Elsewhere in the forest... The Twelveswood was in its calm before the storm. The forest was already known for its huge tree canopies that cast large shadows on the forest floor, but the overcast sky made the morning even darker. However, this was not a problem for the small figure who followed the trail left by a group of Ixal. She knelt on the leaf-littered forest floor, and examined the tracks left by their bird-like feet. Her lithe fingers, exposed by her black fingerless gloves, lightly touched the indention of the foot-print to measure its depth, and the hardness of the soil itself. She closed her dark blue eyes, and sniffed the air several times. “They are not far!” She said to herself as she furrowed her brows, and slowly rose to her feet. Kiht Jakkya was in her hunting gear. Deepwood green and black leathers with a velveteen bandana, an assortment of knives and two harpoon spears strapped to her back. She had a rather serious expression as she looked ahead to survey the continuing Ixal trail. The Ixal had no idea that Kiht was following them. That, or they did not care. The lone Moon-Keeper scout had started on her nightly hunt, but she picked up the trail of the Ixal, and her personal vendetta against their kind made her decide to pursue them. This was not the first time she had done something like that. Her anger often fueled her to follow them, to watch them and to learn about them. There was little in the world she hated more than the Ixal. Normally, Kiht would be heading home at that time of day. She preferred to be nocturnal, but she would not give up her hunt that easily. She was happy that the sky was overcast, and felt that the coming storm only gave her an advantage. The more shadow, the better. The rain did not concern her. She knew how to fight in a downpour if she had to. However, she had not planned on fighting. There were far too many Ixal for her to fight. She would trail the menacing Beastmen, and report their activity to any authority with the means to stop them. Any day Kiht could turn Wood Wailers against Ixal, and watch them fight each other was a good day. If only it were so easy this time.....

I would like to give a big ol  to Siha Xinkei who's alt, Taiga Jakkya, is the best cousin I could ask for with my character. I could point to several RPs, but all the ones we have had with the Morbolvine Clan has been great. Even the one where Kiht and Taiga were a bit mad at each other.

Who would be your character's voice actor?
Knight Kat replied to TheLastCandle's topic in Fun Prompts
Okay..... Here goes. TheLastCandle actually chose this voice for Kiht, and I think it's perfect. Regardless of whether or not people think the voice matches the character in the series, I think it does match Kiht pretty well. I guess the VA's name is Trina Nishimura. -

I could write an essay of advice, but if I had to choose a few key pieces of advice, it would be on how to find RP if you are shy. Just look for fun. Do not be too specific in your search for RP. If I was bored, I worked on my character wiki, or explored in-game. I entertained myself while keeping my eyes open for RP opportunities. I made a scouting journal that gave me reason to explore in-game, and I watched a lot of random RP while doing so. There is always leveling your character as well, but that does not help in a search for RP. That brings me to my next piece of advice. Be willing to watch and learn. Watch RP and be fine with just watching if you are too nervous to insert yourself. Sometimes my shy RP friends come to RP with one of my groups, but get discouraged if my character can't engage them directly the moment they arrive, so they leave. YOU CANNOT GET RP IF YOU LEAVE. Get back there and RP with some of the others. Become part of the group. If you focus on just your one friend, your character will never meet others, and never be part of the group. However, if your character is just like that, its totally fine. Just do not let yourself OOCly rage-quit because of something minor. Adapt to the scene, do not expect the scene to adapt to you. If you can't insert your character right away. Watch the scene awhile. Some entertaining stuff might happen, and an opportunity can present itself. Enjoy the show, and maybe throw in a few emotes every so often to show them that your character is ICly watching them. Do not have expectations, and do not give up. It does not matter what your character is, or what your character does, do not go searching with expectations and limitations. You want to enter a bar? Do it. "But my character does not drink alcohol." Then get some damn tea. Want to go to Thanalan? "But my character does not go to Thanalan." You had some bad tea, and while intoxicated, took a caravan to Thanalan. Your character wakes up there; not knowing how the heck he/she got there. Yes, those are silly reasons, and I am kinda joking, but not entirely. Come up with a reason to do what you want to do. Come up with a reason for your character to exploit an opportunity. Do not try to come up with reasons not to do something, or things will get really frustrating in your search. Keep searching with an open mind that is open to opportunities.

This is excellent, and deserves a bump. OMG there are a lot of shy RPers out there, and I use to be one of them to an extreme extent. It took me a month of trying before I got any real RP. Or, should I say, a month of lurking like a creeper. If I could go from -that- to where I am now, I don't see why anyone couldn't. I got past it with experience. I just kept trying and trying and trying. Do you mind if others add advice to this thread?

