Swiftperch turned out to be a very good setting for talking with the dark and mysterious Enju. Alas, the persistent Sun rises upon the Moon-Keeper and the Duskwight. It was at this point where I realized that Kiht's zealous protectiveness of her friends bordered on stalkerism.......Oh well, lets talk to Roen! That is supposed to be a hug  WTB hug emote. -

Alright, letter sent. Let me know if you didn't get it. Please do not show the letter to anyone currently outside the plot. Please do not discuss the letter on this thread. Any OOC questions, comments and/or concerns should be sent to me via PM. Any IC questions, comments and/or concerns should be discussed over the LS in-game, or should be said to Kiht directly. -

UPDATE! I am in the process of crafting an IC document to the Exiles. The roster has grown quite large now, and over half the people on it never seem to be online or readily available for spontaneous meetings  Planning them a week ahead of time makes things progress too slowly. So, to get everyone ICly caught up, I will send another IC letter. I will meet ICly with individuals at various times to further discuss details of things as required. Characters I need to meet with: Darwyn and Rheah: You two still have that assassin dude we captured a week ago, don't you? Yeeeaaaah....I hope you've been feeding him. And, what do you do if he has to use the facilities? I need to meet with you two to interrogate him, or something.... Enju: Who always has fun things to discuss...... Eva and Saehri: I need to get you two in on this. (Eva I'm talking to via PM right now.) Sirielle: Assuming she isn't dead, she has an uber amount of stuff to get updated on. Pyralis: "I'm alive" is not much to go off of. PM me with your plans unless you want to suddenly just show up one day and say. "Yo, I'm back foos!" Yvelont: ROFL, I'm JK. Like I ever get a chance to ICly meet with Captain America Gridania anymore. ALSO, everyone please send me your availability for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I want to see which one of those days would be best to have our next major event -

Knight Kat replied to Kimikimi's topic in RP Discussion
I just want to clarify that my post wasn't aimed at anyone in particular. I simply used words and insinuations, that I personally saw in the posts, as examples. If the insinuations were not intentional, I am sorry I misinterpreted. Obviously, the topic made me a bit sensitive, and I didn't like the 'heat' I saw building in front of the OP who is obviously a newbie on the RPC. Both sides of the "argument" seemed to be loosing a bit of tact, so I felt compelled to post again. I guess managing an RP plot, and the LS involved has turned me into a Mother Hen  -
Role Playing feelings and Real Life feelings.
Knight Kat replied to Kimikimi's topic in RP Discussion
If I may be so bold as to recommend that everyone step back and take a breather. There are some insinuations in some of the posts that are a bit insulting, and that accomplishes nothing. Like everything in life, RP is dependent on the individual. Their enjoyment of it hinges on how they personally go about it. Some people want to play a certain type of character while others want to play a different type of character. How they should play their character depends on the person, and what they enjoy. No one is unhealthy, abnormal or crazy for how they decide to enjoy a freaking harmless hobby. If you get emotionally involved in your characters, fine. It you don't, fine. It only becomes an issue if people start OOCly attacking the other person. However, just automatically assuming that will happen is jumping to a conclusion. For example, Kiht Jakkya is NOT me. She is my character. Do I feel empathy with her? YES. Is she exactly like me? NO. She has some aspects of my personality, but she is at least 50% different. Am I living vicariously through her? NO. Have I ever OOCly treated someone badly for negatively effecting my character in an IC way? NO WAY. Am I in love with the player who plays the character that Kiht is in love with? Certainly NOT. Just because someone can feel emotions that their characters are supposed to be feeling, doesn't mean they will think the same things that their characters are thinking. It's about discipline, and self-control. I can easily do that, but maybe not everyone can. That makes them different, not crazy. They simply need to go about RP from another angle. They need to draw their own lines, and set their own boundaries. They need to understand the difference between IC and OOC. As long as everyone remains OOCly respectful and kind to everyone else, there is no reason why they shouldn't feel or play the way they want to. -
Role Playing feelings and Real Life feelings.
Knight Kat replied to Kimikimi's topic in RP Discussion
I've talked to a friend about this once. He felt attached to his characters in the same way. IMHO it is very normal. Think of characters from a TV show, movie, anime and/or book that you've gotten attached to. Maybe shed tears when something tragic happened to them? Felt happy when something good happened to them? RP is no different. Actually, I think RP can effect us more deeply because we, as players, are part of the interaction. Our characters are our creations. They are our works of art. It is normal to feel attached, and having your emotion in sync with your character's usually helps intensify the RP. On the other hand, it is no fun being depressed. If you are feeling heavily depressed about your character, here's my advice. Retcon. If it is a serious enough problem, retcon the character. You'd be surprised what you could change without effecting anyone else. Play an alt. RP on an alt will allow you to weave another story, and take your mind off the other character for a time. Take a break from RP. Maybe take a day to do something else. Watch a movie, read a book, talk OOCly with some friends, wildlife photography, skydiving, ect. Just take some time to clear your head. If you don't want to pull yourself away from the game, do some dungeons, work on crafting, do OOC stuff. -
((Melkire, this is an excellent post. You did not mess with the plot's established theme in any way, and managed to masterfully attach your story to our plot without screwing up any "plot-lore". This has even given us something to reference in future RP. Sorry to post OOCly, but I just wanted to make my stance clear on this. Obviously, Xydane agrees. Have at it ))

