  2. Windrunner: "Kweh!" Kiht: "What's that you say? Billy fell in a well?" "Lets us be off to save him!" "Yah! Onward Windrunner." Kiht later found out that Windrunner's "Kweh" simply meant that he was hungry.... Or maybe I just posted this to show off Windrunner's new colors.
  3. I think that there are more virtues and vices that exist other than the ones listed, but if I had to choose from that list; Kiht Jakkya would have Faith as a virtue, and Pride as a vice. She has been through a lot of hardship, but never looses her faith in the Twelve, or faith in her traditions. She sticks to a code of honor that she has almost absolute faith in. This has even caused problems for her; including, her greatest regret. And yet, she still has faith. As she has observed the world around her, she often feels that many others are more problematic or dysfunctional than she is. She takes pride in her judgement and perceptions to a high degree. She often lectures other people, but does not easily take being lectured -by- other people well. Her pride is not as bad as some other characters she has met, and she can also be very humble. However, the pride is there, and it is strong.
  4. I just realized that I hardly pay attention to the comparison of DOT skill cooldowns/damage and such, so the skills I design may be a bit unintentionally OP. However, this is all just in good fun. Serious skills Lancer/Dragoon Entangle Cast: Instant Duration: 5 s Cooldown: 30 s Cost: 10 TP Range: Melee (single target) Kiht attacks the target's limbs with a hooking, slashing, entrapping or striking attack using her pole-arm. The target is stunned for five seconds, and they take 10% more damage during that duration. Any Class/Job. Morbol Dagger Cast: Instant Duration: 15 s Cooldown: 120 s Cost: 50 TP Range: 20.0y Kiht throws a dagger at the target that is coated with Morbol toxin. The target suffers the infamous Morbol "Bad Breath" debuff for a duration of 15 seconds. Skills Kiht would not admit to... Kiht is Dense Cast: Instant Duration: 10 s Cooldown: Can only be used once during each instance. Cost: 0 TP Range: Visual. Kiht has no idea what's going on. She is stunned for the first 5 seconds, and has 50% less accuracy during the other 5 seconds. However, she cannot be buffed or debuffed during the whole 10 seconds. Innocent Insults Cast: Instant Duration: 2 s Cooldown: 10 s Cost: 0 TP Range: 20y (single target) Kiht shouts what she thinks is a morale-breaking insult at target. Insults she may use: Tailless Curr. Boar-brain. Traitorous Moon-brother/sister. Poor Excuse for a Miqo'te. Diremite Food. Ziz-dung. Foolish Male. Silly Male. Dishonorable Boar. Useless Hyur. Knife Ears. Over-sized Bone-head. Prepare for a Harpoon. I Will Skewer You. Ixal Toy. Jerk. Target has a 20% chance of being stunned for 2 seconds because of an uncontrollable outburst of laughter.
  5. Thank you all for your great answers. I have considered all of the angles presented by you all. I guess the specifics I am looking for are just not entirely there. See, I personally am not trying to make a god-mode-ish weapon. However, simply making Kiht "good" with it is not good enough. My character is ICly a Lancer, not a Dragoon. However, I have come to notice that there are just as many characters who play their abilities on a "fantasy powers" scale, as there are who play on a more "realistic" scale. But, that is a topic for another thread. My point is, I have noticed that my character can ICly do very little against Dragonfire Dives, fireball spells, lightning blasts, ect. It dawned on me that there are resistance materia though. Instead of trying to use materia that will make her stronger or faster to an unknown degree, I decided that I can and will use the elemental resistance materia to give her a chance against those who may be a bit more on the "fantasy powers" scale of things. Since the elemental materia only give -resistances- against magic, they will not give her an advantage towards anyone who fights her on a more "realistic" scale. This is my solution that I think will work for me. Again, I am not really trying to make her more powerful. I just wanted to give her a chance against all these characters with freaking 'powerz' out there. Anyways, I have written this because I wanted to tell everyone the reason for my original questions, and offer my own 2 cents on the topic. I would still encourage more responses to the thread if anyone has any.
