[08/21 8PM EST] Blazing Hearts! The Date Auction of an Era!
kharnlol replied to Meishali's topic in Chronicled Events
Come to the auction this Sunday at 5pm PST/8pm EST and you may get the chance to date one ascot-wearing sky pirate! We'd love to see everyone out and participating! -
If your character is a Sky Pirate brigand that often gets involved with the crime u pat the Sea of Clouds (House Haillenarte's territory), would you guys be interested in having a crew of pirates being rivals to your FC or used in plots and storylines for potential events?

Roleplayer Uncertainty/Insecurity Theater
kharnlol replied to Warren Castille's topic in Character Workshop
One of my biggest insecurities with RP is the fear of people potentially taking my character's abrasiveness or sarcastic demeanor out of context. I've had to take issue time and time again with people assuming that just because my pirate is an asshole or harsh, that I also am such. It's rare, but it has happened to me quite enough times to make me fear acting out his usual sarcasm around random roleplayers. Also, not typing fast enough to accommodate anyone roleplaying with me. I always feel a pressure to not take my time, because I wish to entertain my partner at that moment quick enough to get the most out of the interaction. I guess this can be considered akin to rushing. -
Snagging Minox/Surilian :^) refs for Orenji here and here. My artwork for further references is here.

Yes! Sky Pirates are amazing! My FC and I are all sky pirates and have been roleplaying such since 2.5! It's funny that you mention a Sky Pirate LS, since we are currently making one for the public to network all sky pirate roleplay together! Anyone may join, and feel free to shoot Orenji Kharn or Flynt Reddard a tell in-game to interact!

Compliments Galore! Compliment The Poster Above You!
kharnlol replied to Y'lani's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Red is probably the best haircolor in the game and Aiswynd's character has it. There's also a dragon on his shoulder, that's pretty rad. I enjoy reading various forum posts that exist by said person too. -
1. I can make the mistake of not taking RP situations too serious enough. Often times, I simply just don't get immersed to the mood of the current grimdark scene and Orange'll say something stupid/sarcastic/downright rude as far as timing and context goes, and I'll miss it because I just wasn't there in the first place. Sometimes I find it comedic. I apologize ahead of time for not being honest in my boredom or not paying attention. 2. I was once easily manipulated by an RP partner to blend IC/OOC and support their decisions even when I knew they were in the wrong. This lead to the downfall of an FC and me being forced to a retire a character that I loved dearly, so in the end, nobody got out alive RPwise. Sadly, I'm ashamed to admit that this is apart of the past of certain people that have posted in this thread. I just want to say that I'm sorry for not using my brain and breaking the 'bros before hoes' mentality or trying to play devil's advocate for everyone and becoming nothing but a bystander to the drama apocalypse. Sadly, this event has scarred me and made me more paranoid/bitter in terms of trusting other individuals, and I admit that I have a static amount of officers in my new FC because I'm afraid that I'm going to make a dumb decision. So I leave it up to our parliament to help me. Shit like this has made me take RP way less seriously and favor more lighter (comedic/mildly actiony) scenes than other plotlines. It's also very hard for me to enter my character into a romance because I've become a highly critical person OOCly and my first thoughts will go to, "How is this going to fail?" I guess I'm sorry to all of my bros that are with me in the present and all of the friends I lost in the past. I've made my poor decisions and have gone to such great lengths to ensure they wont ever happen again. But alas, that wont reverse how I've affected certain people.

Don't make me draw Nat.
-
Yo. So I got a tablet recently and I can't draw for shit. However, I strive to one day make a professional career out of art, so I thought it's never too late to be passionate about what you love. Bear with me, because I'm new and I have free artistic expression to shit all over my friends, so I'm going to draw personally for my own enjoyment and see if I can one day improve and take it seriously. I will update this frequently, enjoy. Perhaps I'll even expand to tumblr and DA, shit like that. Right now, I'll expose my picassos for the RPC to enjoy. OC Donut Steel, Pls credit: Art for Fun:

[Spoilers] Dark Knights, Am I the Only One?
kharnlol replied to -no longer matters-'s topic in RP Discussion
The first DRK didn't initially have it. Darkness (The Abyss) is inside of everyone, Fray says this himself. It's Dark Knights that apply themselves (or have a soul crystal) that can harness the darkness within. It's not genetics. It's aether. This form of Dark Knights is unique to Ishgard as far as Eorzeans know, but there's nothing explicitly stating it couldn't have existed anywhere else, because being a dark knight is a philosophy that incites the power, not a 'literal' class unless you can actually channel the abyss. However, yes, to be taught you'd have to learn from an Ishgardian that is one, loot a crystal from a dead body, or be so into being a knight that you go full murder-batman (I guess that'd be the Punisher) that you develop the power of your own accord while being fucked in the process. I'm sure there are other ways, but it takes creativity and a lot of strict attentiveness to the lore that is presented until more comes out (probably with the zodiac questline.) -

This is one of the most important things to take from what I posted as well. -
I'm not even sure I understand this or have seen this. But I live in New York City which is quickly becoming the next China as far as population, so I may just not give a fuck.