Something was amiss. Why were the cloaked figures just standing there? Kiht wondered. They were out in the open; approaching as a group. That didn't seem like an assassin method. Perhaps it was trick? An ambush? Kiht suddenly thought right before reaching the the figures who were just standing there. “Hold! Everyone hold!” Kiht shouted as she staggered to a stop. She shouted as loudly as she could, but her words fell on deaf ears. Her group members were already in the charge, and they were intent to follow through. There was nothing Kiht could do. One of the cloaked people stepped forward, threw off his cowl and held out his hands. Other cloaked figures started......Cowering? Some knelt and started praying, some staggered back and some started waving their hands frantically in front of them. The group members may have been in a charge, but they hadn't lost all sense. It was mostly the one in the front that gave them pause. The one who stepped forward and threw off his cowl was a Miqo'te! His skin had a slight blue hue and his hair was black; his eyes were blue Moon-keeper eyes and he had a teardrop tattoo on his forehead! “I know that you all missed me, but this is overreacting, is it not?” The male Moon-keeper said with a nervous smile on his face. The group had come to a halt. Some members lowered their weapons while others kept their weapons at the ready, but they all looked awestruck. Their eyes were wide, and their mouths agape as if they were staring at a ghost. “Um, don't you recognize me?” The male Moon-keeper asked. He then regarded Kiht. “Little Kiht! You.....Haven’t grown at all” He said to Kiht with a teasing grin on his face. Kiht's expression suddenly grew even more awestruck. “H-Hahs'to?” Kiht stuttered. Everyone thought he was dead, but Hahs'to Jakkya stood before his group. The cloaked figures all stood up once they realized that they weren't going to be attacked. They pulled back their cowls. The eight other individuals were a combination of all the races of Eorzea. There was even a Lalafell who Kiht hadn't noticed before. Upon closer inspection, they were not armed with very deadly weapons. Many had canes, crooks, wands and scepters. None of them carried bows, blades or lances. They relaxed, but still looked worried as they regarded the armed Keepers. However, the eight unknown individuals were not the concern of the group at that moment. They all suddenly recognized Hahs'to. What started as a charge into battle suddenly turned into a charge of celebration as every one of the group members dropped their weapons, and ran to gather around the male. It was a chaotic eruption of embraces and voices. Kiht ran directly to Hahs'to; she grew an expression of joy that she hadn't displayed in a long time. “How??” Kiht asked him. “Long story, I will tell you later. I am glad to see you, little Kiht.” Hahs'to responded. “Tell me now, male!” Kiht said in an irritated tone, but she still bore a jubilant grin. “Fine! Gods, you are still the crazy cousin I remember, aren't you?” He retorted, but still smirked at her. It was then that Kiht put her finger to her ear. She had some explaining to do. “My apologies, but it was a misunderstanding. My group and I are not under attack. Everything is well.” Kiht said over the linkshell. Hahs'to regarded her with a curious expression as she talked over the linkpearl. “What trouble are you involved in now, little Kiht?” Hahs'to asked her in a teasing tone. “I have a long story to tell you as well, Hahs'to.” Kiht answered then paused for a moment. “However, you must first understand, I am not 'little Kiht' anymore. Life has changed me, Moon-brother.” Kiht said as she returned his smirk.

In the midst of mid-day, Kiht Jakkya, contrary to her Keeper culture, sat in the Shriekshroom Moon-Keeper's camp grounds in Greentear while fully awake. Most of the group were sleeping in their dark tents; soon to rise at dusk for a night's hunt. She sat on a stump while she pondered. “They know about you.” Xydane had said during her first meeting with him. Words that haunted Kiht's thoughts; words that echoed in her mind ever since. The success she has had at uniting the "Exiles" depended on the assassins not knowing about her. Yet, that is what Xydane said. Was he sure, or was he just assuming? Kiht wondered. Her name wasn't on the list. IF they knew about her, why did they not strike at her while she was alone. Even with her family, she could be vulnerable. Her group were hunters, and forest nomads. They weren't primitive by Gridanian standards, but they were not ideal for fighting assassins. If the Faces of Mercy knew Kiht was the leader of the "Exiles", there should be no reason why they wouldn't seek out the Shriekshroom Moon-keepers with a small army of mercenaries at their backs, and obliterate the Keeper group along with Kiht. The thought scared her. She -had- to tell the group. It was the right thing to do. In the end, she did not regret her decision. The group Matriarch understood. “A woman must make her own decisions; choose her own path, and lead the life she chooses to success.” The Matriarch had said. They were encouraging words. However, most of the group were worried for Kiht. Many of the Kaatah family wanted Kiht to stop helping the "Exiles" because she was putting the group in danger. Kiht had considered not being around them until the assassin threat was dealt with. However, it did not matter in the end. Not only would it be hard for a family-oriented Keeper to stay away from her group, but the assassins still might attack the group just because there was a possibility that Kiht would be amongst them. If they were going to be in danger, Kiht would stay around them as much as possible. Most females Kiht's age would be starting to plan their future, but Kiht was already taking on a task that most would expect a veteran Twin Adder officer to take on. Kiht was amazed that the "Exiles" would even follow her. A gentle breeze rustled the brush and tree branches as birds chirped from unknown perches hidden high in the canopies. The Sun was beginning to set as the bottom of it touched the horizon. The sky grew orange, and a nearby Fungar realized that he was probably in a bad location, so he took shape and tried to quietly scamper off before the group lived up to their namesake. All seemed normal in the Black Shroud..... “To arms!” A female voice shattered the silence of the forest. One of the Kaatah sisters who was out on patrol came charging into the campgrounds. She gripped her bow in one hand with an arrow in the other. She was gasping for breath as she tried to shout as loudly as she could. She was in an absolute panic. “To arms kin!” She shouted again. Kiht stood up quickly. Groans started emanating from the tents as many of the group were now being awakened by the shouting. “What is amiss, Kaatah sister?” Kiht asked calmly but in a loud voice. The Kaatah sister looked to Kiht with wide eyes full of fear. “Cloaked figures approaching the camp grounds!” “Everyone to the ready!” Kiht shouted at the awakening Keepers; her voice loud but it betrayed that she was a lot more calm than the panicked Kaatah sister. Most of them were disoriented, but they made for their weapons. Some grabbed spears while most grabbed short-bows. They scrambled around and mumbled questioningly. “Are they armed?” Kiht asked. “Yes! By the Twelve, they are not far behind me! We must prepare, or flee, or something!” The Kaatah sister shouted in a very worried tone. She quickly ran to a tree trunk and tried to knock an arrow to her bowstring. However, her hands quivered too much, and she could not quite get it ready. Raih'a Kaatah stepped up close to where Kiht stood. His eyes were tired, and he grumbled a complaint. He had a leather-worker's hammer in one hand, and a bow in the other. It was an odd combination that was probably a result of his disorientation. “Now, how do you know that--” Raih'a paused mid-sentence as his mouth went agape, and his eyes went wide. He stared off in the distance at something. Kiht followed his gaze to what looked like a dozen figures in dark cloaks, approaching from the distance. They were too far away for the Keepers to make out their features, but close enough to where they would arrive at the camp grounds in less than a couple minutes. Kiht began to panic. She began looking around at her group members as they prepared for battle. Her expression betrayed her deep concern. She wasn't as worried about herself; she just didn't want any of her kin getting hurt. If the twelve figures approaching were indeed Faces of Mercy, they could wipe out her whole clan in minutes. “Only twelve?! They underestimate us!” A loud female voice erupted from the clamoring group. It was the Matriarch. Her tone was fierce and surprisingly loud for an old woman's voice. “We will not be defeated in our own home!” Kiht looked to the Matriarch with a desperate expression. She shook her head furiously. “No! Please! This is my fight! It is me they want! Let them have me, and none of you will be harmed!” Kiht shouted, to the group Matriarch. Kiht had her Yarzonshell Harpoon, but she wore her forest leathers. She was not ideally dressed for battle with assassins. However, she did not expect to win, anyways. She didn't want her kin getting slaughtered. “Nay! They will not take one of the last of the Jakkyas. You are ours, young one.” The Matriarch responded in a determined tone. The rest of the group let out shouts and battle cries to the Twelve as they charged at the cloaked figures. Kiht thought about calling to the "Exiles", but a fight would be over in but a few minutes. Even if the Exiles rallied a force, and used aetheryte travel to get to Bentbranch Meadows, it would take twenty minutes of non-stop sprinting, or ten minutes on a sprinting Chocobo to get to the camp grounds. Despite the futility of it all, Kiht put her finger to her ear, and shouted over the linkshell. “If anyone can hear me! My group and I are under attack in Greentear! At least twelve hostiles!” Kiht shouted the short message. She gripped her harpoon firmly in her hands and charged along with her group members. She made a silent prayer to Halone. Her kin could not be stopped now, so she would fight along with them, and likely die along with them.

