Why do people RP around the MSQ? [Post 2.55 Spoilers]
Chris Ganale replied to Magellan's topic in RP Discussion
Three of my eight characters would even be affected by it. One is an ex-Flames veteran and from Ul'dah, so obviously he's going to be greatly affected by the events, especially when the Syndicate is starting to drive smaller businesses into the ground since that means they're going to be coming after his employer/love interest. And that's not going to end well for whatever Syndicate lackey and his mook troop of Blades shows up to close her down. Another character has no care at all for Ul'dah, but is keenly interested in the Dragonsong War because his father-figure mentor is a guard captain of House Fortemps, and was originally slated to die at the Steps of Faith until I played it and realized it wasn't the massive defeat I was expecting it to be. Still working on tweaking that story. My only other character that would be 'affected' is only really going to be 'affected' by it in that it won't take her long to add up the numbers and realize that the Syndicate has either done in or flat usurped the sultanate and is attempting to seize control of Ul'dah. But she doesn't care and it doesn't truly have an affect on her because she's got her hands full dealing with Garlean assassins. And is going, "Huh, glad I decided to move out when I did." The other five? They'd be hard-pressed to even notice shady shit going on in the Desert Jewel, as they're all in plots in Limsa or Gridania. -

I can't disagree with that sentiment, especially given lalabro in Horizon as proof of it. Which is why my stance on the Blades isn't "shank on sight", but rather "shank if accosted." -
Good luck dragging them up through all of MSQ so they can even access the new classes.

Ganale will be a DRK mechanically because greatswords, but he also has emotional issues from various things which could prompt a swerve in that direction. On the other hand, negative feelings don't seem to be a driving factor in 14 DRKs.

How would you change your favourite class/job?

I as much as anyone want to hope that Momodi had nothing to do with it, but you can't deny that the logic is sound. The simple fact of the matter is that I put a very, very short list of NPCs above all suspicion: Tataru, Alphinaud, the Scions, Ol' Eyepatch (Riol), Yugiri/the Domans, and Raubahn. Twice in a row have I fallen for trusting new NPCs only to have them backstab in the worst possible manner. It shan't happen again. I don't even trust Pipin. The city just needs to have its filth purged with fire. -

If the dravanians feel that they're wholly innocent in a war that has spanned a millennium, then fuck them on principle. It takes two to tango. Disclaimer: I again reiterate that I'm not at all soft on Ishgard, in fact fuck them for being zealot bastards. The fuck them is equal if they feel themselves to be the innocent party. There is only one innocent party in the whole affair: the civilians who would be slaughtered if the city were overrun. As far as the other conflicts, my stance is very simple: You fuck with me or mine, I dedicate my whole being to ending you. -

"An eye for an eye, and the whole world is blind." While it's utterly hypocritical of me to even take the 'peaceful' side of this discussion, there is no way a Kill 'Em All mentality will end the cycle of hatred. Unless you kill all of them and anyone who has ever befriended them. Case in point: R'tahz. He's from Limsa for gods' sake, has no stake in the Dragonsong War whatsoever, and even is less than sympathetic to Ishgard because they put a death mark on him. However, his mentor is Ishgardian, and my original plan had been for him to die at the Steps of Faith, thereby sparking a roaring rampage of revenge from Tahz. I have to rework a few things because Steps of Faith was a proper vIctory, but the point still stands. -

This was brought up by my group last night, and it bears merit in that I didn't realize we were being set up to take the fall until I was reading the item description before handing it over to Momodi, something to the tune of a cloudy vial that no longer has its contents, and then she said we should hold onto it. It hit me, at exactly that moment, that I just had the poison planted on me. That said, I don't believe that Momodi is a mustachio-twirling, card-carrying sycophant shithead of the Syndicate. I feel as though she's an unwilling accomplice, forced to partake of the plot because of the ease with which the Monetarists can swiftly make her business into an economic crater. Of course, take my endorsement of Momodi with a bucket of salt: I bought Teledji and ill-bred's acts right up until they showed their true colors. -

To be absolutely safe, only talk about it with people you know have finished the story. Even in my own group we couldn't freely talk about everything until about an hour ago. We still have one who isn't caught up but he doesn't get on often so that's less a worry. -

Never stated that they wouldn't rise that size of a force. And the Blades have already increased their presence by about a hundredfold in the city, and that has made people uneasy with all appearances being of an out-and-out takeover. FCs and adventurers see the Goblet as their place, the place they can go in this fucked up world to have a sense of safety and security. And suddenly a couple hundred Brass Blades in full battle rattle come stomping through? Would the entire Goblet rise up in revolt? That's idealistic thinking on my part. But would they be allowed to pass unmolested? That is, as they say in the game, aurochs shite. -

The problem with Bluefog is it's heavily-populated by people trying to level. The OOC logic of using a private house in the Goblet is clear on that, but I do agree that the chance of the Blades trying (key term) to crash it is high. However, they would have to be monumentally retarded if they believe they would pass unmolested through the homes and neighborhoods of free companies and adventurers. To even have a hope of being able to survive the thrashing they'd get from the locals, on top of having to face the armed and angry loyalists in the building, they would have to mount an expedition so massive that its movements could not possibly be missed, allowing us plenty of time to slip away, and therefore rendering all the men they lost just trying to get to the location an utter waste. But I actually like the thought of those fucks bleeding for no gain. -

They would, but as was stated, the Goblet is not Blades land. It's adventurers' law there, and it'd be as bad or worse for the Blades trying to make headway there as it was for the US military at the height of the insurgency. The difference here being that the Blades don't have near the military and technological advantage that the US military did, nor are they too keen on waging a hearts and minds campaign alongside. -

Well, if you want to be out a character... Something tells me that a monetarist football, even with a COMPANY of Brass Blades, would get wrecked. -

The only problem is that she's a bloody idiot if she honestly believes "the sins of the fathers, pass down to the son, and that's how the cycle is broken." No, you obtuse twit, that's how you propagate the cycle of hatred. -