  6. "Tsk!" Kiht furrowed her brows as she watched the three Hyur chatter about the safety of the one conjurer girl, apparently named Clover. So many thoughts and protests were produced in her mind, but the usually opinionated Kiht said nothing. There was not enough time to argue with a couple of Hyur males. She listened to them carefully even though her mind raced to assess things. The situation was becoming more real in her mind. Kiht and Xydane would not be enough to fight all the Ixal directly. If there were as many as Kiht thought there would be, they would be just too outnumbered. Kiht still said nothing as she thought Xydane would not likely care too much about odds. "We need you to alert the Adder" Andre said to Clover. Kiht continued to listen. “Go with Andre, you'll be safe with him.” Xydane said then paused. “When I return, I want to see what new flowers you have grown.” It was then that Xydane turned to Kiht, and asked if she was ready. The problem was, she was not ready now. She could bear it no longer. There was little time, but she had to say what was on her mind. There was more at stake than the life of this pretty girl, and Kiht was thinking that Clover was much more than what these males treated her like. Kiht could see that Clover was no battle Conjurer. She barely healed Andre. However, Kiht was not buying it completely. She was about to do something born from her family code of honor that emphasized the idea of courage. It was probably a bit stupid too. "Understood. I will inform the Adder of the current situation... Clover had said in response to the men. "Nay!" Kiht said as she pointed at Clover and took a small step towards her. Kiht's ears pined back on her green bandana as her tail lashed behind her. She gave the Hyur woman a determined stare then took a glance at the two men. "You all fail to understand that there is no time. By the time she gets back to Gridania there will be no trail for the Adders to follow. This storm will do a small rearrangement of this landscape that will leave no trace of the Ixal trail." Kiht said in a clear tone to the men then quickly turned he gaze back to Clover. "You, the one named after a small plant. You are a Conjurer." Kiht stated in a tone that was a bit stern. She knew she had to hurry with what she wanted to say before the men went crazy. "I can not cast a spell even if my life depended on it, nor can either of these two -males-." Kiht lowered her hand to her side. "But you, and others like you... Mages are one of the biggest reasons why the Garleans have not conquered Eorzea yet." Kiht stepped a short few paces to her left, and pointed to the forest. "The spirits that created this place have bestowed upon you a gift. Have you never heard their voices, or seen things they wanted to show you? Do they really want you to go home and tend to some flowers?!" Kiht asked in a slightly exasperated tone. "They." Kiht pointed to Andre then Xydane. "Can not force you to do anything. They want to protect you, and that is noble of them, but I say you should stop, and listen to the Elementals instead of always abiding by what -they- think is best." Kiht turned away and faced towards the direction of the caravan ambush site. "You all do what you will, but there is not enough time to get the Adders, and the lives of those taken are at stake. Not only that, but the summoning the Ixal intend must be stopped. We need all the help we can get, and someone who can commune with the Elementals in some way would be very valuable. You two would -know- that if you would step back, and stop only thinking about the safety of this one woman." Kiht crossed her arms and scowled, but she was smiling in her mind. Even if they got angry, and even if they did not agree, she said what she thought needed to be said. Now, she was ready.
  7. So, Kiht wants to look into ICly affixing Materia to one of her weapons. However, most of the materia enhancements make sense if they were attached to armor; elemental resistances, enhanced strength, enhanced speed (maybe), ect. I am unsure of what effect materia would ICly have on a lance. In the game-mechanics, it just applies an enhancement bonus to your stat pool. But I am not sure how to translate that into RP, or even if I should. The way I'm going about it is, the only materia that will be IC is the materia attached to her favored weapon. I am assuming that materia would be ICly rare or expensive, so she will only ICly have a couple for her lance. Does anyone know any lore on materia that may help with this situation? If not, does anyone else ICly use materia, and how do you translate it into your RP?
