  1. Well how much are poachers actually hurting the forest? Based on the gang's fortress they are more part of the forest than living with the forest. Gridanians are far more invasive than the poachers themselves. I think keepers in general would be more tolerated for that reason. They don't build large wood structures, they use the very minimum they need. Despite the fact that they are straight up bad in the end they probably end up benefitting the forest more than harming it like that damn Gridania, with their botanists and crafters.
  2. I may be a little bit late to tonight's event, so I hope that won't be too much of a problem.
  3. I kinda feel Edda would have to have some sort of void magic. She managed to continue to live on somehow after falling off a cliff. I probably shouldn't be be speculating on how she survived since I haven't finished the palace of the dead yet. But to still be around seems to be something bigger than conjury. Really can't imagine that's a power the elementals would allow. So really there's only a few ways she could do that. Void magic or the nefarious white magic we keep hearing about. I guess some sort of necromancy could be a thing too, but based on what was going on I'd say the most likely way is void magic.
  4. I think it depends on how much a person is willing to delve into the void. I mean void power is still just aether, but it's seems to be highly corruptive and slowly turns a person into a monster, depending on how much a person draws on it. Last boss from haukke Manor appears to be a voidsent, but she is that psychopath bathing in the blood of virgins or something. Basically I think a person could use void like powers, it's just eventually you will become some form of voidsent through continued use.
  5. Closest thing I know of is what happened with Nero...though I don't think much detail went into that.
  6. Ok so this is just a bunch of theories that make sense to me. For males I'd imagine he'd do one of three things, ignores them, kills them, or forces them to join and twists the whole Nunh thing by breaking them to make himself look like the only suitable mate. Then just brainwashes females to look upon the males with disdain. As for getting them to join he's probably extremely good with words. Telling them how he's the only one who understands them, how he can help them. I'd imagine he's also seen as a bit of a hero in some keepers eyes. Creating some kind of resistance against Gridania who is crushing out the keeper ways. Then they join up on his crew and he just slowly brainwashes them.
  7. Too me it would be harder to explain the lack of a soulstone if claiming to be able to do a job than how one actually came to get it. Even if you had a teacher to teach a student it would still mean having a soul stone. It's a secure way to record a person's life's work. Then as it gets passed down more and more people add to that knowledge. Some of the jobs that have more restricted knowledge or just lost knowledge would be needed to. It seems pretty unlikely a person can go and casually find a book titled being a dark knight for dummies. I would say not having one severely gimpy a person. Rather than having access to exactly how a person originally spent a lifetime developing a basic fundamental of a job, the practitioner would have to do all that same work themselves. Kinda the reason why I thought all paladins had a soul stone.
  8. Well I thought in the first drk quest, the soulstone is what let's a person to fuel their abilities with the darkness that resides within everyone. At least that's what I was pretty sure fray said.
  9. Mateus is pretty dead my original toon is still there, but Warren's right. Balmung can't keep accepting transfers forever. Though the low population could be advantageous in building a community cause less people to troll, plenty of housing, plenty of room to grow and have the room to fill it with rpers. It's a huge undertaking but I'd be willing to come over and rp there. Maybe we'd get lucky and actually make something out of it. I mean if you wanna transfer go for it. Though according to the official site transfers will be the first to be moved to a new server if the server gets overloaded.
  10. It's next to impossible to write a story without protagonists, antagonists, and agonists. Otherwise rp really just becomes tavern rp....and even then you'll still have those things to some extent. It also comes down to the separation of ic and ooc. Just because someone constantly is trying to be a hero doesn't mean the player is trying to make them a main character to a plot. Character may just be a freelancer who is supposed to fail despite their best efforts. There's also the thing with character personality. Just like in real life you've got characters who will be more assertive and try and jump in and do something. It would take something away if everyone was apathetic to helping people.
  11. I think it depends. I personally feel a character's flaws in their discipline is a lot more interesting than how good they actually are. Being a complete master leaves no room for growth in their field. I think personality is also hugely important to a character's job or class. S'imba would suck at arcanist for the fact he doesn't have that mathematical and strategy forming skills the class requires. A character who keeps his head cool 100% of the time and highly analytical probably won't be the greatest warrior or drk. Then you get into soulstones and how much they affect skill. They'd definitely increase the rate of which someone learns. Though I don't think it's an instantaneous event. It still requires a lot of work. There's nothing wrong with having a knack for something, but it still seems more intriguing if there's an appropriate amount of room for growth. The best black mage rper I've ever seen used a lot of these traits. 50 year old man whose family line traced themselves back as black mages passing the secrets from father to son type of deal. He was a highly skilled black mage. He has the personality you would expect to see. Arrogant, his magic was so superior in his mind that all other kinds were inferior, and power hungry. Despite this his grasp on the art while he could be considered a master still had plenty of mistakes bring made and still had to go to the book to look up spells and rituals. He had strengths and weaknesses within the scope of black magic. Which made it feel much more realistic. Basically my thoughts on it is even a prodigy would have to spend a life time devoted to a craft to become a master. It's unlikely that someone trying to use every discipline would become a master since most of thour things require a life time purely devoted to them. Just my personal opinion.
