  1. I love those Nathan! Aya's would similarly be performance, mostly dancing, of increasing enrapturement!
  2. Surely she sprung forth spontaneously in an explosion of awesomeness!
  3. Yay! (I did the same thing by the way.. Just hopped right in! I never did post an intro thread...)
  4. I guess I use real time as a basic guage. Sometimes games have time skips and then you just go with the flow
  5. Yay! A motherboard problem would still result in the power-supply fan kicking in, so I was sure it wasn't computer death! Glad to hear it was just a loose cable, though not the one originally suspect
  6. Aya watches as Eva looks prepared to argue, mouth opened and features momentarily taught, only to balk. Eva's wry smile met Aya's amused grin, her eyes opened wider and infused with light-hearted energy. "So you're saying you know where I should live based on how much I smile?" she asked with that self-same smile bearing a look of mischievous curiosity. She followed almost immediately with another question, rolling whimsically in her lilting tone, "What made you come to Ul'dah then? Looking for other people to be gloomy with?" she leans a little closer, the mischievousness no less evident.
  7. Can someone remind me? Isn't Tiergan single? *eyes hopefully*
  8. Edgar casts "Free Portraits!" Excitement is in the air!!!
  9. Are you planning just one raid night a week? How long do you plan to raid on that night?
  10. Good luck making it on! I wish that we had better news than this. Its unfortunate that getting onto one of the RP servers requires shenanigans, but I do think you'll find it worthwhile if you do!
  11. I'm more or less of the opinion that Warren expressed earlier. People may RP what they wish, that's the nature of open-world MMO RP. The only thing that individual players can really do is chose with whom they interact, and how they treat their own "headcanon" to use a popular phrase. I don't think much of the MSQ, and never have. I do not find it a compelling story (although it has interesting moments), and outside of what it reveals about the lore of the world itself, I do not consider it canon. Whether or not Ascians exists, or Hydaelen interferes in the realm of mortals, my character hasn't the slightest clue (and would shrug off as a nut anyone who insisted they -knew- otherwise). Primals are summoned, and primals are killed. If someone really worked it well and deeply into their story, or wrote an adventure arch around it that dealt reasonably and faithfully with the power of primals I might find it rather interesting! If I encounter a couple of guys on a street-corner boasting about how they fight primals with a hand-tied-behind-their-back my character will treat that in the same fashion as any other puffed up blade trying to talk big. That said, if you've got a group that enjoys RPing the MSQ as if its a "thing" that "really happened" by all means! More power to you, enjoy the RP and don't worry about the detractors. This is a game, and its meant to be fun, and everyone's idea of fun is different. Just don't try to tell anyone else that they have to go along with it.
  12. Aya takes a seat at the table, setting her purse down on the ground, and folding her legs together, with the shortness of her skirt. She listens with a pleasant smile, elbows resting on armrests, and hands folded in her lap, offering little nods as she listens. "We see what we choose to see." she says with a soft confidence that quietly cuts through her previous cheerful tone. "You're right, I guess. But there's also celebration, love of life, energy too. So much to look forward to, to enjoy, and smile about." She offers a little shrug, hands shifting a little in her lap, "I mean you'll find all of those things everywhere you go. Sometimes worse, sometimes better. May as well enjoy!"
  13. Aya accepted the gloss, slipping it back into her purse with a nodding smile. "Mmhmmm! I'm not sure why you're looking to the city for your smiles, though! I mean, sometimes a gorgeous sunset, or the sudden feeling of raindrops on a hot day make me smile, but its so much more about people, and friends, and things to look forward to!" She ascends the steps just behind Evangeline, "I mean, here we are climbing up to a nice place for some tea, a lovely view, and a little unexpected visit with a friend, right? What's not to smile about!" she emphasizes her last sentence with a cheerful excitement as they reach the landing at the roof.
  14. Noooooooooo! I can't get away from it in-game, now its going to chase us on the forums too?
  15. Aya reaches down for her small purse, dangling from a shoulder strap. Her fingers delve in search while she giggles softly with Eva's reply. Her lively eyes casting just a glance toward the Elezen. For a moment she regards the found object of her search, before twisting open the small cylindrical container. Using her index finger she gently drew a dab of the waxy-material, spreading it upon her stretched lips while Eva asked about her mood. The forced expression locked away a grin that wished to pull upon her lips, which she followed instead by pursing and then drawing her lips together to ensure the wind-protecting gloss was spread evenly. A repressed grin seemed to tug at her body language all the while. At last, the exercise complete, she drew her hands back down, tossing her hair with the swiftness of her shift into an amused pose, beaming her broad, cheerful grin Eva's way. "Aaaalways!" she replied boisterously in her light voice, not quite laughing. Her grin narrowed along with her eyes as she leaned a little closer to the Elezen as if sharing a secret, "Well... maybe not quite always." Swiftly she drew her left hand up on a motion as smooth as it was sudden. Fingertips gently gripped the little cylinder of cosmetic. "Lip gloss?" she asked without otherwise moving. "It great for your lips in all this dry wind!"
  16. There are so many ls's in this community that will leap to help you too! If you're not part of any of these yet, I am sure that we can help you there as well Warren really is right in his observation about people generally being willing to help new people! It may be grudging but they are helpful ^^ The exception is the "raid" content generally, but none of that is really needed.
  17. I know that some people do that (I've had a GM do that in pen and paper games too!), but at some level she accepted and wanted that risk (it may not have been her desired outcome, but obviously if she'd really not wanted that chance, she'd have not rolled the die). That's just the way it is when no biology is actually involved
  18. This is something that's always hand-waved in every MMO RPG ever. Pregnancy occurs when desired, and not when it isn't. There's always some handy explanation ranging from good luck to contraceptive herbal remedies (which are universally effective and available!) Fantasy is fantasy
  19. For some reason all I can see is the Seeker equivalent of the old traveling Wild West shows.
  20. Some how I missed this... its such a good question. Aya's background mixes several powerful influence. That of her Ala Mhigan birth and parentage is that which throughout her life she has done her best to resist. She has no interest in ending up like her parents, or so many other Ala Mhigans, wasting away their lives (in her pov) while pining for a past that cannot be reclaimed. Instead she looks toward the future, adapting to her environment as best she can. Because of this she considers Ishgard, where she was raised, her home and homeland. But, she cannot leave her Ala Mhigan birth or her time as a refugee behind. It has left its indelible mark upon her, no matter how much she tries to escape it. To quote from some of what I have written about her: 1) "The way of war required a manner of thinking so apart from herself. One could almost call it unnatural, but it came far more naturally than she would ever care to admit. Born to a line of warriors, and steeped in the blood of heroes, she stepped with discomforting ease into the echoes of the past. She recalled seeing the family's Crow Banner waving high upon the rampart: a last, fleeting glimpse of a child's proud homestead. In her mind she had seen visions of battles long passed, glorious dead and legendary feats of arms. 'Ridiculous,' 'pointless', 'wasteful', she would say, and yet all too comfortable." 2) "Worse was yet to come. She was a daughter of Ala Mhigo, if far removed. She had struggled against everything she was meant to be, yet at times the pull of blood fell stronger than reason: could she bear to see another friend die, while she stood helpless?"