  8. YAR! There be Moon-sister pirates in Coerthas!
  9. Kiht rides her small, somewhat unruly Chocobo named Windrunner. He is super quick, and can maneuver well over rough terrain. Chocobos are great. The only mount I would choose over a Chocobo, if it were available, is a Raptor mount. Kiht is small enough to where a large raptor could hold her; I would think. In the minion guide description, it says that Goblins use raptors as beasts of burden. So, they can be raised and domesticated. Or I could have Kiht ride a large white wolf...
  10. I seriously was not planning on posting again, but the new event gave me great photo ops! Last post! I promise think!
  11. WOO! Now Senpai might notice me! Hm... Senpai still does not notice me... ... What about now, Senpai? Or now?
  12. Yay, another thread about weapons. Kiht has a large collection of weapons now. However, she does not carry them all with her at all times. The primary weapon she chooses greatly depends where she is going, and what she thinks she is likely to face. The only weapon she has with real sentimental value is a weapon she does not use anymore. It is a Feathered Harpoon made by her father. She always carries two Mythril hunting knives as side arms. These are always on her belt no matter where she goes. She always has a smaller hidden dagger somewhere on her body as well. Now, for primary weapons. Going over all of Kiht's weapons would be TL;DR worthy, so I will focus on her most commonly used primary weapons. Her Harpoons: Kiht was raised with these things, and they are widely used in Gridania. Even the elite guards of the Elder Seed Seer use a Gerbald's/Darklight Harpoon. A Gridanian Harpoon when hunting game primarily for hides. This weapon has a great color for camouflage. It can be used for blunt-force attacks, and piercing attacks. A Gerbald's Redspike is used when she goes into urban environments for business. It is a high-quality Harpoon that is great for giving tavern/street thugs a smack on the head if they try to bully her. Pole-arms: When she knows she is going into battle, she will take one of her Guisarme. They have spikes and hooks. She finds their elaborate designs to be versatile, and usually melds materia with them. When she needs a light weapon that is more inconspicuous, she uses her Steel Spear. Nothing special about it. It is versatile, practical and very light. She also uses it when hunting game primarily for meat. Others: Kiht can use javelins, but almost never carries them anymore. If she knows she is going into battle, she will bring poisoned throwing daggers. When hunting fast game, or doing covert scouting, she uses a velocity short-bow made by a Moon-keeper friend. Again, she does not carry all these at once. Typically, she has one pole-arm, her hunting knives and one hidden dagger. To Kiht, her weapons are just tools for battle. Her collection is always growing.
  13. Ah, yes. I re-watched the opening movie. It has been awhile since I saw it, and I could have sworn I remember seeing the GC leaders get beamed away, but I was wrong. I also read an Eorzea timeline on the internet that said at the end that the CG leaders returned after five years to reinstate their respective Grand Companies. That must have been a BS source. Thank you all who answered my questions! This actually makes it so my time-line works better.
  14. I am making a time-line for my character, but there is one thing I need to get straight. During the Calamity, Louisoix Leveilleur used the Wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey magic to send the Warriors of light, and the leaders of the Grand Companies into a five year time stasis right?? (Or whatever it's called) During that five years, does anyone know if the Grand Companies were still in operation? More specifically I want to know about the Twin Adder, but why not include the others in the question too? Since this is a lore topic, please reference your sources.
  15. Yes..... This is where he lurks. *Waits for him to return while holding spear in hand.*
  16. Alright, here's my attempt. Welcome to the Lavender Beds Finally a use for those sexy poses that Kiht would hardly ever ICly use.
  17. It was true, the three did know each other. That could be a problem, but Kiht did not have time to think about it. Xydane regarded her, and asked her a question. She was more than willing to answer given that the situation was urgent and needed explanation. She may not have been with the caravan, but she was almost certain she now understood the situation. "Right, I have been tracking a force of Ixal. I mean a massive force, Xydane. Small army sized. Apparently, they attacked the caravan that these two were a part of." Kiht said as she pointed to Andre and Clover. "Took many people captive, and left." She looked up at the sky and pointed to it with her index finger. "See that? That is going to wash away their tracks." She looked back to Andre and Clover. "We can not delay. The only reason I know of that would make the Ixal take live captives is that they want to offer them as sacrifices to Garuda. If they intend a summoning, they must be stopped." Kiht was speaking in a tone of urgency, but was making sure to be clear and concise in the way she was talking. She turned her gaze back to Xydane. "I need to quickly examine the site of the attack on the caravan, and then we can go after them." Kiht meant to infer that Xydane and herself should go after the Ixal. She would not be expecting the unarmed couple to come along. However, she felt that sense of urgency pushing her to get to the point. She felt there was little time to ask questions. Droplets of rain started to fall onto her bandana and leathers. She could already feel her sense of smell beginning to dull. There was little time. "What say you?" She asked Xydane as she crossed her arms.