  12. I'm a noob at this fate 14 but I was told this was a good spot to try my first event. So if possible I'd like to sign up for save the kids.
  13. I've always been interested in doing something like this. Not so much to see my own character but to see how other people's characters react and handle it.
  14. I feel like being ic all the time would lead to some really awkward and hard to explain situations. I once was running the Aery and a highlander in the party starts to rp with me. Like "I know you. I've seen you around the quicksand. What are you doing here." I mean at first I thought it was just ooc talk, but when I realized he was using quotes and emotes. I was so shocked by someone being that bold in a duty roulette that I couldn't help but respond iclly. Talked about the dragon's we were facing and I just rolled with it, trying to figure out if he was serious or not. I'll admit my responses werey kind of awkward, didn't exactly use quotaction marks or anything. But yeah I can't imagine being ic all the time to that degree.
  15. I mean I think a lot of that stuff is just kind of set up for bigger things to come. The timing for doing it was bad in my opinion, but my thoughts are these things they seem to be glancing over were done intentionally to keep the focus on the current bad guy. I think I'd they focused on that stuff too much it would have taken away from the threat Nidhogg represented. He wouldn't have been a final boss cause we would be more focused on the next big thingame. The other thing I feel like they were trying to convey was trying to make it seem like the WoL was getting overwhelmed. The stronger he gets the more threats he's going to be expected to deal with. To create a feeling that despite being Hydaelyn's champion he's still only one person. Though once again, they could definitely have executed it better.
  16. As much as I'd like to see what's going on back in Ul'dah and those other places, I don't think we're going to get an entire patch dedicated to then. Maybe at most we'll get a quest or two focusing on them but I think they'll keep the focus on Ishgard until the next expansion. We may get quests that start leading into the next expansion. Similar to how we started getting highly involved in Ishgard back in 2.0. Then like we did to the Grand companies of Eorzea we'll ditch Ishgard and represent a new Providence. My guess of what's going to happen story wise will be more focus on the Garleans and the ascians. Now with Nidhogg dead it gives the scions time to focus on fighting them again. Probably start trying to find a way to return strength to Hydaelyn. Warrior of Darkness will probably cause chaos, maybe use the eyes to regroup the horde. Oh and probably do more stuff with dragons.
  17. I seriously doubt Ishgard is going to be a happy joyful place. With the separation of church and state a lot of people are going to be losing a lot of power. They probably won't be as open about how they were functioning last patch or the one before, where they were kidnapping and all that stuff. Probably slowly and carefully undermine the new Republic. The other thing is that these people who have been influenced for longer than a a thousand years are still going to be influenced by those teachings. They may know there's a lot of lies but it's doubtful they're going to just give up their beliefs entirely. You've got this new government with two ruling bodies, the lowborn aren't going to just start liking the highborn.now that they got more power they're going to use that against them. Those are just my personal opinion on the matter, though se will probably just go with happy land.
  18. Well 2.2 quests there's that Sahagan that had the ability to move to a new body and transform it into his own. Whether it be true of all echo people isn't made clear...though considering the ascians all have the echo that might be why they can't be killed by conventional means. Also I think Frey is a bit of a special case, though the final quest definitely shows he's real enough at least to interact with normal people.
  19. -S'imba hates moogles. -he's 100% oblivious to someone flirting with him. -He's got super bad adhd. -He's easily amused...he gets entertainment from shiny things. -Despite the fact that he is quite idiotic, he does tend to play dumb a lot of the time. Whether it be he's just playing cards close to his chest, or he's ashamed of something about himself, or just is afraid of looking crazy. -He can handle aether pretty good, though corrupted aether tends to get to him in large amounts. Void, primal, or other similar types. Though a summoner once did discover he is strangely resiliant to being exposed to primal aether. *edit* -He's also racist against Elezen
  20. The night ravens had lady luck on our side last night...made it through the entire aquapolis.
  21. Well he's a gladiator, if Ozzie were to bring that up he might get a good show of ego, though he most certainly could be provoked to show one of the others as well.
  22. Well if you're interested in a drk S'imba is always availiable to use most of those he has a bit of a problem with.
  23. Well initially S'imba got his power from being experimented on by a psychotic summoner. Cause apparently he was the only specimen who could survive the process. Later he became Edgelord Prime after being paid in a weird crystal from some ignorant merchant for recovering some stolen goods. He carried it around like all the other weird rocks people have given him. Eventually he was attacked by a monster. When his knives didn't work he stepped back tripping over an old sword. Picking it up the soulstone would wake and gave him the knowledge how to fight with the weapon. Afterwards it spoke to him offering the power to protect those he cared about, he accepted and started hallucinating that some old guy was talking to him. Though anyone watching him would have seen him having a conversation with himself.
