  1. It is indeed a thing! We'll keep an eye out!
  2. The heavy crafting / gathering boots (I forgot the exact item name but they're pretty low-level) are work boots that look almost identical to these and the Cloud Strife boots. Also, the 60 MNK trenchcoat thing is pretty much pulled from a 2015 catalog.
  3. My suggestions would depend entirely on exactly what sorts of problems you're currently experiencing. Based on your post, it just seems to be that the working area is too small; if pressing Tab still leaves it as being too small for you, then no art program is really going to grant you more "space."
  4. It'll be buy to play, with an entry of $30, looks like. Release is sometime early next year.
  5. According to lore, there was a civilization before those that are currently around that used a material that people now call "Black Stones" as a power-source. There's a bunch of them in ruins in a stretch of desert claimed by another country, so one country that wants to lay claim to the region started calling it the Black Desert. They went to war with the country that controls it, sandwiching and practically annexing several other countries in-between in order to get to it. If I remember right, the war was eventually fought to a stand-still, and both sides retracted before trying to acquire more stones through other means. Apparently, the other country in the war calls it the Red Desert, after how many of them died defending it.
  6. This is my big hangup as well. I love me some anime visuals and all that (TALES GAMES TALES GAMES TALES GAMES TALES GAMES), but for some reason the people in Blade and Soul look kinda sweaty and greasy and just...Odd. It's a little odd and sometimes downright nightmarish to look at. That, and I don't like the way that they executed their overworld design either. The animations also look rather stiff and don't flow well to me. I'll still probably try it anyway because I really like the concept of the game that they're making, but I'm still firmly more excited for Black Desert at the moment.
  7. I wouldn't say it's weighted towards PvP, but open-world PvP is a thing that happens when you reach level 50 or so. There are PvP activities that happen between guilds, but the only thing that it really seems your forced to do PvP-wise is just the standard "people can kill you in the open world" thing. To be fair though that is a thing that a lot of people aren't interested in. I'm not too sold on it myself, but I'm probably going to tough it out for the rest of the game anyway.
  8. There are animated emotes, but no /e or /em style emotes (which isn't too bad for a lot of people, it seems). The way that animated emotes come about are a little odd, because they become available as you level up and play the game for some reason, I'm not sure why. The strange thing about them though is that in addition to /slash commands, emotes can also be triggered naturally through dialogue. It's a little awkward at first, but apparently you can change the words that trigger them in order to make them seem more natural. So for example, by default, if you type something like "I'm not going to do that," or "No, I haven't seen him," into your chat bar, your character will do a /no emote as they speak. It's got the potential to be pretty cool and smooth, though it'll probably require a lot of individual tweaking in order for people to get it to line up with the way that they usually type.
  9. I actually found the gameplay to be crazy fun, since it's the same sort of action-based things that are cropping up in other games like Blade and Soul, with dodging and combo-based inputs and button combinations and all that. Though I do find some classes to be more fun / play differently / attack faster than others, so depending on what he was playing I might have another opinion. So far, Sorceress has been my favorite to play because of the speed, but I'm also looking forward to Blader as well.
  10. Unrelated, apparently snow is being worked on.
  11. It's actually entirely possible that you won't have to, I would suggest trying to run it first. It's extremely well optimized, much to my surprise. If you can run XIV, I guarantee you that you can run Black Desert on at least one setting above whatever you currently have XIV on. I have no idea how they got it to run that smooth, but it does. Somehow. Really? That's awesome! I can run FFXIX at max with 50-60fps and was worried I'd still have to upgrade for Black Desert. Yeah, I game on a laptop so I was crazy concerned that I would need some sort of upgrade, but you'll be absolutely fine. It's also worth noting that even on medium settings the game still manages to look fantastic (to be honest, "medium" settings in this game is another MMO's "high" anyway). Only real graphical problem that I encountered in the Beta (and that a lot of people did) is that there seems to be a high degree of pop-in, but apparently that's being looked into. The playerbase seems divided on whether or not that's due to graphical capability or latency, though.
  12. It would be better if we were at least promised that they would have some sort of noticeable, tangible advantage over other weapons at at least some point in their development. But from what I can tell we don't even have that yet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  14. u1E1HKmCA4Q For some reason I'm extremely pumped for more of this game's music, I have no idea why. A lot of it is really amazing (even if I spent most of my time running around to Sounds of the Shire in the beta). The minstrel music really grabbed me somehow though, and now I'm obsessed with it. Also, RP site is here.
  15. So since there's a thread up for Blade and Soul, I thought I'd see if anyone was playing the vastly superior other Korean MMO that's coming out, Black Desert. The first Beta just ended, and I think there's supposed to be one more. Personally I thought it was quite fun. There's an RP community up for it if anyone's interested in that as well, though it seems to be rather small at the moment.
  16. I'll probably watch the anime and do a full dissection of it just for kicks. Still extremely mixed on the game, but I'll always give animation a shot.
  17. If she couldn't have bought it or had it made, then she got it from someone. I'd use the first portion of Zoya's post. Maybe it belonged to someone important that she once knew, and now it belongs to her.
  18. Maybe it's got some darkness-channeling Materia in it or something.
  19. I can't remember since it's been a while since I recruited someone, but I'm pretty sure that they have to pay for the first $15 month before you get any feathers.
  20. Which are what, specifically?
  21. Would anyone mind giving a spill on the game? I really like the concept, but the character designs and world visuals disgust me, as well as the somewhat disjointed flow of attack animations. But I'm still willing to give it a try anyway if someone has a good sales pitch.
  22. Pure-blood Garleans cannot use magic at all, ever. None of the Garlean troops that you encounter doing magic are pure-bloods; they're people that were captured, conscripted, or hired into the Garlean army from other populations. Since magic is a big advantage, they take people from other populations that can use it for them.
