1. Very cool. I freakin love the one where he is with his kittens!
2. “Kweh!” “So that is what the whistle does!” Kiht exclaimed as she examined the instrument, and the chocobo that had just approached her soon after she blew it. The chocobo stood before Kiht; it was young one, but certainly not a chick. It had a saddle on it which meant that it had been trained and domesticated. However, there were no banners, markings or flags on the bird to indicate who it belonged to. Obviously, to whoever lost the whistle. Kiht looked back to the chocobo with the whistle still held in her fingers. “I am not your master...” “Wark!” “Just because I found this whistle does not mean I have to suddenly become your master as if it were ordained by the fates.” “Beep!” “It is not like this is some kind of fantasy tale that might be told to children every dawn. I do not need another mouth to worry about feeding.” “Woheehaw!” “Gods you make a lot of annoying sounds! Quit bothering me.” Kiht then threw the whistle past the chocobo in an attempt to make it chase the object. The chocobo's head followed the whistle as it flew by, but the bird's body did not move from the spot. When the whistle crashed into a bush, the chocobo turned its head back to Kiht. “Kweh!” “Ha! You are out of new sounds to make! Now be gone; I hate birds!” Kiht waved her hand dismissively. “Kweeeehhhh...” “Changing the way you make the sound does not make it a different sound! But it was a good effort, you idiotic creature.” “Wohee!” “Hmmmm, very wel- wait a... You just made half a sound that you had already made before, did you not? “..............” “Well, go and spit it out then! You are not fooling me.” “Haw!” “I thought as such.” Kiht put her hands on her hips and knit her brows at the big bird. “Now what have you?” The chocobo bent its knees, and lowered itself closer to the ground. It then motioned its head towards the saddle on its back. “How do you even exist? You are a kind of loud, flightless, bright yellow birds with the cleverness of Ground Squirrels. You should have been extinct long ago.” Kiht lectured with crossed arms, and a disapproving scowl. The chocobo simply motioned its head towards the saddle again. “The ONLY reason I would take to your saddle is if I was desperately in need of a mount. I currently am not.” Suddenly, a pack of six Shroud Wolves crashed through the nearby brush. They began barking, growling and snarling with the fur on their emaciated forms standing on end. Their toothed maws were foaming and drooling. Kiht and the chocobo had obviously made too much noise; thus, attracting unwanted attention. She stood motionless for a brief moment; locked in a cross-armed posture, but her expression changed to one of shock. “Kweh kweh?” The chocobo motioned towards its saddle once more. The gods have a vicious sense of humor, and Kiht seemed to be a frequent target of it. She then darted to the chocobo. Kiht held onto the saddle for dear life at first. The chocobo was running and navigating the terrain with ease as it bound through brush, across clearings and around rocks and trees. The wolves were left in the dust. Despite fluctuating elevations, the chocobo hardly slowed. With the wind blowing through Kiht's hair, her feelings of fear were washed away as she quickly got caught up in the thrill of the ride. “Whoo! You run like the wind, bird!” From that moment on, Kiht's faithful chocobo would be known as Windrunner.
3. KEEPERS UNITE! Actually, I am in the process of potentially making an IC Keeper friend. But other than that, I have none. I want a bunch of em if I can manage it Send me a tell if you find me in game. Or perhaps you wouldn't mind if I hunted you down, stalked you and added you as a contact? BTW based on your avatar picture, your character is very cool looking.
4. That's great, thank you. Glad I didn't screw up after all. The name Rinette seemed fine to me until you just now mentioned that LOL. The good thing about being a Keeper female is that you don't need to throw in any apostrophes or prefixes. I guess if you were going to go with Rinette you couldn't have chosen a better Miqo'te gender and race. Addition: Since you've updated the post, I would like to add that the names Rin, Rihn, Rinn and Rinh are all female Keeper names. Also, Keeper females have names that are one, or two syllables. Rinette is two syllables! Your name actually fits with naming conventions just fine.
