  1. I'm a firm believer in this. If we want to keep the RP community strong, there's no reason to balk over who's going to what server and whatnot. That only makes people get a sour taste over RP as a whole and leave to go play another game or not RP at all. By being mindful of others, and putting our own hurt pride to the side, we allow for the community AS A WHOLE to grow. Screw this server or that, I want to grow the RP community...and wherever the people fall is their own decision. No use in trying to change it. If you want people to come where you are, be as nice and as welcoming as possible. That's how you do it, not by bullying them into one thing or another.
  2. I think that often times, as passionate people, we forget that this is a forum and that what we say here can be misinterpreted. I don't believe that anyone here has any ill will toward anyone else, or toward any other server. The RPC is our family, and seeing a family member leave the nest for other pastures is often a difficult thing to witness. I'm so happy to have been a part of this community for as long as I have, and to be a moderator here. Surprisingly, even when things get rough around here, it's still a great place to be with people who are generally respectful of each other. When I first found the RPC, I was a novice RPer. This was the first game I RPd in, and is my home. I was welcomed here with open arms and I hope to extend that welcome to everyone else I encounter here, regardless of where they will be rolling. Everyone here deserves that courtesy, and everyone here needs to remember that they were new to a community once. Coming into a community where it seems that there is dissent is never fun for anyone...and often makes people scared to even say something. I think we all need to remember what it was like, and place that at the forefront of our posts before we make them. We want this place to be welcoming to others as much as it was to us. Thank you guys for being a great community, and thank you for making my job here awesome!
  3. Welcome welcome! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask or check out our guides that are posted around. Also, awesome art! Love it! (Is super jelly of anyone with a modicum of artistic ability)
  4. I'm just so floored by your work. It's awesome. If you ever want to draw Alothia, you know where I am. lol But in all seriousness, you have some amazing talent, and I am super jealous!
  5. I like to liken the way that the mages cast in FFXIV to that of the weaving of the One Power in Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time. There are different levels of casters, people have different talents. People can take the different elements and apply them in different ways...*shrug* I think that the world allows for all sorts of magic users~ Here's the link to the wiki article about the One Power in the Wheel of Time universe. Makes sense to me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Power
  6. It all really depends on the people you play with. Some people are vehemently against it, while others don't really mind. Shop around for your linkshell/FC, make sure you find a group of people who accept your play style, and when you go out and RP with other people, just keep in mind that other people may not like it. *shrug* RP however you feel most comfortable with!
  7. I'm happy to meet everyone and anyone. I'm a relative noob to RP considering I'm an oldb, but that's besides the point. Lets get this party started!
  8. I'd be happy to help you with this endeavor, set up a Skype group for it, or whatever. ^^

Welcome, welcome! Hope you like it here! Please don't be shy, and feel free to hang out and comment on stuff. We're always happy to help out someone new. Be sure to check out our mentoring thread, and our various guides and wikis. Please let us know if you have any questions~!
  10. It all depends on where your Miqo'te grew up. A lot of us made our Miqo'te before they released the information on the lore, and so we have more metropolitan Miqo'te, which operate just like any other city dweller. Others have fit in the tribal aspect into their character. It's all up to the player. You can check out my wiki if you'd like to know more about my Miqo'te. Link is in my signature. ^^
  11. Oooh! This will be fun! I will update my list of Alothia tropes here:
  12. Please post that on there! lol Although, if ALothia read that she'd be wondering if it were her....oh dear...
  13. Wouldn't it be great if Eorzea had it's own version of Craigslist? Yeah, I thought so too. So I bring you CidsList! A place where you can find a new Chocobo, a job as an assassin, and make that connection with that girl you missed on the Ruby Road Exchange! Feel free to check it out and make a post or two! http://cidslist.shivtr.com/ So, it's kinda a joke right now, but this might be an interesting way of advertising things when the game gets off of its feet. Just a thought.
  14. I understand the reasoning behind closing off registration, but at the same time I think it was somewhat of a foul move, since I don't recall there being any warning that registration would be suspended. Not only was there the thread posting about why it was being closed off, there was a link to that thread at the top of the entire forum, much like the one right now talking about the poll, for at least 4 or 5 days before we closed registration.
  15. Damnit, Sae...you can't undermine me. That's why I'm so nice to everyone. I mean...um....*backs away slowly*
  16. We're getting quite a bit of this, apparently... Well it's just 1 less vote for Gilgamesh really. So hopefully not too much in the way of harm done. I just remembered that the group I'm going to join up with free company wise is established on Balmung. sorry for the absent mindedness. You should be able to go back and delete your vote if you didn't mean to vote.
  17. If there is a winning server, it will have garnered 4% of the people registered here. I'm not sure how this is unfair. 40 people is not a lot of people. We've had a lot of new people coming to the RPC in the last two months, and those people are getting their vote. If we had more than 40 votes for two different servers, I don't see why it wouldn't be appropriate to have a section for each of those servers. We do have a minimum in place to make it relevant. Also, if we opened up the RPC to registrations while the poll is going on, what is to stop someone from creating a ton of dummy accounts and flooding the polls simply to get a new section of the forum open? It has happened before, and could happen again. It needs to be worth the time and effort for us to put in a new section of the forums. I understand we could get new moderators, but that also takes time to figure out who would make a good moderator and who could be trustworthy. I'm pretty sure that we'd be open to suggestions. What do you think would be a number that would be great enough to warrant another section of the forums. I honestly have no idea, as this is really the first site that I've moderated for other than my own linkshell's website.
  18. It's definitely original. You might have a bit of a difficult time finding a place that will accept his backstory, but it was definitely a hoot to read!
  19. Be aware that some of those events have been organized by the people here. A lot of us are simply using that as a temporary home during beta so that we can play with the new people who can't make characters on Balmung right now. ^^ Yes, please be aware that many of the RPers you may be meeting on Gilgamesh are going to end up on Balmung. Some of Gilgamesh's cool RP community are actually Balmung RPers awaiting phase 4. Right, not to say that awesome RP won't happen on Gilgamesh, just be aware that a lot of the Balmung RPers are there right now.
  20. *shrug* Can't please everyone, I suppose. I hope you all find great RPs wherever it is that you guys decide to go!
