  1. Eleni is one of the most positive people on the Rpc...hands down.
  2. I understand all the rules of the legit talk thread, and will obey them. If I am found to have broken any of the rules, I will refrain from posting in the thread for a week. I understand that the purpose of this thread is to try and maintain discussion in good faith It took me most of the day to decide whether or not I should actually post in this thread. For obvious or less obvious reasons that is. But the more I considered it, the more I reflected over the months I've spent watching the boards, and watching the in game interactions....which compelled me to feel I'd like to speak on the matter of my findings, for whatever worth there is to them. I DO think a thread like this can help, as long as it's watched over and the same behaviors that we are so concerned about don't flare up here. Understanding and communication will always be key. I do feel the community has changed since I first started in the game. I do see a very different energy about, and it's concerning for certain. There is a larger focus on negativity. There is a greater magnification on a lot of ideas that tend to keep the tone at a low. There is a large sense of entitlement, coupled with being offended, slighted, or otherwise wronged. More often than not a thread is derailed with venom, or excuses and reasons why things won't work, than solutions and questions on how things CAN. That said, these are things I can't solve. That no one individual or conversation can either. For one there are alot of new faces all over the place. And a lot of frustration spilling out at concepts like the old heads being an issue, or not having time for them. Of walled off groups that they just can't get into...There is also the stigma of how much drama unfolds on other social media sites that also sweeps into the community. People are more ready now, to raise torches and swarm than I've ever seen before. I don't remember the prevalence of either when I began, but with the influx of new and returning players and the like spilling in, I think the tone is different now, and the new people coming in are taking that as just how things are here. That the expectation becomes a negative environment whether they want that or not, which honestly saddens me. There has to be a general turning down of the volume level on the griping and anger. On the tension and bad things, and more of a push towards the positive that foster growth as an actual community. No member here will ever be able to build it on their own, and if we all exist together, we must coexist in a fashion that promotes growth. It's all of our stories, all happening in tandem in the same setting at the same time. I for one have never blocked out a player for their character, their lore, or their Rp ability. Every interaction, every time I meet a new person it's adding another block to the foundation of what is my Rp world. In that regard I remain open to every chance, I cherish each opportunity and will always root for the folks who are having trouble fitting in. People can and will say whatever they please about me, but I've always made the point to involve as many people as I can in the storylines I do, and the sense of a living, organic world that grew out of that is something I find sorely lacking the current environment. Every single person here who brings forth their creativity into a new life in our communal world is important. We ALL pay the price of admission to this setting each month, and we are all equal. That is the only way this can be, the only way it can work. The walls have to be acknowledge as perceived, or torn down if they do exist at all. We each have to be kind to ourselves, and more so to those around us. That's all I've got. :tonberry:
  3. Come and meet the Doom Cat. He'd likely offer you a unique take on that situation, for sure. He is rather experienced in housing something from the void..... Also PM me and I can go over anything you want to talk about with how I've worked with a void demon in Rp. Will be glad to compare notes.
  4. He could always wind up at the doorstep of Morbolvine. We get alot of strays who learn, from word of mouth about the mansion full of Keepers. More than welcome to pop in for a drink and meet the gang ^-^:moogle:
  5. My doom kitty is a big fan of over the top fire based spells. That said he also is often pretty condescending to lalafels...this makes me think they would get along famously. ^-^:bomb: :bomb: :bomb:
  6. "Lho'a behave yourself." OR any of the variations of how he should be quiet, be good, or just not taken seriously at all.
  7. I need to update my multiple wikis...ugh....Can't society as a whole end and leave the power grid intact so I can sit at home and get these far more important things done?