5. Its funny. My character's clan is just for back-story mostly. However, in the making of my fictitious clan, my original two families in the clan were the Jakkya and the Molkoh. I thought that Molkoh was too commonly used in the game by NPCs, so I changed it to Kaatah. BUT Kaatah is NOT a name from the game. I remembered the Kaatya name (which is in the lore), but I remembered it spelled wrong I didn't verify that it was accurate, so i stayed with it. I ended going from a surname for my clan's second family that was too common to a surname that would not ever be used by anyone unless they saw it from me. I sometimes feel like I violated the lore However, it is now too established in my RP to change. Had I left well-enough alone, I could have linked family back-story with you easily. Ah well. If I were you, I'd definitely hit up the Naih guy for some clanage. However, if you ever find me in-game, don't hesitate to hit me up for some RP. My character is a nomadic huntress of the Shroud as well.
6. Miqo'te may have a strong sense of smell that can pick up on scents that the other races of Eorzea might not even notice, but their noses usually aren't as keen as a hound's. If Kiht could track a scent like a hound then she would have found Yabi'to by now. She knew a male Miqo'te was near, but couldn't have easily found his exact location if he hadn't revealed himself. Kiht had expected the male to either continue hiding, or rise from a resting spot in the tall brush. She did not; however, expect him to seemingly appear out of nowhere. Despite the fact that she knew he was nearby, she was still taken by surprise when he spoke. When she heard him, she took a startled step back with her ears mimicking his by flattening back against her head. His posture seemed threatening at first glance. His ears were back which was a sign of his fight or flight reflex in full preparedness. His fists were clenched and his tail was twitching. However, what he said betrayed his true feelings, "O-over here. I'm not a threat”. His tone of voice revealed that he was possibly fearful, but certainly not enraged. And no wonder... He was one of the smallest males Kiht had ever seen; perhaps he was still an adolescent? Regardless, Kiht would not hold that against him as she was quite small herself; barely five fulms tall. However, he seemed like he was alone, and he didn't look like a warrior or hunter type. What was he doing out here? She relaxed quickly after mentally processing his words. Her ears perked up, and her expression lightened from one of surprise to one of genuine curiosity. Instead of immediately responding to him, she briefly examined him. She started by looking into his eyes that were nearly shrouded by white-tipped grey locks, hanging down his forehead as long bangs. Red Keeper eyes... They were his only intimidating feature. Other than that, Kiht perceived him to be about as menacing as her kid brother. Kiht opened her mouth, about to speak, but suddenly, the last thought of little Yabi'to combined with the familiar Keeper male against the backdrop of the small house sparked a surge of nostalgia. Memories from when Kiht was a kit surged through her mind like a flash of lightning. She remembered a boy who was very quiet and shy. At first, she found him scary because of his red eyes. However, she would later be taught by her mother, Yabi Jakkya, to never judge any being by its outward appearance. Kiht eventually became one of the most outgoing children who had interacted with many of the other children from the various Keeper tribes and communities. So many kids, and so many memories of a forest paradise before the calamity. Nevertheless, she could not remember the forename of the shy boy with the red eyes. But one word came to mind.... Ghria. She silently mouthed the word. Was it a name, or a random word from the old, no longer commonly spoken, Keeper language? What did it have to do with this male in front of her? She wondered. Kiht shook away her thoughts, and brought herself back to the present. The male had revealed himself and stated that he wasn't a threat. In the near silence of the forest with nothing but a gentle rustling of the trees in the breeze, and the distant chirping of birds, it was Kiht's turn to respond. Her easily distracted mind having delayed her response a few awkward seconds while she was lost in memory and examination of the male. “Uh greetings, be at ease. I am no threat to you either.” Kiht assured as she held her hands open in front of her. She then gently placed her right hand on her chest over the position of her heart. She let her left hand hang at her side. It was a sort of customary gesture of greeting. “I am Kiht of the Jakkya family. I apologize if I disrupted your... Slumber?” She said, with hesitation at the last word. She raised an eyebrow noticing his robes were filthy because he had probably been recently laying in the dirt and/or vegetation. “Who are you? Do you perhaps, live here?” She continued, then started glancing around at the decaying houses.
