We have more than enough DPS classes for now. And with every new one more people flock to those classes to try them out. Which is fine, people like to try the new things out and all, but you're not going to get very far if the constant tank players don't get something new to play with every once in a while. Got to give them something to keep them around after all, a little more variety to play around with, something with a potentially more engaging combo. Maybe.

DARK KNIGHT CONFIRMED!!! Oh, and other junk...
Rythulian replied to Zac Evans's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Already had a thread about the London things over here. Couldn't this have been added onto that? -
Expansion Announced: Heavensward, releasing Spring 2015
Rythulian replied to Zyrusticae's topic in FFXIV News
Flying mounts confirmed. Black chocobos and single person airships. Other mounts in production. Mounts getting a speed increase. Vanu vanu beast tribe and their primal Bismarck. Gnath beast tribe and their primal Ravana (original character) Dark knight officially announced. Confirmed as a tank. Two handed sword as a weapon, also uses 'darkness'. No base class involved, comes with the expansion. Next new class won't be revealed until Tokyo. Gun class heavily hinted though so. Live from London fanfest. -
That is the new armour. It's basically a recolour of the last set. If you look at the gear list it's gone from, say, 'Bearsmaw' gear to 'Bearliege' gear.
-
I believe the coil gear is the Dreadwyrm set which would be this... Wyrm as in a dragon. And certainly the staffs have a 'dragon wing' sort of style going on.
-
Just saying you can still get to that picture of the ironworks gear. They might have removed it from the patch notes but the link to the image still exists.
-
I'm unlikely to ever use it personally but I would love to get an invite to someone else's 'bonding ceremony'. From the concept art of the chocobos and the clothing, it looks as though it could be really interesting to watch.

Let me put it this way, I don't care for it right now. But at the same I didn't really care for Leviathan's theme when I first heard it either. It could grow on me if I end up hearing it a lot, really depends on how often the fight comes up in a roulette I guess. As for the lyrics, this is what I could hear...

Expansion Announced: Heavensward, releasing Spring 2015
Rythulian replied to Zyrusticae's topic in FFXIV News
Dragoon is already a bloated mess of a priority system. Monk is already tightly-bound by just-long-enough effects to keep debuffs running. Adding new buttons to those sets would throw the whole thing off or not even be used. Warrior already has two "rotations" they can use and adding extra buttons would be borderline bloaty whereas paladin could stand to have something other than 123repeat. Class balance is difficult, and it's not just about hotbars. In terms of Monk, yes it's based on timing and such so adding a new attacking/debuff ability would either throw things off or be pointless, but there's always the chance that they'll be given a self-buff or something instead. Adding new buttons doesn't necessarily have to lead to everything being thrown out the window and reworked from the ground up. -
Okay, this is a question that I have to ask. Were there/are there controller set-ups?

Literally the best news i've heard. Now if we could get an actual number/percentage for that drop rate at the London con....
-
It's not too late to catch up! I might well do that. Have to see if I can find a group that won't rage quit immediately.
-
I see that the Kraken from Hullbreaker is back. And that preview of the final coil makes me wish that i'd gotten into the raid content.

Honestly, the best way to hop into soldiery right now from your first fresh 50 is to either purchase an i70 weapon from the marketboard or get your relic quest done to pass the i50 requirement (make sure your accessories are i49 if at all possible), then hop into Crystal Tower (Labyrinth of Ancients). That currently gives you 200 myth a run and the zerg raid has enough folks in it that you'll more often than not be carried to victory regardless of how horrid your alliances are (screw you, Atomos mechanic). That also nets you i80 gear while you build the myth for i90. Partway through gearing up through CT, you can hop into Hard Mode dungeons and start nabbing soldiery (along with more i70 and i80 pieces which will include accessories). Once you're in full myth/i90, you can start decking out in soldiery via Expert Roulette. Not going to deny that LoA is a decent way to grind myth but have you been in there recently? I hit it up on my Odin character a little while ago after I started to run low on Myth and it was literally full of people messing up on purpose. Been a long while since i've seen everyone wipe three times before getting to the first boss... And i'm well aware that the hard mode dungeons and things are ideal ways to gear up. Like I said in my first post in this thread, i've just fallen behind on that character because i've been focusing on a different one. I'm not completely clueless on the methods to actually get what I need.
-
On the contrary, now is a good time to let it idle since those are all about to unlock anyway. As long as you're "good enough" in the sense that you can flag the new dungeons without issue, you'll be fine to move up to the next currency / patch holes with soldiery once 2.4 lands. As I said, i'm behind in myth right now. I've barely done any of the level 50 dungeons simply because I can't consistently hold aggro when running with over-geared players. Can't really obtain soldiery/whatever the new one might be if I can't run the dungeons to get it.
-
Guess I really need to get a move on with gearing up on the Balmung server. I've been so busy focusing on getting my Odin DPS to 50 before ninja hits that i'm still behind in obtaining myth gear for Fohcswys, let alone soldiery.
-
Going to be honest, Fohcswys will probably go out in the least impressive way possible. It'll either be from food poisoning, because eating spoiled food for an extended period of time isn't exactly smart. Or she'll slip down a set of stairs, let's face it wet wooden steps aren't exactly known for their traction.

Something about your character few know...
Rythulian replied to Erik Mynhier's topic in Character Workshop
Fohcswys has a fair amount of trouble with her memory. That includes having difficulty with remembering the details of any given day after it's passed. And recalling the appearance/name of anyone that isn't a constant in her life. -
Technically Fohcswys owns a chocobo although she's half terrified of it. Why did she get one in the first place then? Because everyone said it was a smart idea...she really didn't take into account how big a Roe sized chocobo would be. It's a pretty one-sided relationship, she's more likely to run from it than ride it and the giant bird thinks it's a fun game of 'chase'. Aside from that she owns a tiny rat affectionately called 'Squeak'. Genius, I know. It followed her off of ship one day and has stayed with her ever since.

Can't say that i'm overly excited about the update. Not looking forward to the huge wave of DPS. I might not play that role on Balmung but I like switching it up on Odin. Well, I liked switching it up at any rate, probably not going to bother once rogue/ninja hits. Not overly interested in the Sunken Temple HM. The normal dungeon was kind of 'meh' for me, going back doesn't really spike my interest. The story and it's relevant dungeon might be interesting but, have to wait and see. I've only just caught up with the story on this alt and the last update wasn't as good as I thought it was... I think the only thing that's really caught my eye is the Sastasha HM. And that's mainly for the sake of squid-pirates.

I'm just going to pull this part up for citation. It just seems like a really weird thing to make assumptions over especially when there are people on the larger servers from a variety of different timezones. Not to mention, RPers actually playing the game to take a break from writing? Colour me surprised. Also that wording on the last line, just makes it sound as though you've tried to get people who aren't interested in RPing to try to do it.

Does your character have any unfair Bias or Discrimination?
Rythulian replied to Kage's topic in Character Workshop
Anyone in law enforcement. Seriously though, Fohcswys has a bit of a bias against any Lalafell that isn't a mage of some description. Specifically that. Archers are a bit hit or miss. And it's not a end all seething loathing it's more of a 'I'd really rather not' sort of reaction. There's no logical reason for it. It's entirely born of the irrational idea that a lalafell with a sword/lance/axe/'fists' is the perfect height to swing at kneecaps. -
Would you take an anime-esque character seriously?
Rythulian replied to Lyriell's topic in RP Discussion
The least upheld rule in the game. And by 'least' I really mean 'not upheld at all'.
