1. Yheli glanced over at Zhara, raising an eyebrow. "A knife that can cut almost anythin' I put on the board in front of me? And also doesn't look like it'll break after two slices?" A pause, followed by a smile, before she spoke again. "250's perfectly fine by me." She starts off searching through her own pockets, pulling out gil pieces of multiple denominations and placing them into her hand. "Aye, pity I cannot get the sword here--don't fret, I can find another there--but I'll be a happy patron if I walk away with a special item this eve!" Once all the pieces necessary were taken out, she lowers her hands towards the little smith and extends them out, waiting for him to receive the payment from her.
2. State of the Linkshell Evening guys, here is my very first report on State of the Linkshell. Organization - Linkshell now accommodates IC/OOC communication. See notes on the main page for differences. - New LS leader: ExAtomos. He has quite a few alts, but his food alt is "Tin Man" on Balmung. What's been done A few things! Firstly, the LS got made! Wewt! Secondly. I wanted a way to stand out from the crowd... to make this LS feel both unique and give you something in return for being a part of it. To that end, I present to you... Wait for it... IC BUSINESS CARDS! Hnnng. Just look at that sexy design. Simple, because your regular farmer doesn't care for too much fanciness. Sleek, as it's meant to be efficient and say what needs to be said without all the extra crap. Easy to read, because how do you market yourself with something people cannot even read? Add in a touch of color and you got something that pops out to the eye as well. On the back side, there is plenty of white space provided so you can write your own notes up there Basically, each member of the LS receives a customized business card (I make these edits personally in Photoshop; screw using online templates rn) that I take a little time out of my day to grant you. Once you have this, you may freely hand it out in whatever IC encounters you have! I consider it our special way of networking amongst the community. Chairwoman is a LS Master, Manager is a LS Leader, and Associate is a regular LS member. What's to come A Discord server! Personally, I'm waiting until the LS gets bigger--say, 20 people--before committing to this resource. Here's why Discord: - Circumvents the LS requirement; if you're all out of linkshell space, you can instead join through the Discord method. - Gives a platform to communicate amongst all members outside of the game. - DID I MENTION IT'S ENTIRELY FREE YET?! - An account on Discord also lets you connect to countless servers without too much hassle Conclusion Well, that's all I have this evening guys. Until next time!
3. Usually on in the evenings CST; I'll keep an eye out for you Anyways! I feel like doing a funny bump. FARMER'S MARKET The LS so good... Even Terry Crews doesn't want to miss out on it. Also, it's quite new and I'm literally starting recruitment right now!
4. Purpose Farmer's Market is an IC (with OOC allowed) social linkshell connecting multiple kinds of people interested in food, whether gourmet or casual, or drink, whether it be water or coffee or mixed drinks or a simple rum. IC Conversation: Put in between two quotation marks or asterisks. E.g. "Howdy" & *does action* OOC Conversation: Speaking normally. E.g. Hey guys, how are you today? Who can join? Anyone! No, really. Anyone. Do you eat food? Do you drink beverages? Chances are both answers are a "Yes" which means you can! Whether you’re a chef, not a chef, someone who’s food-curious or drink-curious, a foodie, or even an IC food critic, there’s a place for you here. If you’re on the alternative route crafting/gathering items culinarians use, such as vintners, fishermen, hunters, and botanists, this linkshell is also for you! You never know; you may find a business deal as a supplier for a particular chef. Additionally, if you have an event seeking chefs or people who work with food, you may advertise in the linkshell. If you want to network with others in the culinarian world or looking to get into it, this is the place to do so. Rules While inside of this linkshell, there are a few rules we ask you follow. Be happy. Have fun. Stay healthy. This is a game, afterall. Try not to make it too much of a job and enjoy yourself and fellow company. No hateful speech, discrimination, and/or harassment–sexual and non-sexual. If it gets personal, take it to whispers/tells. We’re chefs, not laundromats. Debate’s welcome, but keep it amicable. If it becomes too heated, rancorous, or breaks rules a linkshell leader/master may forcefully cut off the conversation. If you want to accuse someone of something, you’ll have burden of proof to overcome and must provide evidence of the accused’s actions in question. Contact Have any questions? Want to join? Prefer to chat about food, other items, or maybe want puns? Here’s the people to reach out to in-game for invites. Leggerless Hanzou [Master] – NA; usually online evenings CST. Tin Man (ExAtomos) [Leader] – NA/EU Thank you for reading. We hope we can enjoy your company and hear your ideas in the near future!