7. I doubt that there could have been a better choice. Congratz Freelance
8. I assume Walker Roh is your character's name as well? Welcome to the site
9. “If I find him, I will shoot an arrow to his foot!” Raih'a Kaatah declared with a stern scowl as he held his bow in his hands almost as if he were preparing to fire it. “That would stop that boy from wandering for a while!” Raih'a concluded. The whole clan was worried and irritated. Yabi'to Jakkya, the youngest member of the Shriekshroom Clan, was missing. He had fiercely declared that he was ready to come of age, and would wander the Black Shroud to find glory, and make a name for himself. The problem was; however, that he was only twelve years old. Kiht Jakkya gave a fierce disapproving scowl to Raih'a Kaatah after his remark. She knew he wasn't serious, but she didn't find the situation to be humorous in the least. Yabi'to was Kiht's only surviving brother. He was one of the only two siblings Kiht had left. Zana Jakkya, Kiht's older sister, noticed the fire in the expression of her feisty younger sister. Always being the more composed, graceful and wisest of the Jakkya siblings, Zana gently placed her left hand on Kiht's shoulder. “We WILL find him sister, be at ease” Zana assured in a gentle, comforting tone. However, Kiht's emotional fires weren't so easily extinguished this day. She turned to her sister in an aggressive jerking motion causing Zana's hand to slide off of her shoulder. “He is likely going to become Diremite food! I will not be at ease!” Kiht retorted, her voice and tone being louder and harsher than she had intended. The clan members had begun to gather around in a circle; talking amongst themselves with everyone trying to speak at the same time. Their voices were overlapping each other, and nothing was getting properly planned or even understood. The voices quickly hushed as a robed figure stepped into the center of the encircling clan members. All attention was quickly drawn to the figure of an old woman. She was Raih Kaatah, eldest member of the clan, and the leading Matriarch. The Matriarch composed herself as the clan hushed around her. They all looked to her; prepared to hear what she had planned. Raih looked to Kiht with a sympathetic expression. “Little Yabi'to most likely set off hours ago while we were all asleep” Raih explained while looking to Kiht and Zana; her tone sounding apologetic. The Matriarch then redirected her gaze to the rest of the clan; looking around at the 8 other individuals. “What we should do is quite obvious. We will spread out in every direction, search every corner of the Shroud and refuse to stop until we find the Jakkya boy.” The Matriarch briefly paused then looked back to Kiht and Zana. “We will each set off alone. This will be very dangerous; however, we must do this if we are to cover as much ground as possible. I want you all to swallow your pride, and ask for assistance from anyone that seems willing. We will all meet back at this spot in one cycle. If we have not found the boy by then, we will set off again in another part of the Shroud”. After another brief pause, the Matriarch looked around at all the other clan members again. “No time to waste!” She ordered. At the Matriarch's final words, the clan members scattered; arming themselves with their weapons and gearing up. Kiht grabbed her trusty feathered bone harpoon and strapped it to her back. “Nymeia, please help me find him!” Kiht whispered to the goddess of fate. She then set off into the Black Shroud with quick even strides. Kiht wandered for quite awhile; putting all of her tracking skills to the test. She listened to the reactions of the birds, watched the patterns in the soil, smelled the air and examined the brush. The Shroud was Kiht's home, but there was no denying the elaborate nature of the place. There were countless changes in terrain to navigate. Rivers, rocks, hills, trees, and thanks to the Gridanians, settlements. The forest was complicated, and there were many places Yabi'to could be. On the other hand, the main paths that were traveled by caravans and Gridanians were the places where Yabi'to was least likely to be. If he had been on those paths, he would have been discovered by Wood Wailers by now. The Matriarch was likely going to attempt to contact the Gridanian authorities to see if they had found Yabi'to. This meant that Kiht's best choice was to search away from the main roads. It was a daunting effort though. Navigating through brush was slow and physically demanding. However, Kiht soon found what she thought was a clue. Kiht was brought to a pause near a seemingly random part of the Shroud. It was not the environment that immediately stopped her, but a scent. She lifted her head and started repeatedly sniffing the air. It was the feint scent of a male Miqo'te! It wasn't that male Miqo'te were particularly smelly, but Kiht could distinguish the pheromones of a male using her race's innately powerful sense of smell. The Summer breeze was quite helpful as it was perfect for carrying the various smells of the environment. Kiht began thoroughly examining her surroundings. She took notice of some brush nearby that was oddly out of proportion in age and size to the brush surrounding it. The younger brush seemed to form a path. This wasn't really an unusual sight in the Twelveswood, but some of the branches and stems of the bushes and plants were broken in a few places. Kiht bent down near the