  8. Oh I SO wish I could make this...maybe I can view some things at the tail end at least.
  9. You really just have to throw yourself into things. Social awkwardness aside...shyness aside...diving in head first has always worked best for me. if thats really too scary...scope out a convo or character that seems in line for something that would work for your character. Whisper them and establish a hook. A good rp hook can give you the keys into a storyline or social group based on your characters IC needs or background. there are some rough customers and unfriendly folks out there...but be persistant and use your best judgement based on observation. Most of all....its a game..have fun!:moogle:
  10. Angry Starbucks barista. He'd be stuck doing what he could for cash..
  11. The void cat is very competative...he has done the Runestone and the Bacchus shots based on snagging prizes. I can't see him turning it down.
  12. Low blowed out in the first round. The big nightmare will take the crown someday. I need to make some WWE style promos... on a serious note its great to see not only new faces, but the regulars coming back week after week. its quite a plot point now for some folks :moogle:
  13. I'd be of the mind that others have suggested..that it affectvand augments the item its attatchted to. Honestly I've never seen anyone really rp it out and now that its been said I think its an awesome schtick idea, especially for a PC like Otto who could afford to really play with it. Easily could become solid rp of finding someone icly who can apply it....the trails of aquiring certain types... There is a ton that can be done with this.
  14. I've been tweaking an idea and playing a gladiator from Halatali...Also Roe. He has been at the Grindstone the past few weeks. If you need help developing or Rp hooks linking to a background like that I can help?
  15. We should fight more. I haven't had my brains scrambled by a shield in awhile.
  16. It is a tricky situation... I'd echo the use of rolls for most random encounter fighters that can spring up, just because it takes the power and decision out of both of our hands and we can run with whatever the outcome might be.. Though I've had instances were suddenly the other player is rolling twice, for two weapons and lumping me up pretty fiercely too. In the end it comes down to how much further I plan to engage with the other person post that situation. If it's just preposterous and I can see it becoming a thing, then I'd probably steer clear of fighting anymore after taking whatever beating I probably have to. As someone who has played just about every race and character type, I can say that when you play the most giant Roegadyn's, most Miqo snark off intimidation and act like they could destroy me, lol. You just run with things I guess, and let the more ridiculous go, because it's not worth the effort. Other than that, the Grindstone is a prime learning spot for how to get beat up by people your character concept should be able to crush! A lot of what I do is fumble and fail as I get rekt. I've been playing a Roe there for weeks now, and despite his concept being this gladiator with a history, I've been beaten in the face with a stone carrot by a lalafel, and last night utterly destroyed by a Miqo who finished me with a low blow. In those cases, I just credit my loss to being overconfident or caught completely off guard. You can't win all the time. The better goal should be to make both players look good, even in defeat.
  17. He is kind of a bumbling doofus. Fair warning lol
  18. I've got an alt who I'm working on developing into a Rockford style, terrible detective. Maybe I can drop him by at some point.
  19. I've fallen hard back into Red Hot Chilli Peppers lately..
  20. This is the sort of thing Lho'a would love to even sit in on and observe..offer his conjury when needed. As a budding evil magic user and fellow Keeper....if it could be worked out Morbolvines huge house could work for surgery experiments too..
  21. I get what you are saying, but their are limits as to what can be acceptable for me. Awhile back, someone wanted to RP as the daughter of Zeus that somehow has been transported to Eorzea. In no way does that mesh with any lore or with this game at all. And if she chooses to RP that out, I will not try to stop her. She bought the game, it's her subscription she pays. That being said, I would avoid her when IC simply because that is way to immersion shattering. That being said, I have no problem partying up with her and running content etc OOC. I think to many people associate dislike for their RP character, as a dislike of them OOC. Which in my case, is simply not true. I wouldnt avoid her..but I do think my char would have to think she'd been in the sun too long.
  22. An open world policy had always helped me. Never excluding or avoiding folks based on style or differing ideas on lore gave me more acess...and in turn made me more accessible to those around me. Its not for everyone I suppose, but does wonders for actual community building. You can do more to help someone lore and style wise by interacting and teaching than you ever can by flaming or ignoring them. Then they could become a functional member of rp society...
