  1. Well, if my comment about my first Playstation indicates anything... a year and a half would be a super-SHORT wait for me... as I am often willing and able to wait a good 5 years or more for things if I need to. Honestly.... as a gal dipping into her late 30s... time often feels like it passes wayyyy too quickly these days any ways (5 years is how long it took me to get through college and that felt like it flew by in a blink)! I'm still rocking a ps2 c: I feel ya! *Breaks out the pong machine and pauses* Oh....maybe too far back.... *Puts back* Go Sega! *Sits on the floor playing Tiger Handheld Electronic LCD games.* Because my mom saw how much cheaper they were than the NES version.
  2. This is exactly how I feel. I didn't play Crisis Core because I wanted to be force-fed some new J-pop character who by his very nature would have to be completely inconsequential to the main story in FF7 or else they would be retconning. I played it because Zack didn't get much screen time or back story and I wanted to know more about him and his life, since everything you think Could is was actually Zack anyway. Angel I could almost forgive, he didn't bother me too much. Though I didn't like how the iconic buster sword was originally his. Not that I really ever liked that sword design to begin with, but I digress. I hated every scene in Crisis Core that contained Genesis and his terrible dialog and forced motivations. He was completely unneeded.
  3. Well I know I'm excited. Any word on when in the timeline this will take place? Who the main team will consist of? Will there be lots of Starwolf? I love Starwolf.
  4. This. I couldn't agree more. I played Crisis Core because I was honestly interested in Zack, and I really wanted to see how they handled his end. But I wasn't expecting the mountain of filler crap they heaped into the game. Mostly caused by Genesis. He was a terrible addition.
  5. Do you know where sailors hang out? I played Shenmue on my Dreamcast and I finished it. But I wasn't enough of a fan to get the second one. I'm glad that so many people care and are going to get the 3rd game. It's rough that the game never got its conclusion.
  6. I also had a few very similar things typed out, but I deleted them because this is a FFVII thread and I felt like I'd just be creating an argument. Personally, I blame the era that FFVI was released along with the... loose... translation for the SNES version. Maybe loose isn't the proper word, more like liberal? Kefka's backstory was criminally understated, if they remade it, you know they'd delve deeply into it, even if they had to create one first. But as a villain, Sephiroth just didn't work for me. Now, I loved his character design. But when FFVII was over and I reflected on everything, that was the only part of him that I was attracted to. He was stylish looking. He had a cool sword. Was he a good villain? I didn't really feel he was. He's certainly not the worst villain in the FF series. Most of the game is just following him and looking at a trail of what he left behind while fighting mostly unrelated battles along the way while engaging in slapfights and dolphin jumping.
  7. "Yeah well that's like, just your opinion, man." And I "definitely" completely disagree. But I'm not 14 any more, and my flame war days are behind me.
  8. I guess I can abandon all hope for a solid remake of Final Fantasy VI with a better translation to show the world how amazing it's story and characters are. I loved FFVII when it first came out. It was a superb RPG. But I am so over it's hype and crazy fandom. You know they are going to ruin it's story with all the added filler crap they have created thanks to Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core.
  9. I am an IT person for a pizza corporation based in mostly Illinois with some franchises locations in Indiana. I'm mostly on the software side of the IT department, mostly specializing in problems the store managers have with their point of sale systems with a large portion of my time being taken by having to manually log into each of our 35 location's main database servers using Logmein client and build each and every one of their coupons and specials by hand each and every month... because we currently have no way to enter them here at the corporate office and push them out to all the stores! Oh well, job security
  10. What I've discovered is that you have to find the right balance of inking and killing power. Currently, a lot of people run with the Splatroller, almost always the Krak-On Splatroller, which is just the Splatroller with the Kraken as it's special. Heck, I've been in matches where I am the only person running with a gun at all. People love it because of it's wide, easy to use ink covering ability, and it's one-hit-kills on enemy players, provided you can get close enough to run them over. For me, I didn't like the Jet Squelcher because it was very hard to lay down ink and help cover areas when you weren't in a firefight.... inkfight... whatever, haha. You might like the chargers, which are this game's sniper weapons. It will take you until level 13 or 14 to unlock the one that actually has a scope on it, however, their range is still shorter than you would expect, and they only ink in a narrow straight line. Actually, my guess is that you would prefer the Splattershot Pro, which is a gun like the starting gun, the Spattershot Jr, except it has a longer range and a lower rate of fire. But the best part about trying new weapons is that the game lets you test drive them in a special shooting gallery arena before you buy them, and even after you buy them, so you can see exactly how they shoot, how they ink, and how fast they kill target dummies. Its really nice.