It was a lot of fun to do an RP event with the Unsung Heroes to save Pyralis from an army of FUBAR. Only one from the Exiled Order came to help since only two were online at the time, and one of the two had somehow become a freakin Lalafell. Now I know none of that made much sense, so PICTURES! Epic entry. You know shite is going to go down when someone summons a rock golem to fight by our side! Cris was totally into it..... You do not get much more of an epic battle-ground than this. Nykkus is her name I believe. First one on the scene. Very cool character. These two fought a witch..... That's how crazy things were. Yeah.... Avoid the bombs, and everything should be fine. Cris is pissed, and so is our ally golem, Rocky. One will axe you a question, the other will teach you geometry! This archer is a fashion statement..... I wish I had got more pictures, but these are some cool ones at least. There were two others, but Cris blinked in those..... -

Ah, well no problem. Sorry for bugging you then. You were not bugging us at all. Please do not take any of it personally. They were joking about avoiding you, I promise. -
Ishgardians, Thank You for Helping with the Plot.
Knight Kat replied to Knight Kat's topic in RP Discussion
No, no one uses meta information here. Its just that, as I -tried- to explain to Pyralis (who I am assuming OOCly told you about us), we are no longer looking for Ishgard antagonists right now. I am bummed I did not know about you when we were doing chapter one However, chapter two is going to focus on another issue entirely. Of course, I am not saying at all that you can't RP with any of the exiles. I do not control anyone here, nor would I try to. They are free to seek you out as a personal antagonist if any of them want. I am just saying that without plans to make you our antagonist, you will find the exiles quite secretive towards everyone they meet. Aya is an exception because she has her Ishgard accent, and she is a blonde, so keeping secrets is not her forte . Vincent is a highly specific character it seems; also, even with the reason to get involved that many exiles will have, I do not see him readily joining in because he hates conflict. We will see what happens. I am sorry I am being vague to everyone right now, but I will present everyone with our reasoning for getting involved in that up-coming plot soon enough. -

Ishgardians, Thank You for Helping with the Plot.

