Wind-up Kal Numara A MUCH smaller version of a rather strange "pirate". The thing's tangled mess of curly hair is nearly as big as it's body. Lore: No-one's quite sure who commisioned this minion but it's thought to be the one it's modelled after. Keep an eye on your booze and don't try to comb or brush out her hair, it'll just make it worse. Comes with several random outfits, most of which are common of Lominsans, and may occasionally be seen with glasses or a bandana Behavior: Independent May randomly start fights or flirt with other humanoid minions. May flirt with random passerbies, especially Roegadyn or Highlanders May attempt to pet Miqo'te minions. May steal and hide your booze or random objects as a prank. Will ride on her summoner's shoulders... sometimes. She may throw little stones or nuts at nearby people or minions if summoner is idle too long. Will play with animal minions. Will attempt to assist in battle by "shooting" at targets with either a bow or gun. May cuddle up to other minions or the summoner. ---------------------------------- Wind-up Dheina Tayuun A very tiny minion of an already tiny moonkeeper miqo'te conjurer. Lore: A very timid little moonkeeper, she requires quite a bit of attention and care, but will gladly bring you flowers and tiny crystals or help you care for your chocobo. Behavior: Independent Attempts to fight enemies you are fighting by Mostly sticks close to you or will sit on your shoulder. Occasionally will run off and return with an armful of flowers or useless shiny objects. Attempts to fight enemies you are fighting. At range she will "cast" spells, and with melee fighters she will try to hit the target with her staff, stab their ankles with daggers, or run around in a panic. May try to distract the target with showy magic if summoner has the target's threat focus Will hide behind your legs and possibly cry if nearby players or npcs shout or yell. Will stare at you if you are cooking or eat anything. Will follow your chocobo when summoned. Will get excited and "feed" or play with chocobo minions ---------------------------------- Wind-up Sam Redsteele Whatever the original purpose of this automaton was, it doesn't seem to do much. At least you have some company on your adventures. Lore: We're not sure who created these automatons or even why, as there doesn't seem to really be anything special about them or the person they're modelled after. Behavior: Obedient Will sit on your shoulder when beckoned. Occasionally seen playing with tiny fireballs or flipping around a dagger while idling. Will "help" with harvesting from botany nodes. ---------------------------------- Wind-up Armimi Armi This Automaton doesn't seem to have much interest in being here. Lore: This rather serious lady seems far more interested in her studies and alchemy experiments than anything you're doing most of the time. Behavior: Independent Will pull out a tome of some sort to read from whenever idling. Occasionally wanders off to examine random objects or nearby minions. Attempts to fight enemies you are fighting by stabbing the target or "casting" fireballs or little bolts of lightning. Will watch the player while crafting for alchemy. ---------------------------------- Wind-up Cardea Moriliin Unlike the real thing, this one is far less likely to try to kill you. Lore: Commissioned by the woman herself, it is a surprisingly loyal companion that will fight by your side or help with dispatching a rival by slipping something in their drink or helping with a distraction. Take care to avoid offending the thing though or you may find yourself on the other end... or at least missing most your gil and your automaton Behavior: Obedient Prefers to sit on your shoulder rather than walking. Pouts when made to walk On occassion, will flirt with other humanoid or beast tribe minions. May attempt to "kill" them at random. Will disappear if attempt fails and needs to be resummoned. "Steals" coins from other players (They won't actually lose anything) Will spare with other puglists, monks, and rogue, or ninja type minions ---------------------------------- Wind-up Samhain Whoever agreed to help create this mini-version of this woman must hate society Lore: Commissioned by it's namesake to an unknown goldsmith, these automata can wreck havoc if not carefully monitored while out. Keep any real blades out of reach. Behavior: Independent Will attack other minions without warning, especially if male. If you idle for more than 30 minutes or afks, it will attack your feet with with it's toy axe. Will attack the feet of nearby afk players