[Spoilers] Dark Knights, Am I the Only One?
kharnlol replied to -no longer matters-'s topic in RP Discussion
The first Dark Knight didn't have the power of darkness starting out. If he did, it's not explicitly stated. Dark Knights were first formed in their philosophy of being able to risk everything they had without consequence: To uphold justice at any cost, which is a more gruesomely necessary outlook to being a knight or paladin of your oaths. This being what literally dubs them as a dark knight, which sparked the first one taking it as a title of his trade. The result of being able to hold belief/emotions so passionate to uphold your duty is what sparks the darkness within you. Then there's the contrary of Fray's, who is much more vague: Sidurgu's creed, which he utters if you walk by him during the Moogle Fetch Quest you're sent upon is: "Strength is Pain, Strength is Suffering, Strength is Sacrifice." This could very well be assumed, if it wasn't explicitly implied, to be an indoctrinated Dark Knight's code. However, it seems too oddly specific in regards to what Dark Knights are capable of in regards to their motivation. Logically, it might be this creed that spawned the first dark knight's darkside. Those three things being a staple in what garners their power. It's not explicitly confirmed, if it was, we wouldn't have this conversation. But, given the trend Final Fantasy has with older Dark Knights and the ones in this game, it wouldn't be surprising if that's what harnessed the abyss for atleast the first knight to do so. That's the price they must all pay to uphold their oaths. *Lore Sources: - Sidurgu's NPC, located in the Forgotten Knight, Ishgard. - Lv. 30, Ishgardian Justice - Lv. 58, The Flame in the Abyss -
Sky Pirates have been a thing that's gotten me and my FC's dick hard for awhile now. Fuck yes!

- Did you have any of these "roleplayer crushes"? y/n, is it just me, being a creepy nugget? Lucaell is my RP crush senpai that only notices me in PvE content. However, there are people whose wikis have really stood out to me and made me want to whisper them. Sometimes I'll give them a creepy compliment thinly veiled beneath a "N-nice wiki, bro. We should chat sometime." - How do you handle these? Do you just send an aggressive PM/tell with things like "you, me, RP, 8PM EST"? Honestly, setting up a meeting with that sort of assertiveness can be effective. Whether people find it ironic, funny, or creepy, that sort of thing works in real life too (depending on the context of the meeting.) - Stories to share? Bonus points for embarrassing things. F-fuck. - Did senpai notice you, when you started emoting at them very very loudly? They noticed me when I macro'ed very loudly. - Just how excited do you get when plotting with these new people, and realize they love your ideas and bring even more material on the table? In terms of making new roleplay friends, it's always exciting to conjure up new ideas and learn how creatively articulate people can be with their writings. When I share general interests with others, it feels extremely immersive and (for once) like we're all in the same nice community. - Did like, once, this person was actually pretty awful and you regretted everything? Happened to me more than I'd like to admit, BUT, I still keep on pushing. Flynt, you fucking bas- Honestly, not yet. More often or not, people I hold active interest in roleplaying with is because they aren't actively awful.

Lore Question: Soulstones and how to acquire them.
kharnlol replied to Lumizumi's topic in Lore Discussion
It was the interaction of touching the crystal that sparked a connection between you and Fray. However, While I'm not necessarily disagreeing with the aforementioned statement, Fray does give some heavy implications on the necessity of the soul crystal. (I hate that we're calling them soulstones in a game where crystals are relevant, we're not Warlocks from WoW.) *Lore Source(s): (lv. 50) Our End (lv. 30) Ishgardian Justice Edit: Fixed typos and added more lore tidbits. Dark Knight has been my favorite class since Leon Lionheart. -

As Nataru knows, I'm a hardcore Gundam fan. I've watched every series and have attempted to collect most manga serializations of Frozen Teardrop and the new GBF one that stars Tatsuya as the main character. Char is my waifu, his voice actor does the voice acting for JP Lahabrea, and thus that ascian also became my fave. I can't help but make tons of references to him in my RP. Hell, the Kharn Kick™ is heavily inspired by him from even the days of Orenji's father. My favorite MS is, of course, the Char's Zaku II.
