with potential antagonists and more about overcoming self-doubt and becoming stronger for their friends and loved ones. If they are in the party when meeting their cameo relatives, a special dialogue will be triggered each time. Heavensward: Eses would be a returning party member, with improved mechanics such as iframes, rally buffs and powerful charged attacks to deal with the scaling difficulty as well as improving on the complexity of her playstyle. Her story would revolve around veterancy and realising her interactions in the past become a part of her as she grows older, but must remember to carve a path for the next generation of young heroes, looking to set an example for the younger members of the party by serving as a mentor, and tutorial character at the start of the game. An optional character quest would reveal a council of Fafa's, which would involve a collaboration of small, irritating cat people gathered in a circle discussing family politics. This serves little purpose to the story itself, but would give Eses a character-specific trinket which serves well during endgame content at the end. So then, what would your character be in such a setting?

Aww yeah! Dat mercenary love!

Heya! Sooooo I need a touch of advice here. Some time ago, my RP FC disbanded and sorta shut off from the RP scene to go in hiatus, however still ICly functions in the background. My character is a diehard and incessantly follows around this new family she built in the group, so from an IC stance, it'd make sense to have her simply represent them on her travels. I'm still in contact with all of the previous FC members OOCly, and there are plans later down the line to reform socially and ICly, but during that time I'm sorta sat on my own with what's essentially become a group of NPC friends. So I was thinking, what if I took to the public scene with a different version of my current character? Same deal, but with minor alterations in her story which allow her to detach from the old group so I can roleplay with other people and build new connections. My problem is this: What if the FC's IC group really does reform during this time? Naturally, it's the one thing I desire the most since they're now the singular biggest anchor for my character's reason to fight, personal development, friendships and romantic partnership, and I really want to return to the old version, though any connections made during my time as this newer incarnation would be awkwardly altered once it happens, and I have no desire to make a new character. Tl;dr: -My FC is dead for now but plans to rebuild the IC connections later -My character's buddies and waifu are there ICly -I don't wanna change character -I wanna make it so my character can start off fresh -I'm scared of switching back to the character I wanted to be once it's fixed. Any thoughts?

Gil and You - Your character's relationship with wealth
Eses Fafa replied to Chompie's topic in Fun Prompts
Eses is practicing for married life, by giving every bit of money to her partner whenever she finds it. Not that she'd actually have a use for it..she's happy with a bath, a bed and food.