So I havn't gotten that far in the ninja/rogue stuff but I figured if I ever actually get to it, Kal will be that kind of shit to use Refuge in Audacity and Sarcastic Confession. Which is basically, character deliberately tells the truth in a way which won't be believed by acting so frickin weird and outrageous, and admit to shit you're doing in a way that people write you off as just an attention seeker or just crazy. Seriously it works really well and I've used to often enough with the WoW version of her and people just roll their eyes like "Yeah ok lady, go drink your juice". She's actually very good at convincing people not to take her seriously and then suddenly they've got a dagger through their spine or something. She's a "pirate" so not that weird for her to be carrying daggers either. Armimi and Sam are a lot more secretive over it and just use other means of fighting.... Funny enough both are thaumaturges, though that wasn't on purpose. Armi just is because she's also got a strong interest in Alchemy so she's in Uldah a lot and hey why not study that too. Nobody is really going to question her much anyways if she's carrying around daggers either because uldah. Plus the pugs are there and learning from them can help as well. Sam does thaumaturgy because magic is easy enough to deal with for basic stuff and says they're mainly just a botanist that collects and sells plants for others an they protect themselves with basic thaumaturgy and so on. Sam is one to try to blend in more and look "average" as well so people tend not to pay much attention to them most the time. If I ever come up with a realistic reason for Dheina getting in to it, since she's not really one for any other combat class due to tiny and pretty weak (Since you don't really have to necessarily be big and strong to take someone out with a little blade, but she is supposed to be really fast... mainly to run away hurrhurrhurr), she's a conjurerer from Bentbranch that doesn't like hurting people. Like anyone will believe her being some kind of skilled ninja. If she got in to it she'd be very good at it and all, even if she'd only really do it if she needed to because she'd rather help people with healing and magic, but if needed she'd be happy enough too to be able to fight with something other than teeth and claws if she ran out of magic Now the whole be loud and obvious about it so people don't take you seriously in one thing, but it's also kinda hard to pull off and most people actually don't do that so much as bragging about it to be serious and be intimidating. Difference between "Don't mess with me I'm a ninja and can fuck you up >:I" and "Pfffft ahaha yeah Imma ninja a'right. I'm absolutely fuckin' amazing at it too wit' my yellin', towerin' size an' beautiful massive muscles, an' gian' mess of red hair, an' slamming shit around. Fuck yeah I'm tha best ninja ever! What are ya fuckin' stupid? I'm a pir... er, privateer, nah one o' them sneaky shits. The shit outta 'ere afore I kick ya in the face" And really part of the whole rogue/nin thing is misdirection, and being a giant body-builder looking highlander/roe with a cloud of red hair that's always flirting with people and making a ton of noise in a bar or just about anywhere she goes (when not working) is definitely one way to throw people off that because surely ninjas just try to blend in as much as possible and try to avoid attention instead of drawing it, right? Sure she may punch you in the face but not like you'll suddenly get a dagger through your neck without warning, right?

"Witty" characters, can they be roleplayed by the dumb?
Kalooeh replied to LadyRochester's topic in RP Discussion
I try to avoid rping most things that I don't have at least a general knowledge about to start with (so I know what to google to keep bookmarked/in document files for later if needed) and can bullshit easily enough, or try to avoid it. I'm one of those people who tend to have a general knowledge about a lot of things, and I tend to info binge A LOT, but I also tend to forget a lot of things I researched so then I need to re-research the details for the thing that I remember reading about that one time for things that is being talked about now. So I know I know the things, or know OF things, but I forgot details because I havn't been using the information so it's just kind of filed away somewhere in my brain. It's there..... somewhere (I do the same thing with paper files and word/notepad files too. I know I got the info! Just where I'm not sure :Ia Now if only I could do a key word search in my brain like you can a computer) Though I admit too that a lot of stuff that I'd be "hurrdurr?" about irl or be slow to come up with something witty, I do manage to pull off well enough when messing around on certain characters and then I'm like "Dude what? Where that come from? Why don't I do that normally? I would be awesome" -
Hmmmm For Kal one (all?) .... I got a bunch of others on her playlist, but eh Dheina..... ok most of the music on her playlist is without lyrics (admittedly because music box versions for a lot of them or zelda music... Granted a lot of Zelda music [mainly from windwaker] for Kal too but ssssshhh. I got other stuff) :I Yeah gonna have to steal zelda music/themes but all I got right now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xS5cPxTpsng Other characters not sure yet :Ia Besides Twin Rova but ignoring that I'll have to come back later because for now sleep because work D;

