1. Quit being such a city-girl, and go see the Lavender Beds! It is a spectacular housing area.
2. Alrighty! Meeting with Xydane will start today (Sunday) between 2:00 - 2:30pm PST. Kiht will make a call out over the LS asking for all available to accompany her. She will designate the meeting spot but it will be in Limsa Lominsa or La Noscea. Note to Xydane: If there is a meeting spot you have in mind, tell me over PM or /tell in-game. Otherwise, I will pick one because I -do- have a few in mind. Kiht will give a quick briefing as I check to see all who are available. Even if you are online, coming to the meeting is not obligatory. I don't know everything that will happen. I, personally, plan to make it a meeting with Xydane where Kiht and all the other Exiles try to figure him out, and decide if he can be trusted. Beyond that, anything may happen. Be prepared How you can participate: Some characters have complicated reasons for being in the LS. If you want to attend, but need special IC reasons, want to attend in an alternate way or want to be indirectly involved, send me /tells tomorrow while we are getting things ready. I will try to accommodate your character. I believe that about covers it. I don't know how long this meeting will take, so please put aside some time for this. Thank you all.
3. I thought he was doing that after the Ball in Ul'dah? Regardless, that is indeed a good thing for him to do. Kiht may not ICly agree with it, but it can yield important info about the Holy See's motives, and why now of all times, they send assassins after exiles and expatriates. The lore has shown that Ishgard nobles are allowed to leave Ishgard and Coerthas for short periods of time on special occasions. So, why are the exiles a big deal? There is more than a fear of having information leaked behind their motives. Something political.
4. UPDATE FOR EVENT Not everyone has given me availability for Saturday and Sunday, so I have to base my decision on those who have. Unfortunately, schedule conflicts have made it impossible to find a time and day where everyone is available. I have to choose based on majority. Saturday is too conflicting. roughly 50% of the LS would not be able to attend. Differing time zones also make this difficult. It's enough to drive me cray cray. With Xydane's player taking an involuntary hiatus in two weeks, any event surrounding Xydane MUST be done in the next two weeks. We can't delay this one any further. As a result, I must apologize to Erik, and anyone else who will not be available on Sunday. That is when the event needs to happen. I PROMISE that more events like this will take place soon, and I PROMISE that I will primarily conform to the schedule of those who do not get to attend this one. The LS event, meeting with Xydane, will happen Sunday, April 6th. However, a time has not been set yet. I am thinking 2:00pm PST. If that time is not good for anyone who is available on Sunday, please let me know via thread post or PM. We have until tomorrow before I set the time in stone.
5. ((Edited and updated. All who are interested, please re-read Lyn's post before my last one. ForbieJD, you may conclude the thread with your post, if you like ))
6. A screenshot of the first meeting from my angle One thing I love about group RPs is epic quotes! "We must fight, or we will not win. We must hope that Ishgard tires of this before we do." -Kiht Jakkya. (Kiht and her little pearls of wisdom. Sometimes I wonder how many times she makes peoples' eyes roll ) "Halone guide us in our fury, and shield our loved ones from our madness." -Erik Mynhier. (A prayer so appropriate for the Exiles.) "You can't spend your life pretending to be dead." -Rheah'na Serras. (I just love the irony in this quote.) "We'll keep you safe, to the best of our ability." -Darwyn Ulondarr. (Ever an inspiring character. And he likes his fashion statements. Dat hat, LOL.) "I have no such luxury as freedom in my decisions." -Vincent Laucent. (A character with a lot responsibility that seems to weight heavy on him.) "If these men of Ishgard have sent assassins, they certainly have more waiting at home." -V'ariha Kyui. (She didn't say much in the meeting, but she seems a rather shy and contemplative character who is now tasked with a challenging duty. The question is, will she be able to handle it?)