  11. I love my WiiU and I have no regrets about getting one what so ever. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Super Smash Bros WiiU, Mario Kart 8 are all worth the purchase alone. The Splatroller is the first weapon you'll get that has the Kraken special on it, yes. But through playing single player and finding the hidden weapon plans in each stage you can unlock other weapons that are the same, but with different sub and special weapons on them. I think I just unlocked a Jet Squelcher (a long distance, low rate of fire gun) that has the Kraken on it. Kraken is a really nice "oh-sh*t" button since you can't be splatted (this game's word for killed) while you have it active. Killing people with it does take a little getting used to since you have to leap through them, you can't just swim into them. However, the Kraken doesn't lay down much paint. The Kraken and the Killer Wail are both offensive killing specials that don't help ink very much. The Killer Wail doesn't lay down any ink at all, actually.
  12. This game has been out for what, two weeks now? I was just wondering if anyone else was playing it? I'm actually kind of addicted to it right now. I'm much more of a fan of classic shooters like Quake III Arena and Unreal Tournament than I am this new fad of military based shooters that release every year with minimal changes. And Splatoon is making me remember why I used to love playing Q3 and UT back in the day. It's focus on inking everything over just shooting other players gives it a really unique feel and lets players who aren't good at shooters really enjoy it as well. I'm having a blast just unlocking new weapons and trying them all out on people online. It's not just slight differences in bullet damage and rate of fire either, the paint rollers and brushes aren't even guns at all. If anyone is playing it, what are your favorite weapons to use? What sub weapons do you like? What is your favorite special weapon? Right now, I am loving the .52 Gal Deco, I think it's called? It looks like a drum-fed grenade launcher that is bedazzled with hundreds of pink rhinestones. Yeah, now that's awesome. It just happens to have the right balance of range and damage I like while also having enough rate of fire to effectively ink around me when I'm not in a fire fight. Also the Seeker sub weapon is great for surprising people that aren't looking down, and the Inkstrike that comes with it is my favorite special weapon. I've grabbed the win at the last second with a well placed inkstrike to nab a few more % of the map for my team.
  13. I will not be in early access either, as I haven't even looked into buying Heavensward yet. In fact, I likely won't even have the expansion for a long while. I might just finally take this chance to focus on RP... however, that would imply that other players are around to RP with. And I kind of doubt that will be the case with a shiny new expansion out. So that being the case, I might not even be playing FFXIV for a while. I'm not really sure yet.
  14. Shield Rod + Alucard Shield was my favorite way to break the game. But I've played SotN so many times and had to come up with different ways to handicap myself to make it harder just because I loved playing the game so much. Igavania is the best of course. But I still loved classic Castlevania. Castlevania 3 was my favorite as a kid. I loved Super Castlevania 4 as well, but it was so easy compared to Castlevania 3.
  15. I can't agree with that. Judgement was a terrible fighting game to be sure. But at least it paid respect to the classic Castlevania characters and setting. Lord of Shadows completely throws away everything Castlevania is and reboots the series into a really generic and boring game with a drab storyline that wasn't any better than the simplistic NES games story. IGA has the right idea. Some games do not transfer to 3D well. Some games are just more fun in 2D. Evolve the series in a Igavania style. Do not rip away what Castlevania is at its core and force it into a boring 3D hack and slash God of War clone.
  16. I think Judgement is more fun than either of those last two 3D Castlevania games they made. You know, the ones that should have been called Shadow of the God of War-vania?
  17. My favorite part of the entire kickstarter page is the Q&A section. There's a question that asks: Q: What is a backer? A: A wonderful little pile of sweetness!
  18. For anyone who never got the chance to see this thing get bigger and bigger and bigger in the sky after every update patch in 1.0.
