  1. Well if you're ever looking for more rp I've been playing a bit on gilgamesh, got an alt there and I hate that he's just collecting dust.
  2. Personal safety always comes first, evenot if you risk a lot to save a lot. If you're in a situation you're actively being hurt you get out. Sure if you haven't talked to them about it, then it might be worth talking to them. But if they fall back into old habits then it's best to leave. If you're telling yourself that you're changing them it's probably a chance that it's abusive. In order to help someone like that, it needs to be done by someone who doesn't have the emotional attachments those people feed off of. Obviously they don't see what they are doing is wrong. It's pretty rare that any abuser believes what they are doing is wrong. Which means there's a good chance they won't change if you try and fix it. Basically if you haven't talked to them and they refuse to see the problem or fall back into old habits tell them that you're done and move on don't even let them come crawling back.
  3. Basically Balmung is packed, character creation is pretty much forever locked from creating a character on it. So the only way to actually get a character on there is to create a character on a separate server then go to the mog station and pay 18.00 to send the characters you have there to Balmung. (Though I've had a few friends say that it's been locked for that at time to time.) But yeah hopefully some of these communities trying to build themselves on other servers take off to give people a few more options. I've rolled alts on a few of them to see if I can find the rp and contribute to their effort in whatever small way I can, but no luck as of yet.
  4. This sounds interesting I'd totally look into doing something like this. Always interested in expanding rp out on other servers. So I guess if you'll have me hit me up with what sort of things you have in mind, and I'll roll a character somewhere.
  5. As long as the oppression of the weak continues we'll be there...fighting against the tyranny of the city states...VIVA REVOLUTION!!
  6. For us players that aren't popular and renowned for our rp it can definitely be difficult to find rp. I will say lalafell probably do have an extra challenge to overcome. Since between their appearance and the way a few I've seen rp'd can give a bad stigma to the race to the point people find it hard to take seriously. But bright side is at the very least it might help act as a filter to help avoid the large load of people out there whose only focus is erp. More important though is you just got to be persistent. It took me ages to find an fc where I felt I fit in. Finding a group of people who share your same interestsize can be hard. Just got to keep pushing until you start finding people and people start to recognize your character. That being said I'd love to meet your lala...tHough I will warn you S'imba has the belief that all lalas are evil so if you can handle someone being overly suspicious and uneasy with your character shoot me a tell.
  7. What server are you on, there's a few servers with linkshells out there but I'm not sure which server or who to contact. I do have a few alts on other servers so if it's one of them I'd be happy to hop on and do a little rp.
  8. Well my thoughts are you're an adventurer who originally set out for fame and glory. The WoL doesn't seem to have any reservations about telling most his stories. Tells the minstrel his stories who then sings it to the world. Any word about a mythical floating island is going to attract adventurers and thrill seekers. So unless Ishgard has some how managed to figure out a way to keep adventurers out I don't see any reason why it couldn't be visited.
  9. n Game Theme(s): clinic, adventurers, mercenaries, medicine FC/LS Name: Sutures & Swords Contacts: Tai Aubade, S'imba Tia
  10. Whoa this isn't the thread I tried to post in...wtf?
  11. Heya Mateus was my original server and I still got a character there, actually been playing on it recently cause I wanted to check the server out. So I'd be willing to do some rp there. I've been wanting to do some AU type rp's.
  12. Well I have an alt there that I rolled when a friend wanted to check the server out. So I'd be willing to rp...though I can't really give advice on finding rp there. I can't say whether the transfer would be worth it if you'd be leaving friends behind. Depends on how much you play with them I guess.
  13. I don't see any problem playing white mage. To me it seems once someone has the secret of succor they're pretty much free to do whatever they want with it. Whether the elementals agree or disagree. It's why they went to all that effort to hide the ruins of amdpor. If they had the capabilities to take it away I would think it would be a pretty good way to warn people what happens when you misuse white magic. Since the elementals wanted that place to stay hidden it suggests that there's something that isn't supposed to be found. Based on the things we saw in lost city hm the white mages were doing some bad juju type of things. Basically I feel if you're character has an explanation how they got that knowledge I feel you could play it ic. There's not really any force in the game that is powerful enough it can't be beaten in some way. As for making everything about your character public knowledge ooc I'm split on it. If it's something I see that could affect rp I'll mention it. If someone's curious I'll explain. There's quite a few things about S'imba I don't tend to mention often in rp cause in most cases it really won't influence the story. So normally I won't mention certain things unless I'm directly asked about it. I have added a few things to my wiki that fell into this category after a few upset people were mad I didn't make some things public knowledge cause they wanted it to use it for their story arc. Though the biggest thing is just have fun. I'm fairly certain there's plenty of people hate me cause of the way I rp, and want nothing to do with me. But I got people who do enjoy my rp and have like minded tastes. I don't want to spend my time worrying what the community thinks of me by pandering to what some general consensus the community says how you should rp. All I care about is whether your character has a compelling story and motivations...all this over excessive lore policing only has led to the same stuff over and over again cause they are pigeon holed into writing their character to fit in with how everyone else thinks you should play your character.