Well at first she'd be that quiet shy new girl that tended to keep to herself and not really draw much attention (even going so far as to straighten her hair and keep it dyed brown, as it'd draw far less attention than a bush of red curls that never really want to cooperate), but was friendly enough... unless someone was being a bully and then she'd fly in and punch someone in the face. She'd do well enough in classes, or at least on tests even if it seemed like she wasn't paying much attention in class or sleeping, but be really bad at getting homework done and like halfway through a semester just stop bothering with it. Over time she'd start to be more comfortable with people and give less of a shit if people like her or not. She'd even stop dying and brushing out her hair. Eventually even being brash, loud, and flirty, even if she's feeling insecure and shy because hey, fake it until you make it. Still be friendly. Would eventually stop caring about classes in general unless it was a subject she had an interest in and then she may even be assed to do homework enough to maintain a good grade. She'd skip class a lot though for subjects she found boring or hated. Mostly she'd do well in gym/sports and even take weight lifting. By the end she'd be like a mix of the school tease and a lowkey friendly jockey type that'd likely get along with everyone unless you were an outright ass to other people around and then she'd fly in and punch you in the face or bully you. She's probably pick on the snotty snobs and nerds as well just for fun and "hell they're assholes anyways so it's karma or whatever". Dheina would be in special ed and have a lot of difficulty with classes (especially because of her dyslexia), even though she'd try as hard as she could... Even besides the dificulty reading she's not stupid, but she's not too smart either... she's just.... slow. She'd be excited whenever she managed to do well on tests and probably talk someone's ear off about something she learned and found neat. She's also one of those people that are obsessed with cute, pink, glittery, and flowery things, but also be kind of childish and sensitive. She's not like the type of cutesy-obsessed person that's grossed out easily by dirty things or bugs or anything like that and actually a lot of things that "girly" types are stereotypically thought of as hating or being afraid of doesnt bother her at all unless it's something that can actually be dangerous... she would be upset though if something pretty of hers ended up ruined. She'd very likely end up being a target for bullies just because crybaby "precious cinnamon roll", or she could come across as being similar to the annoying little sister type of person. That and often enough she'd smell like a farm (which personally I don't mind and can enjoy, but I also grew up in an area with a lot of farms with cows, horses, and chickens), whenever she didn't smell like she rolled around in a flowerpatch. Would thive in botany and health/care-related classes, but would hate sex ed. Probably do pretty badly in gym except for anything gymnastics or swimming related, even if she fell on her face a lot and mostly just wanted to paddle around in the water because she likes being in it. Would be amazing at dodgeball and track just because of how flexible and fast she was, but unless there was someone else with her at the end of the game throwing balls back at the other team she'd likely eventually lose just from being ganged up on (and oh god, those versions where the winning team gets to move closer and closer over time), or the teacher would just have to call it because it's taking forever and it's clear she's not really going to throw anything back and is just going to run away/dodge so the other team may as well just be called the winners. Throwing arm is horrible. Baseball she'd just strike out all the time because "oh no painfully hard thing being thrown at me don't hurt me D;" and just cringe anytime someone pitched or the thing came flying at her when out in the field. Sam wouldn't really be too noticeable at first. Mostly blends in even after more people got to know them. They'd get along well enough with most people but doesn't make much of an effort with making friends either. Any friends they'd have just kind of happened and they're ok with it, though they'd probably not do much with most of them outside of school. Decent enough grades for most subjects but just be about average due to sometimes just forgetting to do homework often enough, but what they did turn in plus doing well on tests would be enough at least to keep from failing or getting D's... most times. Pretty lowkey and friendly enough overall, but would have issues with teachers often enough too if they didn't agree with a view of theirs or felt something with a subject was wrong. Questions authority too much to just go along with anything they said and would get pissed off about those types of teachers that have the attitude of "I don't care if I'm wrong I'm the teacher and in charge, don't question me". Gets mad at those in power who are unfair or abuse their positions. Bullies would also quickly learn not to mess with them because even if they were chill enough with most their peergroup they have a short fuse as well and has little problem with physically fighting back, and fighting dirty. Interest in various martial arts and taking lessons just adds to the ass kicking. Wouldn't be one to really start fights with people but sure as hell not shy about slamming someone's head into the floor if they started shit with them or others around them that were being bullied. Very opinionated but mostly just sighs and silently fumes over people being stupid or saying stupid things.... mostly. Armimi is a goddamn nerd and strive to get A's and get annoyed about any B's. She's the type to even try to find ways to bring her grades up if they're "falling behind" or harass the teacher about redoing an assignment to try to get a better grade. Would love science classes in general and do decently enough in gym despite being short and kind of chubby/stocky, but would try to get out of gym whenever she could, especially for shit like basketball or volleyball.... or really anything that'd involve things flying at her... or a lot of running. Wouldn't have much interest in making friends, just in learning science shit. If she made fellow science nerd friends then cool someone to geek out with, but otherwise eh all good on her own or at home buried in books or a little makeshift lab or greenhouse. Would be surprisingly strong for being a short little nerd and would probably get in trouble more than once for getting in fights for people starting shit with her. Cardea is that weird effeminate boy that openly wore heels, skinny jeans, and showy/feminine clothes that purposely would likely make people uncomfortable while still managing to be "school appropriate" and give no shits if people had issues with him. Probably get picked on by the other boys but wouldn't be afraid to stab a bitch and eventually people would probably be terrified of him because good god is he a creepy twisted little shit that will probably find a way to poison you or get you put in the hospital because they stabbed you in the kidney and somehow managed to make it look like an accident. Be somewhat of a kiss ass to teachers and act like yeah he's a strange one but sensitive and "harmless", but even for them would try to find sneaky ways to screw them over if they pissed him off. Friendly enough with peers people for the most part if they don't start shit with him, especially if they didn't have any issues with how he presented. Probably hang out sometimes with those mean "popular" preppy girls, but would take no shit from them either and probably be "top bitch". Would absolutely love girls like Dheina and be protective of them. Any friend he'd manage to make would have an amazing ally that will fuck up someone for them in a sneaky underhanded way and make it look like an accident or manage to get away with it just because they likely couldn't prove it was them and they may play in to discrimination because of how he liked to dress. Later on as they where nearly done with school would start actively transitioning to look more female and want people to use female pronouns instead, though would likely not have surgery until later because "Well don't particularly have an issue with my bits... course not really attached to it either. Suppose I'll figure it out later. But hey, check out my amazing tits. Sweet right? It's ok to be a bit jealous" Samhain would be that problematic wild child punk girl that was always starting fights (especially with boys) and causing problems in class if she was bored. Would have way too much fun bullying people. Loves Halloween just a little too much and her malicious pranks would just increase tenfold because "hey it's the season, suck it up you fuckin' babies. You wanna go? I will beat your face in with a pipe. Yeah didn't think so" She'd be particularly brutal in fights and no problems cracking heads of breaking arms. Most likely would end up juvie or expelled. Later in life, granted she wasn't in jail for killing someone or seriously messing them up, would end up in some kind of career that allowed her to fight others and get paid to fuck people up. If not some kind of sport than something illegal. Friends? Probably not unless it was with other asshole delinquent types. Not those gangster wannabe badasses. She doesn't have patience for those people and makes a point to beat the shit out of them because oh they wanna be hardcore but they run away from fights and just a bunch of shits that wanna seem tough but can't actually handle shit. If she's being friendly to someone she usually wouldn't be she probably just wants something. Unfortunately hard to avoid giving her what she wants unless one didn't care if they got beaten up or have a friend than can back them up so she backs up. She doesn't mess with the other kids that she knows can fight back well enough, but if drawn in to a fight with them she wouldn't be afraid of trying to kill them by stabbing the shit out of them either if she can't get them to back off or they prove to be capable of doing a good amount of harm to her. She may try to avoid a physical confrontation if she can get away with leaving without looking weak to prevent harm to herself, but then plot ways she may be able to take out the threat. If her and Kal went to school together there'd be frequent fights and Samhain would probably try to avoid Kal if she could because Kal can be just as brutal with her fighting as Samhain, but has far more physical strength behind her hits. Samh would be more than happy to work with Kal in a gang or even work for her because she respects her strength and brutality when fighting, but Kal would much rather put herself between bullies and others, especially since she can defend herself and she finds it a "good" way to channel her violence and more questionable traits (Think of Kal being like Dexter. Can be a pretty nasty person themselves but goes after other nasty people to "make it acceptable".)

