lol I nearly forgot about the change thanks for the reminder. -
I agree people saying they got the answer to do things better, despite having zero experience in a field is an eye roll. Especially when the problem they see is a symptom of another problem. I mean an obvious solution that I see is probably only going to cause more problems elsewhere. Until I can see the whole picture and understand the entire organism of the issue then I probably won't come up with a proper solution.

I think dps fucking up mechanics has a lot to do with people being lazy, or not wanting to hurt their dps. So they ignore mechanics or expect someone else to do them. Though I guess I'm a little biased from dps who rush ahead to pull before the last enemy in a mob is dead to keep their dps up. -
Hey there, might need to roll an alt there to come say hi.

I'm going Devils advocate here. But I think there's a lot to consider other than you can't do it because it's illegal. For one unless you're running around shouting about it, a good majority of void related things probably aren't going to be identifiable by your everyday adventurer. Some of the lesser voidsent are used in celebration. Such as those floating bombs. This is only made more complex by the amount of creatures that have an identical appearance to creatures in Eorzea. (This could be attributed to game play re-skins and character rigging, but unless the developers actually state that they would look radically different from their Eorzean counterparts then we don't have any evidence they can be easily differentiated.) Next there is the fact that mages tend to be power-hungry and arrogant. That's why the black mages turned to voidsent right? They'd reached as far as they could go, so they turned to the void. That arrogance would make it really easy to believe that they could control that kind of power. Back to having knowledge of voidsent if a character has the ability to identify anything that is a voidsent to accuse another character of messing with the void, I'd say there's going to be some raised eyebrows of how that person has so much knowledge on voidsent. If something is so evil and illegal to the point even talking about it can get someone arrested. They'd have to immerse themselves in a lot of voidsent knowledge. Once again the thirst for knowledge would be an extremely tempting prospect. So I personally think that it is possible to do right. Which is honestly subject to personal opinion. I won't say don't do something cause I've never seen it done good, that's really not a good enough reason for me to say don't do it. Since it would essentially be me judging your rp capabilities without ever even seeing your rp. Like a lot of others here though I do feel the whole theme is over done, along with all the other welders of the power of darkness. I rp as a drk so I'm just cliché as the rest of them. But I still get tired of hanging out with other drks. I've probably been unlucky but it seems every drk I encounter has to bring that fact to attention. But despite this I'm not going to tell people no, the same way as I'm not going to tell someone no to rping any other cliché concept, like the orphaned street smart, master knife fighter, thief. If you have people who find your concept interesting and wanna rp with it go for it. Balmung has a rep of if we don't like a concept then we're going to Lynch someone until they have to name change. I'd rather not contribute to that stereotype further so I say if its what makes rp fun for you go for it.

That would be ideal, but I don't exactly have a ton of faith SE would do that. Especially since the transfer page says those that transfer onto a world will be asked to transfer to a different server if the population gets too high. But I digress cause that's getting off topic. Basically my point was that in addition to own houses they need to do something about the population, or else there will always be a deficit in housing. Though I do like the idea of housing being limited to one per account. Even though I'm sure it would make a lot of home owner rpers bent out of shape over it.
-
I think housing will always have this problem, at least on balmung. The server is becoming more and more populated. As shitty as it sounds SE really needs to fix the character transfer loophole. (According to the character transfer page people aren't supposed to be able to character transfer to servers closed to character creation.) I doubt it would do much to help the problem but I do feel they'll never be able to have enough housing if people are still able to flood the server.

The first run I ever did of sephirot ex was me and a friend was trying to clear Thordan Ex. Well she was getting time for her raid, suddenly she tells me that they needed a replacement off tank to go for their clear. Despite my protests she kept telling them not to let me leave. Finally they convinced me to go. I'm nearly hyperventilating due to panic from the fact I was filling in for probably the best tank I know, with this super hard core group. I somehow managed to survive the first two phases, but I didn't get very far into phase 3. Nearly swore off any sort of hard core raider content after that.

90% of the drk players when the class first came out. DPS who all picked it up without any real tanking experience, pretty sure that's why you can go into a dungeon pop a few cooldowns on pulls and the healer will be amazed. -

If I'm being lazy and it's making another party member having to work harder to pick up the slack as a result then that's a problem. If I'm doing 50% of the entire party's dps because someone's being lazy that's unacceptable. I'm pretty certain as a drk that I could call myself mediocre at best. Which means I shouldn't queue for Thordan at i115 and be at the top of the dps charts. I tend to ask myself whether the reason we made it through the dungeon is did I mitigate damage acceptably or did the healer carry my ass? I want to prove that drk can match up to the other tanks when I queue. I shouldn't be hearing things like "wow a drk that actually uses cooldowns." Really I'd rather have someone who's trying to learn than someone too lazy to give a damn. Especially if I have to pick up the slack of that person. But that's just me, some people just don't want to care. Though I feel it kind of ruins credibility in threads like this whenew someone vents but then half asses their way through dungeons. -
Hey there...I rolled a character on Jenova trying to find the rp community. Next time I'm on there I'll try and say hi.

Yes you will be fine, cause dungeons are designed to be more forgiving. But just because it's not required doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. Dungeons are the best place to get muscle memory down on your job. It gives you more wiggle room to watch the rest of your team and see how they're functioning. You got a big bag of tools no matter what your class is. Even if your not an end game raider there's no reason why you shouldn't be using them. Unless you go into a duty with the mindset you're going to half ass it cause it's only a dungeon. We cry when Bards don't sing but there's a huge list of abilities other jobs have that could fall into the same category that no one will ever touch cause breaking out of their rotation to use one ability will hurt their dps. I'm sure lots of people couldn't care less about how good they are in the dungeon. Which is all well and good, but if you don't at least try and learn ways to improve your performance then that's a problem. Sorry about the rant, I just had to listen to a friend rage how everyone else sucked in our dungeon, yet he was doing the bare minimum for his job and refuses to take any advice on how he can do better. -

Hey I'm interested in doing this, sounds like an interesting story opportunity and a chance to meet new people. -
I'd be super interested in this, if you get a linkshell started let me know.
-
I'd love to get an invite on this linkshell to meet rpers on other servers.

Was in a Ravana ex got him down to one percent, entire party wipes leaving me standing alone. I was hell bent on going down in a blaze of glory. I drop grit and pop living dead. Then pop every cool down I got and throw myself at the damn predicon. I somehow managed to do just enough dps in that amount of time to hit the killing blow right as the timer for walking dead expired. Ravana dies and immediately afterwards I fell to the floor in some sort of cliché berserker movie plot. -
I may do that...I'm crazy and made alts on a few servers in the hopes I can find rp and try to contribute to their communities so they can grow and hopefully make a small ripple in making ff rp more accessible for everyone. Though I doubt I can do much I figure every little bit helps.

Scholars do have a cleanse but it's on one of the fairies...I believe it's a full party cleanse on a cooldown. So you got to use control in order to use it when you need it. As for the pet hot bar on ps4. You got to go into character configuration and make sure the bar is enabled, then tap the r1 button to switch to the pet hot cross bar. At least that's what I do. I'm sure other people have other set ups they use. -
Well if you're on gilgamesh I got a character there, I'd love to log on for rp.

With how many weapon slots you have it seems like kind of a waste to not have a spare weapon. Never hurts to have different options to give yourself more utility. Unless you've filled your slots completely with dark knight swords... My point is having a class leveled but not packing a weapon feels more wasteful than using one slot to carry an extra weapon to switch if you have to. -

Had a ninja in lost city amdapor hm who wouldn't get out of bad, pulled things before the group was ready, wouldn't turn away from neuro squama so her clone was constantly facing me. Though the thing that really got me was when she pulled lion boss, running ahead of the group as soon as the last zombie dragon was killed. Cause she didn't want to lose her Huton. I thought about just letting her die and tell her, we'll looks like you lost Huton. But I thought better of it since I figured it would only hold up the rest of the group. Though the healer wasn't so kind, and simply stopped healing her. On the subject of ninjas I don't understand why they follow me whenever there is a mechanic that requires you to spread to avoid over lapping damage i.e. ramuh's thundershock. -
Balmung is pretty much impossible to get onto unless you transfer from another server. I managed to get on gilgamesh early morning a few months ago, not actually sure how it is now, though it seems extremely difficult to find any rp there. I've been exploring the other servers for rp just cause I'm curious what their communities are like, as well as maybe offering a bit of support to help theme grow. Though like I said probably your most sure fire bet for finding rp is eat the 18.00 and transfer to Balmung. (You can transfer 8 characters off one server at one time for those 18.00 though.)
