Depending on the time of day you find her, Manari would either smell of leaves, forest soil, and fresh spring water... Or animal fur, sweat, and blood.

I just wanted to point out that the "Keepers don't have tribes" mentality is just an interpretation by people reading the wording of the naming convention lore. No where in the SE lore does it state that "Keepers do not form tribes." It states that they normally come together as smaller matriarchal communities of three or four families. There is no reason that couldn't be considered a tribe. The lore simply states that Keepers don't live in nearly as large of a group as Seekers. The smaller, secluded families don't assign tribal letters to their names either, which I suppose further causes people to believe they don't live in tribes. It's all in the way you choose to interpret it right now, as the SE lore is skimpy and vague. Under the general miqo'te lore on the official page (before you click to get the info specific to Seekers or Keepers) it mentions that the Miqo'te have hunting tribes. I don't see anything stating that Keepers don't live in tribes at all.

Miqo’te Mating Strategies Explored: a biologist’s point of view
Manari replied to Myxie Tryxle's topic in Lore Discussion
That was a hell of a piece on miqo'te culture. Very interesting theories and I pretty much agree with your thoughts on Keeper mating. I did have one thing that stuck out to me. I just wanted to know where you heard that Keepers are nomadic? If you mean they move about the Black Shroud, I suppose that's possible. But there is no mention in the lore anywhere about the Keepers of the Moon being nomads at all. I've heard that about Lalafell lore, and you could certainly argue that some Seeker tribes could be nomadic, it fits. But all the lore supports the Keepers staying pretty well rooted within the Black Shroud. Unless you mean they don't settle in just one place within the Shroud. I could see that, but I still haven't seen that stated in the lore yet. If it is in there somewhere, I would be very interested in reading about it. -
Characters in media that influence/are similar to your character!
Manari replied to Orlog's topic in RP Discussion
The character that I drew the most overall inspiration from in an SNK character that originated from the original Samurai Shodown. Her name is Nakoruru, she is a priestess of the Ainu people, and a guardian and protector of nature. She fights those who harm nature with a kodachi (a dagger), her hawk companion, and a large wolf. Nakoruru is the reason I wanted Manari to be close to nature, and also love animals. -
Manari is a Keeper, born and raised in a tribe deep in the East Shroud. There aren't many survivors of the tribe, in fact, Manari believes she and one other person are the only ones. When I wrote her story a year and a half ago, I left a few namesless survivors scattered about in case something ever came up and I needed to use one, but for the most part I don't think Manari could be from the same tribe as another player (unless said player really wanted to be from the Onai tribe which I created). However, I think that other tribes of Keepers living in the Should could easily know of each other. For example, if Manari meets someone from another Keeper tribe, they talk for a bit and Manari mentions that she was from the Onai Tribe, the other person could say something like "Oh, I remember the Onai tribe, we used to trade with them cycles ago." Or something like that. I think that could be entirely possible.

Hello there Mitari and welcome to the RPC! Our community is really blessed to have so many talented artists, and I'm sure you'll fit right in. If you don't mind me making a request, I have some references ready for my character, Manari Onai. Here they are: http://imgur.com/a/VS9QC I can't wait to see your work regardless of what it is that you are drawing!

That was beautiful Izzy. Even if it did bring back all those bad memories of beta and launch day. I'll never ever forget that sinking feeling in my heart when I realized the game was so poorly done and nearly unplayable. All of my LS mates from FFXIV (and Selene and my brother) all abandoned me in the early days, leaving me with little reason to keep playing. I kick myself for not knowing about RP yet or where to find it, it wasn't until about 1 year after launch when I found you guys on Besaid and was completely hooked on 1.0 after that. It's hard to look back on the game now and see it in such a state, but we won't have to worry about it anymore.

There is no official lore on the age and life spans of any of the races. People speculate that Lalafell live longer but it isn't officially stated in any detail. Most people just assume normal human age ranges until we get some actual information on this from SE. For example, Manari is 23 cycles old. That's based off of real life ages, because we have nothing else to go on. If you are wanting to RP a traditional Seeker of the Sun, you have a lot of freedom with where you can be born at. Typically speaking they come from the areas around Thanalan, namely the desert that we know of. But they are also known to populate La Nocsea as well. There is even a NPC Seeker tribe out in Thanalan you can go visit. Now if you wanted to be less traditional with your Seeker, then it can be from almost anywhere as long as you have a story to go along with it. Miqo'te Seekers are in literally every city state. The naming convention lore that SE gave us is all we know for certain right now, hopefully quests and further lore bombs will help us in this area. The seekers have a very different culture from any other race, so it's a pretty interesting read.

One of these things is not like the others. Manari infiltrates a poacher camp. One of these things is ALSO not like the others. Manari encounters the Rakka boys again. Manari is a sleepy Miqo'te. It must be almost daytime.

