  1. The Hildibrand quests can be really funny much of the time, but most of the time spent between amusing cutscenes is generally tedious running around between person A and point B and back and forth. Some of the crazy facial expressions they use for the Hildibrand cutscenes remind me of old Garry's Mod YouTube videos from the mid-late 2000's.
  2. Seeing a Gnome Warrior tank Onyxia in WoW opened the door for me enjoying little dudes tanking the biggest things. I remember Tarutaru tanks before WoW. You couldn't even see them from behind the mobs. Tarutaru were even smaller than Lalafell, it was so adorable.
  3. The moment I read your Lalafell name, all I could think of was: 7v2GDbEmjGE Other than that, he sounds like he would be adorable and fun to pick on... as long as you were his friend.
  4. Why does the pics of the afro look like the hair is photoshopped on? Maybe it's just me. It just looks kind of poorly done, I guess.
  5. Aww, my highlander would love to have crashed a wedding... but I just noticed you are on Gilgamesh.
  6. I must not venture out much as I haven't heard of almost any of these being posted. But I do have a few I watch all the time. I'm a big fan of ProJared, we share the same opinion on almost everything, and he loves Monster Hunter, so he obviously has good taste and is a smart guy. I can't believe no one mentioned Game Theory. I love that show, even if it has become the FNAF show lately... and all the horrible game commercials he's done lately that were disguised as one of his normal theory videos. Um...Who else? Oh, I watch Angry Joe I can name far more gaming Youtubers that I DON'T like, but that's not what this thread is for.
  7. That's not the only way the story can go, however. If you played 1.0 and reached a certain point in the 1.0 storyline, your character is teleported through time. When you logged into FFXIV 2.0 for the very first time, your character appears from a portal near whatever city you set your starting class as during the 1-time character change they gave 1.0 players before beta.
  8. The way I've come to interpret the Keeper poacher issue is that there are a few groups (the most well known and present in-game being the Couerlclaw poachers) that are openly poaching for reasons that go against pure survival and harmony with the Twelveswood and outright oppose Gridania. These groups conflict directly with Gridiana's Wood Wailers and therefore have gained a reputation. I imagine this has fueled the natural xenophobic and racist Gridanian view to put a sterotype that since all Keepers of the Moon seem live out in the woods and hunt, they are all probably poachers. That's how I've RPed the kind of experience that Manari has had when dealing with people in and around Gridania. However, as already stated, there is no way that these Keeper families that have been living in the Twelvewoods for so many years could have possibly survived without learning to live in harmony with the elementals. The Twelveswood, before the Calamity wounded it so badly, used to be a place you didn't screw with.
  9. I've been doing my best to collect and learn as much Keeper lore as I can since I started in 1.0. However, the fact remains that there isn't much detailed information on them. It's mostly just general statements that the naming convention lore from SE states, or comments that a small few NPCs make in-game for certain quests. -- There are no examples of Keeper tribes we can go find and visit in-game. So its very hard to see if there are any traditional outfits they would wear. The closest we get is a band of poachers who all seem to dress alike. We know this band of poachers is not a good reference though, because they have a male leader. -- If you travel across all of Eorzea in game and look at each NPC, you will find very very very few Keeper NPCs outside of the Black Shroud. However, there are quite a few Keeper NPCs in and around Gridania. The absolute best place to get more in-game lore for this kind of question is the Archer guild questline. The main NPC is a tribal Keeper girl who is adjusting to life in the city. From what I understand, most Gridanians generally consider all Miqo'te Keeper tribes that live out in the Twelveswood to be the same thing as poachers. -- The lore from SE states that Keepers keep their tribes small with only 2 or 3 families living together. We don't have much more information than that, and there aren't any Keeper tribes to visit, like I said. -- As for where they live in the Shroud... I would like to know this myself. Since we can't go see any tribes, we can't know where for sure. For my Keeper girl, I have always had her tribe existing deep in the Eastern Shroud, far from Gridania. -- We have no definite answer for this either, but I'd like to think there's still a mutual respect and both the males and females understand their roles in the tribe and why those roles are in place. We do know that the males tend to wander between tribes to make sure there are enough males around to keep the tribes going through the next generation. -- This is something I love to RP, but rarely see others RPing. It's clearly stated in the game that Wildwood Elezen and Keeper Miqo'te have a rocky history with each other. They have a long time rivalry with their differing forms of archery (Elezen longbows vs. Miqo'te short bows) and this can be seen in the archer's guild storyline very clearly. As for outsiders of other races... it's not stated anywhere that I know of. But I can tell you that my Keeper girl sees the Seeker culture as a gross mockery of her own Keeper traditions, and can't stand the way they do things. But that isn't official SE lore. -- I don't have links or screenshots unfortunately, but I can tell you that the places with the most Keeper lore in game are Archer's Guild quest line, and some kind of Moogle mail quest I keep hearing about but haven't found myself yet that talks briefly about male Keepers. I know there are others who can post the screenshots with the NPC conversations.