  18. Suddenly, two figures became visible up ahead of Kiht and Andre. She could tell quickly enough that they were not Ixal, but Kiht was not expecting two people. Regardless, she slung her harpoon onto her shoulder. She would not approach them with a weapon in her hands, and potentially scare them. Once they got close enough, ("the Fates must be jesting...") Kiht thought to herself, and came to a halt. They found Andre's female companion, and Xydane Vale... Kiht felt a combination of shock and resignation to what felt like a huge practical joke at her own expense. Xydane had a way of showing up when Kiht least expected him. Thanalan, Limsa Lominsa and now the Twelveswood. The man who Kiht saw as a big complication had just entered into the scenario. It was true that he helped Kiht and her friends in the past, but he could have just as easily become an enemy. In her opinion, Xydane would either be a great help, or a path to the Seven Hells. Kiht hadn't missed the female holding Xydane's hand. It meant she knew him, there was a bond there. The way she regarded Andre, and went straight to him, there was a bond there too. It was possible they all knew each other. Had Xydane been traveling with them? Kiht wondered. She regarded Xydane. He had some blood on him, but was not wounded. He had killed the other Ixal scout, Kiht was almost certain of it before he even had to tell her. He was well-armed while the other two were not. This was the one oddity she could not solve instantly through quick assessment. Kiht tried to maintain a serious expression, but some of her shock would show enough in her expression for astute eyes to see. She was no longer very interested in the two unarmed Hyur. Her mind now wanted to know why Xydane was there, and what he would do to either help or hinder her. "Xydane..." Kiht stated in a clear voice as she locked her gaze on him.
  19. This is a more realistic take on my character using these scales. Using game mechanics, Kiht's strength stat might make her a poor Lancer. But IMHO, in a more realistic scenario, strength is not key to being a good Lancer. Even if I am wrong, Kiht is somewhat unconventional in her Lancer techniques anyways. Strength(STR): 12; Kiht is surprisingly strong for her size, but she is small, and lacks raw muscle mass compared to most other fighters she meets who are often bigger than she is. Constitution: 12; Kiht is barely above average. She has a strong will, and is use to wilderness survival. Dexterity(DEX): 19; A well-trained Ninja might be more dexterous than Kiht, but very few others would match her. She is swift, agile, and accurate with incredible balance. Even if you tripped her, she would be back on her feet in very little time. This is her key in combat. Intelligence(INT): 10; Kiht has had little formal education, and hates mind games. She can think of decent plans, but needs time. Her wits are often sluggish, and she is often dense in regards to learning technical details. When people explain things to her, they often have to be clear and concise, or she can have trouble. Wisdom(WIS): 17; Kiht's mental saving grace, and the key to her ability as a leader. She is astute and observant. She knows when to get noticed and when to stay "under the radar". When she does learn something, she can apply it in great ways. She may not be smart enough to play mind games well, but fooling her is difficult, no one has ever tricked her into doing something she would not want to do. She is good at looking at the big picture. Charisma(CHA): 10; She can be sweet, but she can also be rude. She can be polite, but her pride will often get in the way of being too charming. She is blatantly honest, but does not judge people too harshly. She likes to try and look at the positive aspects of peoples' personalities, but also fails to understand even her closest friends sometimes. She is just average in this regard. I do not factor her appearance into this because pretty people are not always charming people.
