  1. What better way to celebrate All Saints' Wake than hurling gourds at high speed across Thanalan? Join the Bellworks Manufacturing and Design Company for Eorzean Punkin Chunkin! Inspired by a real world event (check out a short video here), bring your own high-powered pumpkin launching device or watch others to compete for furthest-flung foodstuff. Not interested in that? We also have a collection of more traditional holiday celebrations such as a costume contest and spooky storytime. Competitors in the chunkin and glamour contests stand to win gil and item prizes. We don't have many entrants, so your odds of winning are high! All the latest details of the event can be found on this Carrd: http://bellworksffxiv.carrd.co/ Place: Central Thanalan (22, 27) on Balmung Time: 7pm EDT on October 30 Hope to see you there! If you have fun at the event, remember that the Bellworks is looking for more members!
  2. The rolls for the raffles are posted in the following Imgur album: http://imgur.com/a/UM5tA In the interest of full disclosure: some of the latter tallies were actually bigger than my laptop screen, so I didn't get everyone in the screenshots. For the Music 2 Basket, I was scrolled down too much, and some of the first entries are not shown. I did check all the results though, for what my word is worth. There was a tie for the winning roll on the Music 2 Basket as well that was not caught before the winner was announced and rewarded. The tied ticket holder has been compensated by me privately. There was also a tie for the Tea Time basket that was resolved with an in-game /random tiebreaker by Martiallais Heuloix. Now that the formalities are out of the way, thank you all SO, SO MUCH for making this such an amazing event. This seemed to be a huge success, and there were SO MANY characters present. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
  3. I had one of my own made up, but I really appreciate the effort anyways! Thank you!
  4. Dear RPC, We have come to the sudden realization that we may be potentially parsing hundreds of /random's simultaneously for the raffle events. This is cumbersome and too prone to error. Would you all, in general, feel comfortable with the Bellworks handling this event (using the exact same ruleset posted) by doing all the rolls behind-the-scenes on a Google Sheet, with the reassurance that event staff will not be participating in the raffles, that screenshots of the results will be posted after the event, and that the Bellworks loves you all very much?
  5. Likewise. It'd be nice to make it an RP hot-spot, but there's less of a reason for people to wind up there IC because it's not really near a major urban center the way The Quicksand is. Everyone would need a justification for going there. Maybe once we get some new summer clothes people will be wanting to show off their beach bodies somewhere else than the Quicksand. We get plenty of people showing up in swimwear at the Sunny Seaside Bar. Oh look, there's Brave. Why am I not surprised? Goddamn. I look even better in screenshots.
  6. Goodness! I was not expecting such a huge event. Sorry if I missed anyone trying to speak with Brave, the waterfall of text was too stronk sometimes. Thanks for coming out and making it fun!
  7. Brave has been learning more and more about Lohengarde culture, as she was separated from her parents at a very young age. She hopes to one day visit the native Lohengarde homeland in Abalathia's Spine.
  8. "Well, take off that silly arse hat, I want to see if you're cute or not!" Brave has associated with enough good people that use questionable methods to not pass judgement immediately. Also, she's a relentless flirt.
  9. I will try again, hopefully RL won't foil my plans. Please add Brave Horizon!
  10. Bryn seems to think she got the killing blow on Odin. Kudos! If one of you lovely RPer's happens to hit up Odin next time he spawns, make sure you take a screenshot before you pull! Also, take a screenshot of you teabagging the body after. =D
  11. Brave hadn't noticed T'caska glaring angrily at the box when she stopped to fix her sandal, but she certainly did notice her after she mightily (for a cat) booted the poor little box mere seconds after she had taken her foot off it. "Twelve, woman!" she cries. "It's just a box." She looks around, finding a crowd assembled around the box: a sour-looking Hyur, an excitable Miqo'te, an upset Elezen and her fairy, and herself. The hells? she thinks, entirely unsure what the deal with this box was. And yet here she was, staring at it. She watches Franz pick it up. "It's just a box," she repeats, although she herself wonders.
  12. Brave Horizon sets her stack of books down next to the box. She props her left foot up on the box, and she leans down and tightens the straps on her sandals. She turns to face Franz. "Have I met you before?" She asks, then suddenly answers her own question. "Ah! I believe you've fixed my busted face once or twice at the Grindstone." (( Edited to actually contribute! I guess I'll give this forum RP a try. ))
  13. Almost caved my chest in! Turned Brave's knee inside out >.<
  14. I'm curious if you made this post before or after Warren became Arbiter of the Grindstone.
  15. Momentum (p = m*v) and kinetic energy (K = 0.5*m*v^2) are closely related. Both are only functions of mass and speed. Force is the time rate of change of momentum. Even with a larger force, a Lalafell has a shorter arm and therefore shorter swing time. It kind of evens out. Don't get me wrong, I know how silly it is applying physics to a game. I can let a lot of shit slide for the sake of fun RP. As far as those miners tossing the folks out of the room, I can only assume SE did it for a giggle.
  16. ... Goddammit. I saw this pop up, and I didn't look at the timestamps or anything, just read the first two pages and thought "Huzzah! I have something useful to contribute to this discussion!" and spent a ton of time writing one out. Since I put in all that effort, I'm gonna post it anyways, even though by this point I won't be contributing shit. I think we can reasonably assume the laws of motion are pretty much the same, so I shall do so. Lalafells should be able to become stronger per pound than a Roegadyn, because muscle strength comes from the number of fibers you can fit in said muscle. A Roe is not only taller than a Lala, but also wider and thicker. Volume, and therefore mass, is proportional to the cube of height, while muscle cross-sectional area is proportional only to the square of height. Simply stated, the bigger you get, the strength per pound actually decreases significantly. That being said, I don't think that advantage counts for much. "Damage" is a matter of transferring a lot of energy very quickly to your target. Let's simplify a punch as a brick with the same mass as your fist being thrown at someone. The kinetic energy of that brick varies directly with mass and the square of speed. Looking at my character's wiki and that of Mr. Eorzea himself, Brave weighs 230 ponze and Chachan weighs 47 ponze. Assuming the weight of their respective fist-bricks scales with their total body weight, Chachan would have to punch 2.21 times faster than Brave to deliver the same amount of energy. Keep in mind, his joints would also have to absorb the reaction force of the punch-ee's body back on his fist, wrist, arm, elbow, shoulder, etc. Brave has a lot more meat in her arm to safely dissipate that energy. Also consider things like reach disadvantage. As far as the presence of Lalafells in armed forces throughout Eorzea, these forces fight in numbers. Even if one of your blades is held by a Lala, 3 vs 2 gives your side a huge advantage.
  17. Is the actually gray or just unkempt with dramatic lighting?
  18. I haven't been keeping up with gaming news because of school, but this morning I watched both that and the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided announcement trailer and hnnnnnnnnnnng.
  19. [insert picture of $10 bottle of wine here]
  20. And then it turns out to be software and dvd piracy. ... What sort of Themed Outfit would you wear for that? :cactuar: up863eQKGUI
  21. I finally had to give in and register for my last gen ed elective. I could only fit it in during the summer too, so I only had one option: "International Studies". Ugh. But today I was verifying that nothing was messed up for my summer and fall schedules, I found this gem in the description of that class: I think everything is going to be alright. My only hope is that we have Themed Outfit Thursdays
