Picture by Yangh WHAT: Moggle Mog Hard and Pool Party! WHEN: August 31st SEPTEMBER 1ST 3:00 p.m. EDT WHERE: Meet up at Mhi Khetto's Amphitheater in Old Gridania You will be greeted by a Lalafell who will give you the code phrase "OH THE FORESTS OF GRIDANIA SURE HAVE CHANGED!" The proper response is "BUT THE OWLS ARE STILL AROUND!" With two primals defeated, and data collected from the body of a victim of tempering, the mysterious cabal behind these missions are curious about the more esoteric nature of primals. Primarily, their creation. The more they know about how a primal comes to be, they reason, the better a deterrent they can be in the primal threat once and for all. This is why they have turned their eye on Good King Moggle Mog XII, who appears to be a primal in its infancy brought about by the belief of the moogle community. And as a thank you for your support, Captain Himalspyr invites everyone up to The Hermit's Hovel in Outer La Noscea for a party! Come hang out, play in the water, and join us in a light-hearted celebration of summer's end. Enjoy it while you can, for dark times approach. After what were two pretty intense (and SUCCESSFUL!) events, we want to shift gears and have something that will hopefully leave you guys laughing. After many requests of a more EU Friendly time, I've set the time to 3:00 p.m. EDT (My timezone), which I believe puts the event to about 8:00 p.m. in England and later in other parts of Europe. EU players, let me know if this is OK! I am willing to move the time to be as inclusive as possible. I know last time there was a bit of a SNAFU with the time. Event begins at 3:00 pm EDT! I put the end at 8:00 p.m., but the party stops when the party stops. POOL PARTY!

ABSOLUTELY THIS! I actually wrestled with Dogberry losing his legs for a bit, because I didn't want the plot to be too much about MY character ME ME ME. But then I realized that Dogberry's main motivation would have had less emotional impact if nobody had been there to see it. People will view things that happen later in an entirely different light if they've been there, or know exactly what happened. I try to at least give people something to work with when Dogberry's in the spotlight, and be ready to pass it on when someone else wants it.

I've found the key to getting a plot running is to get really excited about it, and the best way to do that is to find someone to talk to about it. Find someone you can trust not to reveal anything, tell them about your ideas, and listen to their input. I find that kind of collaboration gets me really pumped about running plots. In the case of the plot I'm running now, I've combined the ambitions of my character with the ambitions of Stormwind's character, to come together for a common purpose. He and I talk about the plot quite a bit. It's also useful to have someone else to help run the plot, because managing it on your own is a tough job. Who better to help out than someone just as invested in the plot as you are? Likeminded people are the key, at least for me. I've always felt, even around the tabletop, that good RP is like improvisational jazz. You all pick a key and lay your own track down in harmony with everyone else. You wanna make some Jazz, Hornet, I play a mean bass.

AAAAAAAHHHH! I want to take a time out here, and talk about how much fun I've been having when Dogberry ends up babysitting Laufuli. Their constant little petty arguments, and her constant bragging and posturing, which Dogberry MUST humor, have entertained me for the last week or so during Dogberry's "vacation". We MUST RP moar! -

OMG WAITAMINUTE DO YOU PLAY FULI?! LAUFULI THE BEST LALAFELL?! -
Hi! Glad to hear RP is coming up elsewhere besides Balmung and Gilgamesh! I've seen other threads about it, like on Leviathan and Phoenix, and it always makes me glad to know there's more RP out there. It's got to the point where Balmung and Gilgamesh have put a limit on new characters being made. With the game still growing, I think that these forums can be a useful resource for RPers on all servers.

