  1. Just think of Dogberry like that unpleasant and bloody pain that comes along every month, but it only lasts one night.
  2. It's been a part of my character's personal story arc for a while now that he's keen to grapple with Leviathan. However, I've put off organizing the event and trying to dance around the schedules of those involved. I realize now that if I schedule it, people will come. And due to the nature of developments in RP, primal hunting is very much a thing he is keen on. But Dogberry is only one man. He cannot take on the primals alone. He needs able hands, fierce warriors, and powerful mages. Syldra's Revenge seeks brave souls who would throw themselves into oblivion for the chance to kill a god. One night each month, we seek out a primal. If more than 8 should join us, we will incorporate side adventures and coordinated assaults to allow a variety of RP situations. The plan is to run the Hard Modes of each primal, with special Extreme modes thrown in occasionally for extra challenge and higher IC stakes. I'm shooting for a regular schedule of the last Sunday night of the month, starting this weekend if there's interest. I certainly hope there is. I want the event to be a space for each player to use in their own RP goals while telling its own story. One of ambition, revenge, and making maybe a few too many deals with a few too many devils.
  3. Okamoto Hideki You are Okamoto Hideki! This is the name we will call you in public. Your private name shall be Usul, which is the strength of the base of the pillar.
  4. Damn skippy. Stand your ground, Quicksand goers! That shouldn't be hard considering how sticky the floor is in that place! I stand with you in brotherly solidarity!
  5. I've noticed the people congregating there, and have even RP'd openly out there lately, but I haven't been griefed. How new is this development, 'cause it was only last week I was RPing there. I mean, granted, people were scooting around in their skivvies and stuff, but they were people I know to be RPers or RP friendly. Even Dogberry was in his skivvies, putting himself up on some apparent kind of meat market for kicks.
  6. Hello, and welcome! I hope you enjoy the game and the RP here! Just curious, as I can not speak or read Japanese, what am I supposed to call you?
  7. There was that guy that came up with unsolicited advice to us the other day, Hornet, that was pretty lulsy. Pretty much the closest thing I've seen to griefing in a long time. There was also that one time someone was trying to grief us by pretending she was a damsel in distress and her friend got really mad at me for mentioning labor unions as a way of deflecting her. Dude RAGED at me when I was like "Union break. Can't help you. Go down to the local 133 and they'll set you up." What a scab! Happened a few months ago, though. I've been kinda surprised at how little I've been griefed.
  8. You guys an LS or an FC? I ask because I'd love to RP with you pernicious scallywags, but I'm perfectly happy with my FC and don't wish to jump ship.
  9. I find that my characters tend to be broken people, picking up the pieces and trying to find their way in the world. They've either encountered a personal tragedy that shattered their illusions, or, in one case, were too young to understand the ramifications of what they strove to be and suffered the consequences all the same. They often have self-destructive tendencies related to vices or personal alienation and trouble relating to others. They are often convinced their problems are unique to them. I don't really know what that says about me as a person that I seem to enjoy playing characters like that. You can make a wide range of characters with that framework, and each one seems compelling to me.
  10. [video=youtube] The sleeper has awakened! Ya hya chouhada! Muad'dib!
  11. Breeding programs like this have been attempted by both the Bene Tleilax and the Bene Gesserit. The Bene Tleilax reported moderate success, and I think we all remember what happened when the Bene Gesserit realized their kwisatz haderach. Here lies a toppled god His fall was not a small one We did but build his pedestal A narrow and a tall one.
  12. Half-Elf powah! I've had a soft spot for Half-Elves ever since I played in a D&D campaign with an original setting that included Half-Elves as being a unique ethnicity, where originally elves and humans bred, but for the last several generations they were predominantly half-elves breeding with half-elves. They were repressed by nearby elven and human governments, and my character was "knighted" as a paladin of Corellon the night before a political demonstration that became extremely violent and forced him to leave the country. I loved playing that character so much. So yeah. half-elves, please. Also I'd love to see a Lala'qote. Tiny little cat thing. I picture it looking like a Samurai Pizza Cat.
  13. [video=youtube] Back before Tifa ran the 7th Heaven bar, it belonged to a hottie named Vanity.
  14. Oh man, RPing this would be interesting. We dive through ancient Allagan ruins, deteating horrible monsters from before time itself and dodge deadly traps set for us and what are the fruits of our labors? Clothing! No, let's overlook all the other useful and valuable artifacts that could expand our civilization and make us filthy rich. Those shoes are just to DIE for!