7. Kiht Jakkya was mentally and physically drained when Pyralis arrived. When he suddenly grabbed her, and moved her aside, she was shocked to see him, but did not outwardly show it. “P-Pyralis?” Kiht asked in a meek tone. She watched him as he went to work on Lyn, and gave him the Elixir. Kiht didn't immediately seem hopeful. A regular potion would not save Lyn. She thought that he might even already be dead. She just couldn't process what was going on quickly enough. It was all happening so fast, and she felt as if she had failed. She should have never let Lyn do this, she thought to herself. She could have stopped him. Could have ordered her clan to restrain him. Could have not gone along with his plan at all. She knew he wasn't invincible, but it seemed nothing short of something like this would teach him otherwise. However, that was a lesson she'd rather not have him pay for with his life. On the other hand, Kiht didn't believe in taking away his freedom. Even if she could, it would not be what someone does to a person they love. So, she accepted his plan. She expected him to be more cautious. She should have known better. So many conflicting thoughts were in her head. However, she was quickly snapped out of her trance-like state when Lyn let out a cough, reached for her and called her nick-name. Vekker, it meant 'beautiful one' in some exotic Hyur language. Lyn was not a Moon-keeper with a traditional upbringing, but that was another story. For now, Kiht could do nothing more but move closer so that he could touch her face, and she also gently touched his. “Lyn, I ...” Kiht said but was cut short by a loud noise on the roof above. She looked up to regard the mysterious Hyur who had shouted at them to run. Then he started doing something that Kiht didn't understand at first. He started attacking the incoming Brass Blades. Kiht's mouth went agape in shock as he shot arrows at the law enforcement. She started to get furious. What in the Seven Hells was he doing!? She thought. Then Lyn's hands went weak, he still looked unable to move on his own. Kiht's attention was diverted back to Lyn for a moment. He needed further aid, but the Brass Blades would offer interrogation, and likely, imprisonment if they captured him. It was too obvious that Lyn was involved in what ever happened there. Still, Kiht could not justify the killing of Brass Blades who were only doing their jobs. “Cease, you damned Hyur! The Brass Blades were not attacking us, and are not our enemies!” Kiht shouted to Malgoth, but to no avail. The Hyur with the bow just started shouting at them more; urging them to run away. Kiht regarded Pyralis then regarded Lyn. All that ultimately mattered to her was getting Lyn to safety and treatment. The plan could be damned for all she cared, but Malgoth had already angered the Brass Blades. They would likely come in swinging their swords, and then ask questions later. Kiht was now forced to escape with Lyn, Pyralis and the body of the Sun-sister. She pulled out her aetheryte shard that she thought would be spent by now. Maybe one more time. She only needed it to work one more time! She looked to Pyralis. “Are you going to come with us?” She asked him in an urgent tone. If he answered yes, she would grab him by the arm or hand then grab Lyn's arm; holding them both at the same time. The Sun-sister was already laying on Lyn's legs so she was making contact too. If Pyralis answered no, Kiht would give him a nod, and say “I -will- repay you for this, Pyralis.” In a sincere tone. The vigor had returned to Kiht. Lyn had hope of surviving now. All Kiht had to do now was make the shard work. She thought of Gridania, or Bentbranch Medows. However, nothing happened. She prayed to Menphina again, but that didn't seem like it was going to work a second time. “Gods damn it! One more time you worthless shard!” Kiht shouted in frustration. Suddenly, it hit her. Someplace closer! Perhaps she could get it to work if the distance wasn't so far. She just needed to get out of the city. Somewhere in Thanalan would work. Kiht thought of Camp Drybone. Not an ideal place, but better than where they were. And, at that, the shard glowed slightly with a blue light. The vortex opened, and sucked them in right as Malgoth was charging at the Brass Blades. At Camp Drybone, Kiht would tell the guards that they were a group of adventurers who had a horrible run-in with Amalj'aa. She would pay the guards to not ask any further questions, and pay for the aetheryte travel from Drbone to Bentbranch Meadows. It took almost all the gil Kiht had on her person. However, after the arrival in Bnetbranch, Kiht would call to her clan over a personal linkpearl she had just for keeping in contact with them. They arrived to aid Kiht and Lyn. However, there was nothing that could be done for the Sun-seeker girl. If Pyralis had come to either Drybone or Bentbranch with them, she would once again thank him. Not realizing that Pyralis had done what he did to repay a dept to Kiht, she would tell him that she was now in his dept. She had no idea how important that Elixir was to him, but she felt she owed him, nonetheless. Kiht would take Lyn to the rented hut in Greentear, and begin helping him recover.