  14. I'll admit I'm scrublord prime but I'm still gonna give myou two cents. To me it seems a lot of people approach things really singular minded in the fact they just want to focus on what their job is rather than the needs of the group. So you get dps who just want to go in and tunnel in on doing the most damage. Tanks that don't want to deal with people getting aggro, and healers that don't want to have to heal. Markers and stuff kind of bug me when I'm dpsing cause I hate the feeling of the tank thinking I'm so stupid I need to be directed what to attack. I'll do my best to attack what the tanks attacking without markers, but when I suck at that and I get close to getting aggro I'll swap targets. When I'm tanking I don't mark since I expect my dps to do a little more than go through a rotation. I'll cycle through my targets if people are attacking different things and check aggro. Course when I can go without marking and having dragoons and Monks attacking different things and I can keep aggro I feel bad ass. But that's just me flexing my tanking eepeen. If a healer tosses a regen on me before a pull I'll ask them to avoid that. (I keep having this paranoia that regens screw with my darkside draining too much mp.) But for the most part I just deal with it....doesn't feel to hard to position myself to grab enemies if they don't immediately target me. Meh just my little rant...it's a pet peeve of mine when people just focus on one thing rather than the needs of the team...probably cause my career pounds that mindset into me constantly.
  15. My theory...Nidhogg is a bigger asshole than he lets on. He's always hated mortals. His war goes way back before the dragonsong war. When Hrasvelger and the others made peace with the mortals it pissed him off to the point his siblings were traitors in his eyes. He manipulated events that led to the murder of his sister, used it to justify his war. Some patch down the road he'll end up throwing it in Hrasvelgr's face of how pathetic he was and inform him of the real trurh. Mostly cause I would rather him be a bigger player than it just being the generic ascians behind every bad thing that happens. Then change the Nidhogg tt card to a card with all ones except a middle finger on one side.
  16. Niddhog just jumped on the dragoon hype when HW came out and didn't put any effort into learning the class. >.> Though in all seriousness that might have a lot to do with it. From what little cutscenes we've been shown of him he is usually in dragon form. So when he uses Estinien's form he's just kind of trying to copy the knowledge he has from watching dragoons kill dragons. I mean it's a completely way of killing than he's used over the ages of his life using a lance for a first time. I'd just say Vidofnir was just damn lucky it didn't hit where Niddhog was aiming (cause SE doesn't want to kill her). Spear missed anything vital it should of hit, spine or heart. Though the reasoning for even appearing as Estinien would have been more of a symbolic gesture. He wanted the Ishgardians to know exactly what he did to their champion. Throw them into despair and break their spirits by showing them that even the mighty Azure Dragoon was nothing him. Most of those people were ultimately too insignificant to kill and it would ultimately be far more useful to let them go home and tell everyone they know what they saw. Really seems to me that the greatest weapon that Niddhog employs is the head games.
  17. Nidhogg trying to kill dog dragon's kids isn't new though. A lot of that churning mist's stuff is about how Hrasvelgrr and hid brood are traitors. Nidhogg seems to have this attitude of if you're not part of my cause you get to die. (Which isn't surprising considering how insane he his.) Even though I do kind of feel that Hrasvelgr and Nidhogg are going to have a showdown, it's going to be just because SE forcing it to happen. Dog dragon just doesn't give a damn about anything. Doesn't help that he kind of agrees with Nidhogg.
  18. *squints* I think I might have to find a way to make this happen...because that would be so fantastic. :bouncy:
  19. S'imba would probably be easily molded into the scions wishes for him. Never questioning what they were asking him to do. He'd probably do all the mundane quests cause he has a problem where he at least tries to help anyone who asks him to do anything. Though I think he'd have a breakdown when the people he felt he had to protect started to sacrifice themselves to protect him, because he was the chosen one and had to be the one to survive. I dunno if he could handle being told to leave his friends behind to fend off certain death while he went to face down the next primal like the good little exterminator he was.