  20. Kiht listened intently as the Hyur struggled to tell her about the situation. She suddenly fully understood. He did not describe much, but Kiht had heard and seen many scenarios like that in the Shroud. That was something the Ixal did often. "They... took the others... and sent two scouts to try and find us, though just as one had returned to rejoin his group the other... he began to approach our hiding place.." Andre had said while struggling against his own disorientation. "Craven monsters." She muttered in a bitter tone. Her expression formed back into a scowl. "Still... I'd appreciate if we could find her first....before anything else.." Andre had concluded. Kiht looked back towards the direction Clover ran. She took a few sniffs of the air. The storm was still brewing overhead, and now Kiht was dreading the incoming rain. Her sense of smell was always dulled in the Shroud's downpours, and it seemed like she would need to do quite a bit more tracking. Too much rain would cause mud to potentially cover up tracks. She felt as if time was now limited. "Shite..." She muttered then looked back to regard Andre. "Like I said, let us go after her." She responded in a clear tone. She would not wait for Andre's response that time. She began to swiftly pace in the direction Clover went. She unstrapped one of her harpoon spears from her back, and took it into her hands. She was preparing for the second Ixal scout that she was certain would return when he noticed his companion had not followed him. Her ears perked up and her eyes opened wide as she went into full alertness. Her pace quickened into a swift stride as she traveled in Clover's direction. Kiht would survey her surroundings constantly as she moved.
  21. Ahhh, it makes me really, really sad that arguments get such a bad rap! I love arguing with people (even the friends who lay the verbal/written smack down on me nine times out of ten) -- it's really a fun thing for me. Usually I come out of arguments knowing something I didn't know before, with a heightened understanding of the different ways other people think. . .which I can then build into characters. (even if sometimes I wind up looking like an idiot. worth.) And, too, I really do think passion gets mistaken for emotional response, sometimes, and people react to that. It's normal -- but should never ever ever be taken personally. Don't fear the arguments! Embraaaaaacceeee. (unless it's just legit not fun, I know not everyone is into that -- just like silly things aren't really my thing, most of the time. To each their own. ) I am not talking about a debate or even argument where people can state their opinions, and agree/disagree with others. I started a thread very much like this one a few months ago. I mean it is -very- similar. It -exploded- with replies. That was great for a few days until people started literally insulting each other to the point where Freelance Wizard had to -lock- the thread. That is what I am talking about. When people start throwing blatant insults into their stated opinions, they are turning it into a personal attack. And yes, the insults were clear. They were not just passionate statements mistaken for emotion. That is what I am saying. This thread is not worth getting angry over. IMHO, no thread regarding a fictional topic in a fantasy game is worth getting literally enraged over. People want to argue with each other? Doesn't bother me as long as it is kept civil. So far, this thread has stayed civil, and I was just stating that I was happy about that. Edit: Sorry for the off-topic post.
  22. ROFL! That explains her new avatar pic as well. All everyone will see is her ass as she casually walks away from all y'alls bullshit.
  23. I'm glad people are having fun with this thread instead of turning it into a huge flamey rage-fest. So.... Alright, time for the more important questions. 1.) Do they claw the furniture? 2.) Do they like getting their chins scratched? 3.) Do they raise their ass in the air if you touch the base of their tail? 4.) Do they bury their poo in sand? 5.) Do they run when you spray water at them? 6.) When they leave the Quicksand do they often turn around and come right back in? 7.) Do they sleep on things you're trying to read? 8.) When given an expensive toy you bought, do they instead prefer to play with a dead leaf that just blew inside? 1: No, at the Morbolvine Estate, we are more sophisticated. We use armor and weapons on the furniture instead... 2: If her chin had an itch, Kiht would probably enjoy that. 3: No. 4: The Morbolvine Estate has only one toilet. When R'shenn Tia smashed it with a lance, we had to go somewhere. All we had was the yard...... I'm sure most buried theirs.... 5: Kiht would run -at- you if you sprayed her with water. Does that count? 6: .............Yes. 7: Does face-desking on a stack of documents count? 8: Listen, using a spear to slash at a leaf that is fluttering around in mid-air is great practice for accuracy and speed...
