Something about your character few know...
Aya replied to Erik Mynhier's topic in Character Workshop
All sorts of things -
A rainy, All Saint's Wake, Evening in Ul'dah

I would really suggest not stressing too much about current in-game date, its just too much effort for too little reward! Celebrate a birthday when you'd like to celebrate a birthday, and so on
-
I would say "I do!" but sometime tells me Verad wouldn't believe me :-] I think there are people that adopt this attitude, but only to be trolls.

People gain the courage to order a drink and engage in a little RP

Aya casts a narrow-eyed look at the men huddled together, before she glances back to Coatleque with a smirking-smile. "Not until we're done with tea..." she picks up one of the chocolates and takes a bit, before sipping on her tea cup. "So how long has it been since you were last in Gridania? Do you visit often?"

The lore for this world is on the light side, and has been well stated, many characters live within the "Grey" areas. I try to live within established lore, or at least within established lore and "feel of the game", as much as possible. There are some points that I've worried about Aya's story working out correctly (such as with the timing of the invasion of Ala Mhigo, and the closing of Ishgard's gates), but I believe so far I've been able to avoid having to make any significant adjustments That said, adjustments to stay lore relevant seem like a good idea. I don't have any good idea about what to do for someone whose entire character concept is endangered by changing lore, except I would try to make as small of changes as possible.

Tiergan's Thread of Shameless Self-Promotion [No Commissions. Apologies.]
Aya replied to Tiergan's topic in Artisan House
Wow.. just look at that list.. -
Aya trying (unsuccessfully) to comfort a competitor from Otto's Fight Club!

I am not sure how this took me so long:
-
I prefer to have different totally super powers!
-
How could there ever have been any question about this? The story line is an obvious single-player story thrust upon an MMO.

Aya just smiles as she nods along. "That is how Elezen are..." she comments with a knowing grin. "C'kayah's a dear friend. I suppose he's a trader of sorts, he does a lot of business between the Shroud, Limsa, and Ul'dah. He used to spend more time here when he and Ser Natalie were an item.. but times change~" she offers a little shrug along with an amused smile. "I am surprised you don't know more about him than I do, given the sort of trouble he always seems to be getting in..." she laughs.
-
Aya's eyes opened a little further at the mention of Gridania, "Oh, really?! I did not know you had spent much time in Gridania! Did you like it there? Where the sun filters in like little shafts through the leaves?" she made a silly little motion with her fingers, trying to emulate the rays of sunlight in the forest. "I think its such a wonderful place..." She lets out a sighing breath, her shoulders sagging slightly as she smiles softly. "I don't really visit too many friends, no... sometimes I see C'kayah in Limsa Lominsa, but usually when I am there he isn't. I find its a terrific place for a little shopping though, especially for shoes! Ul'dah just.. well, they don't make good shoes here, you know? They may make the best jewelry anywhere, but I guess you can't have everything!"