  15. I'll probably do CT 2 pretty heavily at first. If you need a fist or a lance or whatever, lemme know. I've said for a long time that the real challenge in CT isn't the dungeon itself, it's the Human Condition.
  16. I might pick up Mirror's Edge. I've heard mixed things about it, but at that price I can overlook some stuff.
  17. The kids were putting on a play at Mhi Khetto's ampitheater, or rehearsing for one, or just making it up as they went. Dogberry wasn't really sure. He was watching them play from across the way. Mostly he fixated on the blonde Roegadyn boy. The tallest of the bunch, for sure. He could pass for a teenage Highlander if not for his gray skin. The boy was eight, about to turn nine. Dogberry knew this because he remembered the day the boy was born. He paced outside for hours while Laughing Bird was in labor. His mother and sisters banished him from the room. When he heard his son crying for the first time, he burst into the room to see Laughing Bird holding this little ball of gray skin and blonde fluff. And here was this boy, too big to hold now. Dogberry was then suddenly aware of the other adults watching the children from across the way, much like he was. A friendly Elezen lady approached him. "Are you here watching Rhutshald?" she asked. Dogberry looked up. "Rhutshald Styrseigsyn?" she clarified when he looked confused. "Yeah," he said once he could collect himself. "Rhutshald Styrseigsyn. I'm his family. Just visiting." "That's really nice," she said. "Styrseig and I go way back. I assume you're her brother-in-law?" "Brother, actually." Dogberry said, sounding embarassed. "That's funny, she's never mentioned another brother." The lady sounded suspicious. "No, she just has the one," Dogberry said, going from embarassed to annoyed. "Oh, so you're Daghbheri," the lady said, her face gaining a look of recognition. "Oh, I'm sorry, where are my manners? I'm Marigleise." They shook hands. "You know, we've always wondered why Rhutshald bares his mother's name," she said. "Why don't you ask her?" Dogberry asked, dismissively. "Oh, I wouldn't dare!" Marigleise laughed. "It's a touchy subject with her. Of course, I'm just curious. I know so little about Sea Wolf culture." Dogberry didn't really want to dignify that with a response. Marigleise got the hint and took a few steps away, still watching her own child. He sat, arms crossed watching Rhutshald, but Styrseig's continuing parade of disrespect ate at him. He watched his own boy, and thought about the choices he had to make. None of them were easy decisions, but he felt he at least had acted in the boy's best interest. Didn't he deserve a place in the boy's life? Anger welled up in his chest. "Marigleise!" He nearly roared out. She jumped and looked over at him. "Uh, sorry," he apologized, bowing his head to her. "That came out stronger than I intended." "Fine, fine," she said. "Y'wanna know the truth about that boy's name?" He asked. "His name ain't Rhutshald Styrseigsyn. It's Rhutshald Daghbherisyn." Dogberry stood while the elezen woman was in obvious shock, and made his way off toward New Gridania.
  18. [video=youtube] "Angry Young Man" by Billy Joel. If this song hadn't been written before I was born, I'd swear it was about me not too long ago.
  19. For the sake of all involved, and all of you innocent bystanders, I'm going to say yes.
  20. I bang on the fourth wall all the time. I've directly quoted Monkey Island in context while in character before. I know it breaks immersion for some, but it amuses me. I do this for a couple of reasons: 1. The actual Final Fantasy series does it A LOT. Seriously HOW many times has Square made Star Wars jokes in a Final Fantasy game? Biggs, Wedge, Celes' rescue, the main cast of FFXII... And that's only off the top of my head. The FF games play with the fourth wall a lot, so it's something I consider genre appropriate when RPing in a FF game. 2. I find it funny, and I hope others do as well because I love to make people laugh. Why are we doing this if not to have a good time? I'm going to make the effort to be as entertaining as possible, and sometimes that might call for a joke. I do understand my sense of humor might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I have no control over that.
  21. Hornet is easily one of the best looking characters I've seen (and best-looking roe.) OK, I'll just be over here with the chopped liver. B-b-but, Dogberry! H-he, uhmn. He has o-one.. uhmn.. His name is cool. So totally cool. I appreciate the sentiment, love, but you ain't foolin' anyone.

  23. It was a dirt BIKE? Man, I need to get my hearing checked.