8. UPDATE! There are too many schedule conflicts for the big event to happen on Friday. So, we are going to now try for Saturday or Sunday. EVERYONE, I apologize to those that have already sent me your availability for Friday because I must ask you to send me your availability once more for Saturday and Sunday. I am hoping we will find a good time for either one of those days. TODAY: I know this is short notice, but I have been kinda busy the last few days. There was originally going to be a meeting today. However, a recent plot development has sort of changed the situation, and I need to resolve it before another meeting can be held. It might be doable on Friday, but again, that's sort of undetermined so far. I am sorry for the confusion, and vagueness thus far. But, I am new to organizing RP events, and I am having to learn as I go. I promise things will be better planned in the future, and I appreciate everyone's' interest
9. Kiht is a hunter, and I've always wanted someone to ICly hunt with. If anyone were to mention hunting to her, she would get uber excited. Kiht use to explore a lot as well when she was more lonely. However, with her responsibilities lately, she doesn't have much time for random exploration. Kiht's newest hobby is fishing. I'd ICly fish with people as well when I am feeling up for some relaxing RP.
10. Kiht Jakkya was at a hut in Greentear. She had returned from La Noscea where she had met some of the people who had joined with her to form a coalition of Ishgard exiles, and their allies. She decided to name the coalition The Exiled Order. Perhaps a rather formal name for a group of rag-tag individuals, but Kiht felt that it fit. She was tired from her trip, and hated riding on sea vessels. If only Aetheryte travel weren't so expensive, she thought to herself. Ultimately, she was just happy to be home. She removed her formal armor that she always wore when presenting herself to the Exiles. It wasn't long until she was back in her old leather huntress gear. She took a step outside, and breathed a breath of fresh air. The forest was almost silent. A low breeze gently rustled the leaves of the trees as rushing water from a near-by river could be heard as it flowed along. It was then that Kiht suddenly got a sinking feeling in her stomach. A feeling she hadn't felt in a long time. What in the Seven Hells was this feeling? She thought to herself. That is when Lyn's voice rang through the linkshell like a sudden interruption in time. Everything felt as if it had nearly come to a stop around her as she listened to his words. "K-kiht... my vekker.. I_I don't think I'm going to make it back.*long pause* I want you t-t-to know that I l-love you and... *bated breaths* I don't have much time... s-so I love you. Keep the c-c-clan safe okay? Ever since I met y-you... Menphina guide you moon sister, I'll always... be with you..." “Lyn!” Kiht shouted over the linkshell. “Lyn, what is going on?!” Kiht waited a few seconds for his response that never came. “Lyn! Gods no! Not you! Just...Just wait a moment!” Kiht shouted in desperation as her voice cracked. Kiht started looking around in panic. Lyn was in Ul'dah, she was in the Black Shroud. How would she come to his aid in time? Suddenly, the thought struck her. Her only hope. A gift from Rinette Molkoh. Kiht burst into the hut and started digging through a foot locker full of assorted items. She pulled out a dull-blue crystal shard. It was an aetheryte shard that was given to her by Rinette. To the best of Kiht's knowledge, these portable aetheryte crystals were very rare, very expensive and had limited usage. Kiht had already used the thing once to take her home when she was lost in La Noscea. She didn't think it could be used again. It certainly didn't glow anymore. Kiht grabbed her leather bag of field supplies full of herbs and other things that could be used for medical purposes. She then strapped on her harpoon, but there was no time for anything else. She then had one last hope; getting the old aetheryte shard to work. She focused her aether into the shard and let her thoughts drift to the desert city. Nothing happened. The shard didn't vibrate, it didn't glow, it did nothing. Kiht began squeezing the shard firmly with both hands as tears welled in her eyes. “Gods damn it! Take me to Ul'dah!” Kiht shouted at the seemingly worthless shard. Kiht let a out a desperate squeak of sadness and frustration as tears poored down her cheeks. “Menphina help meeeeee!” Kiht asked, desperately. Suddenly, as if on cue, the shard glowed to life like a blue flame, and began to vibrate. A vortex of energy surrounded Kiht then she got reduced to aether and sucked in. The quiet and stillness of the Aetheryte chamber in Ul'dah was quickly broken when Kiht exploded out of an aether vortex into the chamber. Without hesitation she bolted out into the streets of Ul'dah leaving the Brass Blade guard in the chamber to see nothing but a blur. She began glancing around desperately for any signs of where Lyn might be. “Lyn, where are you?! Please respond!” Kiht called out over the linkshell. It was no use, there wasn't going to be a response. It almost seemed as if there was no hope of finding him in the city, but then, she noticed two Immortal Flames having a conversation on the side of the street. Kiht ran up to them with widened eyes as her heart was pounding from the adrenaline. “You! Flames! Has there been any incidents recently? Anything out of the ordinary happening? Please, my friend is in danger! You must tell me!” Kiht asked in a pleading tone. “Erm, that's