A Recall to Arms A warm glow breached closed eyelids, while unseen rays warmed the seated woman and the barren ground beneath her. Aya had never liked Thanalan; gritty wind bit her skin, while the heat of the sun threatened to burn all it touched. "Searing", "inhospitable", "hostile", were the words she would choose for it. Seated in this land of tormenting distraction she struggled to clear her mind. She furrowed her brow, feeling the wind ripping at her pony tail, and tearing at the braids that strained to keep her long hair in order. The Hungry Wolf taught how to clear one's mind, and push distractions away. That in the moment one's focus must be centered fully upon only what mattered, without distraction, without care. The way of war required a manner of thinking so apart from herself. One could almost call it unnatural, but it came far more naturally than she would ever care to admit. Born to a line of warriors, and steeped in the blood of heroes, she stepped with discomforting ease into the echoes of the past. She recalled seeing the family's Crow Banner waving high upon the rampart: a last, fleeting glimpse of a child's proud homestead. In her mind she had seen visions of battles long passed, glorious dead and legendary feats of arms. "Ridiculous," "pointless", "wasteful", she would say, and yet all too comfortable. Over hills and over meadows, see the crow fly, feel its shadow. Over woods, and over mountains, searching for a war. Her wings embrace each strife and battle, Where swords they clash, and chariots rattle, Seeking out the one whose time has come to take the blade. Opening her eyes, she rose slowly, lifting the long wooden pole from her lap, raising it with both hands. She recalled the premonition from the week before, a sudden intuition of dark things to come. She had taken spear and shaft from deep storage. She had known the day would come when she felt the need, but she had always assumed she would know why. She moved slowly, a ritualized motion of the long staff simulating a full spear. Today it felt lighter in her grasp, her slender fingers wheeling it with a balance more fine than the week before. As she spun the shaft about her body, lifting it over head in a routine, constant motion that appeared more a dance than a drill, she remembered the worry, no the fear, in C'kayah's voice that night. Worse was yet to come. She was a daughter of Ala Mhigo, if far removed. She had struggled against everything she was meant to be, yet at times the pull of blood fell stronger than reason: could she bear to see another friend die, while she stood helpless? She brought the shaft to a violent halt, drawing the butt-end forward with barely checked force, exhaling a cry from her lungs to push the practice strike along. A second and third followed in rapid succession, carrying out the series just as she had been taught. The cries of her high voice carried into the desert valley around her. She had never been orthodox, but continued to carry out the core practice strikes just as she had been taught beneath the towering canopy of the shroud, during those days that now seemed an age ago. Her grace and strength lent an air of performance to the practice as she carried on beneath the early-afternoon sun. The minutes wore slow as she practiced technique, struggling to recover, and remember, what had been reflex not so long ago. She embraced the effort as she did dancing itself: her mind focusing upon the movement and form of her body, dispelling rogue thoughts and distractions far more effectively than meditation. Gritty wind tore at her skin. The sun burned all it touched. And for the moment, she cared not.

Maaaaaaaaaybe.... its the mysterious land of TERA!

"Quaint? Crowded?" she laughed, "Why am I not surprised that it would be a little messy? But I bet its full of interesting stuff!" She took another sip of her tea, nodding along with Coatleque's description. "Oh I can always find -something- I am interested in!" she grins, with a soft laugh. "Jewelry, or accessories, or decorations. As long as the gil isn't too bad!" she nods energetically, with an amused smile. "I was thinking the other day that I could use some nice gloves for when the evenings get cooler, maybe he will have something cute, but at least we can look around! And you know Jancis? I've met her a couple of times, she seems really fun!"
-
Aya pulled her lips to the side in a bit of a smirk. Her annoyance at the intrusion was genuine, it seemed that when it came to Coatleque, Aya, and tea, that simple, quiet enjoyment was just never an option. Still, with Coatleque at ease, Aya just added a simple nod in their direction, returning her attention to her friend. "Well, maybe at least. I would definitely like to see Master Tarot's shop - he seems like such an interesting fellow! I don't really know what he sells though. Did you say that you've been there before?" She lifts her tea cup blowing the steam from the surface again and taking a sip.

Cade's artistic abominations | OMGWTFBBQ!? (Update: 10/17)
Aya replied to Cade's topic in Artisan House
Oh, these are cute! *waves to Cade!* -
I usually take the weather at the start of an RP scene as canon. Sometimes if it shifts, and it dramatically makes sense, or I am just in that silly mood, I will comment on it and play along with the change in weather Of course it changes a little rapidly to otherwise be believable, and day/night are similarly hard to deal with over long scenes, but it has never seemed to cause a problem Drybone is way too rainy, I agree! The rain that falls there would flood all of Thanalan!

I know a certain other crime-lord Tia who may take interest in you then. And I know a certain blonde barmaid who may like to meet him ^_~

I remember there being a past thread here or on offical forums where it was said all the "races" came from some common ancestor and half-breeds would be possible, but unlikely. It might be easier to handwave and say a child takes after one parent's more 'racial' traits. You know, like eyes, ears, and maybe tails. It may be the case, but I am no expert. I remember the discusion here and the conclusion seemed to be that there were no half-breeds in Lore. It just strikes me that a Hyur-Miqo'te child (even if fully Miqo'te) is going to be much much less likely than an Ishgardo-Gridanian child from before the gate was sealed