I'll admit this made me laugh mainly because in my head I could just hear Dheina shrieking and throwing a tantrum. There's the whole thing with the elementals and having to be careful not to piss them off or they could go after everyone nearby and wipe out towns/cities, and the whole Calamity thing didn't help at all with their stability. Also the issue with how strict natives tend to be even over smaller things because holy shit what if this pisses off the elements SHUUUUUNNNEED (as shown with that one quest for this kid being shunned years ago because he stole some seeds or flowers or something to give to his sister because they were her favorite. Managed to survive and then steals shit from other people to give to his sister because he really cares for her even then, even if she has no clue who he is. Personally the quest broke my heart because holy shit harsh punishment for some kid stealing just some seeds for his sister. There's some real terror the locals have to go through to end up being that harsh about minor things because they're that afraid of the elementals and that they may get pissed off at something small like that, that one person (esp a kid) did and decide to take them all out. I did a lot of research for Dheina as she's supposed to be from the Twelveswoods, and while I'm sure there's A LOT I don't know about what's going on I got the general idea of what natives would go through and while yeah I get annoyed at how they act with outsiders and even each other, and a lot of my non-natives get kind of pissy or even play pranks on natives to mess with them as a "Fuckin' shit pull the tree out of your ass and relax", I still understand why they're like that. The Twelveswood is harsh man, nevermind the birdmen and poachers. That's just like scratching the surface of the problems. And oh man, I know Dheina's not very threatening being the itty bitty skitty kitty that's obsessed with pink things and flowers, but she has attacked people before (mostly verbally) for something that wouldn't seem like that big of a deal to most people, but being a native, especially a very skittish panicky one, she freaks out and fears that it may bring down the wrath of the forest on everyone. Going in to Conjury didn't really help her either with the whole "maintain the balance and don't anger the elements" thing. It really is a personal thing, but half the time I noticed the lack of interest tends to come from not paying a whole of attention to a thing in general because the overall theme to it didn't strike a cord with someone personally.... Like the whole thing with Limsa and focusing on hurrdurr pirates and cutthroats hell yeah badassery and oh no the rogues guild ruined it because honor among thieves? Boring (Where Kal would disagree and more than happy to kick another Lominan's face in if they cross certain lines. She's very big on at least crew unity and common goals/wellbeing and has seen what kind of troubles can happen just on the smaller scale of a ships's crew. She applies the view to the larger scale of the city and nation and she's find with people doing shit for personal gain, as long as it's not being harmful to the "crew" overall. Mainly because it's a view of "We got enough shit to deal with from outside threats and yer turnin' yer swords on yer people instead of yer canons against our enemies. A crew without unity is no crew at all, but jus' a mass of drowned men! I ain't got no problems cuttin' yer throat if yer jus' gonna add to the problems we already 'ave. Ya ain't gotta like everyone 'ere but in all our interests not ta be completely fuckin' over each other. Ya could easily enough be fuckin' over the other fucks from other cities that flock in fer trade") (Also horray for Merlwyb's speech)

