  1. Extended Royal Road + Balance + Celestial Opposition = 45 seconds of 10% damage buff for the entire party. The Minotaur in Fractal died before the second incubator. Is that why I murdered that thing super fast last night? To be honest I haven't paid attention to what AST can even do, so I didn't realize why we were killing that thing so much faster. And we didn't even have a Monk.
  2. Awe of She - Guilty Gear X version. I think it perfectly showcases the tranquility just before the storm of steel. u9LtKHiVRCw
  3. The original Final Fantasy has probably the most profound effect on me as a child. I'd never played a game like it before and once I did, I couldn't get enough of it. To this day I still play it, or one of it's many re-releases on newer hardware. Most of the legendary NES classics also were very important to me as kid. But I'm certain that the SNES has the most powerful influence on me. It was the very first console I had to earn the money for myself by mowing lawns, doing yard work, and just doing whatever people would pay a kid for. It took a little over an entire summer for me to earn enough to buy it, but I'll never forget that feeling of bringing it home and playing Super Mario World for the first time. There were so many SNES games that just blew me away with how good they were. Final Fantasy II was SO different than the original (probably because it was actually FF4), The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past would become my favorite Zelda game of all time even to this day. I was a huge fan of Metroid, and Super Metroid only improved everything about the original... nay, perfected everything about the original. This was a general theme for the SNES. It took every game I loved on the NES and made them so much better. Why doesn't that happen anymore? New sequels and reboots of old classic successful games are usually worse now. Probably because developers just don't understand that some games shouldn't be forced into a 3D format.
  4. I wasn't aware that was the LB etiquette now. I thought it was standard to wait until both level 1 and level 2 bars were full before using it on the last boss of a dungeon. I don't really read up on this kind of thing.
  5. This has been bothering me for a while now. And someone correct me if I'm wrong about this, I haven't done any research, only assumptions. I hate now that every bard finally has a stupid DPS limit break, they start mashing it every time a blue limit bar turns yellow. I could have easily finished off a boss but no, the bard wants to fire his silly AoE line and it does sad damage. I'm only assuming mine as a Ninja would do more since it's single target, and its making me mad. Mages don't ever do this to me. Only bards.
  6. There will be a large forest in the game that acts as a sort of dungeon. This forest will probably be infamous in this game for being hard to get through if you don't grind levels first. Within this forest will be a rumor of a guardian that watches over it. Manari is that guardian. She will encounter the party early on in the game and join until the party reaches the end of that part of the story. As soon as Manari guides them to the exit, she will leave, saying her place is here and she won't abandon her home. Later in the game near the 2nd half, you can choose to backtrack and visit the forest again, if you do so, you will find it being attacked by something. Possibly the forces of the main villain, or possibly some kind of ancient recently unsealed demon or dragon. When you travel through the forest again, the monsters are all much much more powerful and it will be difficult. Upon reaching the boss of the forest, the party will encounter Manari again, caught in the battle of her life against this optional hard boss. If you fight and defeat this boss she will swear vengeance on the big bad and join your party permanently as she travels with you to make sure her forest doesn't get attacked again.
  7. "This adorable little recreation of a Traditional Keeper of the Moon girl is... Wait... Where did she go? Better check the nearby bushes and trees." This well crafted minion was designed by mechanical expert named Nahue Tanner who used to run a machine shop in a corner of Gridania. Where did he go? Why did he build it, and who exactly is the doll based on? No one knows for sure. Behavior: Independent
  8. So does this mean that all Ninja are going to be required to switch to Monk now or be left behind in the lolNIN category? Was Monk really that bad that they needed a crapton of buffs? I haven't played a Monk since early 2.0.
  9. If you don't mind my asking, I've been wanting to play PSO2 for like years now. How are you playing it? I hear there is an english client in south east Asia or something but it has a IP lockout on it, and I don't really know how to get around that kind of thing. Is that how you are playing it?
  10. Manari had never read a newspaper in all her time spent inside a city state, but laying on a table, open-faced was the words "Shroudwolf Clan" written on one. She couldn't help but read the article and slowly develop and confused expression on her face. She certainly didn't see any of this happen, nor had she ever heard of or seen such a woman in the Clan House. She reached up to scratch at one of her ears as she looked over the name of the person who wrote the article. "Spahro... who? Ohhh, is this one of those fiction stories?" Having no knowledge of journalists, the traditional Keeper girl was forced to assume it was just a story. Besides, no one could be foolish enough to actually infiltrate one group, anger the group they were hired by, then publicly post it all for both to see, right? She had hope that one sun she might be featured in an action packed story of her own. She tossed the newspaper back on the table before getting what she came for in Gridania and leaving as soon as possible to return to the Twelveswood and away from the crowded city state.
  11. I think it's important to remember that this is fantasy/anime inspired setting. Ninjas in fantasy are drastically inaccurate from actual shinobi of history. There is certainly a place for characters like this, however that is not how FFXIV presents their ninja. The ninja in FFXIV are very much the fantastical hand-sign weaving ninja of superstition that can replace themselves with a log when struck and can split into multiple forms and such. As I said before, I don't RP Manari being an actual "ninja" so she can't do hand signs create mirror images of herself or any of that stuff. She fights in a way that makes RP combat more exciting and engaging for both sides of the battle. Because it's not terribly fun if all you do is hide in a bush and spit poison tipped darts from a blowgun at people.