What if... Dogberry was a better father? The boy swung his practice sword at Dogberry's leg like a botanist chopping at a tree, but he could not bring him down. "Good shot," Dogberry said. To the boy it seemed like he never felt pain. "But your blows are weak. Put your hip into it. Stop swinging at me, swing through me." Dogberry stepped back and readied his spear at the boy. The boy put his guard up, shield in and to his chest, sword up and ready. They touched their weapons together as a sign of respect. Seeing the boy like this made Dogberry swell up with pride. Quickly he struck at the outside edge of the boy's shield, and the shield opened outward like a barn door. With a slight movement of Dogberry's hands, the other end of the spear came quickly toward the boy, but was parried away by his sword. The boy took the opportunity to close with Dogberry, which forced him to choke up on his spear. The boy kicked at the spear, and Dogberry's left hand came loose from it. Before he could react, Dogberry found the edge of the boy's shield pressed against his right shoulder. He tried to swing at the boy, but was only connecting with his shield. The sword connected repeatedly with his right side and thigh, and the boy's forward momentum soon pushed Dogberry backward. He dropped the spear and flailed with his arm as he lost his balance and went town. He looked up at the boy, his own son, to find him pointing a sword at his face, smirking. "Good!" Dogberry said, and the boy let down his guard. "You fought smart, that was excellent. But..." The boy groaned, but Dogberry talked over him. "BUT you need more strength training." "Dad!" The boy protested. "That's like all I ever do!" "Such hyperbole," Dogberry said. "I need you to go to the well and bring us four buckets of water. The Old Man is making a stew, so we need more than usual. Then I want you to go help him cut up some popotos, carrots and onions. Then you're free to do whatever the hells it is you during the day. And after dinner we're going to read." The boy shot him a look of complaint. "More math..." The boy muttered. "I was planning on reading you an adventure story, one about a mad captain on a quest for revenge against the sea itself," he said. "But if you'd prefer math..." "No!" The boy shouted, and Dogberry laughed. "Good," Dogberry said. "Now I think that's enough roughhousing for today, don't you think?" "Yes, sir!" The boy nodded, still panting from the fight. "Tomorrow can I try archery?" "Archery?" Dogberry looked perplexed. "I don't know much about archery. Why d'you wanna learn archery?" "Nellemond said Roegadyn can't do archery," The boy said, sounding angry. "I want to prove him wrong." "Then prove him wrong we will," Dogberry said. "I'll see if I can't get a friend of mine to help us. Now c'mon, Rhutshald, let's go home. I have to get back to the carpenter's guild." He put his hand on his son's shoulder and walked back toward Gridania. It wasn't Dogberry's favorite place in the world, but it was the perfect place to raise a child.

Part of Fuli's training, I see I can't help but wonder what Fuli would have said when Dogberry was telling people to "reach in and win a prize." -

First off, I said with 'all due respect' and 'there was nothing wrong with it in general'. The basis was that RP be pushed outwards. You for whatever reason, see it as an attempt to hop off and be unethical. Perhaps you should look elsewhere before you feel like 'smashing your computer' over a character concept? Saying "with all due respect" and "there's nothing wrong with it in general" doesn't excuse you from behaving like a complete bastard. And honestly, I can see now it's not so much your character concept I have a problem with, but you.

Another thread by Gus, another flame war. If you feel tavern RP is trite and monotonous, I can't help but wonder why you'd start a monthly tavern event.

Your Character's Weapons/Artifacts and How They Acquired Them

I see your machine gun leg and raise you a... Those only shoot bullets. What you need are crotch-shot laser blasts so potent that they fertilize and create LIFE. (click on the video title to view on YouTube) Yeah, I've been experimenting with a crotch mounted weapon that creates life a lot. Since I was 12, actually. I'll let you know how future experiments go. It should be a lot easier now that I have a lab partner. -
We're here! We huge! Get used to it!

Your Character's Weapons/Artifacts and How They Acquired Them
Dogberry replied to Dat Oni's topic in Character Workshop
Dogberry uses a billhook, a medieval weapon that throughout the ages has killed more people than smallpox. It's simple, it's functional, it works. Though Dogberry is primarily a bare knuckle boxer kind of guy, he does have a pair of ornate brass knuckles he's quite fond of. -

Dogberry's been on vacation in Ul'dah, and the majority of what he's done is chase skirts and babysit Laufuli. Here he is doing both at the same time. Girls like a guy who's good with kids, right? Oh, and he spent some time at the pillar. -

Poor Dogberry... he should go find Hornet. She'll help him forget his troubles...:love::love: Of course this means she'll beat him into a coma and when he wakes up he won't recall his own name, let alone his heartbreak. doesn't matter; had sex