vegetation. She sniffed the broken parts. They were fresh! Someone or something had recently stepped through the brush! Combining that with the feint scent of a male Miqo'te, and her hopes soared. She burst into what she had intended to be a run, but the brush was so thick that she ended up crashing awkwardly through it like a mad boar. She followed the nearly gone path at a hectic pace. Suddenly, the scent had become stronger! She was getting closer. The brush along the trail was showing more and more damage. The person or creature that went through before had started moving faster with more forcefulness. Was Yabi'to in danger? She wondered. “Yabi'to! Sound off my brother!” Kiht yelled ahead; hoping that he was close by. She continued to crash recklessly through the brush as fast as she could. However, she would be stopped finally by a root that was stronger than her foot. She tripped and tumbled with a surprised “eeek” into a not-so-clear, clearing. Kiht quickly jumped to her feet and brushed herself off with her hands. She'd be blushing if she had thought someone had seen such a disgraceful display of agility and balance. She began to survey the area. An ancient-looking elm with some undergrowth, and six small wooden houses were the most prominent structures in the area. Kiht was suddenly hit with an eerie feeling of familiarity, but maybe her mind was simply playing tricks on her as a result of her fatigue. The place was obviously abandoned, but Kiht couldn't immediately figure out why. She didn't have time to think about it, for the scent she had been tracking was right there! She could not tell exactly where he was, but she could definitely tell that the male Miqo'te was very close by. She began to slowly assess the environment. However, now that the scent was stronger, she could tell it wasn't the scent of Yabi'to. She knew her brother too well, and this was not his scent. But if it wasn't her brother she had found then who was it? “Hello?” Kiht called out to the area.
10. Welcome! Lalafell would be a difficult choice because of the almost instant "dawwwww" effect they have on most people. If you can pull off a serious Lalafell then I think you'll have a lot of fun with it. I personally repress my "dawwwwww" reaction when IC, so you'll never get instant tacklehugs from Kiht Jakkya. Its just not her style. Your female Highlander sounds awesome, and may have some personality similarities to my Kiht. I can see how you might think Una Darkstar as a name is a bit over the top? If you want to stick with it, I don't see a real problem. It sounds kinda highlander, and you could always play it off as a sort of nickname. Unfortunately, I believe the phial of fantasia does NOT allow a name change. You'll be able to change anything but the name... I am not absolutely certain of that, but you should look it up soon if you want to consider progressing your character. I hope to see you in-game!
11. Love this idea! Agreed! There don't seem to be enough events like this.

Hi

Is she a Roegadyn? YAYS. So rare they are. Welcome!
13. IMHO I think threads like this aren't necessary. If someone is curious as to why a certain race is played then fine; ask in the form of a question sparked by curiosity. To me, this thread seems like it is asking people to justify themselves. They don't have to. They shouldn't be made to feel like they have to. However, I will contribute because I feel like this can't be said enough: race does not make the character; the player makes the character. Race gives a skin, and the possibility for a foundation of lore and back-story. IF the Midland Hyur are to be considered "blank slates" then that is good because some people want "blank slate" characters to start with. But boring? No. I have RPed with two Midland Hyur characters so far, and they are fantastic. *waves @ Roen Deneith and Tobias Nightbringer* I am still in the learning process with RP, so I learned a lot from them.
14. I haven't noticed much of anything negative in the community. A few people may seem a bit upset about things I would personally consider minor, but that is their right, and I have no problems with them as long as they stay civil which most of them have. No place is perfect, but when negativity is rare, you could say that this is a pretty great community.
15. Google: "Oh jeez, its another one of THOSE people... Better send this person to THAT site..." Good ol Google. Welcome to the community!
16. Hello and welcome! Wow your characters are rather young, aren't they? Sorry about leaving you hanging a couple of days. The community is actually quite welcoming, but lots of new people as of late, and its the holidays, so everyone is busy.
17. I'd love to add you as a contact. I'll even look for you with player search when I get on. *Writes your Keeper's name down*
18. Hey, ansemaru. While I already have an established clan in my character's back-story, they do live in the Twelveswood, and could have known of, or even traded with, your families. I wouldn't mind being included in some elements of your back-story. NOICE Naih'ir! You even made elements of a language? That's what I had originally intended to do with my clan too. I'm so jelly about your detailedness. Anyways, ansemaru, good luck finding Naih'ir and his clan. They are too good at playing Keepers, so I personally can NEVER find them. Like they hide all the time or something. Coming out from the shadows to lecture other Miqo'te PCs about traditions...
