I just wanted to add to this that if you are looking to have your character be an "intrepid hero", becoming a Dragoon is really not necessary. Not only do you have to be mindful of a lot of lore bumps, but the IC use of the Dragoon abilities can possibly get you flak from people. I have seen it a lot of times. Besides, Lancers are way cool and way underrated. There are plenty of cool Lancer characters already in the lore to show you how to can be a Lancer and still be quite bad-ass. Lancer's Guildmaster Ywain. I want his weapon damnit!

Just wanted to give big kudos to C'kayah and his FC, Tylwyth Narah, for helping the OOC leader of our FC (Morbolvine Clan) with a sort of surprise RP event. Through -no- fault of C'kayah and his FC mates, the RP did not go as planned, and characters ICly argued in circles longer than expected. However, we made it work, and even when the agreed-upon roll system we used to decide the outcome of a fight turned out to be a bit unfair for C'kayah and company, he let the outcome happen based on it. They were all good sports. The situation really had no heroes or villains. Just two groups with conflicted interests, and both sides RPed fairly. While C'kayah and company ICly wore disguises to hide their identities, I OOCly know who done it, and I OOCly thank them for the RP. :lol:

I applaud this LS. The system is very fun, and unlike basic dice rolls, it is not just about luck. There is skill, strategy and unique customizations that get accounted for in this system. On a rare occasion, there are confusing points where I found myself wondering if I could apply a skill to a certain situation that was not directly related to the skill. For example, can the stitching skills of leather-worker be applied to stitching a living person's wound? That is where a DM/GM who knows the system must be used. While I think the system takes some practice, I found it to be not as complicated as it seemed at first. I did a short series of events with some people in this LS, and it was great fun. As a member of the LS, I also often see Verad talk about improvements he is constantly making to the system. Just wanted to add my 2 cents on it.

Is your character ICly a crafter? Are they a freelance Mercenary, or part of a Mercenary group? Maybe your character is ICly a merchant or trader. I have seen many threads advertising character shops and services for RP purposes. However, they are scattered about, and some groups just don't advertise. I offer this thread as a single place to do so. If your character has an IC service they provide, they can advertise on this thread. It might even be a good idea to just list what services your character may do in order to help spark RP. For example, if your character is not usually a mercenary, but might act as one in special cases, go on and list that. Conversely, this thread can be used to request IC services as well. A player can put requests and advertisements in one profile-like post if they wish. There is no wrong way to do this. However, I do have some requests and recommendations for posters. I request: That NSFW stuff be kept in NSFW labeled spoiler tags. Keep the naughty stuff discrete please. That no one try to advertise that their character is better than another who offers the same IC service. That prices, and actual/fake gil use be discussed in private. That the services be kept IC and RP oriented. That we all be excellent to each other. I recommend: A short and simple format. Massive text walls can give information overload. If you have requests and offers, put them in one post, and occasionally update your post. Let people know how they can find out about your character's request and/or service, and list the best ways for players to contact you IC and OOC. All are welcome to add. Have at it.

I want to give a huge Kudos to Verad Bellveil for all the RP he has helped spark lately. He has also been a great DM with his events, and a great sport about many things. Yes, I know I'm being vague dubious. I have reasons... But yes! Lots of kudos for him!

Sorry Sounsyy; you had a strong start, but now you are outnumbered. :evil: How to Capture a Sounsyy: Find the local Quicksand. Survey until you see a Sounsyy. Approach the Sounsyy ICly. Take secret OOC screenshot during RP with the Sounsyy. Upload Sounsyy screenshot to the RPC. Congratulations, you have captured a Sounsyy.

This is a unique idea since I don't think is it quite clear-cut on a good side or bad side. You still may end up with unbalance since people may favor the ones who seem like the "under-dogs". I think that can be fixed with maybe NPCs if it comes to that. I like the idea and will participate if I can. I can give a more concrete answer once everything is more defined, and I can figure out my schedule (Lots of things happening this month). Regardless, I like the idea a lot.

While I don't scoff at people who let a class define their character (since I see nothing wrong with it), I would say that Kiht's IC classes are an aspect of her character rather than the defining traits. She is trained as a Lancer, Archer and bit as a knife-fighter(not an in-game class). If I was to give her a more accurate class label, I would call her a hunter or a scout much like TheLastCandle uses the title ranger for Yvelont. Even then, that only defines part of what she is like in action. The various guilds all seem to emphasize different mindsets that they repeat over and over again through their story quests. For example, Ywain is the Guildmaster of the Lancer's Guild. He is constantly preaching courage. But courage... Can be interpreted in many ways... [video=youtube]

I have found that life is a smattering of beauty and hardship. Some get too much of the beauty, or too much of the hardship, but no one has a life without some of both. I do indeed miss those early suns where I had absolute freedom, but helping those I care for requires that I take on responsibilities, so I shall. I will always Keep the Moon.