  10. I'm always excited about a new Star Ocean game. But I'm most excited about a new King of Fighters game. However, I don't think I like the game going to 3D models. Then again, Guilty Gear Xrd handled the transition from 2D sprites to using 3D models in a way I have never seen a game do before. It perfectly emulated the way the game used to look, yet also allowed for far more cinematic looking super moves and character intro/win animations. I would have liked to see KoF do this exact type of transition, but that does not appear to be the case. So I'm a little concerned that the new KoF game might just be the next King of Fighters Maximum Impact... if anyone remembers those games.
  11. My male highlander Orion would surely meet her if she is a dancer in Ul'dah. He's a rather over confident womanizing semi-jerk who tends to come off as a perv, but it's just the way he likes to keep things lighthearted. Orion would take one look at the lovely dancing Miqo'te you have and want to flirt with her for sure. He's a fun guy and although it seems like he just wants to bed as many women as possible, he's honestly harmless and secretly has a big heart that he hides under his ladykiller reputation. He's a mercenary, so he has to seem like a hard-ass to keep the jobs coming in.
  12. Other MMO's have addons for RP? Admittedly I haven't RPed in other MMOs so I had no idea. What kinds of things do they do?
  13. Remember that the entire reason this thread was originally created was because it is extremely difficult to successfully get into either Balmung or Gilgamesh as they are two of the highest population servers and the only 2 "unofficial RP" servers. I feel like everyone still is trying to argue why it's better to stay on Balmung. Of course it's better to stay on Balmung or Gilgamesh. They have large, established RP communities and no one is arguing that. This thread was created because new RPers can not get into them. Not without paying real money for a server transfer anyway.
  14. I keep seeing people responding saying "I'm happy where I am!" or "Good luck if you want to leave". I'm pretty sure that's missing the entire point of the thread. I don't think the OP is trying to get anyone to uproot and move everything some place else. I want to get some friends into RP, and possibly play some new characters with alts I haven't made yet. All of this is very difficult on Balmung since it's so full. If we had another, less populated, server which was designated for RP, then we could point new people there and have fun with alts and new RP over there without telling new people "Either get up at 5am and hope or pay money to transfer".
  15. I finally found one I thought was amusing. I don't have a clever caption for it though. I didn't leave her hair like this, I just wanted to see what she's look like with it down for a while.
  16. お前はもう死んでいる
  17. Being a Keeper of the Moon, Manari might give him the time of day. Though she'd be disappointed that he didn't call the Twelveswood home. They might not have much to talk about given their very different paths in life.
  18. I honestly used to walk (not run) around Coerthas in the magitech mount back in early 2.0 watching the snow fall and thinking how awesome a FFVI remake would be. I never did get two other people with me, but I imagined they were there.
  19. Is is just me, or are people just voting for the entries that have the best artists behind them, rather than actually caring about the hairstyle itself? Maybe it's just me. I'm not overly fond of any of the female hairs, mostly because Manari wouldn't change her hair to any of them. I don't really want anymore short haircuts though, we have enough already. For the males... yikes. I'll just keep my negative opinions to myself, and simply say I'm glad the majority of people agree with me and didn't vote for a few of the really bad looking ones. Orion is a manly man's man. He won't be using any of the longer pretty looking hairs that are winning. Although... I do LOVE that Fighter from FFI haircut. That one looks really awesome.
  20. Manari is a very traditional Keeper of the Moon who is deeply rooted in the Shroud. She would tell your character to go back home and get out of the desert. It could be fun, but if you aren't keen to ever return the Shroud, our characters might have a hard time ever meeting anyway.
  21. No joke, at this very moment I'm listening to Ron Wasserman. Who is Ron Wasserman? THIS: tHDLFk5WUJE That's right. The guy who wrote the theme song for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. And pretty much every other version of the show too, I think.
  22. This gave me awesome nostalgia flashbacks to the FFIV and Chrono Trigger Dev rooms. It was so cool to of them to do this. The best event in FFXIV yet. I also caught the fact that the Rising Vendor was literally just Minfilia's 1.0 model. But also... that music. That haunting rendition of Answers that plays when you get near the center of Ul'dah. It made me remember the very end of 1.0, when all the music in the zones was replaced by that very same ghostly distance version of Answers and Dalamud was at its biggest in the sky. So amazing of them to throw that in there. Yoshi P has really done something amazing with FFXIV. Though I guess a lot of players who started in 2.0 are only just now starting to realize that the Wandering Minstrel has been Yoshi P the entire time since 1.0.
  23. As a kid I remember it being more like this:
