Question: Is the story of the players inside a rp server serverwide?
Knight Kat replied to Xid's topic in RP Discussion
There is a lot of living-world RP. On several occasions Ive wandered the wilds like Black Shroud and Thanalan, and found RPers interacting with each other in the open. The main taverns in each of the main cities have a lot of random RP. FCs like The Grindstone have events that they host out in the open where almost anyone can walk up, and join with others in RP. There are some RPers that refuse to join FCs, yet they find plenty of RP. How do I know all this? Pssh! I'm Kiht Jakkya! (I eavesdrop and spy a lot...) -
((Great idea Jomoru.)) ((Please note, this no longer applies to my character as her Keeper group disbanded. She has now joined the Morbolvine Clan.)) Name: Shriekshroom Clan. Families: Jakkya and Kaatah. Location: Nomadic; they travel from hunting ground to hunting ground around the Twelveswood (aka Black Shroud). Their primary camp is in Greentear in Central Shroud. Sexual Mores: The two families exchanged males with other Keeper families outside the clan. It is also not uncommon for them to accept wandering males who prove themselves to be trustworthy. The males can only be exchanged with other clans if they are willing to leave the clan. The males are not forced. Males may take mates of multiple females because of the male-to-female birth ratio making it so there are many more females than males. However, mating is something that is not forced. Both males and females help raise the children with the fathers taking on the role of primary care-givers when the children are old enough to begin clan skill training. Traditions: The eldest Matron from each family takes turns leading the clan for a five-year period as the Clan Matriarch. This helps prevent long-term conflict between the two families. The Clan Matriarch typically leads as a guide, not as a dictator. Tight family bonds, and time-honored methods usually keep the members of the clan from straying from traditions. Every member of the clan takes on a specific role when they come of age. Females are typically scouts, huntresses, negotiators, gatherers and trappers. Males are typically cooks, artisans, lore keepers, shamans and guardians (those who protect the children and Matriarch). Both sexes can be crafters. The clan's primary crafts are leather-working, and botany. Other traditions that use to exist no longer apply as the Clan is now very small. In order to recover, they have began reinventing themselves as they adapt to the reborn realm. Roles Defined: Negotiators speak on the clan's behalf, and they are highly educated. Lore Keepers have the very important role of educating children, and managing clan rituals. Shamans are magic users who heal clan members, and interpret the wishes of the Gods. Guardians are warriors who are trained in the clan's best martial skills, so that they may protect the children and Matriarch. ((Other roles mentioned should be self-explanatory.)) The clan is traditionally hunter/gather in trade. They would hunt and gather raw materials to trade with other clans. This has only changed recently as demands for products from the Twelveswood have changed. Also, Gridanian environmental regulations have been a strict burden on the clan. Seedkin and beastkin that the clan use to hunt are now depleted or legally protected. The clan was not war-like; therefore, the recent attacks by Ixal have been devastating. Current Status: The clan was never large to begin with; thirty strong on average. However, the calamity and the developments after it, have reduced the clan to twelve members. The lost members are either dead, or missing. The clan is now forced to survive by hunting any game they can; be it large or small. They do a lot less botany now that it no longer sustains their needs. The clan has a renewed focus now. They look for new hunting grounds (outside the Twelveswood if they must), and have began better developing their martial skills.

Shiroe, *ahem* I mean LeCard, thank you for looking that up and bringing the info here. You're awesome. I guess I could have looked that up myself, but, lazy.

I love the last one with the couple. So cute!

I am not much of an artist, but I think those sketches are pretty good! Love the faces. Everything seems so smooth and in proportion.

Problem is that got used for the Seeker/Keeper break. How so? When you start the game and make a Miqote it asks you to choose your character's clan which would be Keeper and Seeker. Oh, that's right. That's an unfortunate use of the word. Yeah that sucks. They should have used the word "kin", or something like that, in character creator. I think clan is not the best word for that. I am still going to use the word clan for my Keeper's two-family group (I'm not the only one). If I am forced to get technical because of the word used in character creator then I will use the word sub-clan.

[Journal] Requiem <Lost River's> (OOC Welcome)
Knight Kat replied to Lost River's topic in Town Square (IC)
Very poetic and well-written. Seems to convey tragedy, desperation and sadness? But I don't know what's going on. Time to re-read with my critical thinking hat. -
Depends what you mean by tribe I read that as there's nothing above local clans/villages/bands while the Seekers have group equivalents to say the Cherokee or Apache I believe you both have a point. They seem to imply that Keepers are more clan-like. And a Keeper clan is made of 2 to 3 families. I guess it could be possible to classify a few families as a tribe? I don't know. I am not familiar with the true definition of tribe. For Keepers, it would be clan/tribe then family within the clan/tribe as their means of identification. For example: Kiht Jakkya is part of the Jakkya family within the Shriekshroom Clan. The clan is a small two-family clan. Also, Keeper names are said to be very old. "It is said that some of these surnames have survived since the First Astral Era." -HRPC Wiki. If this is the case then there are likely many Keepers who share the same surname, but aren't part of the same immediate family or clan. The surname would simply indicate a shared, possibly ancient, ancestry.