That Elezen will hold contempt for you no matter what race you are, his issue is that the adventurer is an outsider and should not insult their traditions by trying to learn them. The entire quest line does however mention that the Wildwood and the Keepers of the Moon used to have a rivalry in days past, and that some of that may remain in certain cases. If you play a traditional forestborn Wildwood or Keeper you could easily have your character hold on to that old tension for the other race. Personally, I'm looking forward to people going with the "keepers are poacher" stereotype around Manari. That will be some awesome IC drama right there. I can't wait

If you hit me up again once the beta is back up, I can tell you for sure. I can't quite remember the names of all the gear I'm wearing. I know the mask is an Ash Mask that is dyed the green color I chose for her whole outfit. Most of it is old lower level gear I had from 1.0, but I think the chest piece was actually a quest reward I got in 2.0. I played around with different gear combinations for literally hours, trying to get a look I liked, and I'm still not done yet, once the real game is out, I will be collecting all the gear I can that is allowed to be dyed so I can perfect her outfit for sure.

I spent a LOT of time this phase alone in the Shroud working on my look for my ARR RP. I'm working on Manari's IC outfit for when she goes poaching hunting at night. I came up with something that I'm pretty happy with. I think she looks like a pretty fearsome stalker of the woods.

I did this a while back and still have the pics saved.... Manari in her favorite yukata.

Here is 1.0 Manari. The lighting in 1.0 always made her hair have a green tint to it, when out in the Shroud, or Gridania. 1.0 --------------------------------------------------------------------- And here is 2.0 Manari when she came back on the Legacy server. My favorite casual RP outfit is intact, but my favorite hunting RP outfit is completely different now, even thought it's still the same pieces of gear, as illustrated in the 2nd pic above, and the 2nd pic below. 2.0(beta)

Oooh <3 I love it, Xenedra! Thank you thank you so much! She looks so mischievous, and cute. It's perfect.

I'm going to be doing something very similar to what Rhos and Ship are saying. I want my character to be a somewhat ninja-esque type of skillset. Now I haven't done anything like create a clan of ninja or studied under a ninja master, nor will I be using the title of ninja. Instead I've tried to stay within the established lore as much as possible, using it to create what I need, even if it won't be possible to have this job in-game when doing dungeons or endgame, etc. I will RP her carrying two daggers, dressing in dark colored leathers, and being a silent tracker within the Twelveswood to achieve the desired effect. So you could easily, very easily in fact, do the same thing with Red Mage. equip a sword and wear light armor or a fancy looking cloth piece with a mage hat. RP that you know a wide set of magic skills from both sets of white and black magicks. Make sure that you incorporate all apects of Red mage, the swordplay, the white magic, and the black magic in a balanced fashion without being too good at any one area. And just as I will never have Manari refer to herself as a "ninja" until that job and lore actually are put into the game, you should do the same with Red Mage. I hope that makes some sense. ^.^;

I guess I'm a little late to the party. Well here is Manari v. 2.0. She looks pretty much exactly the same as version 1.0, and that is exactly what I was going for. Here she is under the star-lit sky. Manari is a creature of the night, after all. And with an axe, not her axe, I won't get that back until next test I believe.

Ah, cool! Then I have to wonder if you'll be playing an actual male Miqo'te, since they now are playable, or if you'll still be using the female model? I know the male Miqo'te turned out much more manly than I was expecting them to. And if Arky is going to be in the Twelveswood much, it is completely likely that Manari would run into him.
-
You should! If you do I promise to hunt with you. I need reasons to keep hunting, and playing with friends is my favorite one. HR 80 and I still want to keep playing. I'm having an affair with my Great sword. The gunlance is just so much fun. Also gives me a chance to practice more with my bow skills.
-
Hey Arky! I wondered what had happened to you in 1.0. It's great to see you again and I look forward to RPing with you in 2.0. Are you going to be using the same character and story from back in 1.0?

My character will be engaging in some vigilante practices in ARR. Sometimes there will be cases of extreme vigilantism even. The way the quests and NPCs treat the slaying of brigands and other known criminals makes it seem like it's not only ok, but often rewarding to do so. So even though what Manari will be doing is wrong in most modern societies, and also very morally wounding to her personally, I'm fairly certain she would not be in any trouble by any authoritative power in Eorzea. It's kind of a shame, because being a criminal for trying to fix things would make a more interesting (and slightly more cliche) story for her.
-
No one can force you into jail time. But if your character performs a crime, and other RPers witness it or even hear of it, you will likely learn how those particular characters feel about your actions. Which could very well mean a group of other players would want to bring you to justice in one way or another. My advice is to keep it subtle and believable. All the city states have a force that keeps peace and serves justice. Assuming that you could get away open public criminal activity is probably a bit much.

Manari Onai That will be my main and my RP character. Whenever arcanist is available, I'll have an alt leveling that. Her name will be Reilah Nakuru

The group of us who left on the boat for the island did so well before the battle in Mor Dhona. We weren't there when Dalamud fell and we didn't see those who skipped fight in the battle or get sent in time. I think it makes sense that this whole hazy memory thing wouldn't even effect us in particular. As such, in my own RP, I'm going to ignore this issue entirely. Manari would not forget her friends anyway. But even for those who didn't skip and stayed in Eorzea, expecting them to just forget every person who skipped is asking a lot. However, I'm sure more lore on this issue will be made known once the 1.0 characters are able to be used in 2.0. I know we will start in a different place than new characters and NPC dialog is different for us.