  20. Well I doubt Azys Lla is going to stay a secret very long. There's not a lot about the WoL does that remains a secret. You got a minstrel singing songs about his deeds in one of the adventuring hubs filled with people seeking riches, knowledge, or thrills. I don't think the eorzean alliance is just going to let the Garleans run around a place like that unchecked looking for more superweapons they can use in their conquests. So I doubt they'd do much to keep it a secret, I'd imagine it to be quite the opposite in letting these adventurers that they work so hard to draw in. (Only letting adventurers live in the housing districts.) Then just assume they'll do keep the Garleans occupied and keep any dangerous beasties from escaping. Lot of personal head canon but it doesn't seem to be an impossible lore breaking idea.
  21. This can only be a secret method of planting subliminal methods to further the cause of the revolution! Or perhaps R'elend is using this as a way to spy on the citizens of Ul'dah. Or Nat faked her death as part of a plan to take down the syndicate and now she's setting all the events into motion. I'm full of conspiracy theories today. >.>
  22. Personally I think the violation comes from the section about the violation of hurting the enjoyment of other players. Deciding it to be a more catch all on things to leave up to a the GM's discretionot as to what constitutes a violation. Which in theory is a good idea so they don't have to come up with a strict list of infractions. As well as be able to something about an issue that suddenly comes up that SE forgot to ban. Though the problem with this is the fact that not every GM is going to have the same views as another. So things are not going to be consistent with each other. Which means that we're going to have a mucky grey area. They could probably figure out a way to implement a combination of the two systems. I sreally it somewhat similar to what the advances cardiac life support guidelines say irl. Using a medication in a certain type and location in a heart attack patient isn't written out as a no don't do that rather it says that it should be used with extreme caution I'd at all. Despite the fact that it leaves wiggle room to use it and it's use can be defended by the fact that it's not a definite don't do that. If it goes to court if the people in your field say they would not have given it in that situation then you'll be in violation. I kind of see this the same way, when the devs say we strongly advise against participating in X activity it means you're treading in dangerous waters if it can be proven that by in taking part in that activity hurt the enjoyment of others. Basically before the trolling incident you could have gotten away with it due to a lower amount of people getting upset about it. Once that occurred they had a lot more proof to justify saying that house selling took away other people's enjoyment. So now they can crack down on it much harder than they did previously. I'm sure there's a lot of other factors involved such as man power and having other reports to enforce to watch to see if the entire player base is adhering to every single rule. While not a problem on balmung other servers would be swamped with fighting gil sellers. I may be entirely wrong about all this but it's just my personal thoughts on it. We probably could use a lot more listed violations but at the same time I feel that this offers a lot more freedom as players, just sucks people can't be responsible and take advantage of such a situation to be ass holes rather than just be mature and play nice. Which will end up with them making rules and enforcing them with an iron fist to make sure we are nice to each other.
  23. Well S'imba was a slave in the bloodsands, though as far as the public was concerned he was condemned assassin. He ended up escaping, but has returned to fighting in the less deadly fights. If you were interested we could put some sort of connection together.
  24. I think it's something that needs to be discussed ooc with people. Mostly cause it can affect someone else's character to the point they stop enjoying their character. Like if someone's character is close to the character that gets killed off for a character to just ignore that fact and magically not be affected. So just throwing that on someone out of the blue is kind of bad form. You should at least have the courtesy to discuss with them how killing your character would affect them. Having a spouse off tends to absolutely destroy characters, and that may not be a character they want to have to play. The other thing is how you plan to kill your character. Especially if you plan on having a player character do the deed. Like S'imba nearly killed a few characters. Killed R'elend once which was more on me for getting violent, and beating him to death. (Thank god the roll on the rez was a win.) Though that would be a situation I couldn't feel bad about cause S'imba was going over the top with his force. Though the one that was more of a bad thing was having a friendly spar though the other character was treating it like S'imba was packing the punches of the Soviet from rocky 4 despite the guy being twice as big as S'imba. Though he didn't end up dying the close call still ended up with S'imba getting more than a few bounties on his head by player characters for it. That's more the situation that some people may get unhappy about. Forcing a character to use lethal force when their character is trying to do the opposite can upset some people when their character is suddenly a killer out of the blue. I was ok with both those scenarios but there are others that may not be as open to that sort of thing. Basically if someone plans to kill a character off, like a lot of rp stuff discuss things ooc with people so you don't put someone in a situation they can no longer enjoy their character.