5. Glad to hear it I think I may start it up on Saturday.
6. Yheli moved closer to Chachanji after motioned to and glanced down at the ingot and the knife. Her eyes were trained on the knife and she followed its movements carefully. Once she saw how easily the ingot was cut with little pressure, she cocked an eyebrow with surprise before she returned to her usual self. "Oddly enough that sort of variance also applies to cooking, but there's plenty of mediums abound in that profession." She chuckled a bit to herself before looking over the schematics and pointing down at some of the text. "I'd still ask you to make them for me, but seeing as how your personal values go against the idea..." Another pause, as she brought a hand up to her chin to ponder the situation. "A translation for the sword's schematics will suffice then; allows a native to Eorzea to make it if I cannot find another like yourself." She said, lowering her hand and looking at Chachanji with a smile across her face. "Now, I know you don't prefer to make weapons presently, but may I ask to purchase that knife from you?" Her question was one of genuine curiosity, not marred by an ulterior motive. "If it works that well I can use it as a multi-purpose knife and eliminate the need for... two of these knifes I have on the second schematic roll. I can definitely see a use for it on the Island Coconuts at least..." She turns her attention to the knife once more, scanning its features more closely and even picking it up if allowed to.
7. Howdy all, Prompted by the rapid increase of cafe and restaurant-esque places I've seen in recent days, I want to throw across an idea I have the foundation for (literally make the LS and it's launched) but never got around to bringing to fruition yet. So! That said, here is a link to the possible LS below: Farmer's Market If actively interested, you can PM or reply here. Again, I'm gauging interest before making any final decisions
8. Yheli held up her index finger towards Zhara, silently telling her to wait a moment, and made a few more notes in her journal. One minute later, she put away the writing utensil and book in her hands back inside of her clothes and picked up the papers and bag she set on the floor. Papers now in hand and bag slung over shoulder, she raised herself off the wall and moved swiftly and silently towards Zhara. "Well. Meant for that little smith there unless you're also one of the smiths here. Have multiple orders. The first one I'll require as soon as possible; the second one I'll request be either delivered to me or I pick up later when convenient." She takes the first roll of paper and hands it off to Zhara. Upon opening, she would find a detailed schematic of a thin longsword. There were slight variations, however; the blade was single-edged, thin, the length of your typical Eorzean longsword, and also curved slightly. The crossguard is circular and not too large, the hilt large enough to hold two Miqo'te sized hands, and the total weight described as allowing one or two-handed use. Most of the parts were written in with their dimensions near the part of the blade they correspond to. The second roll of paper handed soon after contains drawings of several culinary knifes--a paring knife, Santoku knife, filet knife, carving knife, bread knife, and a chef's knife--as well as one small design for kitchen shears. Similar to the first roll there are dimensions attached to each specific part of the items drawn. "Sword's something I picked up from a trade with one of the recent immigrants. Said it's based on the blades some soldiers used there. Also said its more of a Western Doma derivative, if that matters? The other roll is a bunch of knifes I need for, well, cooking and preparing food." The Miqo'te adjusts the bag over her shoulder slightly once she finishes, adjusts her glasses right after, then looks up at Zhara once more. "Are these doable or not?"
9. Yea--Oh. There's actually penguins in Eorzea too. I completely glossed over that part then. MORE APKALLUS AND PENGUINS. There we go, it's fixed.
10. MORE APKALLUS! They are the closest thing I've seen in this game to the penguin. Apkallu mounts, apkallu furniture, apkallu food items for housing decor, multi-colored apkallu, apkallu based clothing items. You name it. Also I would like that new glamour in 3.5 but that's a late Starlight gift. And most important of them all? A computer which plays FFXIV in the first place.