Flames' business, miss. I would ask that you stand by for the reports from the criers. Rest assured, we have everything under control.” One of the Flames, who was a Hyur man, said to Kiht in a dismissive tone. Kiht had always had a temper, but now she was faced with a desperate situation. She clenched her fists, and gritted her teeth. Her ears pinned back as the fur on her tail bristled. She stared at the Hyur with widened eyes, and a feral stare of fury. “Captain Erik Mynhier! I assume you know him? He would authorize you to give me a report!” Kiht stated in an insistent tone. The Flames both raised eyebrows at her, but did not immediately respond. Time was running out. It had already passed the five-minute mark since Lyn's call. “I'll just take a moment to verify that...” The Hyur Flame said as he put his finger to his ear to talk on a linkshell. Rhalgr curse everything! Kiht thought to herself as she began looking around. She did not have time for this, but she did not know where to look. Fortunately, news traveled fast in Ul'dah. Kiht's ears suddenly picked up two merchants talking about an explosion in the slums. That was it! It had to be. It was Kiht's only lead. However, how would she get there? She knew hardly anything about the lay-out of the city. She had no idea where the slums were. Kiht bolted over to the merchants. “Pardon! Where are the slums!?” Kiht asked, desperately. The merchant gave her a perplexed expression as he regarded her. This was beyond frustrating. The love of her life was dying somewhere, and she did not know how to find him. No body understood that! But how could they? Kiht paced a few yalms away from the merchants as they slowly and casually tried to ponder directions for her. Kiht couldn't help it. She once again felt like a helpless girl. Tears began welling in her eyes once more as she clenched her fists. She suddenly let out a scream of frustration into the air for everyone on the streets to hear. “Thal's balls, miss! Calm down, will ya? Other side of the city just North of the Markets. Ya can't miss it.” The Merchant responded in a concerned tone. Without hesitation, or even taking the time to thank the Merchant, Kiht began to run to the nearest aetheryte. She slapped her hand on it, and began trying to think of the slum district. Kiht was swiftly transported to an aetheryte near the marketplace. Close enough. Kiht was once again fortunate to notice a squad of Brass Blades running in unison to some unknown location. They moved with a sense of urgency. Kiht began following them. When they all got to a location in the slum district that was full of shacks and small houses, the leading officer of the Blades ordered them all to spread out and search. However, Kiht would now follow her nose. She picked up the unmistakeable scent of burned flesh. She began letting her keen nose guide her to the location. She was very tired, but she did not slow her pace. It was already past the ten-minute mark. Moments later, Kiht arrived at the gruesome scene. A destroyed shack, dead bodies everywhere, burned pieces of wood scattered about. What in the Seven Hells had happened here? Then, she saw him. Lyn was motionless against a wall with the body of a female Miqo'te laying on his legs. She hurried over to them and fell to her knees. She couldn't stop her tears or stop the shaking in her hands, but she opened her bag that she brought with her, and began pulling things out. It was then that she noticed that she was knelt in a pool of blood. It seemed the combination of the girl's blood, and Lyn's blood. She examined the blade sticking out of his torso as an extremely concerned and desperate expression grew on her face. She had hardly any training or experience in treating such an injury. She knew a few healers, but none of them were anywhere nearby. Actually, she knew Ul'dah was full of healers, but she knew not where to find them. She grabbed some herbs that she cracked and crunched in her hands. These herbs would help to stop the bleeding around the wound by causing the blood to coagulate. However, she didn't know how to deal with any internal bleeding if he was suffering that. She knew she couldn't pull the blade out, or he would bleed even more. She was very shaky, but she carefully put herbs around the wound, and used long pieces of cloth wrappings to wrap a bandage around the wound and his torso. She couldn't remove his armor without removing the blade, so that made things even more difficult. There was not much more Kiht could do. She had no healing magic, and had no other knowledge on how to treat him further. Kiht regarded the female Miqo'te, and checked to see if she had a pulse. It didn't seem so. It was at that point that she looked back to regard Lyn's face. “Lyn...” Kiht began to speak, but she was interrupted by her own sobbing. “I love you as well! Please do not leave me...” Kiht managed to say in a quiet and helpless tone as her voice cracked several times. Suddenly, she heard shouts from people near-by. The Brass Blades had found the scene, and were closing in on it. Lyn needed some major help. Healing magic, powerful potions or a phoenix down would be the only things to ultimately save him. However, Kiht had none of those at that moment. She had to hope that she had stopped the bleeding. She had to hope that the local authorities had some kind of treatment on hand. Kiht wrapped her arms around Lyn's neck, and began crying profusely as she laid her head on his other shoulder. There wasn't much more she could do. She wasn't sure if anyone else on the linkshell had heard Lyn and/or her voice.
