  1. There is an organization of Ishgardian Exiles who were brought together by a plot specifically regarding Ishgardian Inquisitors hunting them down and trying to bring them to justice (by murder, essentially). Many of the Exiles are still around and know each other. The group could provide some RP opportunities! The only questionable thing I see is that her parents were Hyur and Miqo'te, as far as I am aware the species are not cross-fertile and there aren't any half-breeds.
  2. This raises another issue for me that I've never really been clear on and that is the existence of regional languages. Aya does not swear, but I like to imagine when she does that it is in Ishgardian and sounds rather lyrical to the ear.
  3. Gil spammers often re-spam (my experience when I have not immediately added one to my blacklist), so it is quite helpful to add them, especially now that its just a button click away I do not care what a griefer thinks. I do not care about his or her motivation, I do not care about what he or she is trying to accomplish, and I certainly do not care about what she or she thinks about "winning" or "defeating" me. All I care about is having a fun time without being bothered by the harassment, and that is best accomplished by ignoring it, which is most easily (and somewhat permanently) achieved via the blacklist.
  4. You misunderstand me! This is a type of harassment where people follow others around always standing upon them, or right up against them, trying to disrupt RP. It has nothing to do with zoning in on someone To Franzie: I know who you're talking about, but sadly this is not strictly limited to them.
  5. I am sorry that I did not make it, I have missed having these events lately, they always make for such a fun evening Glad to hear it went so well, and hopefully next time there will be a Ghost Aya around for it!
  6. I have never, and hope I never have to block anyone for actual RP stuff... (but I understand why it happens! just hope it doesn't happen to me) I have a hair trigger for blacklisting people for any sort of intentional harassment. Being obnoxious (not ICly, that's like okay!), spamming, standing on people, etc. If I see any of that you're blacklisted, and that's that.
  7. There are a lot of different ways that people RP combat in MMO RPGs. I've been witness to cases where death was simply off the table, bad guys are beat up, and knocked unconscious, rather than killed, and the same for the protagonists. Yes, its not as "gritty", its not as "dark", its not as "believable" but its still perfectly valid RP that people do for enjoyment and story-building. That's why its easy to see why someone might pull that trigger in the moment, IC-ly, without really connecting the dots on the possible ramifications. Such as former friends now unwilling to even meet your gaze, let alone talk to you. Becoming a pariah within the social circles that you used to frequent, or perhaps even being hunted, or hounded by those with whom you once broke bread. Ultimately this is a game, played for fun, and if that is something that would ruin the fun, rather than contributing to it, than that should be the player's decision to willingly make. Perhaps there is value in trying to enforce "realistic" ramifications to every action that occurs within a scenario. But no one should ever feel railroaded into an unwanted situation, period. Now, we've gone on quite a while about this particular bit, and I have no ideas whatosever what the person in question here actually wants or wishes, instead my point is: Serious RP actions should have serious RP consequences. If a player does not wish for his or her character to have to deal with said consequences, then the character ought not carry out the serious RP action. Better to claim that the action did not actually take place (or in this case took place at the hands of another), than to try to draw a meta-game shield around the character to prevent the consequences.
  8. On the matter of the topic at hand, I do hope that the one whose hand was responsible either is alright with what happened, or has some way to get out of it (going as far as retconning). I understand both points of view on this: that a player should know that his character may kill another character in a certain situation, and that knowingly employing a lethal weapon is inherently a recognition of that possibility. Nonetheless, because of the ramifications involved, I would certainly hope that the player actually wishes this upon his character rather than feeling it forced upon him, because that seems like it would serve no one. On the flip side, everyone's characters should be free to have the IC response that they wish. If that includes seeking vengeance, so be it, why should the meta-game be brought in to forswear what may be an entirely appropriate in-character response? Obviously I don't think that there should be any OOC animosity involved, but its a pretty serious situation for the characters to have one person they know, killed by another.
  9. Not... at all. This event touches a significant proportion of the users of this site. This is the appropriate forum.
  10. Very much so! It stood out as such a part of her too.
  11. I really did enjoy TERA, but it was on the outrageous side. It, honestly, had the best MMO combat that I have ever played. I enjoyed it so much I really played the game for that long before I RPed in it. Its a shame that such a wonderful combat system was imbedded in such a thin, lackluster game. It did, however, lead me directly to FF. If it were not for the group of friends I made in TERA, I would never have even been tempted to try FF. They literally pulled me along despite my "better judgement" TERA's Aya:
  12. Aya sat alone upon the floor of the small, simple room that had become her home in Ul'dah. It seemed like yesterday that Natalie and Kage had greeted her with welcome smile, and raised mugs. Their cheer, and their hospitality had set her upon the course that brought her to the heart of the desert. Now, months later, many of their friends, struggles, and trials were her own. She had become intricately tied into the world in which they had lead her. Days had passed, and she had hardly the opportunity to grieve. Now it seemed to come at once, behind closed doors, where the need to be strong, to comfort, and to support faded into lingering shadows. Stained cheeks gave testament to sorrow. She lifted a peanut from a bowl resting on the floor, staring at it intently, as if it could summon back that goofy smile. Instead it summoned only its image, from the bittersweet of pleasant memory.
  13. *sniff sniff* Kage and Warren, you guys are going to hurt my feelings! ; . ;
  14. My very first thought when I saw Otto was, "So this is a Highlander who wants to look like the Breaking Bad guy..." Does this make me b-bad Aya-san? *laughs* Otto is so very bad!
  15. My very first thought when I saw Otto was, "So this is a Highlander who wants to look like the Breaking Bad guy..."
  16. I saw NPC Brass Blades in the Verad thingy last night! That's so wonderful *big thumbs up*
  17. Aya

    Kudos!

He had better be alright, or there shall be hell to pay! o7
  18. I suspect that seeing a tribal Miqo'te wearing tribal garb around Ul'dah is about as shocking as seeing someone in tribal garb in a modern city. That doesn't mean it "shouldn't happen", but it does mean that it may raise eyebrows! Not that anyone should have an OOC problem with that, but as most things, if you're doing something in-character, you can expect other characters to have their own judgements about it, even if you don't like them Disclaimer: Aya wears desert inappropriate outfits almost every day! Its one of the reasons she doesn't like to venture outside of the city and into Thanalan.
  19. Many, if not most of us, are RPing characters that are (at most) loosely designed around in-game classes. I don't think you have to worry If that weren't the case you and I would be in a lot of trouble until they came out with the merchant, barmaid, and dancer classes!