UPDATE! Before I write anything else, I want to make it clear that the Exiled Order is not done, and the LS is not over. We have built a foundation, and are -now- going to use it to try and get into the open-world. Basically, I have to admit, I have kinda run out of ideas for the Ishgard plot for now, and really did not want to admit it to myself or anyone else. This is simply because I find Ishgard lore kinda lacking opportunity for character conflict. It would be better if people played loyal Ishgard knights and inquisitors like people play Garleans. But, unfortunately, my search for antagonists turned up one inquisitor who never plays and Xydane who was great, but is now done with the plot for now. Also, because it turned out that we were not actually facing the Faces of Mercy, Ishgard antagonists are not as viable now. The truth is, fighting NPCs is going to get old. HOWEVER! A recent IC occurrence with one of Kiht's contacts was quite alarming. There is a new plot starting in the community, and Kiht has more than enough reason to get involved, but at first, I did not see why the exiles would. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=7284 The new revelation is now going to pull her in, and it would likely give most of your characters reason to get pulled in as well. I am not certain if this is ok with the DMs of the plot, so I will ask them. In chapter one, we built a foundation group of exiles and expatriates. They are now trying to start over, and live new lives in the rest of Eorzea. I do not want to give any spoilers, but there is a great reason for them to get involved in this new plot. I will, of course, continue to lead our LS, but once we take part in someone else's plot, I will not be a DM/GM anymore. I can, however, represent our interests. Again, I need to ask permission before we can get involved in any way, but one of the DMs kinda already game me a huge hook into the plot. If anyone wants more details on why their character might get involved, send me a PM. I just do not want to spoil anything here. -
[align=center]The Lalafell caster simply laughed manically when Byron started running. To him, he was thinking he had scared the Hyur into a panic, and it pleased him. He just had to keep casting, he thought. He figured he would hit the Hyur, eventually. “Hahaha where do you think you are going, boy?!” The caster said in a screech-like tone. When Byron took cover behind what he thought was a weird tree, the Lalafell cast another lightning bolt. That would turn out to be a major error. Neither of the two knew that the odd-looking tree was in fact a Treant. A living embodiment of the Twelvewood's wrath. Or at least, that is what Kiht often believed. As Byron ran to the sleeping Banemite, the Treant would awaken; quite angry about its new injury. “ERRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAARRRRRR!!” The Treant lets out a loud, gravely roar that rivals the frightening sound of an adult Morbol. The thing animates and begins stomping towards the Lalafell. “The Hells?!” The caster shouts, and readies a fire spell. “Shite!” It was unfortunate that Byron hadn't stopped after the Treant because the roar, and the shaking ground from the stomping Treant roused the Banemite. The huge vilekin let out a series of sputtering hisses and rose on its legs. However, it would not see Byron at first. It would see no one in its direct line of sight. As it rotated, it would only see Byron if he stayed next to it, but if Byron takes cover, the Banemite will begin to aimlessly wander the area to ascertain the situation. On the other hand, Banemites were pretty dumb, so it would likely wander in confusion until it found a target. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kiht Jakkya ran to another tree as an arrow narrowly missed her. She had her short-bow ready, and an arrow knocked. Her back was to her new tree as she had her head turned, and her body prepared to come around the trunk for a shot. Kiht had to admit to herself that she was nervous. Her archery skills in combat had never been tested to this extent. She felt she needed to get closer to use her lance. However, both Kiht and the Seeker archer turned their head to regard the new commotion brought about by Byron and the Lalafell. Kiht knew what that unmistakeable roar was caused by. She looked over and saw the awakening Banemite as well. “.....Gods, I know I told Byron I did not care how he distracted the caster, but I did not think he would bring the Greenwrath.” Kiht said to herself with widened eyes. She turned her attention back to her archer foe. It seems Byron did cause quite the distraction. For now, she needed to focus on her task. The Seeker archer was only distracted as long as Kiht, so the skirmish quickly resumed. Kiht and the assassin archer moved from tree to tree as they tried to shoot each other with arrows. This went on for many minutes. Kiht was not as skilled with the bow as she could have been, and the Seeker was not use to forest combat. This made both of them miss shot after shot. Arrows were running low, and daylight was running out. The clever Seeker archer realized what Kiht was doing; trying to close the distance. At first, she had thought killing Kiht from a distance would be the most efficient way, but it was getting to the point where that was not that case. The assassin had now sized her opponent up, so she was ready to change her plan. She could tell that she was ilms taller than Kiht which might give her more strength, and partially help make up for the greater reach that Kiht had with her two-pronged lance. The Seeker assassin was a specialist in close-quarters combat as she had trained with Pugilists, and in an exotic art of dagger-fighting. Kiht would have an advantage in reach, but the Seeker figured that she had every other physical advantage. It was time to end this fight, she was ready to close the distance if her target wanted that so badly. “Kiht, right?” The Seeker calls out in a taunting tone of voice. “Lets end this bow-play, and just get right to it, shall we?” Kiht was behind yet another tree when she heard the Seeker. She only had two arrows left, so she had to admit it was going to a melee fight soon. However, she would not be foolish. She came out from behind the tree; ready to fire then dodge. But, the Seeker was a lot closer than Kiht had thought. She was twenty fulms away, and walking towards Kiht while twirling to dirks in her hands. Kiht fires her arrow, but the Seeker was expecting that very move so she fell into a forward diagonal roll as Kiht took aim and fired. Kiht missed, and the Seeker charged. Kiht now had a choice to fire her last arrow, or draw her spear. If she fired again and missed, the assassin would be on top of her and she would not be ready for melee. If she drew her spear she would do so just in time to have it ready for battle. So, Kiht chose what she had more confidence in; her lance. Her two-pronged heart guisarme came to bear on the charging assassin who silently cursed as she forced herself to stop before she charged into the spear tips. The Seeker faced off against Kiht now in a battle-ready stance with her dual daggers. Now that Kiht was closer, she could see that she faced a Sun-seeker Miqo'te and not a fellow Moon-keeper. Kiht was relieved that she was not facing kin, but still angry that a Miqo'te would work for the assassins. “Sun-sister! How could you work for Ishgard assassins! Do you even know what you are killing for?” Kiht asked in a fierce tone as her ears pinned back on her head. “I am not your sister, and I do not know what you are talking about, you are going to -die- because you refused my employer... No one refuses my employer!” The Seeker assassin said as she grew a sneer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile, back at Byron's forest party, the Lalafell caster fired off a fireball at the charging Treant. He figured fire would be good to use against a living tree. However, what he didn't keep in mind was that trees do not burn down instantly if lit aflame. He suddenly had a furious flaming Treat chasing him while pounding the ground with its branches; trying to crush the fleeing Lalafell caster. “Swive me!” He said as he ran faster than he had ever had to in his life. Thanks for the answers thus far everyone. I am kinda thinking about In-character abilities that can be used rather than what the game mechanics alone portrays. For example, would anyone use a GLD flash IC? Do you think it would be widely accepted by most if someone did that? I play my character as a Lancer, not a Dragoon, but I am still not sure on what that means or entails. I am not sure what I should make my character capable of and not capable of. That is the main reason why I am asking. I believe this can help other players develop their characters as well.

balmung Looking for characters for a Moon-Keeper based RP FC
Knight Kat replied to Knight Kat's topic in Chronicled Connections
I just want to clarify that she means no more characters will be allowed to join the FC -unless- they join as members of the Polaali, Molkot or Jakkya families. Those main three families are still open for recruitment, we simply have enough employees and adopted members. -

So I am reaching out to all those savvy with lore to find out if there is anything in the lore that says non-magic-users can use aether to enhance physical abilities, or channel aether into attacks. (i.e. Lancers, Archers, Pugilists, Gladiators and Marauders). If so, to what end? How does it work, and to what level of intensity? I realize that there may not be answers to these questions, but I thought I would try asking. I am curious for various reasons. I have heard that the Monk story quests talk about the use of aether for Monks, but have never leveled Monk, so I do not know the details. Also, in the Lancer story quests...