  12. What I'd really love is the ability to use Yugiri's hairstyle. I love it so much. It would be perfect for Manari, and the first time I'd actually consider changing her hair since 1.0.
  13. I've been RPing Manari as a forest assassin since 1.0, before Ninja was ever announced. I used to use the daggers that Gladiator/Paladin could equip and not have a shield in the other hand. Manari doesn't ever call herself words like "ninja" or "shinobi" because she isn't really one of those. She fights from the shadows using stealth and accuracy, but she doesn't ever cast ninja magic or anything like that. She does use two daggers but she has nothing to do with the rogues in Limsa either. She also usually wears green and not black because she tends to stay in the Shroud at all times. I don't really ever plan to have to travel to Othard or learn actual ninjutsu but who knows where the RP will take her.
  14. I think that without specific lore (and even if there were specific lore), it's all going to come down to how each individual RPer wants their horns, or tails, or ears, or whatever unique racial feature to react to various things in RP. I've seen Miqo'te players do everything from completely ignore/forget they even have tails, to RP that their tail is a living, sentient being with it's own name and personality... One player might prefer to RP that their horn is very sensitive to any touch or physical contact, while another RPer could dislike that idea and RP that the horns are not effected by touch whatsoever. And since the lore can't specifically disprove either case, they are both valid ways to RP the race.
  15. She sounds like a great character to meet Manari. Though Manari is not a teenager anymore. Her little sister Reilah is, but she's a bookworm holed up in Ul'dah these days. Manari is always roaming the Twelveswood doing her best to preserve the traditional Keeper ways in whatever way she can.
  16. Manari: "I am told that we are married. I do not understand what that means. Explain it to me!" If she somehow ended up married to anyone that wasn't a Keeper male, it probably isn't going to be a very long marriage, unless they are very charming and can convince her they love the Twelveswood a whole heck of a lot.
  17. My character named Hajime Saito would totally agree with you on that one! Himura Battousai is totally a lame dude to hang out with. But seriously, I always just assume the guy named Safer Sephiroth or Cloud Soldier is probably just a kid who is really excited and loves his favorite anime/game character so much he wants to look like him in all vidya gaems. And hopefully doesn't RP on that character.
  18. I always said it looks like we are writing in our rainbow unicorn Lisa Frank Diary while talking about boys on a big fat phone with a curly long phone cord.
  19. Does that mean a Male Roeg can do that sit animation Lalafell have where they sway their heads back and forth like a metronome? Because that would be hilarious.
  20. You want to put sunglasses on a dead guy and walk around with him in public?
  21. I suppose my biggest RP sin to confess lately is just... not wanting to RP. Back in 1.0 I RPed every single night, and it was awesome. But 1.0 was inherently more conducive to RP due to a few simple factors. Those factors mostly being that there was largely nothing to actually do in game, so RP was the obvious choice, and that the game in 1.0 had a TON of large empty rooms, buildings, huts, chairs, tables, entire sections of zones that were completely empty of NPC or any quests or any reason for people to go there what so ever, making them perfect for RP. In 2.0 its really hard to find any place in the open world that doesn't exist for a specific reason, thus causing non RP people to go there often. Now in 2.0 we have a ton of awesome things to use in RP like glamours and WAY more gear and new emotes and standing and sitting poses and facial expressions and our own houses and just all kinds of awesome stuff.... however, there's a ton of stuff I feel like I have to do when I log on every night, which is great for the game to keep people subbing to play, but bad for me and RP because now I feel like I just don't have enough time for it. Whenever someone asks me to RP I always feel like I can't because I have dungeons I have to run, or roulettes or daily quests or hunts or what have you. I made Manari become a very reclusive and hard to find character, because that's pretty much how I've become as an RPer since 2.0 started.
  22. That is an excellent and very plausible case to make for the Miqo'te migration over the frozen water and for the lower male population. However, mentioning the 26 tribes and their totems implies that your theory only applies to Seekers. I suppose my question is whether or not the lore about Miqo'te states if the Keepers and Seekers migrated together, or did they split into different clans after migrating as one race? I'm just curious about how exactly the Keepers came to originally setting in the Shroud. It seems that Seekers settled anywhere and everywhere, but Keepers only settled in the Shroud.
  23. Manari's animals are a major part of her character, and they have been since 1.0. I don't usually bring them into RP too much though. It seems animals are really popular, especially whenever there is a new minion, in RP now, so I usually just keep it low key.
  24. As a completely straight male I have a hard time coming up with any male NPC I'd switch teams for... certainly not Thancred. Neither one of us would switch teams. I can't stand Haurchefant's voice. It's so grating and annoying. Aymeric is cool guy I guess but I really can't stand male Elezen as a whole. I have no idea! Maybe that male Miqo'te from the Crystal Tower storyline? He looked pretty girly. Yeah I'm pretty stumped on this one.
  25. Manari would assume instantly one person in particular was behind the attempted assassination, but would also know that person wouldn't miss and would assume the arrow was a message of some sort. Manari would pull the arrow from whatever it struck and examine it, hoping it would contain some sort of clue as to where she should go to hopefully end this long over due conflict she was in. If this happened out in the wilds of the Shroud, she would not let anyone get away. But in a city or a tavern or somesuch she would not be as good at pursuit.