Well I've read and known about this thread since I first joined the forums. As I've been leveling my character and working on a little project, I've been open to RP but haven't directly pursued it. Today I tried. I came up with a neat IC reason to be sitting outside a gate of Ul'dah and was ready to try and RP with any passers by who were RPers. Two passed by. One even stopped to examine me. Their search info said they were RPers. I locked up It's been a while, but now I guess I am like a rusty cog. Too rusty to turn. I got too nervous to even do an emote. I just needed to do /em sigh to try and spark something. But I didn't hit the "enter" key. Why do I have an RP block? I am not that shy IRL, nor am I shy on the forums. Something about thinking and acting under pressure. I can't seem to do it like I use to. So Gray, I saw you online the other day. You were in Mor Dhona I think. I should have sent you a tell then. Next time I find you on, I will try to contact you. I want to try this lasting RP connections thing; especially, if it helps me get over my RP block and helps me make friends.

Ha ha, we're popular, that's for sure. However I noticed for every character with a serious name, there is another one that some person must have made just as a joke. Meowie Wowie is a Miqo'te I saw the other day. Probably/hopefully not a Role Player. Quality over quantity I say. Try to ignore the silly ones as if they are ghosts. Pay attention for serious names. Examine their search info to see if they marked themselves as Role Players. That should help you sort through the kitties. BTW: I do some... catish things... with my character sometimes, but I never go so far as to act like she is possessed by a house cat. I think playing Miqo'te with a few cat-like tendencies is fun, but making them jokes is not cool IMHO.

Looks like you have a lot of possible contacts already Rizta, but if you need/want more, you can send me a tell if you ever see me on, and we can add each other. I am a Keeper as well, so it would probably be easy for us to find an IC reason to RP. I will also do occasional player searchers for you when I am online.

The Screenshot Thread [Tag Your Spoilers]

ROFLMAO. Love it! -
Thank you. You all have really cleared this up for me. Even gave me some ideas

So friggin cute! You're so good at this.

I can think of two songs that fit my character. First one would be symbolic towards her journeys through the wild lands. GwES9M0isVM Second would be symbolic of her free spirited resistance to the various opposing forces in her life.

Thanks Naih'ir!... Your GIF is driving me crazy! LOL. Why is he slapping the shark on the nose? Who would do that?! UGH! Just need to ignore it...

I was wondering... Lore says Keepers worship Menphina while Seekers worship Azeyma. Got it. Like it. But do traditional Miqo'te ONLY worship their one god? Or are those the gods they simply see as most important? Does my Keeper call to Menphina before a battle or can I call to Halone? It would make more sense to call to the latter, but if Menphina is my traditional Keeper's only god (Goddess) then the former will have to do. Thanks in advance to anyone who clarifies this for me. Edited to correct typo.

Thank you all for the generous welcome! Lots to look into and think about already. I am going to be busy now

This would be perfect since I'm just starting off with my new character and such. Kiht Jakkya - Miqo'te Keeper of the Moon Suggested IC reason to be sending her messages: She is currently on a journey from Black Shroud through the deserts of Thanalan. She is very new to the place and very traditional, but also quite curious about everything. Anyone who wants to be her pen pal could (pretend) to be a person she met along her journey thus far. I would roll with it. She started in Central Shroud and is currently in Central Thanalan. On the other hand, if you can think of a better IC reason or need a different one than the one I suggested, then I'm absolutely open to it. I am currently working on a journal project that will be a record of her trip. Anyone she meets along the way will be mentioned (as long as I get their permission).

Hi there. Nice to meet everyone. I have been a lurker for nearly two months now . I only recently made a character on Balmung though. A level 15 lancer right now and loving it. I have read up extensively on the lore (still learning more though), and I must say that I have been enthralled with the IC story threads that happen mostly in the Town Square. I find a lot of the RP discussion threads are good to read too. I also have been looking through character wikis. I like writing, so I will most likely make my own soon. My past experience with RP is blotchy. I've RPed in Champions online, but have played many MMOs since then (such as SWTOR) and I didn't RP in those. So, I'm rusty. However I look forward to working off that rust with my new character.
