  1. Awwwwww, just not doing that as much as I have at other times! I was gone for a month on holiday (got back near Christmas), and then took the time to catch up on the MSQ, and to work on an in-character project (which I've been hinting at in screenshot posts, but its not ready yet!), aaaand other real life stuff :-] I was serving last night! I wish I were there more often, because every time I am I have a good time!
  2. As often as you want the barmaid to come over and talk to you, in my experience!
  3. This is so true. I could turn every emote into a page of text if I wished. But the line has to be drawn somewhere depending upon context, especially in the case of public RP. Very nice Faye :-]
  4. A warmed hint of bashfulness appeared on Aya's features at Eva's remarking upon her accent. Carmined lips pursed slightly, as her eyes demurred. "Well, I can't really help it!" A moment seemed to restore her expressiveness as she lifted her eyes again, flashing a bright smile that showed the brilliant white behind her grinning red lips. "Too busy looking instead of listening?" She let out an irrepressible giggle, while her fingers reached up to brush long bangs back. "Oh? Over the wall? Oh...!" she exhales an excited little sigh, "I just love getting to see the view from up there..!" She glanced upward now, coinciding with the drawing of a breath, almost a gasp. The towers of Ul'dah always seemed to catch her attention: symbols of hope in better things to come, and bitter-sweet reminders of home.
  5. Aya slipped out the door, leaving a final cheerful smile, and wave of her hand for Investigator Hara. She felt the slight bite of chill air upon her exposed skin, but the Ul'dah winter, with the sun still burning bright in the mid-day sky, held little to fear. A brief gust of wind whipped momentarily at her short skirt, and slipped through the loosely tied, open Thanalan-styled blouse, causing the briefest expression of discomfort, before she turned her eyes toward Evangeline with a bright, excited smile. Knee-high heeled boots climbed down the front steps of the office one-at-a-time until she joined the Elezen upon the stone-paved, sun-drenched boulevard. "Did you have a place in mind?" she asked in a light, playful tone, as if she wouldn't care about the answer, the vowels lilting in her Ishgardian accent.
  6. *Crai* Final Fantasy is an original MMO world, which means.. I think.. that the lore will always be lacking. How can culture and lore be deeply established with nuance, tradition, history, and all of the depth of human cultures, without being written on the pages of books? All an MMO can present are vignettes and superficial glimpses. I think with that limitation drawing from stereotypical Fantasy tropes (based upon easy to recognize human cultural cues) makes an incredible amount of sense. They've given us enough bread crumbs to fill in the gaps ourselves, while throwing in enough unexpected twists that no one outside of Midlanders seem bland. (Now why have they left Midlanders so bland? I really can't tell you). I have a suspicion that the originally quoted text was a statement born largely out of frustration at a certain interpretation of Miqo'te characters by the playerbase at large. No doubt much of this interpretation is due to the legion of ERP-characters parading about the QS and its environs (though I would like to note that Highlanders ladies are nearly as common as Miqo'te). I certainly understand that frustration! Still, although I don't think it was really meant literally, the idea of looking down upon someone for not explicitly paying detailed attention to the tail and ears of a Miqo'te character is a little silly. Are they really that important? And if they are, what is a Hyur to do without them? Certainly the full range of emotional response should be expressible without any reference to either... I'm not even convinced that Miqo'te can twitch their ears like cats, and if they can.. I find that really disturbing! But, the bottom line is that Balmung is full of serious and interesting RPers (along with those who are less serious and less interesting). This population does not cleave to the understood in-game population at all. There are vastly more Miqo'te, vastly more male Miqo'te in particular, and nowhere near as many Lalafel and Hyur as would be expected. Trying to force the playerbase into even a lore-founded conception of what the people of Eorzea should be like is going to be a fool's game.
  7. Pshhhh I like my idea (because he wants to sound like this other really smart guy!), but you can go and do something technical with it instead
  8. MISS YOU OSRIC! Come back soon! :-]
  9. There was a nerdy inn-keeper who sometimes took him in when he was a kid. The fellow was fond of saying someone was "technically correct." Well, that 'Technic' guy must have been amazing to always be so correct!
  10. Fox names are bad names! I understand that there are quite a number of "cast off" Miqo'te who live in Limsa and have given up Miqo'te culture entirely to adapt to the hustle and bustle of the pirate-capital port. I don't think you have anything to worry about
  11. Welcome back Little Mister Pumpkin!
  12. Aya pictures don't need spoiler tags! Though sometimes maybe they should!!! The little bell on the cap is soooo cute!
  13. Concert! Party time!!! :love::love::love::love:

    Hello!

    It's a Sven!!! *celebrates!*
  15. Everyone thinks about concepts and abstract ideas differently. The more complicated, typically, the more ways there are to arrive at the same answer. Addition is simple, and I imagine most of us do mental addition in the same manner (or using a small set of similar approaches). Multiplication is much more complicated, same with division, and there are a myriad of ways we may go about it.. or not go about it! I would hope teachers could be flexible enough to try to deal with students reaching the same, correct, answer using different mental approaches. When it comes to these sorts of basic mathematical operations, the best method I ever had for learning them was a terribly strict math teacher who would make the entire class stand up 5 minutes before her class ended (stand up so that you couldn't use pen and paper or calculator) and then verbally go through a long series of operations: "5 plus 3 times 8 divided by four plus six subtract 2 and divide by 2), and whoever answered correctly first got to leave the classroom. There was no method involved, but there was motivation to get it right (since you got an extra long break to go talk to friends between classes or whatever!) and it made you work. I think class by class, week by week most of us got a lot better at doing math in our heads and that sort of improvement becomes ingrained and sticks with you. I never found teaching me a particular method was as effective as making me just want to solve these problems in real time. Anyway, not really a useful anecdote, but something I always think of when the topic of math education comes up
  16. Almost entirely unrelated, but I just want more skirts! Some short skirts that aren't mini-skirts, and some knee-length ones would be nice, thank you!
  17. All hail Sultan Baldric! http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20141107202931/blackadder/images/0/0e/Admiral_Baldrick.jpg[/img]
  18. A God'ess, you could at least get that right! ^^
  19. I never have trouble with peppers.. though I don't use anything hotter than seranos typically I always feel that if you've got an onion that's making you teary, you've got yourself a good onion!! Heat small amount of olive oil. Add diced garlic and jalapeno for about 60s (to release the oils in both - I think!). Add onion and brown. (Beginning of like every Aya recipe ever).
