  1. They're also unfairly impacted by a slew of other stuff (spell speed on most of their gear when they need crit, etc.) And yeah, it is one hell of a slippery slope. I'd say the Paladin not wearing a shield has a lot more problems to figure out than where he needs to figure out his stat allocation.
  2. And I tried when that thread opened in 2.4 and was rebuffed by character lock. YMMV is what I'm saying.
  3. I haven't seen the Ahriman as much. Does Kell look cool riding it on my WAR glamour? Yep. Would I actually have that IC? Hellllll naaaaaaw. If I'm ridin' IC I'm riding a yellow birdie.
  4. I'd rather have one who's more focused on improving their play than where they spent 30 points. I don't care that my SCH got 30 points in friggin' STR. Just, y'know, DO THE JOB. I always wondered why they allowed stat distribution if there was clearly a superior spec anyway. Any game that has player-chosen stat distribution will have that, and it's just another hassle and point of contention between players for them to argue and hate each other over. I mean, for PUG why wouldn't I put 30 STR? There is literally no other stat that will improve anything I have to do.
  5. That ship sailed even prior to the Holidays. Ever since 2.4 hit I don't think I've seen a single moment where Balmung was open except right after Maintenance. I just find it funny they lock down the server even if you already have a character there.
  6. I never viewed the Relics as something you did because of the stats unless you just want an i90 weapon to start doing some higher grade stuff off the bat (since that chain is easy as pie now). You do it because you want the Zodiac, whether for looks, because you want a Zodiac with a precise set of stats, or just to say you have the friggin' thing.
  7. Honestly, if you're hurting for 15 points in one main stat THAT much... keep an Althyk's Hymn on hand at all times I guess?
  8. From my experience, Balmung is closed until further notice and believe you me they won't give us that notice. As in, I stayed up until 5:30 AM in the hopes I could roll some alts but no dice, on a Monday. This may be alleviated slightly if the talks of opening a EU datacenter materialize.
  9. I am pokable at nearly all times, so if you see me around, don't hesitate!
  10. IT'S NOT THE SIZE OF THE KNIGHT IN THE FIGHT, BUT THE SIZE OF THE FIGHT IN THE KNIGHT! But for realsies, if Papalymo can be head of the Sultansworn I'd say all arguments about Laladins are invalidated via lore. And Alka Zolka smartest Marauder, too. Still fairly baller in a fight too.
  11. I MISSED THIS. THIS IS KELL'S PERSONAL FAVORITE OF THE TWELVE AND I MISSED IT BECAUSE I WASN'T HOME. Welp, gonna go flog myself with a mythril greataxe bai.
  12. Other than Arcanist, I don't think there's anything that can be dualjobbed without having a severe revision of the class. That being said, if we DO have new classes I DO hope they'll be dualjobs, and if we don't, I'm okay with just jobs. It just means a longer job story and I'm all for that.
  13. Hey guys. Here's some speculation - It's been implied by the Sons of Saint Coinach that the Gigas of Mor Dhona believe they're descended from Allagans and thus is why they converge on the tower. HOWEVER, one of the levequests have to face off against one of their leaders, and the only thing he says and implies there is that they're converging on the tower in order to ascend to the heavens. Perhaps one could say they're... heavensward? SO WHAT I'M SAYIN' IS MAYBE WE'LL SEE MORE GIGAS IN THE EXPAC?
  14. Eh, I sees an Ahrimans I kills the Ahrimans. Voidsent need to be sent back to their homes, and killing them is the most merciful way.
  15. Might be that - I never used Waste Not to level except on Leatherworker since that's a free slot.
  16. It's +4 CP. Hardly a dealbreaker. Also, by leveling all the crafts at the same time you'll be able to craft your own crafting gear. A fair boon as if you keep updated you'll certainly reap the benefits of easier HQs and thus faster leveling.
  17. I didn't consider innovation because IIRC GSM was one of the last ones I capped but yeah - Innovation strats might be good for leveling.
  18. I will not do the same mistake as in another RP group and put the most recent pics of me. They include far too much fat dude in far too little clothing (though thematically appropriate for the context the picture was taken). So, instead, uh, have me looking fucking creepy holding hands with a kid as per the parent's request.
  19. Better to start now, and then paw ineffectively at the stuff you want than get the stuff you want and forget why you wanted it in the first place. That being said, I should be in Limsa more. You can't miss me, my character's the only black person in Limsa.