I absolutely love the idea of rping in other places besides Uldah and usually try to, especially because of my "pirate". I love Gridania too, and be interesting for more interaction with people native around there. Most my characters tend to dislike Uldah in general mainly because of the heat, but because of economy there (granted none are really merchants) I know that Limsa has an issue though with all that goddamn water and it's graphics can really screw with fps and I always have issues in the city... especially around the market or when there's a large group of people. The markets or large groups in other areas I don't have any issues with. Course saving for a new computer since last one more or less died and new one should be a lot better, BUT I know from experience that some areas can be harder for some people so makes sense it may be avoided. Also there's that little issue with the kidnappings around Limsa and that may put off some people that arn't natives and used to it *cough* But also for the Uldah scene being the most popular I think it's also in part because you more or less spend a good chunk of your time at lower level around that area. It's where you're likely to have picked up rp and made friends or joined fcs and it becomes familiar and people are either going to stay around there most the time because of familiarity or they're going to get bored because it's TOO familiar and they need something different, especially after all the time spent around the area when starting the game/a new character. I'll admit too I do tend to spend a fair amount in Uldah despite how much some of my main characters dislike it, mainly because familiar and where I started out and people I first met there tend to hang around the area too so most people I know are around there most times. But I also get bored easily (which fuels my altoholic issues, but another story) so I tend to hop around often enough too for areas to hang out in and rp. Can be stressful trying to start rp with new people sometimes, but hey had to start out fresh when I started too and I may find something/someone else new that's really interesting. Wooohoo anxiety issues, but my wanderlust/boredom/curiousity tends to override it often enough it's not TOO much an issue