11. Well, what happened yesterday was that the meeting ended up happening A LOT later than planned. When I got on between 12pm and 1pm PST, the only people on were Darwyn and Rheah, and they were doing their back-to-back dungeon madness that they do I stayed on until 5pm PST then took a break. Its wasn't until about 9pm PST where there were enough people on to make a meeting. I figure that I'd call the meeting while I had a chance. Obviously, we will need to establish more solid time-frames for our meetings so people know when they are going to happen. However, we never need an excuse for anyone in the LS to RP with anyone else in the LS. And, that channel is always open for people to talk IC anytime.
12. Thanks for posting the awesome pictures, Erik. I think our first LS meeting went well In that meeting, we discussed the major plan against the assassins. Kiht told everyone about a secret operation that Lyn Konge has undertaken. Now, everyone can know by reading this post of his. This is part one. Part two is in the works. Warning: The post below is R-rated. Detailed descriptions of violence, and adult themes. Do not let kids read it! http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=6818 I will soon have an update for the event on Friday. Keep watch.
13. OK, first meeting is coming up. I am going to start things casually. I will get online between 12pm and 1pm PST. Everyone who wants to be involved, just get online and watch the LS channel. Kiht will ICly call everyone through the LS channel. She will designate a meeting spot somewhere, and all our characters will get to meet faces-to-faces at this one spot to discuss future plans. Dress you character how you like. There will be no combat happening at this first meeting. We are all going to get updates, reports and ideas on how to survive, and deal with, the assassins.
14. She says nothing about referencing the past. She says "there exists", not "there existed". She is speaking to the Eorzean alliance before a major military operation. Why would she be referencing the world? Actually, if she was referencing the world, her reference would have to include the Garlean Empire. Considering they are about to take on another people of the world in all-out war, I see it highly unlikely that she is referencing anyone but Eorzeans. Her speech would be rather insulting, actually, if Eorzea didn't have the variety she is referencing, for she says that without the variety there would be "sterile orthodoxy". If Eorzea has broken down the language barrier then why would Minfilia say that those barriers she referenced "can never truly be broken down?" Then she mentions transcending them as the alliance is doing "NOW" in coming together for the operation. At the end she says "In defense of our shared home." Which can't mean Hydaelyn because the world is also the home of the Garlean Empire. She has to mean Eorzea. As for it being just a speech, and the only reference thus far, there are many things referenced in speeches, and only once. For example, the age of Gridania is referenced in a speech. How would they have to be referenced, and how many times before they are valid? You choose to interpret it as just a speech that doesn't mean much? I choose to interpret it literally, and in reference to Eorzea. There is no reason why I shouldn't and no reason why my interpretation is any less valid. Maybe we should just agree to disagree?
15. So, I recently finished the main story, and found something relevant to this thread. Not only does Minfilia reference the existence of various languages in Eorzea, but she calls it one of the "barriers" that divides the peoples. Its right there, in the main story. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned or acknowledged. This doesn't mean we know what those languages are, or how they are spoken, but they -are- there.
