I really wish that everyone could just get along and be happy. We're doing our best here trying to accommodate both sides of the fence. We would love to see everyone come to Balmung, but we know now that that is not going to happen. Kylin runs this website with a little help from us as far as funding is concerned, but he mostly does it out of his own pocket. While maintaining a separate forum for every server that has RPers on it may not seem like a daunting task, it takes a little work to be able to run a website that has this many people on it as there are already. I think that we're being pretty fair in trying to help the RP community that doesn't want to come to a Legacy server try to come to a consensus on where to go so that we can try to avoid all of these little fissures. We understand that it is going to happen, but we want to try to keep them as small as possible. We advertised about the poll for a week or so before we posted. We cross posted to the official forums to let people know that it is happening. We are diligently looking at the votes as they come in and are trying to encourage those people who plan on RPing on another server to vote. I'm not sure what else we can do here. I want new players to play with. The game will die without them. RP might very well die without them. But RP might also die if the RPers get spread too thin. This poll is an attempt at trying to help keep everyone in a place where they will be able to find RP. I wish everyone good luck on coming to a consensus. I hope that even if we end up with a split community, that everyone has great RP on the horizon. It's all we can hope for at this point. ^^

Be aware that some of those events have been organized by the people here. A lot of us are simply using that as a temporary home during beta so that we can play with the new people who can't make characters on Balmung right now. ^^

I'm 29 and will be 30 in November. I'm an English teacher and this year I started teaching Creative Writing...although I don't know how I ended up with that position. I've never really done any creative writing before now, but I hear that I'm not too shabby at it. I don't know. All I know is that I enjoy doing it, and that's really what matters.

Legacy players are those who played during 1.0 and payed for 3 months of service, no more, no less. As far as what happened in the aftermath, not really sure. I haven't hit that bit in the storyline, if it even exists in beta.

I don't think that this has gotten blown out of proportion at all. No one here is trying to start an argument at all. We're all having a conversation here like adults.

Apparently it's a problem for more than just Deirdre. Other people feel like there are things that are being said that should be public knowledge. I think that this thread is pretty even headed, doesn't really call anyone in particular out, and seems to be provoking a good discussion that hasn't devolved into an argument. With that said, I have to commend everyone in this thread who has responded to this in a level headed manner. If more of our threads went this way, I'd be a happy mod indeed.

I agree. If we're having these meetings for the benefit of the people in our linkshells, and for the benefit of the community then we should make it transparent. If things are said that could be taken out of context, perhaps it is up to us to better police our words while we are speaking. Same thing goes for on here as far as I'm concerned. Half of the problems on the RPC wouldn't be here if people took a step back and re-read what they wrote before hitting submit.

Still working on figuring that out. But Bel played 1.0 with me back in the day, and asked if he could take the last name...and I said sure! So he'll be running with my crew at some point. Hopefully I can get my hubby to RP, and then you'll see three of us Starkwoods running around. We'll see though. ^^