"Ugh I need to update my character's Wiki"
Kalooeh replied to Berrod Armstrong's topic in RP Discussion
Actually you just reminded me that I should work on that :I Even if I havn't gotten to rp for awhile still got art and new ideas or changes to old shit I need to add.... That and half the characters don't have anything. Ahaha -
I'll admit I tend to avoid the more showy things with Kal when it comes to knife-fighting. Because with her personality it's "Nah waste of energy and I'm too damn big for that shit. Fuck it just gonna stab 'em and get it over with", plus she's somewhat of a powerhouse and has the strength to be able to block attacks pretty well from most people, do damage while blocking and maybe even break a limb, and deal some brutal hits. She can take a fair amount of damage herself too even if she isn't in a "tanky" profession and prefers to fight at range Her being "showy" would be something like this Sam would probably be a bit more "showy" and deal more with dodging than just trying to block and stab. Dheina would definitely be one of those that would "dance" around more and be one to dance in and out to get a hit in and get away from the person to avoid a counter. Dhei's probably my weakest physically and even if she gets someone in a vital point there's still the chance they could do a lot of damage to her (especially because adrenaline is a hell of a thing and a knife wound, even to a vital area, may not stop a person right away. Especially if they're used to fighting and pain) , but she's fast so she'd use that as much as she could. She's also the most timid out of my knife users and may want to avoid hurting the person as much as she can and maybe just try to disable them to help someone else escape or to escape from the situation herself. and Armi would probably show off the most as she stabbed the shit out of someone
-
Basically it's a general idea for the character, sometimes just from screwing around with a character creator, as well as going through lore info (if I can find anything. Or sometimes I just get an idea from reading through lore) and then derp around on them until I get more of a feel for them and they start to develop and more or less take on a life of their own. Like we'll take Dheina for instance, since what I remember the most for that. Started off as wanting to make a troll because all the current rp friends at the time had taken up trolls (warcraft) and I was being left out of rp because they were mostly in troll/troll only areas and mostly just rping with other trolls. So I start reading on lore and come up with basic looks for Dei'fon and where she'd come from and so on. And then just worked on leveling her and as I went on for whatever reason certain traits started sticking with what felt right for what'd work and eventually she was fleshed out as this skittish skinny troll that's somewhat obsessive and protective about food, cries easy, is a bit slow in the head, has a weird obsession with pink and pretty things, and can be kind of bossy/loud when she'd feeling braver/is angry about something. And coming over to FF there was a bit of an overhaul with her because would be far different experiences in background while growing up, but kept her key personality points and just been adapted to here. Like FF Dhei hates hurting people and fighting and is more just a healer type, and is a lot more soft hearted. Her view of cannibalism is a lot more passive than Dei's, as cannibalism for trolls is a LOT more common. She still isn't disgusted by it, and would be fine enough with eating anything, but she'd be upset if someone else was actively hunting other people to kill and eat (unless the victim was a horrible/mean person. Then her attitude is "GOOD! They were mean and now they can't be mean to people anymore! D:< I will eat them too!" Whereas troll her doesn't really have any issues with it as long as someone's not trying to eat her or people she likes. She also commonly enough hunts people (Mainly gnomes or other "Alliance" races) to eat because normal enough and just another meat. Dei'fon is also a druid, and while she trains mostly for healing, she knows more offensive magic and shape-shifts and is bolder with fighting because while she tends to run away if she can, she will also fight for survival reasons and is a lot more familiar with death and killing than Dheina. And for Kal, she started out a semi-self insert all those many years ago (Seriously like near 10 already? Shit), but I quickly enough got bored with it and ended up horde-side with a loud-mouth brat tauren and after worgen/human hunters came out I ended up picking up Kal again and redoing her background and personality and over the years she evolved as well from being kinda quiet/reserved/shy and temperamental to being the loud, aggressive-but-friendly brat she is today And other alts always started out kind of awkwardly too or were meant as something that wasn't planning on really having as an actual character because just was mainly bored and wanted to derp around on a new class, ended up in random casual rp with people who'd initiate something (and if I'm not doing something like for a quest or crafting I'll play along instead of being the killjoy and can be a fun way to keep entertained) and end up developing them as an actual character. Other times it's because friends wanted to make new characters and level together with someone and rp with them but eventually lost interest but I liked how the character had developed so kept them. Oh yeah and sometimes a character was made to kind of explore a specific concept/trait or something and researching the related subject helps with fleshing them out and drawing somewhat on my own experiences and expanding on my own experiences and traits. Ignore Twin Rova. She's my lololol zelda derp character and I've done shitall with her so far :I She's still in the awkward phase, if I even decide to do anything serious with her
-
Ah, thanks. This is helpful. I usually use http://www.behindthename.com/ for coming up with names for characters.
-
I actually have 3 mains (and more alts) But Highlander, Midlander, and a Keeper And then the rest in my sig are ones I don't play nearly as often
-
Shirts? Psssh. Highlanders don't need no shirts! Shirts are for the weak! Down with shirts!
-
Kal would be like "Ok what the F happened to me and how the shit did I end up a pirate. Did I take something, because holy shit I am huge?! I'm marrying a cat? Excuse me, what it going on here?" Dheina she would be surprised/amazed that" wow, out adventuring! I get so brave!", but otherwise not too surprised about how her future self is/looks Sam would probably be confused and terrified because future them has no clue who they used to be and wonder wtf happened to get like that (Assuming they also don't know about what happens with the calamity) Armi wouldn't really be surprised how she turned out Cardea would be like "Fuck yeah I'm a hot woman, take that you shits" and go around flipping people off in their faces Samhain wouldn't really care much either way but may be a bit disappointed her muscles arn't bigger Twin Rova wouldn't really be surprised either really

I suppose culinary since yeah it'll have a wider interest range. I do have a couple characters that would be interested in the Conjury though. One because she is a conjurer and would want to see what else she could learn, and another who isn't a conjurer, but would go see about learning something about it without harassing anyone in Gridania. Mostly it would depend on in if the Conjury lesson is more like a hands on thing that will likely apply more to people who actually do conjury, or if it's a general ed thing that anyone could come in and learn about things, whether they can do conjury or not.

That and it's a sliding scale to go off based on levels. Of course food in areas for higher leveled people is going to be more expensive because by a certain level it's somewhat expected for you to have at least a certain amount of money, and far more than as a lower level... unless you're really bad with it and blow it all right away on immediate armor upgrades all the time... esp from the ah. It's not necessarily economic based (which can be explained from amount of resources available to just being in a rich area), but just scaled game mechanics.