16. Friday's event will probably be later than 12pm PST because Xydane mentioned "Friday nights". I know he is in an earlier time zone. I think he is CST or EST? So it will be afternoon or night for most, I think. As for how the combat system will involve healing/protective magic: Rheah sees the assassins about to unleash a volley of arrows. She rolls a high number in the flawless success margin. She casts a barrier field that blocks all arrows. OR Rheah sees the assassins about to unleash a volley of arrows. She rolls a mid-range number in the rough success margin. She casts a barrier field that blocks most arrows, but some break through. OR Rheah sees the assassins about to unleash a volley of arrows. She rolls a low number in the failure margin. She casts a barrier field that does not establish quickly enough to block most arrows. Only some are blocked (maybe the ones that would have otherwise hit some people in vital areas). With healing magic, it can work something like this: Darwyn is in combat with an assassin. Darwyn rolls a low number in the failure margin. Darwyn and his assassin opponent severely injure each other, and Darwyn goes down. Rheah sees Darwyn go down, and rushes to his aid. Then she rolls. If she rolls high, she casts (insert healing magic spell here) to heal him quickly, and he is brought back into the fight for the next phase. If she rolls Mid-range, he is healed some, but she is either interrupted by an assassin, or she runs low on aether/mana. Darwyn is still a bit wounded, but he rises to fight in the next phase with grim determination. If she rolls low in the failure margin, she barely manages to heal him enough to save him from death, but she is interrupted or temporarily runs out of aether to cast any further at that moment. Darwyn must be aided further, and can't rise to fight in the next phase unless someone else aids him at that moment. NOTE: I may have used the word 'death' in that previous example, but NOBODY'S character will die in this plot unless they want that to happen. I am almost certain none of us want that to happen. So, the worst-case scenario if we fail a lot in an encounter is we all flee and survive by the skin on our teeth, or something miraculous happens to save us from certain death. No worries. If Kiht knows that someone in the group is not good at combat, or needs protection, she will assign one of the other exiles to protect that person or persons. Or, that player can bow-out completely, and emote a defense or reason why the assassins can't or don't attack them. That player character can then just observe and emote reactions to the happenings. If we are victorious, or forced to flee, that non-combat character will just follow suit. Yes! We do! However, I am not sure if we can manage to focus around each other enough to actually RP anymore  If it comes to it, I will just shoot you an invite, and we can pretend Kiht talked to Yvelont and gave him a linkpearl. I have been looking for you. I guess this is why I haven't found you. When you come back to the game, please let me know when and what day you will be available. I still have an idea for your character, and that won't expire anytime soon. Fear not, there will be many more events and stuff in the future.
17. Because Xydane won't be very available for the event until Friday, I have decided to hold mini-meetings during the week for LS members. They will be IC strategy and planning meetings. There are some things that Kiht needs to update everyone on. I was considering Tuesday and Thursday for the meetings. As stated in the previous post, I would like people to tell me their availability for Friday, but also include your availability for Tues and Thurs as well now. With a couple meetings, and one event on Friday, there should be plenty of opportunities for everyone to get in on the plot now. Remember, the meetings and event are not obligatory. You can show up for one, all or none.
18. ROFL! It would be hilarious if this were IC. It would be like Cris becomes a polar opposite of his usual self when he gets drunk!
19. UPDATE! The next major event for the LS is about to happen. This time, I want as many people as possible to join. It is not obligatory, but is a good next step to tying all our characters into the plot. It involves meeting with the antagonist once more, but this time, Kiht herself is going to meet with Xydane. I will not reveal anything further OOC > So, I was hoping Friday would be a good day to do this. What needs to be figured out is time. I am available from 12pm PST and onward on that day. I want to know if everyone who wants in on this event is available at this time or later? Please, either post your availability on this thread, or send it to me via PM. If that day does not work out for most, we can find another day. EVENT/COMBAT SYSTEM After putting much thought into the system I have come up with a simple idea. I now submit the details to see if everyone approves, or has a better idea. I call it the event-wide roll system. Basically, instead of rolling on the success or failure of defense, offense and counters which would be more suited to a one-on-one battle, the system would have each player roll for the success of their actions in the combat part of the overall event. For example: Exile one rolls. Exile one rolls a high number in the flawless success margin (i.e. above 70). Exile one emotes action and/or attacks as successful through that phase of the event. Exile one suffers no consequences. Exile two rolls. Exile two rolls a mid-range number in