Those are amazing CC! ^^
-
I really don't know anything about them yet, so I can't really say. But I do not really play alts much (or at all, especially in FF!) so I can't imagine making one other than to see what their customization ). I would not flatly rule one out if I were to be replacing Aya for whatever reason, but it probably isn't the first one I'd expect!

I just want to point out that I am not angry, and that I hope that players are excited even if I'm really not

There's another thread "Character Face Claims" that presented a similar idea and quite a few people took the time to write up their reasons for their selections. This thread is something of a necro, though if people are enjoying posting here, may as well! Although my "avatar" for Aya is a webcomic character (Ellie from Shotgun Shuffle - see my avatar ^^), I picked Charlotte McKinney for a RL model for her

Stop being reasonable. Wanting ALL the hot boys isn't reasonable. Sharing is caring. Aya's not that reasonable ^_~
-
As far as I'm concerned there's room for all kinds of hot guys!!

I just wish they'd make the females as bestial as the males, but I know its not something that's going to happen. They like these aesthetics, and its not hard to understand why. I don't really think technical limitations come into play, both WoW and TERA have dealt with non-humanoid shapes (with differing levels of grace), and FF could have found a way if that is what they had wanted to do. But they want to make the Miqo'te version of dragon-people, and that's their prerogative I'll roll my eyes at it still, because, of course they would make an unbelievably dainty feminine model, and a hyper masculine model, of course! They have done a nice job of making some highly muscled feminine characters in the game, at least, so I have to give them their due for that! Something other games (*cough* TERA *cough*) utterly fail at providing. [Then I remembered the Amani, but I'm going to keep this as I wrote it originally ^^]

Okay, I may have put too much emphasis on the rather categorical statements at the opening of the post which certainly appear to proscribe the very idea of having an opinion on any voluntary and private transaction. That's certainly how it was taken by the recipient of the message, and that's how I read it. The caveat at the end didn't seem to carry nearly as much wait, but it was meant to. Sorry for misunderstanding you Haha, I suppose, in a sense! Sometimes tautologies have a purpose... :-] I've also enjoyed your opinions on the Au Ra as expressed in the rest of the thread!

I would like to see some extensive facial ridges that gave the more of a draconic visage

Alright, Berrod, that's fine. However, I've seen multiple cases lately (including in this thread, and in your responses in C'kayah's thread last week) that boil down to, "You cannot have that opinion." I have been terribly disappointed to see that, and it really does not seem like an isolated phenomenon, but instead what is becoming an expected reply to an opinion that is disliked. "I disagree with X, but I don't want to explain why I disagree with X, instead I will explain why X is not an opinion that someone should have." That is not discussion, it is not constructive, and it is not an approach that should be taken within a respectful and friendly community (it is also offensive to the idea of free and open discussion). My point of view is that people ought to be able to freely express their opinion, and discuss why they hold it without the threat of being held underwater for doing so. There are a lot of people disappointed about the Au Ra ranging from eye-rolling to distraught (okay maybe not that much!), and there are people who are really excited for them. I found it interesting to see the two opinions expressed, and why, and it has even lead to some interesting discussion pondering the origin of the race, and how they will be represented in the game. This is all well, and good, in fact it is the very wonderful purpose toward which a discussion forum is designed. On the idea that you've expressed here, that's all well-and-good, I suppose, but it doesn't seem to really mean anything. I may as well tell you that if you want a non-bulky male option to play that you should make your own MMO. Is that any more responsive to what you've said on the previous page, than what you said in your reply? Has it added anything to the discussion?
-
Alright then.. but that's basically tautology. You can only change something by changing it, that's true. But that doesn't mean that people cannot have, express, and discuss their varied opinions on something without someone implying, "if you don't like it, you should do something about it." Everyone has different opinions, and perhaps just as importantly, different weights of importance that they give to their opinions. I do not understand why discussion threads such as these devolve into the validity of opinions, that is not something that should even come up, let alone crop up in virtually every discussion thread that appears on this forum any more.

Okay.. I don't follow this argument at all. You're not allowed to criticise anything unless you're prepared to make it yourself? Don't complain about hardware unless you're ready to go into the semi-conductor business? Don't complain about a car unless you're ready to go into the automobile business? Don't complain about cruddy airlines unless you're ready to start your own? Don't complain about the weather unless you're prepared to create your own universe?

Happy and Merry Tiiiiiiimes!

I'm with Tiergan. If someone thinks its lazy he should feel free to say so. If you disagree, don't say, "you shouldn't say its lazy." Why shouldn't I? If you disagree, explain why and try to change the person's mind. I don't personally think its lazy (I think they're just making what people want, as this thread suggests), but I can see why someone would think that.

Tie will forever be poor in gil but forever loved by everybody ♥ I have literally only 17k on me right now. I wanted to bid on people, but was too poor. :V You know that Aya would go on a date with Tiergan as long as he has enough to cover the meal, right?

It certainly isn't the case that the male Au Ra are meant to be unattractive, and the females attractive, I don't think that anyone was suggesting that! It boils down to "beastly" being a potentially positive trait for male attractiveness, while its (beyond a tiny touch) generally considered unattractive on females. So, they design a somewhat beastly male, and a female with a tail and tiny horns slapped on. Its not quite as ridiculous as Amani from TERA, but its in the same vein. That isn't to say that I blame hte developers for it, they are just giving people what they want, in the end, but I was reflecting on the comment before mine, and really that kind of dimorphism doesn't just not score points with me, it makes me roll my eyes. Now, I know, Aya eye-rolls are kind of the end of the world and all, but I don't think its that big of a deal :-] Aaaand, just to comment on the reptile dimorphism thing. Reptiles do tend to have some amount of size dimorphism (or quite large in, say, crocodiles), they are almost impossible to tell apart via appearance as there are no secondary sexual characteristics. For that matter, there are no primary sexual characteristics since the sexes share the same external genitals. But, of course, the Au Ra aren't reptilian, the females have breasts! They're as much dragon-people, as Miqo'te are cat-people, which is not to say much at all, just enough to suggest the idea, but no more. I'm also just going to add that I like my Dragons as classical monsters. That, is, as representations of the evil and darkness that exists out there in the world. Not mindless (in fact, their intelligence and craftiness is part of the terror they generate), but as intractably opposed to the well being of people. FF XIV has certainly represented Dragons in this vein, and that's one of the things I like about the world. Au Ra, I suspect, will change that. Oh well
-
I like that people seem so excited about them :-] That's a big plus at least!
-
I'm really not a fan of sexual dimorphism when it seems to mainly exist to avoid making an "unattractive" female version, and I feel like that's what we're looking at here. I also am not inspired by the idea of the race itself. So, overall, I'll give a resounding "meh". Don't think I'll ever make one :-]

Ready for anything.
-
I am honestly surprised at the rush to shut down an entirely reasonable and civil discussion. Like or dislike it (I really don't care either way, personally) you should discuss the merits of your opinion, rather than telling someone that he shouldn't have one (or shouldn't express it).

Aya would totally sign up for a blind date!!
-
This would be a very long list ^^

Or just to play in other people's houses! That's my favorite way