11. W'chaza walked in to the Ironworks with a leather bag slung over her right shoulder and large rolls of paper held with her left arm and hand. Her appearance was plain as ever as she came dressed in a simple shirt, pants, and clogs. A longsword also hung from her waist, still in its scabbard, but appeared in a battered condition judging by the large scrapes, cuts, and edge marks embedded on the exterior. She pushed up her glasses quickly before closing the door behind her and took a few steps into the shop. As she neared the smith, her footsteps slowed as she scanned the other patrons. Stopping after three steps, she sniffed the air once and smiled as the scent of freshly made cookies waltzed into her nose. She hesitated but for a moment, decided where to wait, and went towards a wall behind the line. Yheli took the bag off her shoulder and set it down on the ground next to her alongside the rolls of papers in her hand and casually leaned against the wall; she didn't feel like sitting today, lest she'd get too comfortable and let the rest of her schedule slip away from her. Another glance around the room, and her head stops as she gazes towards Zhara in the back, holding her gaze for a moment to tilt her head at the Miqo'te. Have I seen her before...? Well. No matter; I still need to figure out my other stops this eve before going back. Since I'm in line, I'll work while I wait. No need to interrupt yet. Shortly after her gaze unlocks from Zhara, she moves her arms to pull out a journal with her left hand and a writing utensil with the right from the pockets on her pants. The utensil in hand, she draws black and white pictures of food items on one page and notes the recipe--ingredients and instructions both--on the adjacent page paired with flowcharts and calculations. In the back of the room, she quietly works by herself and gives the occasional glance around the area to check her surroundings as she waits for the others to finish.

13. Uh... let's see here. 1. There's only three important phrases in OOC: Please, Thank You, and "Step Off, B----" 2. You could have the worst lore-compliant character across all of the multiverse. If your character fits in a RL setting despite that, I'm still game for some RP at least. 3. 4th wall breaks/asides are acceptable during RP. 4. Perfect RP does not exist. Near-perfect RP does exist. 5. Have fun RPing. Here to entertain; not to coup de main.
14. Most posts talk about the lack of RP, how they cannot find connections, or any variant of "Why am I not getting as much RP as I should?" If you've been around long enough on any RP board, I'm fairly certain you've seen at least one of those threads pop up. Instead, I want to view this same issue from an entirely different perspective; the possibility RP is so abundant the sheer volume makes getting a foot into the door a challenge rather than a breeze. My argument is conventional means of acquiring RP are no longer appropriate and new solutions to get sufficient RP are required. I'll give a few examples of what I see. Person 1: "Anyone want to RP?" Person 2 (or Others): *silence* Person 1: "Anyone want to RP?" Person 2: "Sorry, doing something else." Person 1: "Hey, who wants to RP?" Person 2: "Oh, I'm already at an event. Maybe another time." Person 1: "Hey X, want to RP?" Person 2: "No thanks, Y." I wish I had real data to back this up, but I've noticed a mild correlation with increasing RPers on the server, more events taking place on the server, and more groups/FC popping up in relation to the number of responses similar to the examples above; dismissal or "off doing other RP." I'd argue the responses are--surprisingly--also independent of what kind of connection one person/group has to another person/group. Honestly, I'm still confused about the state of RP in general on Balmung. Is it getting oversaturated with events, is it plentiful for all people, is it too much to find a particular focus, etc. Any feasible ideas how to work around this type of deal?
15. As I now have to get a new computer because even this one is having some very serious issues, I'll be withdrawing from Arcanimalfescene. To whomever takes the open spot: Enjoy.
16. Kili covered a lot of points I'd say, so I'll stay brief. I will piggy back off his point on absenteeism though, because its importance needs stressing. Anyone within a leadership position--yes, including the GM(s)--must set aside time to invest into the FC and be active. If they cannot do that, then they should not lead. Period. I lost count of how many groups--FC, LS, or neither--go silent once the 'leader(s)' go silent. Before selecting an officer (or even a FC member, depending on your selection and invitation policies), ask yourself "Is this someone I can count on?" I'd even argue that the GM position (and general officers, by a lesser extent) is most similar to a CEO/Executive. I'd talk more on this post, but I'd start a copy-paste of another CEO talking about their experiences.