  20. I'll be honest here - I like bending stuff. NEVER tell me "this can't be done" or "this goes against the lore" or "this would be highly inefficient" because I will find that little damned piece that says I can do it, I will do it, and I will laugh/cough all the way to the bank getting some awesome RP and tells complimenting me on my character while you hold that L(ore) in your chest. So, as such, here we go : Hyur Midlander - Anything goes here, really. Not much we can say that Midlanders can't do. Kell being a Midlander I'm already having him study various paths anyway (primarily because I can't make an alt on Balmung ;.; ) Highlander - Lancer/Dragoon. According to the map Ala Mhigo is close enough to Ishgarde that I could see one heading to Grid/Coerthas and aligning themselves with the Lancers' guild, then bullshitting my way into DRG. Elezen Wildwood - Gladiator/Paladin. They have the dedication to become Paladins out the gate for sure and I could definitely see it. Duskwight - Marauder/Warrior - Thaumaturge/Black Mage. Live in seclusion away from society? Check. Have a possible hate-on for the Wildwood and Gridania? Check. Want to ravage whatever is in their way and would be fairly effective against these fucking trees? Triple check. Lalafell Plainsfolk - Marauder/Warrior - Archer/Bard. People give others shit for running anything physical with Lalas, when the Plainsfolk are a common sight within the Yellowjackets of Limsa Lominsa. Sorry but y'all are wrong to be hatin' on my Lala bros. Archer/Bard is mostly because I plan on having my 2nd or 3rd character as a Lala bard, though in the bard sense, not the job sense. Still carry around a bow though. Dunesfolk - Arcanist/Summoner/Scholar - Gladiator/Paladin - The Scholar line seems heavily for Dunesfolk, who are mostly loners who want nothing to do with others and just want to count coin and research all day. However, one who has seen action and became a Summoner would be an interesting sight. In addition, Laladins remain the most noble of creatures. Miqo'te Seekers of the Sun - Marauder/Warrior - Most of them live in the desert. True. Still, what better way to show your superiority as a future Nuhn but currently Tia than CRUSHING THE FUCK OUT OF YOUR OPPONENT WITH A MASSIVE AXE. Only way I'd ever play Miqo, and Kell is my Warrior, so none of that will ever be happening Keepers of the Moon - Thaumaturge/Black Mage - Best way to stick it to Gridania and their silly anti-poaching laws would be to study the one art that goes counters to their conjury, and set some Wood Wailers on fire. Roegadyns Sea Wolves - Pugilist/Monk - Why? There are several ways to fight with a closed fist, and a dude that's as big as an ogre wanting to learn how to move smart? Gonna be a rough and tumble powerhouse. Plus, they got good balance from their experience on the sea, and balance is definitely needed for your average PUG/MNK moves. Hellsguard - Conjurer/White Mage - Because we don't know of the traditions of these Abalathia's Spine people and I'm pretty damn sure they don't all pick up a halberd. I could see one wanting to hear the mountain as the conjurers do the forest, and losing themselves into study of the Conjurer's art.
  21. I've seen enough topics, particularly good ones, reduced to mindless drivel because some people decided to take things the wrong way and jump right into to aggressive/passive-aggressive replies to warrant my own leniency to caution ;_; Bah, people exhibiting concern and friendliness towards people who aren't them or their own inner circle?
  22. "Do you know how hard you are to track down these days, kupo? You adventurers really should stay in the same place if you're expecting mail!" "Cut me some slack, Postmoogle, I got fired and lost the only place I actually hung around for more than a few hours." "It's already a hard enough time just to get this letter! My fluttery composure is strained by sea air, kupo! In any case, here you are and have a wonderful day! It's time for me to relax in a niiiice ba-... Erm, I mean, a Postmoogle's job is never done, kupo!" Thus, floateth away the Postmoogle, disappearing into the aether or whatever have you. Kellach was thus left with a strange letter from a far less strange sender. His brother sending him another letter after the first one he sent, telling him their father had died warmed his heart. Einrich had never been one for communication with his little brother. Behind his silly mask, Kellach smiled. "Time to crack this open and see what news came from the homeland." he says to himself. Taking his rightmost gauntlet off, he cuts open the letter using a carefully filed and manicured nail, before putting on the gauntlet once more and reading the letter. Kellach looked more defeated by this news than being fired. The home that he left, taken over by Garlemald? There was always that possibility, and he wondered why that hadn't been done. Why now, to boot. Still, many questions without answers. He sighed, and rummaged through his belongings to compose an answer. Fortunately, the Postmoogle could easily be found in one of the cities, but he had to be brief. Likely they would not deliver it straight to Einrich, as they did to him, since he was not on Eorzea. He walked towards a nearby outpost and began to write a very short reply. He quietly chucked to himself thinking that he was the only one who liked it. He cared not. He liked it, and that was that. Still, he would have to hand this to the Postmoogle next time he was in town, and hope that it can make its way to his brother.
  23. This thread gave me the idea to roll an IC Male Roe, likely fairly huge, and go straight to Rogue/Ninja. Already have a basic backstory for it, too - though it borrows some cliché tropes of an an accident then overcoming the disability throughout rigorous training and dedicating themselves to another path.
  24. The reason you want HQ everything on turn-ins is that they effectively DOUBLE the XP reward. So, on the Star one... it's a massive bonus. Enough to bypass at least one or two leves. EDIT : Stuff that's coming to me as I remember it - 1. Don't hesitate to cross class skills. Steady Hand 2 and Hasty Touch are the most important I'd say. 80% chance to raise quality without spending CP is better than 70%, especially for just an extra 3 CP on Steady Hand 2. 2. Each 5 levels you get an extra cross-class slot - Use it! Personally this is what I got (adjust for classes that already have these skills - I'm assuming you don't have 50 CRP and 50 ALC 'cause those I'd say Comfort Zone and Byregot's Blessing instead) Level 15 - Steady Hand 2, Hasty Touch, Tricks of the Trade Level 20 - Rumination Level 25 - Manipulation From there, I think you're gravy since those are the most important while grinding up some crafts.
  25. The reason the different classes help each other out is because of cross-class skills. You may have noticed (or not) that certain skills (namely, the level 16, 37 and 50 skills) are different for every class. These are the skills you can cross-class. Each DoH class you max out to 50 grants you more possibilities for easier HQing.