Yes, good meeting. Very frustrating for poor Kiht though  Regarding the Pandora Tek. I do wish to integrate that into the plot, but not at this very moment. For now, we will just say it isn't yet distributed to the Faces who are currently not in Ishgard. It would add too much complication, and essentially make it impossible for us to fight our foes until a counter-measure is figured out. So if we are nearing the end of chapter one, the Pandora Tek will become a real problem starting in chapter two. Now, I am going to soon send an IC letter to everyone that will give you details about the Pandora Tek. IF this is something anyone wants integrated -right- now, I will reconsider. I do not want to be a dictator, just an organizer. Once you all find out what it is, I think you'd all probably agree that Pandora Tek would force us to sit on our hands, and cancel all of our current plans against the assassins. -

It seems we will have enough interest to form a meeting today, during the afternoon. The meeting will be started between 2pm and 4pm PST with whoever is on and available. Okay, that's not afternoon for -everyone-, but that is when I believe most will be ready. Also, we have good news. Xydane isn't going on a hiatus after all We no longer need to rush the first chapter of our plot. However, I don't want to dilly dally either. The next couple meetings should allow for Kiht to have major discussions with almost everyone. Then, we have two major events coming after that. -

Meet him at the amphitheater. That was the plan. However, Kiht Jakkya waited and waited. Pyralis never showed. She was already irritated that the damn diurnal Hyur choose the afternoon for the meeting. She would normally be sleeping by that time. But, it was odd for him to not show up when he said he would be somewhere. Kiht knew Pyralis had issues with bravery, but she didn't think he was impolite. Something was amiss. Kiht activated her linkpearl. "Pyralis, can you hear me? This is Kiht." She asked over the linkshell in an aggravated tone. It was the sixth time she had tried to contact him over the linkshell over the last bell. "If you can hear me, please respond in some way." Kiht said again while trying to suppress her tone that would otherwise betray her anger. No response came. No response would ever come from Pyralis that day. Kiht waited until dusk; staring at the empty stage of Mih Khetto's amphitheater. She began to get worried. However, there was no reason to assume the worst yet. Maybe he had gotten drunk, and had fallen asleep. Maybe he was occupied with some intoxicated woman somewhere. If that was the case, Kiht would tie him to a post, and practice her archery on him. However, that was not the case. Many days later, Kiht had tried countless times to contact Pyralis. He never answered. No one knew where he was, or where he had gone. He had disappeared without a trace. Kiht was sad and frustrated. She had just helped Pyralis find his courage after many conversations with him. She had finally earned his trust. He was a new friend; someone who Kiht was happy to have in that dire time. She began to consider the possibility that he had been killed or captured. The idea made her feel as if her soul had been emptied. Pyralis was so frightened about being hunted by assassins. He was so worried that his life was already over. Kiht had just managed to convince him that there was hope, but now, he is gone. Disappeared just like Vaudclairt. Kiht's deep sadness turned to anger then it turned to rage. The assassins targeted the person who was probably the most afraid. As if they were taunting the Exiles. They would pay! Kiht would make these Gods damned assassins wish they had never traveled so far South. -