Gridanians probably marry more 'freely' between whatever there are for social classes, and probably at a younger age (all that forest for a young couple to go 'walking' in, so best to get the girls married before any potential baby bumps start to show), and is probably the more proverbial country-folk type weddings. Limsa... probably has a very loose definition of what marriage is. Lonely wives, horny sailors, with quite a few cases of 'a woman (or man) in every port', so a lot of give-and-take with the concept to keep people happy. Or either has a very low marriage rate or a very high divorce rate. The weddings are probably a case of a captain shows up, the couple says their versions of "I do's", and then the drunken party starts. Ul'dah... marrying outside your class (AKA 'who you can afford') probably isn't that common. The poor marry the poor, the working class marries the working class, merchants and artisans marry merchants and artisans, and the upper class marry the upper class. And among the merchants/artisans and the upper class, I'd imagine there's some manner of arraignment in the process. The son of a, say, cooper (barrel maker) who's being set up to inherit the family business might be shown more favor and given more encouragement by a vicar/wine distributor who has a daughter of marrying age because (in theory) the vicar might be able to get a discount/form a partnership to get the barrels he needs cheaper from his new son-in-law. Salt wives are a thing in Limsa. There was an npc there asking someone to be one. Course not the same thing as in Game of Thrones with the ironborn Can still take it as a thing that they're like a more serious couple than just bf/gf gf/gf bf/bf type of thing, but they're not like officially married/bonded. Really makes sense too for a bunch of "ex" pirates and how their society is set up. Even with official bondings wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot of extra couples on the side either for fun or in poly amorous situations For Ul'dah (or more specifically the Dunes Lala) I'd imagine it's not all entirely about just their status so much as what the person is looking for. Someone could be looking for a type of partnership more than love; a trophy spouse; or meet someone who has actually pretty good ideas for making money and a good sense for business, but may not have a lot of actual opportunity to do anything with it because of their position but getting married to someone with the money to make it happen and not only make money themselves but help the other person make more money could also be a thing. I admit I always kind of view the Dunes/Ul'dah lala like the goblins from Warcraft. It's not so much just about position as is money or potential for money. And sometimes probably just about looks because the person has a lot of money coming in and all good and just want some pretty/handsome thing on their arm to show off (and opposite of that is those that are more prudent about it and because beauty fades, they go for the person's mind more). Course Goblins are crazy and more likely to get in to random relationships for thrills too than what lalafells would seem to do, but not the point there.

I never understood tumblr's issues with the rpc. I keep seeing people talk about how bad the community here is and I havn't seen any issues? Granted I mostly hang out in the RP Discussion, Character Development, and Balmung events/directory (Mainly just reading people's stuff). But it's pretty much looking like it's people starting stupid shit on tumblr over stupid things more than there being any actual major issues here. Either way a big problem here is the hive mind issue people tend to get where they hear someone is a problem from someone else, in a very public place (like tumblr), and people take it and run with it. Often enough talking about problematic people is helpful for people like me who want to avoid certain types because of issues in the past, but often enough too I see people making claims about someone not actually all that bad, but because the people following them are friends/followers they will believe whatever the person says and often enough go on a witchhunt too I have made a few friends now that are worried about others attacking me for publicly rping with them or mentioning their characters names in my stories, rp logs, wikis, etc, because someone said something about them or posted something out of context to make them look really bad, and because friends want to support friends or people want to support the people they are following and like, shit gets blown up and jerkasses start attacking people.

Honestly I would have loved it if they had made it so the females were huge and scary or plain, and the men were tiny and colorful/pretty I mean shit it happens enough in nature Even if one subrace of them was huge men/tiny women, and the other side was huge women/tiny men Would have made it a lot more interesting to me. I don't have an issue with Dimorphism because it's actually pretty common and for the most part SE has done pretty well with avoiding that kind of thing, but also I'd kind of prefer people do be more creative with it too than the usual Big muscley male, tiny feminine female thing too

Reminds me of an issue for Trolls in wow for kissing A lot of people just went with the females may kiss or do something else for affection depending on size of their tusks, but the males go with rubbing tusks against other troll's tusks or cheeks or something. Could maybe do that kind of thing too but with their horns. Both the males and females have big enough horns so rubbing horns to show affection could be a thing Would make an interesting interaction with cross-race relations too?