  19. Here's some vintage Manari. Check that copyright date in the corner, haha! 1.0's lighting was notoriously wacky and usually made Manari's skin glow blue, hair look green, and her eyes look completely black. This was one of the only 1.0 screenshots I ever liked.
  20. More often than not, it's the rest of the game besides RP that I keep losing interest in. For someone with a limited time to play as I have, the grind is just so discouraging. Not only that, but I don't have a group of people to do content with, so most of the endgame is just duty finder or nothing at all for me. For RP, I've got a lot invested in my character since I've been RPing since 1.0, but Manari has a certain personality that takes a little inspiration from my own. Which means I do that thing where people are already involved in RP and having a good conversation and I really want to join, but I don't want to crash their RP. So Manari ends up doing a lot of standing in the corner with her arms crossed not talking to anyone. In a way, that's fitting of her character now because she would certainly do that (and so would I) but on the other hand, that kind of personality doesn't cause a lot of RP to happen and it can get discouraging. So the answer is just "don't do that" right? Well, it's not always that simple. I ask myself "Would Manari butt into that conversation?" and the answer is almost always no. This, in turn, does kinda discourage me from time to time and make me lose some of my RP steam when I know I'm missing out on RP. I guess I need to start getting more creative. I don't really want to do things like trip or fall or bump into those people because Manari isn't clumsy at all.
  21. Manari has been dealing with loss of life and having to learn to kill since a young age due to the territorial conflicts and clan wars her tribe was involved in when she was young. However, she is also a traditional Keeper huntress and was taught that you hunt to survive and not for sport or profit. It's all come together in her current mindset to form a personal code that causes her to harm or even kill anyone she personally feels is a threat to the safety of herself, her clan, or her Twelveswood. Unfortunately she's killed enough to no longer feel much doubt or regret about it afterwards.
  22. Manari keeps hearing that term "marriage". Of course she is very traditional, so it's a very alien concept to her. She understands that it's something most of Eorzea does when two people really want to be together. She just doesn't understand what getting married changes. She's managed to wrap her head around why other people might want just one other person and the two of them never have any other mates, she just doesn't quite understand why those two people have to go do something called "get married". Can't they be together anyway?
  23. This is something I sort of struggle with myself. Manari has no IC affiliation with any Gridanian authority at all. She isn't ICly a Twin Adder, she isn't ICly a member of the Wood Wailers or the archer's guild. However, of her own personal doing, she is a self appointed defender and avenger of the Twelveswood. I've written her in such a way that she is always doing her best to uphold her own code of the forest and she loves it so much she hates to leave the woods. So much so, that when ever I'm RPing anywhere that isn't in the Black Shroud, it really eats at me the entire time, because I know it would be eating at Manari to be hanging out in the awful salty air of La Noscea when she should be in her forest. As such, I always struggle to come up with any kind of reason why she would be in a place like Ul'dah. Anyone who knows Manari really well would think it extremely odd to find her in any place besides the Black Shroud. I don't really consider it being a case of "writing myself into a corner" because I love the way she is. But it does make casual random RP harder.
  24. Manari is a very proud and very traditional Keeper of the Moon girl. So proud and so traditional in fact, that she is not very accepting of outside cultures, especially Seeker culture. She can be a tad bit racist if she's feeling snarky or her own culture is being called into question. And if she's faced with someone who might be racist against Keepers, she will aggressively defend her people and her culture even if that means countering racism with more racism. Sort of in line with that, if you take Manari out of the Twelvewood for any reason, whether its for a fun party on the beach or a work related task in Ul'dah, she will complain every step of the way about how much she hates both Thanalan and La Noscea.
  25. ((I really love this idea, but I apologize that I haven't interacted with almost anyone who I see currently posting on the RPC, so I can't make custom quotes. The next person may skip me if they know the poster above me.)) Manari Battle intro: Awe of She Victory: "You will never be anything more than prey to a huntress." Defeat: "May... the Greenwrath finish what I... could not. Assist: I am already prepared to strike from the shadows. Taunt: "Your blood will nourish the Twelveswood!" Reacting to Taunt: "I would love to hear you jest again with a blade in your throat." Flee: "Next time... you will never even see me..." Reacting to Flee: "Never return to this forest!" Tie: "-Tsk- Have I been lax in my training?" Perfect Victory: " ...A waste of my energy."