Absolutely, there is still time. I will PM you. I am getting good at finding ways to integrate people into the plot. AND UPDATE BELOW Our last event was great. We quickly got the hang of the combat system which is not that complicated. However, as everyone there could see, it tends to make a few characters seem incompetent if there is a small number of enemies. With only three assassins, we could not even allow the first few successful rolls to kill them off, and it did not allow much flexibility for characters who rolled a fail. There are also a few holes in the system I noticed. For future encounters, I have made these adjustments: Encounters where Exiles outnumber enemies. Spoiler used to reduce clutter. Please open. Encounters where the enemies match us in number or outnumber us can't allow the bypass of a fail roll penalty. However, there are no reaction phases. From start to finish, the roll rules and allowances apply. I know this may seem complicated, but I will gladly go over it again in the next event. I don't mind repeating myself. And, once we get it going, it is actually not that complicated. Also, nothing is set in stone. I welcome input on the system, and I am willing to make changes. NEXT MEETING Xydane has limited time to finish his first chapter in the plot. We'll just call it a chapter one that needs to be finished before he leaves on a few weeks of hiatus. This means I can't give everyone huge notice in advance. It's been uber busy this week as well. I am hoping to hold the next meeting either tomorrow and/or Saturday. For Saturday, please send me your availability, or I will just assume it is the same as last Saturday. For tomorrow, I am going to check between 2pm and 4pm PST to see who is on. If there are enough people on and available, I will try to get a meeting going. If not, I will check again between 8pm and 10pm PST, and do the same. There is a lot Kiht needs to go over with everyone. -

Great read Xydane! I love all the threads and RP this plot is generating. And, oh boy, all the twists and turns. I have had so many characters throw IC "curve-balls" at me lately that I am totally expecting the next person Kiht talks with to tell her that they are secretly an Amalj'aa using a magical glamor to disguise themselves as a/an (insert race here), and they are gathering intel on how the city-states operate so that they can help advance Amalj'aa interests. This person will also say that they want this to be a secret, and ask Kiht not to tell anyone..... You are all going to kill Kiht, you know that? You will kill her with stress.:lol: -

Edit: Report him, and wait to see if doing so stops his behavior. If it doesn't, you'll really have no choice but to blacklist him. I am sorry that your foray into the RP community was met with this discomfort. Most of us are great people with great characters. I, personally, never ICly use curses that I haven't heard spoken by NPCs. Most people seem to play that way.

I had a buddy ooc come with me to "Ishgard" and we got all jacked up but we made it worse on them, (ordinary bandits, not assassins). Erik is in Ishgard now following a lead that sort of could be used in this rp if you like, but also applies to another I am in. It involves the pandora's boxes being made. Erik ic told a few people, if only to make sure they are careful. Its fine if you don't because like I said its for another rp, im just cross-pollinating a bit for fun. I'll be on tomorrow around 7 or 8 Eastern Kiht. Also would anyone be interested in me posting my little priestly journey in that thread I keep warm? Sure, any IC plot-related threads, link away. I'll have to ask about the Pandora Boxes because I am not sure what you mean. I've never heard of them IC or OOC. Also, to everyone else. I sent the IC letter. If anyone did not get it, let me know. Rheah, can you please relay the letter to Darwyn? I am not sure if he logs into the RPC anymore. -

Upon further consideration, I have decided that a lot has happened that some Exiles really need to be updated on. Things might start moving quickly in this plot, so certain information would just be better if given to the Exiles in the form of an update letter. I will PM everyone in the LS an IC letter from Kiht that you can all pretend to ICly receive via Moogle Mail. Also, please note: The plot is starting to thicken and and take shape. As much as I want to give everyone liberty to come up with their own story-related content based on the plot, you will all need to please keep "plot-lore" in mind. Certain things have happened that might clash with what you come up with. For example, if your character has a run-in with the assassins, and learns some information, it may clash with something that someone else learns. My point is, if you want to ICly find and present new plot-related information from this point on, please either OOCly run it by me first, or be prepared to have it ICly declared as misinformation if it clashes with something that is already established. I know that I am stating what might seem obvious, and it probably doesn't need to be said, but I just want to make sure all the "real" facts fit together in this plot. I want to organize, not dictate. -

For all that missed it. I am planning to update everyone via meetings and Linkshell. However, it seems Blue is not on Vincent very often? I don't want to post too much IC info on this thread because it is too much exposure, but I will send you an IC PM if it comes to that. But, I am hoping to hold another meeting soon. This time it will be in Black Shroud. Vincent can be updated then, maybe? As for Erik, he is on all the time. Kiht needs to ICly talk to him in-person very soon, if possible. There is so much to discuss with him, and she can update him at that time. Anyone else who could not attend will hopefully be updated soon in-game, but I will PM an IC letter if it seems necessary. For now, don't worry. Nothing happened that needs to immediately be known. You will all learn what happened in the next couple of days. -

Great screenshots! Rheah got some nice ones. Here are mine. The meeting begins. Xydane arrives. Assassins attack! We used glowey markers to show where the NPC assassins stood. The aftermath. Of all the people who could remind Kiht about the right thing to do..... Who would have thought Crisiet?