However, the Fates would not let me live my life that way for long. When an assassin threat rose from the heart of the frozen North, I found that I could not turn a blind eye. And when the ones being hunted had no one to guide them, I stepped forth with no idea about what the Hells I was doing. Allies were met, and enemies were fought. In the end I think Nymeia was mostly on my side. The threat was ended, but I had lost some of my old innocence. While some of my old friends I still retain to this sun, it was not long before I made new friends once again. This time, they were a people that shared a common cause with me. Somehow, I became a leader amongst them as well. Mayhaps it is my urge to control things, or Nymeia's will, but I seem fated to leadership. It has not always been easy, and I am not the perfect leader, but I take the role as a great honor. I became Vice Matron in a Free Company called the Morbolvine Clan. We do not always get along. Many of us have little in common outside a sense of kinship. Being a leader in the Morbolvine Clan has been one of the most challenging tasks in my life. But I refuse to relent. They are all my family. While I had new responsibilities, there were still many tasks and adventures to be had. Our Free Company needs to be supported, and we all strive to rediscover ourselves. I even fell into romantic love again. This time, this bond is meant to last. Rinh'li started out as someone who I felt an urge to protect, and that made us grow very close.

((A summary of Kiht's RP story so far with some of the best screenshots I have taken since starting RP in FF14arr nearly a year ago. I wanted to share them, but also give them some story context. They are not in chronological order.)) My name is Kiht Jakkya. My mother use to call me a “little Fury”, but some of my friends rarely see that side of me. For most, my personality likely seems closer to that of my most admired Goddess, Menphina. I was born and raised in the Twelveswood. Not many people understand what that means. Some may picture me running through the wilderness in a loincloth while others will think I was raised in the city of Gridania. The truth lies more in between those two things. I was not isolated from civilization or modern crafts, but I lived -in- the forest. Sometimes I slept in a bed at a settlement while other times I slept in a tree. Life was a combination of wilderness survival and civil society. It was a nomadic life. I once overheard someone refer to the Twelveswood as a place for pacifist “tree-huggers”. But anyone who has actually lived there knows otherwise. I was raised to hunt the things that hunt other things. In many parts of the Twelveswood, it is a predator eat predator environment. Every corner of the Shroud requires vigilance. Weapons in my hands and allies at my side; I was taught how to survive in a forest world. Even after the Calamity, the Twelveswood is still so vast. Once I became a scout for my family, I zealously set out into Thanalan to see what else Eorzea had to show me. I did not let the vastly different environment stop me. I saw places, I met people, and I even found that there were other Moon-keepers who had made a life in such a place. However, there was still much to do at home. More life to be had, and more strange people to meet. Some of those strange people would even become friends. I even fell into romantic love. My first experiment with the concept. It was deep and dramatic, but it fell apart as quickly as it had began. It taught me many lessons. I learned that the passion of my heart should be guided by the wisdom of my mind. Lyn and I found that we were just two very different people. I could not accept his life-style, and he could not accept living any other way. Our bond was not meant to last. Next I set out to La Noscea. I found that I hated sea-travel, but the ride on the giant boat was well worth it. The land had more wilderness than I had expected. So many ancient and extraordinary places to scout. The land had a story, and every malm was a different chapter.

I don't know why I am doing this. I think I caught what Osric has... Signing up! Kiht Jakkya Order of the Twin Adder - Free Brigade. Scout who has been to Thanalan many times, so they figure she is a good investigator to call on. Has sympathy for the plight of the Ala Mhigans since seeing them in the Twelveswood. I like the idea of character sheets, and this one looked nice simple until it got to the second and third part. It seems like I may be the only one confused by a few things. Firstly, what are artifact fragments? That is not explained, so it makes the whole energy and Sanity part have no context that I can see. Secondly, in combat when you choose one attribute for your attacks, is that the attribute you use for every attack during the whole plot? Or just that fight? Or just that attack in that one fight? In other words, can you use different attributes for different attacks during a single battle? And when it comes to rolling; the example was if you use Fortitude as your attack attribute, and you have 4 points in Fortitude then you would roll 1d20 four times, but don't do 4d20 because that would add them all up. However, if you do not add up the numbers of the four rolls, how do you use the rolls? If you do add up the numbers of the four rolls, why does it say not to let rolls.org do it automatically with a 4d20? I feel like I'm missing something, and it could be that I should just avoid trying to evaluate character sheet systems this early in the morning
