1. Chocobo races are at least entertaining and have an okay payout. I don't think you have to pay to do them either.
2. The key is him putting his cards where they need to be. If Godbert doesn't go into middle right and Titan/Greg into top center, you gotta basically play it by ear and pray.
3. Here's the simple breakdown: Use the starting deck of coeurl, dodo, bomb, mandragora, and sabotender. Get first move. If he gets it, odds of losing go up substantially. Put dodo in bottom right corner. He will almost always put Godbert above it. Put mandragora in top left corner. He will almost always put Titan or Greg to the right of it. Put coeurl in bottom left corner. I forget what he puts to take it. Here you can either cinch the win or gamble a bit. If you want to gamble, put sabotender in top right corner and pray he doesn't put anything in the middle. If he does, you lose. Put bomb in middle. Watch everything flip. Profit!
4. The only problem with privately-queued chocobo races is that you can't spectate a race.
5. Roger that. It'll probably be sometime around 7 PM CST.
6. They're doing emergency maintenance tonight to address the getting in issue.
7. Unfortunately I'm at work and have a few appointments this afternoon but later in the evening I can get you in if someone else hasn't. I can get Chachan as well, if'n you like.
8. Alrighty, if I catch you on I'll shoot you an invite.
9. -Sits down with a Nos to read-
10. I may see about playing with this. After I explore it a bit first.
11. I dislike playing underpowered players, and I have a small selection of overpowered characters that I keep in a box for when the nuclear option is required. As for my characters here, they're all simply 'powered'. They have areas where they excel, they also have areas where they're about as useful as a box of rocks. Of the seven of them, one is legitimately high on the power scale (relatively), but she spends her time sitting in the Quicksand writing in a notebook.
12. You would say that now that I look at my character list and realize I have all of them hanging out in the Gridania/Ul'dah area.
13. I wonder where, exactly, Ganale would fall in that hierarchy ladder. He's an Ul'dahn citizen and former member of the Flames, but is a mercenary now under a permanent contract and has a day job mining for Amajina and Sons. My other characters are much simpler. Chao and Seno, the two who have anything to do with Ul'dah at all, are both refugees, and Seno is nominally a member of the Flames, but neither of them have a dog in the Ul'dahn race, as it were.
14. Though I prefer to consider them noble antagonists, I do have a bounty hunter character and his just-formed guild of bounty hunters, should someone ever decide that your character needs a price on her head.
15. Agreed. I had to shoehorn R'tahz into becoming a delivery boy just to give him an excuse to go to Ul'dah.
16. R'tahz's voice sample, image song, and preferred tune all in one go: 8EYVepDBAC0 Same as all the above for Garon: fBaIdu3spg0 And all of the same for Ganale: o_l4Ab5FRwM
17. Aye, excusing gear as replicas is pretty common. My ex-Flames guy has an exceptionally-crafted axe that was made to look like the Bravura, and my miqo'te (main) wears a set of armor that just looks like the wyrm set, and later went out and commissioned a replica of the Gae Bolg. His WAR set is a bit trickier, as in the WAR quests, Curious Gorge states that he wants to teach the WAR arts again, and implies that he'll eventually do that I play R'tahz's WAR training as though he got that training from Gorge because Gorge has started training marauders, so the WAR armor he wears is still a replica of the ancient raiments, but was given to him by Gorge.
18. D= Sorry, I'll restrain myself to just getting people who ask. I got over-excited about the potential of networking and getting some RP going with other Doman characters. Gwannes, if you're still interested and got the space, I'll try to catch you again sometime this afternoon.
19. [Two pieces of parchment are attached to the notice boards in taverns, market places, and adventurers' guilds across the realm, the first clearly marketed to prospective bounty hunters.] [The second parchment is a clear advertisement of services, and seems penned by a different hand.]
20. The Bounty Hunters' Guild, Apex, is now open for business! Drop a line here or catch one of our charter members in-game to join! Or post a bounty. We take those, too.
21. Apex is firstly a linkshell and secondly an organization focused on the bounty hunters of Eorzea and their targets. In-character, it functions as a communication device for the bounty hunters of the realm to aid one another. Out-of-character, it exists as a tool for bounty hunters and personages with prices on their head to organize roleplay and communicate with one another. In-Character Community... Apex exists to provide sanctum, security, and fellowship to a particular service sector in Eorzea. You know who you are. The tireless tracker who pursues their quarry through desert expanses, island wilderness, and urban jungles, and always delivers on their contracts. You’re a bounty hunter, and your word is your bond. And you’ve no doubt noticed the significant lack of a support structure for those who share your occupation. Apex seeks to rectify this. In seeking to provide a banner under which Eorzea’s bounty hunters can unite, Apex looks to provide the same sort of resources, support, and trusted expertise available from any of the other various guilds and companies of the realm. Licensed and legally recognized by the city-states of Ul’dah, Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, Ishgard, and the adventurers’ guild of Revenant’s Toll, bounty hunters of Apex have the necessary freedom to pursue their acquisitions through any territory considered friendly to the Eorzean Alliance without fear of undue interference from local law enforcement. We aim to provide first right of access to bounties before they are posted with the city levemetes. And last but not least, the professional courtesy of Apex means that you need not fear another licensed hunter interfering with your pursuit, as well as a near-guarantee of assistance should it be needed. So if you’re a bounty hunter tired of being considered the scum of the realm, consider the fellowship and advantages of Apex and request membership to the linkshell from a charter member. Out-of-Character Communication... Apex exists to aid and help both the players of bounty hunters and bounties organize and develop roleplay. Both kinds of players are welcome. As such, the Apex linkshell is both in-character and out-of-character. In-character communication is strictly limited to those who have been given a linkpearl in-character and is limited to bounty hunters that join the Apex organization in-character. In-character, the linkshell is to be considered as the Eorzean equivalent to a military radio frequency that all our hunters can use to communicate to one another. Out-of-character communication is used to facilitate roleplay between hunters and hunted and all chat is welcome. That being said, any usage of in-character information that your character is not privy to will be responded to harshly. Please be sure that, when you are using the linkshell, you make it abundantly clear whether you are speaking in-character or out-of-character, using some form of clear indicator such as (text) for out-of-character remarks. Information... Apex is a role-playing organization. We are not involved with the in-game hunting of elite marks. Please do not mistake our purpose and please seek a different linkshell for these purposes. We do not charge real money or in-game currency to involve yourself in role-play with us or post a bounty. If you have submitted a contract to us and someone claiming to be of Apex approaches you seeking an actual trade of money or gil, decline and report the incident to a leader of Apex. The default style of in-character combat for Apex is freeform, wherein one combatant takes a reasonable number of actions in a turn and are answered by a reasonable number of actions from their opponent, but players are free to use other methods such as dice if all parties agree to do so. Godmodding and meta-gaming are never allowed. Infractions will be handled on a case-by-case basis, and we will strive to provide corrective support on the issue, rather than straight-up banning. Repeated offenses with no obvious efforts to improve will result in removal from Apex. Please separate in-character issues from out-of-character relations. We do not want out-of-character soap operas interfering with having a good time and getting paid for acquiring a bounty. If you have an actual, non-roleplay-related issue with a member of the linkshell, deal with it in an appropriate manner away from your fellow members. Contacting & Joining... To join the Apex linkshell, please contact one of the names below to receive an invite. Chris Ga'nale Devilish Sarracenia Garon Crayson Gunnbjorn Darkblade Vervara Rozthan
22. He explicitly stated this has happened when the chat logs weren't surging with activity.