the rough success margin (i.e. between 30 and 70). Exile two emotes success, but at a cost. That cost can be an injury, a broken weapon, broken armor, getting tired, getting afflicted with poison, ect. We can let that player decide what cost they will have their character suffer. Exile three rolls. Exile three rolls a low number in the failure margin (i.e. below 30). Exile three emotes failure, but can maybe turn that failure into, at least, a contribution. For instance, Exile three is in the midst of battle when he sees Exile two about to get hit by an arrow or spell. Exile three leaps between Exile two and the arrow or spell, and gets hit by it instead. Exile three is gravely injured, knocked-out or otherwise incapacitated for the rest of that phase. Taking agency into account: This system actually allows for character abilities to be taken into account to an extent. It allows the player to choose how their character succeeds or fails. For example, Exile four is a bad-ass warrior named Duke Nukem. However, the player rolls a failure. To concede to the failure roll, yet allow his character to maintain bad-assery, he emotes as such: /em engages his assassin attacker. Duke Nukem manages to match blows, and make effective blocks and parries of the assassin's attacks. Duke Nukem is too much for this one assassin to handle, and the assassin gets wounded by one of Duke Nukem's attacks. The assassin realizes that he will not win, so he pulls back and reaches into his robe pocket then pulls out an explosive charge. The assassin lights the charge, and grins wickedly as he hopes to take Duke Nukem with him. Duke Nukem's trained warrior reflexes allows him to leap away just in time to not suffer the full force of the explosion. However, the blast knocks him off his feet, and he lands on the ground so hard that it temporarily incapacitates him. As you can see, his character went down like a hero. He is not dead, but the assassins is. He manages a small success even if he was ultimately knocked out. In the next phase, (if there is one for that event) he could shake off his daze, and rise to fight again, like a boss. Summary/conclusion. I have not yet decided on how we will do the rolls, but I'm sure there are websites for that. If anyone knows of one, please tell me. Otherwise, I will gladly do the search myself. So, I would like to know who wants to be involved in the next event. Let me know when you are available via PM, with a post on this thread or with a tell in-game. I would also like feedback on my proposed combat/event system. Does it need adjusting? Can we work with it at all? Does anyone have any other ideas?
20. I've already said my piece, so I'll just second this^
21. Hey there! I am a big fan of Miqo'te lore, and play a traditional one myself, but many Miqo'te aren't traditional/tribal, so it is not required in order to respect the lore behind them. However, I prefer the more traditional route with them, just because I find it more fun to play. The nocturnal Miqo'te are the Keepers of the Moon (like me ). They have eyes designed to see well in the dark, and they have a powerful sense of smell. If you haven't read this link below, please do. It answers your questions about naming conventions and gives you info on some of their lore. http://www.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Category:Miqo%27te This video is a bit annoying, but very informative. All lore on this video can be verified by going to the FF14arr Lodestone site. As for averages, the character creator sort of forces you to say within racial averages. For example, it is impossible to make a Miqo'te as tall as an Elezen, or as bulky as a Roegadyn. If you are trying to use a specific name. The only rules you have to follow to give your Miqo'te Keeper a traditional name are as follows: Female Keepers of the Moon (the nocturnal Miqo'te) have names with one or two syllables. So, Deinaa works, or Dei works too. However, if you want to add a more Miqo'te sound to the name, I would throw in an 'h' somewhere. Examples: Deinah, Dhei, Dheinaa, or anything else you can think of. Do not use Dei'naa. Female Keepers do not traditionally have any apostrophes or suffixes in their names. I believe A'rytiss Edar already gave you a good answer to your other questions. Another thread where players have made their own Keeper groups/tribes/clans is found here. The lore is vague on how a traditional Keeper society would function other than it would be matriarchal, and be made of two to three families. So the info in this thread is purely our best educated guesses based on tiny smatterings of lore put forth so far. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=5701 If you have any more questions, feel free to post more topics. Don't worry, no body will be bothered by it. Or, you can PM me.
22. The new poses fit Kiht soooo well. I was playing around with emotes and taking screen shots when I found I could chain some of the ones I took together to make a little scenario. Kiht Jakkya is annoyed with you. Kiht Jakkya has figured out what to do to you. Kiht Jakkya socks you one. Kiht Jakkya is not sorry.
23. It depends, but its definitely possible. Start with a back-story foundation for your character. Don't make things too specific. Then, start RPing and allow your story to expand organically. Or, if you see a plot mentioned that you -really- want to get involved in, contact the leaders of the plot and ask to join. As for which server to choose; both are really great, and both are really active now. You can't go wrong.