Hmmm... Kal's would be First Aid Kit - Consists of needles, thread, alcohol (One for drinking, one for sterilizing), honey, and basic bandages Couple of daggers Usually a container or two full of some kind of rum Extra clothes Gil Rope. A lot of rope. Tweezers Nail file Glasses case Couple of fish hooks and fishing wire Spool of twine A length of sturdy cloth big enough to be used as a hammock or blanket for her Some kind of simple emergency food provisions. Often includes a lot of jerky Random collection of things she may want to carry for whatever reason at random times. Sometimes can be fireworks, spices, crystals, hides. Just random shit that's not always in her bag. Usually extra weapons, job tools, or things she leaves in the room she rents or with a retainer, at her FC, or with a friend or boyfriend/girlfriend. What's usually in her pack depends on where she's planning on going that day. Sometimes she'll pack heavily and sometimes barely have much on her besides the needle and thread, some gil, and a couple daggers Dheina Assortment of medical supplies Elemental crystals Candy or dried/candied fruits A small stuffed chocobo toy A stuffed moogle toy Fishing hooks and wire Pocket knife Some kind of food that takes awhile to spoil but isn't exactly emergency rations either. Mostly dried fruits and fish. Number of random, sparkly or cute, and often times pink or orange trinkets A couple of boxes and bags for plants Robe Change of clothes/underwear A couple of coins that may buy her a room at an inn and a decent meal, but not much else. Gyshal greens Sam Basic first aid kit that's needles and thread, small thing of honey, and a couple of bandage wraps of various thickness and widths A worrying amount of daggers and poisons Usually a couple of various plants in bags to be used as poisons or for medicinal reasons Gil Journal and pen. Enchanted so looks blank to others Water A vial filled with something to purify water Flint and steel A couple of some kind of emergency rations/jerky. Usually just enough to last a day or two if stretched. Jerky will usually be snacked on and replaced often. Handful of sweets Armimi Largely carries things similar to Sam, (Minus flint and steel) but in addition to that Large amount of plants in labelled bags (Name of plant and uses if known at the time) A couple tomes relating to Thaumaturgy, Alchemy, or Herbology Couple of vials filled with random (but labelled) potions/elixers Journal (not enchanted, but her scribbling would likely be near impossible to decipher for others anyways) Extra scepters in case her main one breaks or is lost for whatever reason. Cardea Several types of lingerie in different styles Couple of changes of clothes (mostly showy/revealing) Pair of work clothes and shoes Fair amount of gil Makeup Two small daggers and a few vials of poisons Hunting knife Couple pairs of fist weapons -Sometimes - Some kind of first aid kit if she's leaving whatever major city she's in (Usually Uldah) Food and water, usually things that won't keep for a long time. Usually planned for however long a trip may take plus an extra day or two. Samhain Mostly weapons Some potions A couple bandages Decent enough amount of gil, but probably not enough that someone would want to try to rob her unless they were desperate enough to risk having a limb cleaved off. Sometimes fireworks or small explosives that can be thrown at people to either scare/distract them or cause some damage Change of clothes for when doesn't want to wear her armor and doesn't just wear whatever it is she has on under it at the time. Twin Rova Typical Alchemist/Thaumaturgy stuff Couple daggers or various lengths Poisons Magical items Gil And I dunno guess I gotta think on that more but probably whatever kind of stuff you'd expect Kotake and Koume/Twinrova from Zelda to have for inventory

Kal will likely go just because new place to explore and DRAGONS and stuff Dhei won't be getting anywhere near it because her cold tolerance is horrible and omg dragons and scary things D; ! Sam may end up there eventually for a job or maybe even curiousity, but as they tend to try to avoid being noticed most the time, going in to an area where outsiders arn't a normal thing and pretty much guaranteed to be noticed is not an ideal situation. They did meet someone who is Ishgardian though so they may eventually see about going up there to learn more about the place the friend is from. Armimi is very unlikely to go as she is short and does not want to deal with the snow. If it becomes necessary for some kind of research she may, but otherwise she's fine wandering around the old areas. Cardea may go eventually if her curiosity is peaked and she figures not much risk to her getting hurt or killed. Samhain will go if she hears about something cool and dangerous that she decides she wants, or just feels like challenging herself. Twin Rova will stay in the north and away from the cold thanks.

Kal- "She'll bang anything that moves and probably some things that don't. She'll get distracted by something new soon enough" Basically comments claiming she's just a mindless nympho, because she flirts a lot and will occasionally sleep with people she just met but had fun talking to. For her if it happens it does, but she has more fun teasing people than actually doing anything with them and unless she really likes the person or they seem like someone who'd turn sex in to a kind of circus act she mostly finds it boring. Dheina- "Don't be such a baby" And related comments about her being sensitive and emotional. Quite a few people get annoyed with her and her crying/panicking easily. She gets comments from people often enough about her being stupid. Sam is pretty much one of those that tends to try to fly under the radar of most people and isnt really used to much for social interaction. Usually they're quiet until they figure out the situation they're in, or they observe more than interact, so not really anything they'd be tired of hearing from people right now. Other ones havn't really played enough to get certain comments from people that would irritate the, or gotten a strong grasp on what people would probably think and say about them.
