The newly founded Eorzean Institute is proud to announce their first fund raiser. The fair will consist of three different events. First, the Departments of Magic and Martial arts have organized a tournament to test your physical and magical prowess. Secondly the Department of Arts have organized both a fashion contest, and a song and poetry competition. All events will be free to enter, though any additional donations will be accepted. Prizes will be awarded to the first place winners of each competition. Tournament:All entries will be accepted, regardless of discipline. The event will follow standard Grindstone rules, using /random. Fashion Contest: Assemble your finest outfits, and model them for our panel of judges. Song and poetry contest: Compose and recite your finest songs or poetry for our panel of judges. All entries must be 'Seasons' themed: be it Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall, or any combination of the four. All events will be held on January 5th, beginning at 7:00 PM.CST Please respond with your name, and which competition you wish to participate in below. All donations will be accepted the day of the event by the head judge of each competition. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Location: Wayfarers of Eorzea have granted us the use of their establishment, located at ward 6, plot 58 of the Goblet! The fashion contest, and the song and poetry contest will be held in their inn, while the tournament will take place nearby.

When I work up the nerve to actually engage new people, I dont have too much difficulty finding Rp on Jujuwai. That said, I've seen you around. Or at least the eyes are distinctive and I think I have. Next time, I'll have to not just sit there, and actually try one of these 'walk up' things.

[align=center][/align] This here's Magnus. Following the Calamity, Fyrilsunn found himself a sailor without a ship. So he decided to start adventuring. One day he was walking past the chocobo stables in Limsa, and learned that they where getting ready to 'retire' an old charger. Fyrilsunn decided to take the bird, figuring it was still fit enough for his needs. He quickly found that the old warbird had plenty of fight left in him. Magnus is crotchety, squawks at everything, and will nip your arse if you're not looking. But he's loyal, fearless, well trained, and has no qualms with pecking the shit out of a monsters face when called for.

My availability is really open, and I'm able to be online almost any time during the afternoon or evening est. I have to occasionally disappear to play taxi for others in my house, but I also only have a tank class at the appropriate level.

Fyrilsunn's(almost) always happy to meet new people. Especially over a few drinks. Also an alt im working on by the name of Aulsoix is a thaumaturge, and is always up for some magic based nerding and shenanigans. Though poor fellas only barely past 30 so location is a bit limited.

One of my alts, Jujuwai, is an talented young engineer who recently made his way to the skysteel manufactory. And he can always use more people to nerd out with.

I main a roe, and have another waiting in the wings who doesnt see the light of day enough. Why? because Viking Pirates just speaks to me. But for real, people that think Roegadyn, lore-wise, are locked into a meathead caveman/barbarian warrior archetype are wrong. Just look at Roegadyn in the world. We've got the head of the Weavers guild, a Hellsguard male(You know he aint clubbing women haul back to his cave). We've got Einzhar, badass ex-pirate king turned Storm Marshal. Then there's Merlwyb herself, an incredibly dignified, well spoken woman. Sure, the lore lends itself to those stereotype, but there is plenty of wiggle room. For instance, Fyril was just a shipwright, before Garlemald came, and he took up arms and joined the Maelstrom. If that hand't happened, he'd probably never have picked up an ax, unless it was to trim a tree before turning it into timber. An on that note, I leave you with what happens when two max sized roe share a seat.

Currently Fyrilsunn is stationed in Ishgard with the rest of his fc. If you'd like a chance encounter, I'd be game. Just a heads up though, the colds and the locals have him a big cranky.

I'd say so long as you can justify their level of skill in something, along with a fairly appropriate amount of time to reach that skill level in their backstory. For instance: my main Fyrilsunn grew up amongst tradesmen. He was apprenticed to his father, a shipwright, and learned that trade to at least a journeyman level, before taking up the roll as a privateer ships carpenter for nearly thirteen years, which he adapts into a superb understanding of carpentry and woodworking. He also spent a good amount of time with his grandfather in the forge, and knows the basics of most metalcrafts, though he could never compare to an actual tradesman in the field. Then throw in the fact that he's been aboard a privateer vessel for most of his adult life, swinging a battleaxe, followed by five years a high risk adventurer, he's been fighting for nealry 17 years. You don't live that long without either a good amount of luck, a good amount of skill, or a hefty dosage of both. I dont feel like he's too skilled, but then again, he's only TRULY masterful at two things. He's just a fair amount of latent talent in the crafting department that he never gets to tap into. Furthermore, there is the idea that once you reach a certain point of mastery in something, the lines of how skilled you are get blurry. Can you compare the works of Raphael and Michelangelo? They where both brilliant, but who was more so? In short... its okay to be extremely skilled. Your character can be good, he could be one of the best. But how can you tell he IS the best? Just dont make him so at litteraly everything. Characters without some flaws are boring.

Though I have no idea what your characters like, I've a few characters they could interact with. While largely self motivated, he does his damndest to look out for his crewmates, especially those placed under his leadership.

I tend to think that you NEED to be at an aetheryte shard to use the network. Thats how I tend to rp it anyways. Lore wise, they are a lot more prevalent and available than the airship alternative I see touted most often.