17. Every single chocobo has one name, regardless of their size, color, stature, condition, and etc. That name... is Bird. On top of that, trying to give special names to pets as if they were sentient races is folly and should not be done. She also thinks all pirates are bad until proven otherwise. Works similarly to "guilty until proven innocent." Main exception is the Maelstrom (and only a few select pirates). Pretty tough to think positively about the people who hunted you down, chased you out of your home, and took away your family. Garleans are also in this boat as well, but to a lesser degree; they're a faction recognized as enemies of the state.
18. Oh wow, that reason for rescheduling. I can sign on for a slot there on Impartial Martial now.
19. Thank you! Anyways, a late post but I'd like to thank those of you who came out to the event. I'm definitely changing a few setup items the next time it happens...
20. Double Post! Anyways, starting any minute right now. Crowd seems manageable enough, so head into Eastern La Noscea (20.9, 20.8) -- the building with the bar attached to it.
21. Blazing this post with a reminder it's tonight at 19:30 CST (7 PM CST)! Tonight's the night of fine dining. I'm both excited and scared at how many--or how few--may show up. Nevertheless, here's to hoping any who visit enjoy it
22. TEAFEESTRY OPEN WINE TASTING INFORMATION Who: Anyone! Seriously, anyone; If you like food and/or drinks, this event is one you should consider! When: Oct. 24th, 2016 || 19:30 CST (7:30 PM CST) Where: Wineport in Eastern La Noscea! Event area is restricted to within the town walls. Base of Operations is at the north side, in the tavern/bar. OVERVIEW Hello all, Leggerless here attempting to make my name in the event scene not through cabarets, nor fighting tournaments, nor balls, nor taverns. Instead, I shall host... food events! Afterall, one does not simply feast at food events. The culinarian side of RP is something I find is either underappreciated or often done in a private venue, away from the eyes of would-be chefs or people unsure of what to make of this lovely art. The chefs in Eorzea aren't just the creme of the crop, they make the creme of the crop. So! Here's how the event is going to down. To make the evening more special, I create a custom menu (with Photoshop) each patron and advertisements out in the world receive. As there's an art to when the dishes are received through the evening, the event will be on a strict timetable. Each dish is also accompanied by a particular wine. For IC purposes, assume the trays distributed out to each person are big enough to hold the plate of food and the drink, but light enough to carry in one hand. This week's custom menu--and schedule--is below: MENU SCHEDULE 19:30 CST Introductions 19:40 CST Course 1: Appetizer 20:00 CST Course 2: Soup 20:20 CST Course 3: Salad 20:40 CST Course 4: Palate Cleanser [Doubles as intermission!] 21:00 CST Course 5: Main Course/Entree 21:20 CST Course 6: Cheese & Fruit 21:40 CST Course 7: Dessert 22:00 CST Closing Period (And "Meet the Chef") [Lasts for 1 hour until 23:00 CST] At each time, a /yell goes out with a brief description of what's to come. Ten minutes before the next course is served, another /yell is made stating cleanup and picking up dishes and silverware from the current course is underway. CLOSING COMMENTS/VOLUNTEERING Whew! How often do events give you schedules like that, eh? As for volunteers, you may act as a volunteer waiter/waitress or even a guest chef for the evening by whispering me in game at Leggerless Hanzou. The evening of the event, you will be invited into a party with me. Due to party size limitations, I can take up to 7 volunteers. In the case of volunteers or no volunteers, please assume that NPC staff will pass out dishes to you. At each /yell annoucing the new course, you can emote receiving the next tray and/or passing off your previous one for it. As for persons or companies offering a place to host this event inside of their house, also PM me at the same name. I'll request that the house is either a Medium or a Large with plenty of table space. I can manage with a Small, but the clustering issue is greatly magnified in a small as you have 2 floors compared to 3. For all house sizes, ensure that you have a functional, IC kitchen. I will personally stop by the area before approving it as well. Anyways. Hope you guys like what you see. It's the first time I'm hosting an event of my own and I'm a bit excited for it.
23. Wait. I think I get it. It's like making a basic character You can comply with all basic rules and have the most basic character of them all. However, even though you are correct on all basic fronts, people would rather RP with someone that isn't basic! Hope thats right.