19. Dammit, I am soooo late to this party! Why would you start this thread while I am at work???? Conspiracy! Why would I play a Miqo'te? Jeez so many reasons. Prepare for a my usual walls of text...:frustrated: 1: The Miqo'te lore is interesting to me. I especially love the Keeper lore. I felt that a young female Keeper would be perfect to be the character I wanted to make. She comes from a matriarchal culture of hunters and huntresses that struggles to maintain traditions and survive in a quickly changing and hostile world. She is strong, willful, independent, down-to-Earth, sophisticated and intelligent (I didn't neglect to give her plenty of flaws too). NOT a typical animeish cat-girl. 2: Like many others have already said, I wanted a character who was not entirely human. I wanted a more feral, yet still humanoid and intelligent character. However, the races of this game are very well made, so it was not an easy choice. 3: Honestly, I like cats. Do I roll my Rs? NO. Do I "nya" in my sentences? NO. Do I take inspiration from anime cat-girls? NEVER. Does my character have SOME cat-like tendencies? ...yes Only because I have fun with the concept of having some feral tendencies, and emotes with the ears and tail. However, I try to keep the cat-like emotes under control and make sure I don't get too silly with them. Also, if I am in a tense RP scenario I will appropriately evaluate my emotes before using them, so I don't ruin the mood with some emote others might find funny. Plus, the Miqo'te already have some cat-like animations without us players doing any emotes. Female Miqo'te waking up, and getting out of bed? CUTE! Also, look at it this way. If the only race we could be was Hyur, would every PC loose their uniqueness? Not IMHO. We could have only Miqo'te as a race, and everyone could still be unique. The different races add an aesthetic variety and a foundation for lore, but do not make each PC who they are.
20. Ouch... I'm sorry this didn't work out. Honest to gods I totally derped and thought it was going to happen on Sunday the 22nd. You listed the 21st all over the place now that I look at it... I feel like such a derp. However, I was visiting family tonight, so I couldn't have made it anyways even if I had known.
21. Central Thanalan (1st visit) Upon arriving in Central Thanalan, there was an eerie fog set about the land. I could hardly see but ten fulms in front of me. I began to follow the road; hoping it would lead me to Ul'dah. If I had known then what I know now, I would have turned back to Camp Drybone and waited for the fog to pass. I was warned about the heat, the scavenger hounds, the Amalj'aa and the bandits. No one mentioned absurdly huge vilekin! Mayhaps they did not like the sound of my voice, for when I called out to a strange clacking sound that I could hear through the thick fog, the big bugs greeted me with their massive, spiked mandibles. I ran without shame as fast as an Elezen to his ego. I was not prepared to deal with insects the size of Banemites. I believe the people of Thanalan should make a sign or something because travelers should be warned about the deceptively-named Antlings. After fleeing the first group, I found myself against a large boulder near a lake. I only had a few moments of rest when another Antling revealed itself from behind the boulder. I would not run from that one! Fleeing and fighting in thick fog was my nightmare for the next few bells after my first encounter with them. The Antlings seemed nearly blind, so I was able to evade them most of the time, but their carapace was very solid. I had to be clever in order to kill the few that I killed. Soon after the fog had cleared, I had made it through Antling territory. I arrived at a place called Black Brush Station. I was exhausted, so I took rest at that station. But I did what I could to avoid the Brass Blade guards whom would have likely made me pay another “modest” fee. The next night, I set off to Ul'dah. I would soon witness another spectacle that I had never seen before.
22. However, her thread title sounds like she wants ANY female Miqo'te. Not just the ones who supposedly wronged you. If you enslave or hurt any innocent sisters of the Moon, or even sisters of the Sun... I will hunt you. I will find you. And I will RP you. (Armor up your Nunh parts.)
23. You want to kick that Nunh is his Nunh parts too, don't ya?
24.  Just messing with ya.
25. Olo already gave some great advice. I would like to add that maybe Google is a good way to look up your concerns. If I am concerned about something, I have, in the past, looked it up on Google to see if anyone on any forums out there might have the same feelings or concerns. Usually I am pleasantly surprised to find that many share or have shared my feelings and concerns about whatever it is I am concerned about. In other words, your so called embarrassing feelings, ideas or concerns may not be as weird as you think. However, I would always be careful about putting your ideas on a forum if you wouldn't be able to handle possible trolling or criticism. Just remember not to let the opinions of a few people make you feel bad about yourself. Find the average consensus of all people who give input on the matter. Don't focus on just the few who may think you're weird.
